When visiting Chicago over Labor Day weekend, we walked here and WOW - I had the best scone I have ever had in my entire life! I am a home baker who is very particular about my pastries, and OMG the caramel pecan scone (still warm from the oven) ... I am in awe of how good it was!! A fine coffeeshop with solid wifi, good Intelligentsia coffee, and a bright space. When we came they were a little low on food options, only having 3 donuts left in the case--two chocolate and one cinnamon sugar. My husband and I both opted for the chocolate and I got a nitro cold brew, he a cappuccino. Nitro cold brew and cap were both great. Donuts were ok. Not sure what they made them with but they left a bit of a film on my tongue. They tasted good but the mouthfeel was less than enjoyable. Comfortable space for working for a few hours and the coffee is worth coming back for again and again if you're in the area. read more

Their matcha latte was pretty good. They had coconut milk which I appreciated since other coffee shops I've frequented abruptly stopped carrying it. They also added honey which other coffee shops do not. I only saw bakery items in the case so don't plan on a savory breakfast. It's also cramped inside but there is an outdoor patio. Unfortunately, it's right by the Brown Line train tracks so unless you love having your conversation interrupted every 5 minutes, aim to just grab your coffee or tea to go. I really like this place. It reminds me of a coffee shop I used to work at in the bay like 10 years ago. Good drinks, good vibes, and lovely staff. They're open late (10pm 7 days a week!!) and are right off the Irving Park Brown line stop. The only reason why I'm giving them a 4/5 is that for the indoor seating I wanna say only the communal tables has chairs with back support and the rest don't. Ritual coffe has a great selection of coffee from Intelligentsia and Metrix the day I popped by. The music selection is vinyl, and the inside is a bit tight. The nice thing is they have a beautiful hidden garden/patio to bring a tranquil moment to your coffee break. They have natural honey for sale from their own local hives. My second time at Ritual but this time I ordered the Cappuccino, it was good but the last time I was there I ordered their house coffee, it was a little weak for my taste. I love Ritual so much. I have become somewhat of a regular. Their chai is made from scratch which I have not seen very often. Get it in a latte, iced or hot and you will not be disappointed. They also always have really unique pastries (usually available toward the beginning of the day because they sell out. I assume they make them fresh daily) that are quite tasty. They have a breakfast bagel that is huge and really good. It's a pleasant place to hang out as well. I spent an afternoon drawing with my partner on the barstools near the window and it's a memory I am fond on. Highly recommend Ritual!! read more

This cafe is by far the most adorable cafe I've been to in Chicago. I got there at 8:15am and a fresh batch of cherry scones had just come out. I scarfed it down before the icing had hardened so it was perfectly warm and so delicious. I saw the owner making the pastries himself which is incredible. This isn't like Starbucks where everything is prepackaged and stale tasting. I also recommend an iced caramel latte. It's not super sweet and the flavor of the espresso is incredible. This cafe is also super dog friendly. The owner even knows some of the dogs by name which I absolutely love. So if you ever need to get a little work or homework done, this is the best hidden gem in the neighborhood so it's worth a stop! read more

Out of all the coffee shops I've been to so far throughout the city, their patio is certainly the prettiest! We did work there for a few hours and was able to enjoy it during the day and at night. It's right by the train tracks, but we didn't mind. The mocha that I had was super rich and chocolatey, so much that it almost tasted like hot chocolate! They use melted Belgian chocolate. Gave me quite the jolt! Aside from coffee, they also carry looseleaf teas from Kilogram Tea (via Intelligentsia). They had about 8 or 9 flavors you can choose from, like jasmine peach and hot turmeric tonic. Some of the selections are organic. They accept AeroPay. ICED DIRTY CHAI LATTE WITH SOY MILK was declared "the best drink in house, imo" by the barista (believe his name was Dylan), and only a fool would refuse it's creator's suggestion. Chai is made in house. A fine choice-- sweetness agitated my stomach a tinyy bit but I'm a sensitive lad so I'll ask for a little less sweet next time. I went there to meet a friend and it truly is a hole in the wall spot. There is no sign to tell you where you are, but when you go inside, there's a really vibrant ambience. This is a great spot to study or catch up with friends. we were able to get our coffee and food pretty fast after ordering. The jalapeño goat cheese scone was delicious. I sometimes come here to get work done because it's really close to my apartment. It's nice because they play great music, which isn't overly loud or distracting, and they have plenty of outlets. They have tons of fun vinyl albums and a record player going most of the time (it took a few minutes for someone to flip the LP). Very good coffee, tea, and donuts with various options of each. They had a cherry glazed donut, which you don't see too often, and it was very good. I got chamomile tea and it ended up being enough for two large mugs full. My wife had coffee and enjoyed it. Some of the tables have seen better days. Ours had a piece of wood that has pulled away and it was pretty rickety to try to balance tea cups on. read more

We wanted something to eat, but the shelves were completely empty. The barista claimed that they were all out. They still had six and a half hours to go. The cappuccino was average, but it was cold.
