We (spouse and I) never had a need for a compounding pharmacy before as we have our typical prescriptions automatically refilled via another company. However, when our family need one-off prescriptions filled (after urgent care visits, etc.), we tend to go to either CVS/Walgreens and the likes. Thank goodness Danville Pharmacy is a compounding pharmacy! Yesterday evening, after a Pediatric Urgent Care visit for our kiddo, we were given a prescription that was sent to CVS inside Target. They then told us they can't fill it and we need to go to a main store like CVS/Walgreens that is a standalone brick and mortar store (meaning not inside another store). After calling several nearby CVS/Walgreens standalone stores, no one can fill the prescription. Finally, someone mentioned to us that we need a "compounding pharmacy". By the time we heard of a compounding pharmacy and did our Yelp search for one, Danville Pharmacy was already closed. We called another compounding pharmacy in another city, which was still open. Unfortunately, that other compounding pharmacy had one of the main ingredients listed in the prescription in powder form, which isn't the liquid form called out in the prescription (that's a no go for us since the Urgent Care physician confirmed the powder form wouldn't be as effective). We were forced to wait until today to try out Danville Pharmacy and ensure they have all the listed ingredients for our kiddo's prescription. We're told they did and the prescription would be ready later in the afternoon. We hurriedly picked up the prescription and the pharmacist (gentleman) was nothing but wonderful during our consult. The pharmacist made our kiddo comfortable right on the spot considering he had a hard time sleeping last night from pain (even after Children's Motrin) and woke up several times from sleep. He also had answered all of our questions (including the prescription's flavor since our kiddo has vomited in the past from a supposed nasty tasting medicine). The lady working the register was also nice. Our first day experience with Danville Pharmacy has been nothing but wonderful. Everyone was helpful, nice, and downright a pleasure to do business with. I was in there yesterday and the Pharmacist (male, darker skinned gentleman) was behind the counter, sorting peoples prescription medication/pills (breathing on them) WITHOUT WEARING A MASK!!! Other staff had their masks pulled down below their noses. How can you breathe on someone's pills, putting there life at risk? Very selfish act. The staff was also very pushy when I was just looking around the shop, even going as far as one lady coming from around the counter and standing in the same area as I was. Do not recommend for anyone who needs their prescription auto-refilled on a predictable schedule. I started coming here after I relocated to the area just over a year ago - because I normally try to support small businesses rather than the big box pharmacies. However despite the pharmacist telling me that they can perform automatic refills, time and time again, when I came to pick up my refills, they were not yet filled. The problem with this is that they were not refilled on the automatic refill date, but instead on the day of my arrival which really screws up my prescription schedule. I travel for work internationally so sometimes I'm not around to pick up my automatic refills on the actual date when the automatic refill should have occurred. But I still need them refilled on the dates that they should have been refilled (not a week or two later when I returned from international travel). Because I travel for work a lot, I need a month or more supply. Even though he initially offered to perform automatic refills, when I questioned why he was not refilling them until I returned from travelling and the pharmacist tried to tell me its illegal to do an automatic refill and not pick it up same day. Not sure why he would try to tell me that because every pharmacy I've ever used (big box stores like Walgreens, RiteAid, CVS, and smaller pharmacies) will automatically refill my blood pressure and breathing medication on a specified date and then just wait for me to come pick them up. Even if I was going to arrive a week or two later - no problem - unless you come to Danville Pharmacy. Sad that they cannot provide better services as a small business. But if performing automatic refills are not important to you, this would otherwise be a decent pharmacy, even though everything else not controlled by insurance pricing, is overpriced. read more

From my experience, I believe that this Pharmacy is owner-operated. Unlike Walgreens, they have a responsive staff that answers the phone and gets back to you promptly. I am totally the customer of the Danville Pharmacy. I purchased the item in January, and I found out that was overpriced at the same day. At the end, I decided to write my experience on here. In Feb 5th, the owner sent me a message and wanted me to delete the review; however, I just wrote the review to explain my own experience and I don't think there's any problem because I just use Yelp as how it works. I trust Yelp allows people to speak out based on their experience including unsatisfied review and I hope we can respect each other. Based on the message from the owner, it shows that they knew I was one of the customer, and it is kind of interesting now they mention I am not their customer. Where is the Danville friendliness? This place was very helpful until I needed to return a walker that I bought earlier in the day. I was told there are no returns -- ever -- since COVID. Nowhere in the store or on my receipt does it say this and the "helpful" woman selling me the walker did not say a word about no returns. After an unpleasant exchange, I was able to return the walker and yet it took a month for the refund to come through. I let the woman know they needed to let customers know -- put up a sign at the register at the least -- she shrugged and said she would let the owner know. Yeah, right. I have lived across the country and need regular medication that needs to be adjusted as circumstances arise. I've used all the chains like CVS/right aid/Walgreens/Costco/in store chains etc. It's like something is always wrong, it takes forever, their missing a medication, ridiculous lines that are always slow, curt treatment, need to come another day.... Just something is always wrong and you have to walk pass a whole bunch of crap and often poor parking. This Pharmacy! Easy to park. It's right off the freeway. It's fresh and clean. Small but full of all pharmaceutical nicknacks, health & beauty products, few beverages and treats...the best kind. Bonus, usually no line! They ALL know me by name and say hello and promptly get my medications. If not already done, The Pharmacist will promptly complete your order. We work together on restricted medications and timing. They will do whatever they can so you can get everything in one quick trip. They prepare for your next return and refills. They are extremely nice and I have wonderful conversations with everybody there. You get pharmacist answers right away and they will accommodate to your needs. Maybe the best part - they deliver! they've gotten everything perfect every time. This is the best pharmacy by far and exceeds all expectations! I will only ever go to some horror pharmacy if I just got released from the ER and you need a medication at night... perhaps the 24hr in Dublin, at least there's no lines but who's paying my ga$. My medications are very complicated and this place handles it, syncs it, with courtesy and care. You feel like a team working together and you will receive all the help you need. #1 Pharmacy - period. Making sure you understand what medication has been prescribed for you and any side effects, best way to take it. Having been to Walgreens and CVS many times over the years - for their 24hr "convenience," I would say that those chain store pharmacies are not worth the disorganization, corner-cutting, understaffing, and various issues that a well-run, family-owned pharmacy like this one has no problems with handling! On average, I would have to wait in line (even the drive through) at Walgreens for 20-40 minutes for either pick-up or drop-off, and they are generally trying to rush you out of there as quickly as possible. They aren't staffed to handle their orders. CVS is similar. This pharmacy (recommended by my doctor) is a gem. The prices are normal, and the customer service is fantastic. They are competent, kind, and punctual. So unless you can only pick up your rx late night between 7pm - 5am, don't feed the chain stores that have no conscience, while we have these excellent, smaller businesses that depend on their good relationships with patients and doctors to run! I highly recommend Danville Pharmacy. Ali is an angle with a white coat. In the past five months I've been going through a serious medical condition, which often requires a last minute prescription. In many instances, the medication has not been called in/sent over electronically. In those cases where I'm desperate for the medication, Ali calls the Dr/NP to ask questions and/or change the order or get what he needs to fill for the prescription. In a situation like this I've never had to wait more then 30 minutes for an answer. Usually the pharmacist or one of his colleagues are calling me to tell me the prescription is ready. And yes, they deliver, as long as your order is ready by noon. In regards to higher prices for the miscellaneous gifts, cards and unique items for purchase. Danville Pharmacy is a small privately owned business. Consequently their items can cost more then a large corporate entity (CVS, Walgreens, RoteAid, Costco). My answer, you pay a bit more, if you choose, No one forces you to purchase cards and gifts there. You'll rarely get the personal service similar to Ali and his staff at any of the large pharmacies. It's everyone's choice to shop where you can find what you want at lower prices. My choice will always be Danville Pharmacy for their service, not matched on any level by the corporate pharmacies. My mother is 87 years old and is a customer of Danville Pharmacy which is located 14.8 miles from the city we live in. My mother has very little income and lives with my husband and I who pay for all the expenses she cannot afford on her own. My mother is healthy and takes a couple of prescribed medications. However, Danville pharmacy makes several deliveries a month charging $20 a delivery. My mother won't explain to us why it is necessary for the pharmacy to make excessive deliveries a month. Typically, my husband has to pay for the deliveries and has provided credit or bank cards to pay a one-time payment only and the pharmacy is not authorized to store the card on my mother's account. This month, I gave my mother permission to use one of my credit cards once for a charge of $68 dollars to Danville pharmacy. Two weeks later there was an unauthorized charge to my credit card from Danville Pharmacy in the amount of $248, I called my bank and told them I didn't authorize this charge and to reverse the charge which they did. I spoke to an employee of Danville Pharmacy and told them they were not authorized to use my card for the second charge and the employee began to argue with me that they keep credit cards open on the customer accounts and enter the card numbers until one accepts the charge of the medicine. They sent an employee to our home to pick up the money after I reversed the charge on my credit card and my husband gave the employee a check. The employee accused my husband of giving her a bad check and didn't want the check because it was going to bounce; according to her he doesn't have money and no one writes checks anymore, she then accused my husband of elder abuse for not wanting to pay for my mother's medication. All of this while she's on the front porch yelling loud enough so the neighbors can hear her. They then called the police on my husband and me accusing us of elder abuse. Calling the police and making false accusations involving a senior citizen is reckless, irresponsible, and potentially dangerous. read more

They bought the business from the former pharmacist-owner, who had become very ill and allowed it to run down badly. Not only is it freshly redecorated, but the owners are friendly, as helpful as can be, and efficient. The prices are competitive, and they deliver. They remember who you are and what you usually call for. I got tired of standing in line at Target and CVS, Rite-Aid, etc. I don't know why it was not open on May 5, when Neil went there; but it has always been open every time I have gone there.
