I mainly use CVS for general needs but I find Rite Aid at this location to be bright and clean in store. Staffs at CVS and Rite Aid are both good. The winning thing is that Rite Aid still carries nonproprietary merchandize. What you cannot find brand name products most likely can be found at Rite Aid. In my case, it was the 3M Nextcare medical tape. read more

The customer service takes forever. There are only about two people working at a time and most of the time they are at the register. They lock up most of their makeup items (which yes, I understand to prevent them from being stolen), however they do not provide any service for the makeup products to be unlocked. I was recently there with my daughter on 8pm on a tuesday night. The service was terrible as we had to wait in a fifteen minute line just to ask to unlock the eyelashes so we could pay, instead they made us rewait in the line again. I arrived about 7-10 minutes before closing time to find myself and 2 other customers standing at the door waiting since it was not 10pm yet and they had locked and closed the doors. As they came back to open the doors they made sure to repeat to us that we had 2 minutes to get our items that we needed and proceed to the front to pay. As most customers I would assume you go to a drug store knowing what you need and it is a quick in and out errand, we would have had more than 2 minutes to get our items if the store had not been closed prior to its closing time in the first place. Very disappointed with both Eufemia and Tyler for their horrible customer service. If I could give no stars I would have. read more

I've been going to this Thrifty / Rite Aid scence it was next to Where OSH is now ,well over 45 years ! I've been a happy customer till today . I went to get my prescription and saw Wild Turkey whiskey on sale and picked up a bottle and also got some Christmas cards . At check out they asked for ID , I asked if it was to see if I was 21 ? They said yes , and even if you look of age we need to see ID ! No ID no sale they said . I left without buying anything .I will now throw my WELLNESS card away and N O T shop at rite aid again ! I'll change my prescription to Pavilions and buy my Wild Turkey at TRAIDER JOES from now on ! That's it . I guess if rite aid changes their policy I won't know because I'm not shopping there ! i find myself in the pharmacy pick up line far more than the retail line, but completely understand the frustration of other reviewers as the few times i've stopped at the regular check-out, it's never been a brief experience. that said, this review is about the pharmacy service, which i have to say, has been stellar. vanessa is the kindest clerk, she remembers people and greets them with a warm friendly smile. she's always hustling when there's even a little line and is just 'on it'. given the transient/temporary/digital nature of society anymore, i'm really impressed and appreciate that she remembers so many customers. after any given long crazy workday, it's really nice to be greeted in such a welcoming, friendly way. (i don't know her personally, so this isn't a planted review; i've just been there enough to notice this girl is great and deserves appreciation.) other pharmacy service has also been great, come to think of it; i've never had any sort of mix up with refills, and they're great about calling dr.'s regarding expired prescriptions/re-refills. the only other thing i'd add about my neighborhood rite-aid is that their store-branded products tend to be excellent and you can use the aisles as a sort of holiday-calendar - if you don't mind being 3 months early ;) read more

The cashiers here are the slowest on record, no matter what time of day or night. I've never gotten out of there in less than 20 minutes. It is mind bogglingly aggravating. ALSO, there is one nice person working at the pharmacy but the one actual pharmacist I dealt with? Here's that story: I received my membership benefit cholesterol/glucose screening, and was told to give the pharmacy my name and number for results after several minutes of confusion. They never called me as promised. I went back to the store and was again told (rudely) that I needed to give my name/number. Gave it again. On my way home 1/2 hr later, I got a vmail saying they had results. Called back & was told they didn't have it, but before I could get mad again they decided they did have results after all and said I could pick up paperwork anytime. So wait, the results were there the whole time but they couldn't be bothered to check? Each time I deal with the pharmacy, aside from the cheerful (but oh so slow) lady, I feel like I am interrupting their busy day and they have always been irritated with any question I have. I am very glad to have my "real" pharmacy with Pavillions Burbank. They are busy too but are more likely to treat me like a human being. read more

This review is for the pharmacy. There is usually one cashier so the wait can get long, up to 30 min on one occasion. But the worst part of of the experience is the rude and unhappy pharmacy techs. There is one in particular, a heavy-set Asian female with glasses. She is impatient and annoyed all the time. I've been going to the Pharmacy for 15+ years and have endured the long waits for years because of my loyalty. But that pharm tech pushed me over the edge. I've switched over to CVS where wait times are less than 5 min and the staff are much nicer. read more

They are so unprofessional, i called them over phone to ask them about the limit of money recieving through western union they hanged up on me and then when i went to them to get my money they told me they dont have enoughy cash !!!! This is hands-down the best Rite Aid I've been to. It's big and very clean; everything is almost always restocked, especially their makeup/ cosmetic section, which is what I go for besides the ice cream. Mostly always really helpful workers. Located close to the park and South Pasadena, so if you get ice cream and want a nice walk, they are just around the corner. read more

When I was a kid this place was still called Thrifty's and ice cream was a quarter for a single scoop, 35 cents for a double and 45 cents for three scoops. Prices are a bit higher but they still have choclate malted krunch and it's sitll just as good as it was 25 years ago. Love it, love it, love it! read more

My first time at this Rite Aid was tonight to get some ice cream but the man who served us wasn't nice at all. We only bought two ice creams and the cashier got really rude while ringing us up. There wasn't even anyone else around, so it's not like we were holding other people up. I don't think customers should get snapped at when they're giving you business, so while the ice cream was good, I'd rather pay a few bucks extra for Baskin Robbins up the street and decent service. read more

This is a decent location, very slow at the register. They tend to only call extra cashiers after 4 people are in line which as feel can often time be too late. As far as selection and pricing goes, it's got average variety of items for a rite aid and sometimes you can get a great deal from their bargain bin which is in the back left of the store where the 1dollar items are. They have a lot of vitamins and supplements too, vitamins are buy 1 get 1 free often. Now I have one major gripe about this store which I need to bring up. I feel almost guilty saying it, but there is always someone collecting for charity right outside the store. They used to collect just for the holidays and I'd give them a dollar or two, but they started just showing up every day or second day. The store used to stop them from camping in front, but they seem to allow it now. I personally don't trust the charity because they don't seem organized like taking cheques or giving receipts. That's about it, I've gone here for about 15 years and love the location nevertheless. I just can't give it 5 stars because of the annoying solicitors. read more

Growing up in Southpas, this place was called Thrifty's. Fair Oaks Avenue and Mission Street was my route. Halfway between school and home for me and my siblings. A quick stop for one scoop of ice cream on a regular cone. There used to be a Crown Bookstore and a Supercuts next to it. Huge parking lot in the back. Regular prices are a bit high. But the sale prices are good. Unfortunately you need a Rite Aid card to get the specials. This is not clear until you discover you didn't get it. They do ask if you have one or want one. But don't warn you that you won't get the special if you answer no. It's called bait and switch in the con artist world. I will never shop rite aid again. The fellow inline in front of me had same issue and same comment. Though he did sign up and they had to call a manger over to completely credit and start over for his purchase while the rest of us waited. Had I realized why they had to do that. I've encountered two problems at this store and it can be narrowed down to one sentence: Management is terrible. Problem one: There is only ever one cashier doing cash (slowly, might I add) and I can never find employees on the floor if I ever have questions. This results in lines being supppperrrr long which is easily solvable. Problem two: I went to Rite Aid recently to print some photos. I chose the today service since it said that if you printed more than 50 photos it would cost 10 cents less for every photo. (This is only for the 4x6 prints). However, the machine didn't print out a receipt with the time in which we needed to come back. I went in the long line up to ask the cashier as he was the only person I could see working at the moment. He said it would take an hour, so we left and came back. When we got back, the photos weren't printed. The same cashier asked his manager to help us as he himself was confused about the photo centre. The manager went to the back for about 15 minutes. She didn't tell us what she was doing so we were stuck there waiting. We had to get another employee to page her so she would come out from the back room. The manager was working on Sept 25 at around 9pm. Her attitude was very bad and she seemed very cold and like she didn't care about us, the customers. She didn't explain how long it would take for the photos to print. She told us we would have to come back the next day and wait around until the photos came out. When we expressed our concern about being very busy and not having time to wait for these photos, she did not offer sympathy or any solutions. Ultimately, she created a bad atmosphere and left us with a terrible impression on the store. We will not come back again. read more

The SOUTH PASADENA Rite Aid is my favorite locally, and truly my preference with it's organized,clean,and simplistic layout for ease of shopping. The staff are generally pleasant and helpful( especially the regular, longstanding staff). What has been most disappointing of recent is the almost weekly turnover and training of new cashiers, with regular staff in back stocking or whatever ,with resultant long lines at checkout. After shopping at other larger, more disorganized locations, I still prefer the Rite Aid in South Pasadena, because it's like family in this small community,but I'd like to know the reason for all of this recent turnover of staff. read more

Just left this location. When I walked in, there were 3 cashiers at the registers and only one or two customers. Despite me walking over to the ice cream station, none of the cashiers acknowledged me and two of them actually left their registers and walked to other parts of the store. I asked the last one there to call someone to ice cream and she did. After a few minutes one of the cashiers came back to the front, but she didn't come to assist me. She stopped to talk to the other cashier. I left without being helped. This is actually the 2nd time this has happened at this store. Horrible service. read more

I love their Ice Cream. hard to beat the price. And there's hardy ever a line. The pharmacy is usually pretty busy. However they are pretty good. They call you when there is a problem so you don't have to come down to find your meds aren't ready. They answer my questions. They are very friendly. I think I am done with CVS. read more

I've used their pharmacy for the past 6 months or so because they are conveniently located, but twice now they have royally messed up, not calling me (like they say they will) when they can't fill a prescription that has been called in or dropped off earlier. They also don't seem to keep much in stock: it seems like as often than not, they can't fill a prescription right away. The second problem was the last--I called the Walgreens in Alhambra and they not only had the medication in stock, but were extremely nice, calling to get the prescription transferred, then calling me back to confirm the Rx was ready for pick-up. Apart from the pharmacy, their prices are a LOT higher than Target. I don't intend to set foot in this store again. read more

I came here to get a pair of bandage scissors. Not a soul on the floor to help out despite a number of customers wandering around trying to find things. I managed to find First Aid, but no scissors in sight. Spent ten minutes wandering up and down aisles in the hopes of finding a sales person but no luck. If stores are not going to hire enough staff, they should at least have some sort of directory to help out the poor customer. read more

The renovation of this store, while making it cleaner is an absolute nightmare for checkout. They actually have one person running two registers at a time. This is obviously a band aid for a poor upper management decision. The lines are always long and the registers understaffed. read more

TERRIBLE. The place has an ok selection and many times has good deals if you use your wellness card, however I agree with others who have said the lines are ridiculously long and there is usually only one person working there. And that person is usually pissed off because they are the only one working there. My real issue, however, is with the pharmacy which you should AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Seriously, do yourself a favor and go to ANY other pharmacy in the area. I recently had to fill an rx for my infant, and was given improper storage instructions which resulted in the medicine going bad. How did I find this out? When I came back for a refill, the 2nd pharmacist gave me contradictory information than what the previous pharmacist had told me, despite the fact that I had asked multiple times the first time. EPIC FAIL. Irate does not even begin to cover it. We all had to make multiple phone calls to figure out what to do. My daughter ended up having to stay on the medicine longer because of the incompetence of the people working there. The poor girl who had to clean up the situation was nice enough about it, but it is a serious issue that their pharmacists would make such a mistake. They are playing with people's lives. I blame myself for listening to someone who I assumed was a competent professional, next time I will read all of the pamphlets no matter what I am told. They also are the only pharmacy I've been to who doesn't provide droppers or ways to actually administer the medicine, and their bottles suck and are messy. Again, AVOID THE PHARMACY if you want accurate information and prescriptions. read more

And when we were struggling to get my son to smile, stand still and look at the camera, another employee, Eufemia came to help us out which I thought was very sweet. read more

This location was re-modeled and it looks great for a drug store. Sad thing is it's not exactly staff well. There's always a line on the weekend. So it's better to make a trip during the week day if you need to go here. They have a great select of things from leggings, to flash eyelashes to nail polishes. They also carry other types of things i couldn't find in other drug stores. I was in need of those non-slip socks for my mom. I went to CVS and they didn't have them there but they had them in this location. Just a warning though, they try to do their best to keep solicitors away but this location seems to always have someone soliciting for a cause. If you're in a rush ehich i have been more than once then to make this a quick trip I alway acknowledge the people soliciting and kindly wish them a good day. By speaking up first you don't give the opportunity to solicit... you get the first and last word. Lol read more
