This was one of my favorite theaters because it has the most comfortable reserved seating in the area. I took away one star because I do not like the fact that they are cutting corners and selling stale popcorn. It's a lazy practice to just have popcorn sitting out in buckets all day until it's sold and it's taking away from the nostalgia and enjoyment of grabbing a fresh bag/bucket of popcorn to watch a good movie. This is why people are staying home, popping their own and paying to watch off their own TV's. The movie experience is declining. Now on to the reason why I took off the other two stars. I was there yesterday evening at around 8pm to watch a movie. I decided to use the restroom before we got seated. Unfortunately some people are just lazy disgusting humans with no shame and don't care about leaving their urine and feces all over the place. I went in and it was absolutely gross in there. One of the stalls had poop smeared all over the toilet and floor. Now again, I get it's gross and nobody wants to really deal with that. However if it's a part of your job then you know you need to clean it up. The theater was not busy at all. There were minimal people trickling in so much so I observed multiple employees just sitting around literally scrolling on their phones. I ended up telling one of them who was sitting on the counter chilling on their phone that someone had a nasty accident in the bathroom. They did immediately get up to go tell management or whoever about it so it could get addressed, but the point is I shouldn't have had to notify them as they sat around doing nothing. This should be something that the employees themselves are on top of. It shouldn't be instinct to chill on your phone. If you have time for that, you have time to check the bathrooms periodically as the movies let out so the restrooms stay fresh and sanitized. read more

I've been coming to AMC Marlton for years now and can say that this AMC location is a perfect place to watch your favorite movies. Since it's renovations years ago, AMC Marlton has gone from a nobody to a contender when it comes to the movie-going experience. On its exterior, this theatre may seem outdated and old, but it isn't until you enter a theatre itself do you notice that this place is something special. While it may not offer IMAX, it does offer Dolby Digital, which in my opinion creates a better experience. Each theatre in this building is equipped with AMC's signature reclining seats, so you know that you can literally sit back and relax when viewing a film. An added bonus is that this location is a quick 5 minute drive from my house, which make it so convenient! With that said, whether your commute is 5 minutes or 50 minutes, coming to AMC Marlton is worth it. (Dune was also great and can't wait for part 2!! Let's go!!) read more

WARNING: BED BUGS! My experience today at AMC Marlton was anything but good. I ordered popcorn, and was eating it and after eating about a third of the popcorn I noticed a long black hair in it. It was not mine, as my hair is a different color and texture. I know this kind of thing can happen, so I took the popcorn back to the person who sold it to me and she gave me a new one. I did not make a big deal at all. About 45 minutes into the movie, I took out my cell phone to check a message. The light from my phone screen allowed me to see a small bug running across the front of my shirt. I quickly grabbed it with a napkin and shined my phone's flashlight on it, and realized it was a BED BUG. I know it was an adult bed bug based on its size, color, and overall appearance. I am a nurse, so I have seen these before. I'm also quite the germophobe and know that I didn't bring that bug in with me. It came from my theater seat. I ended up moving to an empty seat far away in the theater, and was so worried about the bed bug that I couldn't even pay attention to the rest of the movie. I was sick to my stomach. When the movie was over, I alerted the person in charge. I remained calm and polite and explained what happen. He listened and said sorry -- but that's it. I told him my exact seat number, in hopes that they could get someone to come clean the seat, but I'm honestly not sure if that even happened. I'm really hoping someone doesn't sit there after me and get bed bugs. So now after spending $20-something dollars on my ticket and food, I now have to worry about bringing the bugs home, which would cost hundreds of dollars to exterminate. I also have to get the inside of my car professionally cleaned and sanitized because there is a good chance I brought them from the theater and into my car seats. I tried to call corporate but they don't have live agents to speak to, so my only option was to email them. I hope to hear back from them soon. As it stands, I will absolutely not be coming back to this theater. This is now costing me more headache and money than it's worth. And yes I know this can happen literally anywhere, but the point of this review is to warn others before it happens to them too. Also, I did a quick Google search on this theater afterwards, and multiple people are complaining it also has a mouse infestation. Update: AMC is offering me one free ticket pass, and a popcorn and drink voucher. LOL like they think I'll ever return there. read more

The whole area to get sodas was covered with trash and spilled soda. The movie theater seats were cracked. The arms of the chairs were sticky from someone spilling soda. Went to see a movie today. There was a mouse in the theater. They refused to talk about the problem. I couldn't enjoy the movie with people freaking out every minute. And I don't blame them. I went out and said to someone is there someone I can talk to about a mouse in the theater. I got around to 4 people. Finally was directed to the manager who didn't want to hear what the issue was. And didn't address it either when I asked if they hire exterminators. My wife had the tickets on a gift card on her phone. And yet continued to ask me the question. Which led me to remind that can speak for herself so stop asking me for the ticket which you clearly know is in her phone 1 because I told you and 2 because you scanned her phone 3 times because you hs trouble issuing a refund. Remember the old days where you sat on top of each other at the movies...I'm so glad those days are over! The trade off is that it's hard to just drop in on a movie. You have too book your ticket online and pick your seats or you end up in the first row or not with the person you hoped to have by your side at the show. We picked a movie last minute that had seats open. Not really what we wanted to see but that's our fault for not planning better. The seats were new and super comfortable with electronically controlled foot rest and recliners. I'm amazed at how much space you now get at the movies. I love it! Unfortunately one of our chairs already had been torn but my friend was kind enough to take that one. We skipped the concession stand so I have no feedback other then I noticed they have the fancy coke dispensers you see at Wawa now. Bathrooms were clean and staff was pleasant. This is by far my favorite movie theatre in South Jersey! The plush, leather seats are super comfortable and fully recline for maximum comfort. You can book your seats in advance (which you should, if you don't want to sit in the front or along the edges) and then just show up at show time. I used to go to this theater as a kid. Boy has the movie experience changed since then. I love what this theater has done with itself and its great to see a place I frequented as a kid still exist out there. I love that you can reserve seats beforehand, so you no longer have to show up to the movie an hour in advance or get stuck in the 1st row. I also like how small the theater is. I didn't feel like everyone was sitting on top of one another. The snack stand offers a large selection of products from the standard popcorn and candy to bavarian pretzels and mozzarella sticks. Yes, the prices are still steep, but I feel like that is the norm at most movie theaters at this point. The new reclining seats with arm lift are awesome and very comfortable. My boyfriend and I were able to enjoy the movie while holding hands and not feel awkward. read more

Wait....movie seats are reclining la-z-boys now?! (can you tell its been a while since I've been to the movies?) The answer to the above question is; "yes....yes they are." And I'm ok with that. Going to the movies has apparently experienced a renaissance, and I am HERE for it. Gone are the uncomfortable, sticky crowded stadium seating. In its place are plush, clean recliners that I swear to god go damn near horizontal! Its going to be a chore to stay awake at the movies now. Gone is the, "standing in the dark at the front of the theatre for 5 minutes, squinting and whispering, looking for 2 empty seats next to each other. Now, you pick where you'll sit before hand, like booking an airplane ticket. (A medium popcorn and soda will still cost the Gross Domestic Product of Costa Rica, but hey, you can't win them all.) I particularly remember this AMC being one of the oldest theatres in the area, but they have revamped the inside to catch up to the times. I used to despise going to the theatres, but its seriously almost like watching at home, except my screen is now 60 feet, instead of 60 inches. (alright, maybe not SIXTY feet, but you get what I'm saying.) Everything was clean and the staff was nice enough, even accomodating me with allowing me to sit in the handicap seating row since the movie was nearly sold out and I was solo. I may just have to start budgeting movie nights into my expenses. I'll definitely be back. read more

AMC get your mobile website together! After attempting to see a movie a few weeks ago and having it sold out upon arrival then my second and THIRD selection sold out too I decided to get it together and buy tickets in advance online (even though it was $3 more). However it was impossible on my cell phone and iPad. I had to download their app which I promptly deleted after placing my order. So far it wasn't a very good first impression. However, my actual movie going experience was quite pleasant. When we arrived we were able to easily get our pre purchased from the machine in the lobby. The usher was friendly and directed us to our theatre. We got some popcorn which was $8.00 for a regular. It was fresh and tasty. We made it into the theatre and it was nice to already have our assigned seats. The theatre was small (only about 50 seats). The reclining seats were large and comfy. I was impressed how far back the seats reclined. The temperature was perfect for us. The sound and screen were ideal for watching our flick. I would return to this theatre again. I hope AMC gets their mobile website together though. I also think it should be *less* expensive to buy your tickets in advance then at the door. read more

IF the bathrooms weren't ALL in repair and not in use, this review w/b better. Yes, we were told prior to purchasing (and we heard the employees telling those who already bought tickets about refunds) but this really was an inconveniece. I don't even want to tell you what I did when I needed to go . . . Aside from that, this theater was one of the first in S. Jersey to have the AWESOME BIG RED RECLINING seats. I LOVE them and I usually take a blanket w/ me, like during this outing. The theater is pretty clean and the employees are decently nice, esp for younger staff. Of course the concession stand prices are a rip off but we all know that going in and smuggle in our own. Who doesn't?! I'm a member of the Stubs program, which waives online ordering fees and lets you earn concessions / tix $ savings. I'd highly reccommend enrolling. read more

This place was good, just not great. My wife and I normally go to Movie Tavern but wanted to mix things up after hearing some good stuff about this place. I was a little turned off when we arrived because the staff was huddled up talking to each other and not greeting people. When we got in line to get snacks the girl behind the desk acted like she didn't wanna be there and it felt like she was trying to rush us even though there was not a line. I was looking forward to the reclining chairs, they were comfortable. However, some of them smelled a little funky. Overall it was decent, worth checking it out if you like the chairs. Went to see Equalizer 2 this weekend with a couple friends at AMC Marlton 8's "AMC PRIME". This was my first time at the location, suffice to say i was extremely underwhelmed. The layout of this AMC is dreadfully cramped, concessions are jammed between two counters on opposite sides of the decided wings forcing people to loop back around through crowds of people trying to enter the lines or route into the movies. The theater interior was generally messy, and poorly maintained, which i can forgive on a Saturday night. Staff seems slow, and poorly trained. The greeter for the theater was unfamiliar with how to scan the AMC app QR codes for tickets, so the locations SECURITY GUARD had to step in and help her. Concessions line moved very slowly, ushers left an entire tub of popcorn spilled out into the "PRIME" theater room after previews and seating had already started. All of this i could perhaps forgive if not for the terrible movie viewing experience. First off, don't be fooled by the AMC prime badge, this location is NOT AMC prime, you looking at a re-badged Dolby theater with sub-woofer seats. Second, while im a fan of reclining seats they need to be done correctly, the "PRIME" experience here consists of not being able to see the screen if you even remotely recline in your seat unless those in front of you are fully reclined, and struggling to see the whole screen even if you don't recline depending on your height. I'm 6"1 and was struggling, i can only imagine what it was like for my buddies who i have a few inches on. Hardly the stadium seating advertised in all of AMC's marketing material. Oh and remember that poorly trained staff i mentioned? That feeds into the third major issue with my "PRIME" experience at AMC, whoever programmed the lights out for the film made a serious miscalculation, causing the full theater lights to be on the first 5-10 minutes of the actual movie, including all advertisements and trailers prior to the movies start. So yeah, if your 6"5, enjoy overpaying for a mislabeled AMC's dolby experience and like your movies well lit with a double dose of glare. You MAY find some enjoyment from AMC Marlton 8. Otherwise i'd suggest you look elsewhere, 1.5/5 would be a more accurate representation of my $16 "Prime" experience here, especially when compared to my preffered theater. read more

Will never go to another theater that does not have recliners ever again. Going to the movies have become more expensive and they cram so many people into a theather that it just was not enjoyable or comfortable. We actually waited for movies to come out so we could just watch in the comfort of our own home. Not anymore! The recliners at AMC Marlton 8 are nice and large and it feels like watching tv in your bedroom, just a lot better. You do get to pick your seats ahead of time so no scrambling to try to find a seat in the theater and if you do not like the seats that are available, you can always go another day to make sure you have the best movie experience. read more

This movie theater is awesome- if you can get tickets. If you want to go to AMC Marlton 8, plan ahead, as only the nose bleed seats are left the night of the movie. Of course you can buy your tickets ahead of time online, but be prepared to pay an online surcharge fee. This isn't a big deal, just annoying. Personally I try to go to the movie theater two days in advanced so I can get good seats and avoid paying any extra fees. They offer a membership card that gives you points for every movie you buy. Also if you are a member you don't have to pay any online fees. I think the membership is $12 for the year. They have a pretty good food stand- they have all the typical movie theater food- popcorn, candy, pretzels, soda, etc. They also have the new soda machines were there are 100+ drink flavors to pick from. As for the actual movie theater, it is wonder. It is nice and clean, and the seats are awesome. Big leather seats and the ability to recline makes for the perfect movie watching experience. read more

The theater is a bit smaller with only having 8 screens, but it has always been an enjoyable experience. Popcorn, pretzels, and drinks flow constantly :). Great renovations - bathrooms modern and clean with awesome new leather reclining seats. Tickets are only $8 for adults. Due to the renovations each theater holds a much smaller audience. There is only reserved seating whether you buy tickets online or at the box office. Come early or book ahead to pick your seats. Don't be that person who sits in someone else's reserved spot and expects them to trade with you. Overall, this is just another movie theater. Someone had preached this place as like the most awesome place on earth to me, so I was a bit disappointed. Food is crazy expensive, and you have to buy tickets for weekend show times days in advance, but at least those are the only cons. The seats are comfy and spacious, however they make really annoying noises when you move, so prepare to hear lots of inappropriate sounding leather screeches. This was my first visit to the theatre and I was thoroughly pleased. Although tickets are slightly more than most theatres, at $13.50 a pop for adults, the reclining leather chair experience really gives you an " at home " theatre experience. The seats recline all the way back and are easy to adjust -- it's perfect for date night, maybe not for a group of people as the seats are coupled. You also notice the leather seats take up a lot of room, so that may be why the price is marked up, they have to sell less tickets. The people attending were also respectful, didn't see anyone really talking or using on the cell phone which is awlways appreciated. Would love to return to this theatre read more

As good as it gets? Maybe if they added the full dine-in experience but around here it'll do. So no full bar or partial for that matter, but they have started delivering their available food and drinks to your seat (must be ordered at the time of ticket purchase). The reclining seats and purchasing and selecting your seat ahead of time is always a plus, unless you are looking for last minute seats - it's not happening. If you would like a drink before the movie, go to TGI Fridays and you won't need to park twice. Always nice when you are short on time. I have to admit I booked front row seats in error and being able to recline your seat made it bearable so keep this in mind if you are desperate enough. If I have time, I will always visit their Menlopark location in Edison otherwise this location will do. Also, don't forget to join their rewards program it's no more than $10-$15 however the rewards pile up fast especially taking into consideration how expensive their concession prices are. As far as reclining/reserved seats movie theaters go- AMC Marlton 8 is the best in the area. The prices of tickets and snacks are comparable to other movie theaters but AMC offers a stubs rewards card- for about $12/yr you can buy your tickets online and avoid the $2 convenience fee and earn points towards rewards every time you go. This theater has matinee pricing- so it is cheaper to go in the morning. The seats are by far the most comfortable type of reclining ones- the seats actually go all the way back and they are huge. The barrier in between each pair of seats goes up as well- perfect for popcorn placement. The staff here is super nice and I like that they have a self serving butter station for your popcorn! They also have the custom soda machines. The only strange experience I have had here is when I went in person one time to buy two R rated tickets for a movie later that day, to avoid the online convenience fees. However, the ticket seller wouldn't let me purchase more than one because I was only 18. I didn't understand this because they card you when entering the movies anyways and I could purchase as many tickets as I would like online. read more

This is a fine theater, well kept and clean, but I do have an issue with the reclining seats. When the seats were built, the rows weren't set in ascending height (so each row is higher than the one in front of it). This isn't much of a problem with regular seating, but in this case when one is fully reclined in the seat, the view of the screen is partially blocked by the seat in front (if said seat isn't also reclining)! So for the last movie I saw here, Ad Astra, I couldn't recline at all. And this, too, isn't much of a problem normally, but when these recliner seats are fully upright, they're a little higher than normal seats - which means your legs will dangle over the edge instead of touching the floor. Not an entirely comfortable way to spend two hours. read more

Wow, the AMC Marlton has changed since my last visit, eons ago! I love the reserve ahead system, the comfy chairs with plenty of cup holders, the space between rows (and your neighbor), the wide aisles! My only two gripes, and I know one of them isn't changing: the inability to use gift passes online, and refreshments prices. I had four movie pass tickets and went to book my seats online, only to find out that I had to go in-person to redeem. Come on, AMC! Give those passes a code, update your online reservations system, and we can all avoid the unnecessary advance visit to the theater. A small popcorn and small soda costs $11 and change?! Recently went to this AMC8 movie theater with my 11-year old son. This particular location houses 8 theaters (which is why the "8" is in their name but you may have already figured that out). We've both seen movies at this particular theatre many many times. It's about average - possibly a C- as to everything. The individual who prints the tickets is like a robot...The person who rips the tickets is usually a tad bit friendlier (probably because they are ripping something and letting out a bit of frustration which is a stress reliever in itself)....The person who gets us popcorn and candy usually has a blank stare and doesn't say much. But as I said it's not bad. There are always napkins available, plenty of butter in their butter pump and the salt and pepper is handy. The restrooms are clean and the theatre itself is clean and comfortable but it's nothing special and usually has the newest & most popular movies as soon as they are released. read more

The reclining chairs are overrated by now...they are already starting to crack, peel, smell, & malfunction. Be careful about buying extras in the theater.. A small popcorn for example can cost 50% of a ticket. I'd also suggest the theater introduce more security measures for the people who come into this place. I had to sit right next to this tweeker freak who reeked of cigarettes and couldn't sit still throughout the entire movie. I thought he was gonna snap at any moment, but this ruined the movie for me. On Friday, May 16, I used the Fandanco.com web site to purchase 2 tickets. These tickets were for the Saturday, May 17, 5:30 PM showing of Godzilla 3D at the AMC Marlton 8 Theater in Marlton, NJ. The tickets I purchased were for seats G12 and G13. These seats are listed on the Fandango web site as normal seats. There is no indication on the web site that these 2 seats are for handicapped patrons or handicapped companions, or I would have never reserved these 2 seats. My friend cannot sit in crowded areas, so these 2 seats seemed perfect. We arrived at the theatre at 5:00 PM, picked up are tickets, and proceeded to our seats. It was not until we arrived at our seats that we were informed (via a sign on the seats themselves) that these seats were intended as handicapped seats (or seats or the companions of a handicapped person). In any case, we took our seats, and began watching the movie previews. The lights dimmed, and the movie was about to start. At this time, the manager on duty came to use and told us that we needed to vacate these seats, because a handicap companion needed these seats. We were offered a seat in the second row of the theatre, which would not have been adequate for my friend's special need. We were offered tickets for another day, but we had already driven an hour for this show, making the offer impractical. The primary thing the manager seemed concerned with was ensuring we left our seats, as that is what she kept insisting on. She kept insisting that we discuss this issue outside of the theatre... her only concern was ensuring that the handicapped companion was allowed to sit in the seats that we had reserved. It was obvious that the person who wanted our seat did not reserve the seat in advance, as there would have been no issue had this been properly done. It almost seems as if the person used their handicap to obtain special privileges. I am fully supportive of equal access for all... but when people use a special classification to gain special privileges, I do not think this is fair. Why was I made to leave a seat that I had reserved in advance and occupied for over 1/2 hour? Why was I not informed by the Fandango web site that this was a seat designated for handicapped persons or their companions? Why was the handicapped person (who did not reserve their seats properly) given special treatment over me, who took the time to properly reserve and pay for seats? The manager's attitude was belligerent and insulting. I was made to leave the theatre and was exceptionally embarrassed, almost as if I did something intentionally to deny the set to a handicapped person. All she cared about was ensuring that I was removed from the seat so it could be given to the person requesting it. No one seemed to care about my right as a consumer. I was given a full refund, but I still am horrified and exceptionally embarrassed for the way in which I was treated as a consumer. This used to be a dump. Beige and brown decor. Low back seats. You name every bad feature about a 1980s cinema, this had it. Until about May of this year. I am not going to go on about the seats, because everyone else has. They are as good as advertised. Extremely comfortable. huge seats with ample space for people to get by even if you're fully reclined. You have never experienced such comfort at the movies, I assure you. That comfort comes at a price, though. While the tickets are reasonably priced, the installation of the new seats reduced audience capacity by half.
