This review is for the Pharmacy at this store. Unfortunately, it is so bad that it casts its shadow on the entire store for it to get a 1 Star review (store is neither spectacular nor so bad as to warrant a 1 star). The assistants at the Pharmacy are always in front of their computers, heads down, and ignoring their customers who are patiently standing in line. On the rare occasions they are not staring at the screens, they are talking amongst themselves - bottom line, it seems like a "do anything except to make eye contact with the customer, and see who else will attend to the customer" attitude. When they finally do attend to the customer, not only is it not helpful, it is not even transactional - it is a few short bursts of abrupt questions, search for the meds, more typing on the computer, take your money and off you go - if that were efficiently and quickly executed, I would be fine with it - chances are, it would take more than a few minutes for the transaction to be completed. Thank goodness I do not have High BP meds, else I would have eaten the entire prescription there and then dealing with them! I would not recommend this place to get your prescriptions filled. read more

I'm a fan because they do have a lot of items available for customers who want to avoid the big chain stores and grab what they need. However, the lines can get long. From medications to alcohol, to greeting cards, it's perfect for when you know you've forgotten something and wanna get in and out of the store. Also, don't forget their ice cream parlor up front! Of course everything is marked up a little bit more than the big chain stores, but that's why it's convenient! Parking lot can be a little crazy because of all the cars trying to get into the Asian supermarket across the lot. read more

I always come to this store to grab few items or medications because it is conveniently nearby. I also come here to grab guilty items like my favorite chips, flaming hots. Guilty pleasures are such a killer. Anyway, the store is always clean. Convenient place to go to buy medications. Busy days, the line can get pretty long because most of the time, the max cashiers they have is 2. You're lucky if there's 3. +1 extra star since they serve ice cream! read more

Thrifty's ice cream is the only reason why I come here. This store always seems to be understaffed, the lines are usually long and slow. Sometimes they have a weird system where you have to pay for your ice cream at the regular register, then take your receipt back to the ice cream counter. I always end up waiting in the wrong line. Sigh. Despite the confusion, I really like the ice cream here. I used to eat Thrifty's ice cream a lot as a kid. My favorites are still pineapple coconut and rocky road. If the ice cream could get it's own rating, I'd give it 5 stars. read more

Service is so bad. I went to my doctor's office to ask for a refill. For some reason the prescription could not be sent through internet. My doctor then called for me on the speaker phone. There was a lengthy discourse on COVID shots. A pharmacy tech then pick up the phone and put my doctor on hold for 15 minutes. I was standing there watching the clock. If they are so overwhelmed how could they take good care of you? I am switching out of here and go Safeway per recommendation of my doctor. I am doing this while my doctor is still on hold. This pharmacy is terrible!! They send you a text message and voicemail that your prescription is ready, but when you drive all the way over there to pick it up, they say it's not ready until the pharmacist gets back from lunch. Absolutely ridiculous and poor customer service!! Hire more pharmacists!! Wish I could give zero stars. read more

I really dread going here because the line are always long and slow. It's new and remodel now and it looks 10x nicer than it did before but it doesn't make up for it's incompetence in service department. Don't come here for prescriptions. I tried to fill rx's for my husband at this pharmacy after he had oral surgery and was loopy; have never had any issue in the many times I've filled rx's for my dad at other pharmacies, but apparently Rite-Aid policy is that you need the ID of the person whose rx it is! Went to Target, and no ID requirement, but because of the wasted time, it was too close to closing time for them to fill it, so I wound up driving to the 24hr CVS on Berryessa (also no ID requirement!). Save yourself the aggravation and just go to any other pharmacy. read more

Came by on a Wednesday night in hopes they have spaghetti sauce as I did not want to drag my 3 boys out the car to an actual grocery store. Just wanted to go in and out. Hey what do you know, they do have spaghetti sauce and just as I went to check my wallet I forgot my wallet. I asked the cashier and he said we have apple pay. WINNING! When I finally found someone( I think it was manager) I asked for directions to the bathroom and he totally gave me an attitude that I was wasting his time. PS. This is for the pharmacy. They are slow, inefficient, and always always always mess up prescriptions. I'm not really sure why they don't hire more people and people who can speak English better. There is a drive thru and always just one person working both the inside store line and the drive thru line. Plus they aren't very good at English. i'm sorry, but if I'm trying to explain things about my medication and they don't understand what I'm trying to say (and vice versa), a lot can go wrong! This place is OK. I mean, everyone knows how it goes in retail... You can't really expect much especially if you're on the east side of San Jose. So I was here earlier today trying to get some cheap eyeliner for temporary use because my makeup bag got jacked (who does that??) and I needed some on my face ASAP because my grandpa was having a birthday party at my parents' house. I went in, I didn't expect the line to be excessively long, but it was. I hesitated to get the makeup, but I walked up to the aisle anyway. I saw that N.Y.C. had this BOGO thing, cool. I read everything on the ad, just in case there was a stupid catch, but no... There wasn't. I grabbed a liquid eyeliner for $2.99 and a pencil eyeliner for $1.99. I headed to the line, it was hot as hell and I don't think they had any air-conditioning on. I was impatiently waiting for literally 10 minutes. Only 1 checker and the line was a mile long. Reason why the line was going über slow was because the cashier, who acts childish for his age and was full of himself, was making side conversations with every. damn. customer. I understand you want to present great customer service and reach out to them all, because yeah... It's your job, but there is a LINE. Do that extra shit later... Like when you have down time or something. Jeez. They decided to call for backup and I finally got to the front of the line. I got greeted by the dude, cool... He rang me up. "$5.41" I go, "I thought these were buy one get one free?" He smirks, "Only if you have a Rite-Aid card" I reply, "Well I don't have one." He then asks me if I know anyone who has one. I don't know and I don't care if anyone I know has a Rite-Aid card. And why would I be using theirs anyway??? He didn't even ask me if I wanted to sign up for one, either. I tell him that I only want the liquid eyeliner and what made me mad was that he replied with, "You did all that work for nothing." F You!!! Who the hell are you anyway??? You work minimum wage, yo... Get out of here. I tell him, "Yeah, if you would have rang faster I could've saved me some time." I paid him my $3.25 for the makeup and just left. I liked Rite-Aid before this incident, but even though this place is not even a minute away from my house, I am never, ever coming here again. I rarely go here because I'd rather make the further drive down the street to Target but this place is literally across the street from my house so if i'm in a hurry and don't have time then i would swing by here. New location has more merchandise and seems more lively than the old place but this review is from my experience based on the 4 times i've been here and my last visit here (an hour ago) has assured me i'd rather take my business elsewhere. The lines are always long and the cashiers work really slow. Customer service use to be great prior to the remodel but now at the new location i feel like the service has gone downhill. Seems like they were desperate for workers so they hired inexperienced youngins who obviously hate their jobs. I was here earlier today making wallet sized prints cause i was putting together a picture frame for a friend. Went to pay for it and the cashier (LIZ) had to shuffle through 3 huge stacks of barcodes to scan. She was nice enough to apologize for the wait while her 'merchandising supervisor' DOMINIQUE was giving me full on attitude the whole time even when she wasn't the person helping me. Yeah i'm sorry if your system is disorganized and you dont know the pricing to everything cause well, i dont expect you to. But as a 'supervisor' i would expect you to have a little bit more knowledge in customer service but obviously you don't know the meaning of it. She told me that each sheets (2 wallets) costed about $2.99 and i corrected her saying the machine said it was $0.49 per sheet. I even offered to show her on the photo machine myself the correct price so i could just be on my way. But instead all i got was attitude. I'm not going to pay 5x more for a stupid picture when i know for a fact it's not how much she says it is. I'm not trying to undermine her stupidity but I wanted to show her that i'm not trying to rip them off or whatever. The situation could've went about without the serious attitude. Higher management here really needs to rethink who they have managing their store and retrain their employees about customer service, especially their 'Merchandising Supervisor" Dominique. So i would say avoid this place altogether if you don't want to deal with obnoxious females that give you the stare down and extreme attitude. read more

Worst customer service and the ice cream sucked. I went there specially for rainbow ice cream and they didn't have any flavors. She couldn't even scoop the ice cream of how empty all the ice cream boxes were. She opened the fridges behind her and there was lots of ice cream but was too lazy to put new ones out.. This rite aid is the worst. There is only 1 cashier most days and she or he will alternate between the 2 registers. So I just came up with 4 products and she said okay after ringing my products up and then told me to hold on while she than stopped my transaction to go to the neighboring register to ring up the family that came up with their many items...... they had almost 3 times the items I had and after she rang them up but before finishing their transaction she came back to take my payment???? Hahahaha! Does that make any sense at all? It made both customer transactions longer - especially mine since I was there first... truly silly logic... and yet... this store continually does this. Pharmacy sucks. Doctor faxed prescription and went to pick it up. They told me it's on order and to pick it up the next day after 2PM. This was Thursday. So I decided to pick it up on Monday, and again they told me to pick it up the next day after 2PM. I'm not taking that crap anymore and requested to talk with the manager. They manage to transfer the medication over to another Rite Aid and I've wasted 2 hours. This happened twice. I sould have learned my lesson the first time. I'm never coming back. read more

I went in there because of the ad I received in the Sunday paper. The store is remodeled but very crowded and unpleasant! I went in there purchased some stuff then I had to exchange something and the cashier made me feel like I was inconveniencing to her to do her job. That was only after myself and 2 other people stood at the counter for over 5 minutes minutes waiting her to come, and she only came after one of the people behind me went and FOUND! All I know is the staff is very rude and do not make you feel very happy about being there. They need some better staff ones that actually enjoy their job.
