The scope involved removing two walls and reinforcing the posts/beams/footings to open up the living room to the kitchen/dining areas, doubling the size of the kitchen, creating new skylights over the kitchen, infilling existing unused windows and sliding glass door wall, leveling the subfloor and providing new hardwood floors throughout, providing assistance/coordination for custom cabinet and countertop installation, relocating mechanical vents and ducts, relocating and adding plumbing lines for new appliance/fixture locations, installation of new electrical (power, switches, cleaning up old out of compliance wiring), and helping us install LED light fixtures throughout (including under-cabinet and under-shelf lights). They even helped us temporarily move appliances to different locations, worked with us to make sure small details and installation were done correctly and cleanly to our liking, fixed and improved uncovered areas that had sub-standard construction (house was built in the 1960s), and took great care in leveling the sub-floor with a concrete float to make sure that the new hardwood floors were sturdy and secure. Their team of contractors also did a great job of cleaning up the areas each day, since we were still living at the lower part of the house. I ended up getting my roof done for 12k from a company that's been around since the early 90s with amazing reviews and their work proved it. Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. If you like to stick to a schedule, scheduling with the company and trying to get in touch with them was awful. They would say that they would show up on Sunday at noon, and then never show up and never text to cancel. They would commit to showing up at 9-11am and then text me confused when I wasn't home to let them in at 3pm. I would text and call Sammy or whichever contractor I worked with and they wouldn't respond for days. The job was finished over a month ago and I am still trying to get a receipt, summary of work, and mold test results. They also left the demolition trash in my garage and told me they'd come back to throw it away (they never came back and I had to throw it away). Again, they do great work! But I personally wouldn't schedule with them again because of how frustrating communication and scheduling can be. I encourage them to clean up the logistical side of the house. Hire a scheduler and a dispatcher, send confirmation texts before the scheduling window, and send a text in advance if you can't make it on time or at all. Having the skills to remodel and repair is half of what someone is hiring when selecting a contractor. Being on time, organized, and reliable is the other half.
