Since you are on the island, it's awesome to have this store for so many years for convenience downtown, but do expect to pay maybe a dollar more than you would on the mainland. But, I really can't fault them for that. They have a full array of everything you'll need from snacks, cigs, beer, pop and more. You'll have to drive in at least once while you're here, or just walk right up to the cash register if you're on foot.

It looks like this was a car repair shop at one time and then converted as you pull right into the store through a big bay door and they have coolers and their shelves of stuff on each side of your car. Someone walks up to your car and you literally drive through the store until you get to the other end when you reach the register and then they ring you out. They have your typical convenience store stuff but the uniqueness of this place's layout is what earned it the four star rating.

I walked in Lil' Chet's to witness a young man vacuuming the floor, a very kind, patient and broad smiling young lady named Grace who wore the business brand well and then a taller, young man at the cash register and three other younger associates all busy at their post. I always thank people who are working these days but I'll go as far to say these associates were raised right. Bravo to whoever hired so many good workers. Now the Chicken. I walk To the back of the store and there it is.....a trove of fried chicken. I can't tell you how many people I know rave about this fried chicken. They say "it's the best around". I have driven past this place so many times, usually with somewhere to go. This time someone took the wheel and steered me straight in their lot. So I go in to see what all the fuss is about. Grace explained the difference of the chicken selection was. Just to sample, I opted for two thighs and one breast for beef and my wife with a side of sweet mustard. Got home to try it....Rats! I should have bought more.... The chicken was done right. Crispy, not greasy. In fact, if I had to rush out of the house, I know I could turn the doorknob with out washing the grease off my fingers. Breasts were not dry, thighs were tender, better than average in size and the mustard dip had a familiar taste to it but just enough off to make me consider it wasn't store bought and repackaged.
