Almost daily, after 7pm it seems there are no staff in pharmacy available to answer the telephone. It's a waste of time to be on hold to only be put on hold over and over and a complete disregard for people ( aka your customers) and their time. Rite Aid in South Pasadena, you need to do better. I think this is a nicer one, based on its location. Friendly staff and I like the new, brighter layout and presentation of items in the aisles. Toys and other items of that nature are always overpriced, but people mainly come here for pharmacy-related stuff and the ICE CREAM. read more

The front end woman name Esmeralda who works there very apparently dislikes her job! Come to find out reading others similar reviews that she is the Manager?! Just wow! I was purchasing something and asked her if I could get the key to unlock the restroom and she replied I don't have any staff to open the door I said ok so I can't use the restroom she bluntly said no. There was a woman at the ice cream counter and Esmeralda wasn't doing anything that she couldn't accommodate to a customer. Very unprofessional and rude there weren't any customers in line and she had no reason to not open it. I've shopped there for years! Ridiculous! What I like about Rite Aid....its the Thrifty ice cream so good, so cheap. A two scoop is only $1.79, and they have those cool cylinder scoopers. I had rocky road and cookie and creams, very delicious. The only thing that sucks you usually have to wait for someone to get to the ice cream section cause they have to call somebody to go there. The other reasons I go to Rite Aid is for there great selection of booze and condoms which some how in my world go hand and hand. Great deals on booze, the condoms pay for themselves when you think about it. i also bought some protein here, they had a great buy one get one free, most of the proteins had good deals going on. read more

Fast and prompt customer service. Asked my new pharmacy to request a transfer of my prescription from this Rite Aid. They did it immediately within 1 day. I did the same thing with my other prescription at rite aid in Glendale. I had to call them after 4 days to have my prescription transferred. Glendale Rite Aid is either incompetent or simply just doesn't care. read more

Small issue but bad experience. My wife and I got our flu shot at Rite Aid today. We were told we get a free ice cream for having the shot and told to scan a posted sign. We then went to the ice cream counter and the guy did not like our scan. We showed him the paperwork proving that we just got our flu shots and he didn't budge. Instead of ice cream, we left with a bad taste in our mouths. read more

I've enjoyed this Rite Aid a lot more since the renovation and update, the layout is more accessible and inviting than it had been prior. I've never had an issue with any folks here, so I can't speak to that, hopefully any patterns of negative action have been taken care of. I come here for some cool and unique cards, as well as a great magazine selection, when I'm in the mood for some lighter reading. I might stop by here in the summer, because I am a sucker for Thrifty rainbow sherbet, and old habits die hard. It's a fun stop when I'm going for a walk, and remember that I need something useful, or if I'm coming intentionally for specific items, I know I can count that they'll most likely have it. This Rite Aid in South Pasadena is really clean and is super nice inside. They got there upgrade in around 2010, but they still keep it looking like the first day they got it! Friendly pharmacist and most cashiers. Prices are kinda high but that is because it's like a mini grocery store so, can't worry too much. But they always have deals on there Thrifty Ice Cream! For an ice cream scoop it will cost you around $1.99, for any flavor they have out. Not a wide variety of flavors here but I can manage. Ice cream is always good and yummy! I was passing by to check on Xmas clearance and checked out the renovated Rite Aid. It looks very bright and bigger with new paint, shelving, and wood floors. They have little of everything from school, beauty, photos, clothes, liquor, refrigerated items, snacks, etc. the cashiers are very friendly and nice. Parking available in the lot. read more

I was on my way back home from the bank Sunday night and I got a sudden craving for ice cream. This is on the way, so I stopped in here. This Rite-Aid has been here FOREVER. Back when Rite-Aid used to be Thrifty's. You remember Thrifty's? Yeah you do. And for those of you were probably weren't even born yet, well.... I kind of just dated myself. Not that I'm THAT old, I'm just saying. But I digress.... I walk in and no one is at the ice cream counter, which makes sense because it'd be a waste of company money to just have a guy standing there in a 10 square foot space twidling his thumbs. I got a double scoop of mint chocolate chip and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. Mint chocolate chip is probably my absolutely FAVORITE flavor of all time. That was good as always. However, the chocolate chip cookie dough was icy. Bleh.... Service was cool. When I walked in, within 10 seconds of me standing at the unmanned counter, a cashier who was busy ringing somebody up, got on the PA and called for "customer service on ice cream". I turned around and thanked her. And the guy helping me made sure to wash his hands when he got back there. $1.69 for the 2 scoops. No tax and I gave him my change as a tip. This is for the Rite Aid in South Pasadena: Trying to sell medication that will be expired before you take it ALL is a CRIME! This is exactly what happened to me at this Rite Aid today. I caught it, but imagine this is an old person who cannot see very well, or someone who just trust those crooks... I cannot live without this meds, it could have been a death sentence! SHAME ON YOU! I went to fill pain medication prescription for my mom, prescribed by dentist and the woman in the pharmacy told me they dont have that pain medication or any alternatives. What pharmacy doesn't carry pain medications. Pharmacy techs/workers here are rude. Wait time is generally half hour even when you are the only one there, which seems unreasonable. read more

This Rite Aid is the bomb for cosmetics. OMG. They have all the usual suspects in terms of drugstore brands, and they are always plentifully stocked. No gaping holes in the fave and popular colors. They also have some upscale brands, some I have never heard of, and some that i had. It is built out like a Sephora type model so shopping is really fun and inspiring. But the VERY BEST PART is the department manager named Sara. She completely rules, is super knowledgeable about all the lines, knows a ton about makeup because she used to manage a Sephora, and she is so nice to everyone that shops in her department. Seriously, I saw her treat an lady who was elderly (like 85+) with such grace and sincerity with her makeup needs, as well as a younger customer who was just learning about makeup. She is amazing! Look for the cute chick with the Betty Page/Louise Brooks vibe. She will sort you if you need makeup! The store has amazing brands all around. Had to stop at this Rite Aid while I was in the area, since my Long Beach one wasn't carrying what I needed. Maybe it was the time of day, but I didn't encounter the wait others did; I dropped off my prescription and my name was called on the intercom 10 minutes later, tops. The pharmacist who gave me a consultation was friendly and helpful. The pharmacy cashier was nice. The only negative I can think of is that this is a small store, but it had everything you really need at a Rite Aid, and a surprisingly large cosmetics area for the size of the store. read more

They started with five stars for the ice cream and this one cute girl; I think she is one of the managers. Also the pharmacists are helpful. They also have a nice selection of travel items; those small versions of shampoo, deodorant, hair gel....you know that stuff. But they have lost some stars with the renovations, I can't find anything anymore. There is no logic to the layout, who designed the place? Some hippy on weed?? Another star lost because when I ask the staff where stuff has been moved to or if they still stock something, they say it might have been discontinued. I also hate that they allow people to sit near the door asking for contributions for some charity, all the time. I want to walk in without being asked for money and buy what I need, is it too much to ask for a hassle free experience? There is absolutely no such thing as "a quick stop at Rite Aid." They always only have one cashier working at the front and you'd think that one of the prerequisites for that job is "incompetence." Even with 12 customers in line, they will rarely open a second checkout line, and if they do, that one will move as painfully slowly as the other. At the pharmacy, most of the people who help you are well rehearsed in how to go about their jobs and look extraordinarily busy while avoiding eye contact with you so you can't ask them questions or get service from them. I only go to the pharmacy when I'm sick and impatient, so I imagine it's got to be a tough job, but still, a little compassion please? PLEASE? And to the customers, would you please not go to the pharmacy counter with a grocery cart full of stuff? It's rude. read more

Do not go here for passport or ID photos. I have tried on a couple occasions to get my passport photos here and each time it's been a disaster and the photos were rejected by both the passport and then the Visa office. My mistake for going back. The staff were very nice but are not trained trained to use the camera and my photos were printed blown out, not correctly framed and then they did not cut them for me at 2x2" as is normal. After the second retry at this location, I wish whomever was in the back room ordering they be fixed would have come out and done them correctly. My mistake for going back. I have visited this location a few different times for different needs. This most recent visit was for a vaccine shot. I called to see if they had the shot I wanted (no point in going and finding out they didn't) they promptly answered the phone in the pharmacy section. Put me on hold while they verified their stock. Told me they did and I was on my way. The place has always been clean with easy to read product sections. The pharmacy is in the back, baby section on the back right., and so on. Waited in a short line to tell the attendant what I wanted. He gave me a form to fill out while he took my insurance card. I finished, we exchanged documents and I was in a conference room waiting for my shot. I was in and out within 12 minutes because I knew what I wanted, I called to verify they had it, arrived prepared with my documents (my insurance id) and didn't have a group in front of me when I got in line. 5th star will be earned next visit for my flu shot. read more

YELP REVIEW #100--what?! Five stars for the employees, customer service, and location of this Rite Aid. They are simply the best. I came in on a busy Friday afternoon because I desperately needed to get passport photos done. Not only was the staff cordial, helpful, and kind, but they addressed any and all questions I had about passport photos. I got my photos taken care of and was in and out of the store in less than five minutes. The photos came out great (and yes, my ears were showing. :P) They cost less than CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart (ew Walmart), and they're the closest drug store to where I live. Okay, maybe not THE closest, but with customer service like this, why would I go anywhere else? Plus, who can say no to Thrifty ice cream? They have always had someone on staff every single time I've gone. Terrific experience. GO! read more

All i needed was one scoop of ice cream. However, a guy right behind me places TWO boxes of magnum condoms and some soft drink on the conveyor belt, resulting in his condoms looking like they were my purchase. Just as I was assessing the situation as to when would be the best time to say "I just want a single scoop" right before the cashier could start ringing anything that wasn't mine, and avoid having to say, "oh, those aren't mine...," another cashier opens a new register and pulled me out of the sensitive situation. Usually I won't even bother to rate a pharmacy in a chain drugstore but I've been too impressed by few staff here! Ifon, Susan and Ann (hope I remember their names correctly). I've had allergies and Ann made my day once by helping me on a complicated payment adjustments due to insurance and coupon. It was troublesome but she did it swiftly and I was very impressed. Susan once helped me on another case where my insurance didn't cover my drugs. I said I'd come back later as she was busy but she paused and helped me research so I don't have to make another trip. And today, Ifon saw me confused with my skin creams and not only gave me extensive advice on how to use them, but came out and showed me of the counter products that may help alleviate my problems. I have been coming to this rite aid for over 10 years, and today a New day manager racially profiled me. He actually followed me out of the store and asked to look into my bag for a receipt. He did not even look at the receipt to match items. I go to this rite aid each month for medication pick up, and today thought I would buy other items as well, I will never buy non-prescription items again from this rite aid; in fact, I will change even pharmacy upon my next refill. So there I was, trying to receive a money order. I do all the proper steps & procedures to receive said order. I go to the front desk & a gentleman named Michael "assists" me. So I tell him how much and have all the proper forms of ID in order to pickup my $$. However, for some odd reason-- Michael takes it upon himself to say that because of certain information-- he can't payout. So I call the company that the money order went thru & sure enough-- the issue that high & mighty Michael gave-- wasn't an issue at all & should have payed out the order. So here I am, writing this review because I feel personally victimized by Michael & feel as though he genuinely wanted to give me a hard time. (MIND YOU: this said information has NEVER been an issue in prior transactions) so Michael, if you're the "manager" then maybe learn more about protocols and who you're dealing with instead of being anxiety ridden and absolutely horrible at customer service.
