Visited Rivals for a family gathering recently. We had a large group and made a reservation. Our server was fast and very friendly. There is a fireplace, which is great for the fall and winter months. It gives off a lot of heat too. Instead of requesting a dinner, I requested several appetizers, including onion rings, southwest rolls, and buffalo cauliflower. It took about 30 minutes for the food to arrive, but since there were so many people, that is understandable. Plus, the place was fairly busy. My favorite dish was the buffalo cauliflower. It was hot, delicious, and somewhat healthy. The onion rings and southwest rolls were just okay. My wife requested a burger and since she couldn't eat it all, she gave it to me. It only had grilled onions on it, but it was a superb hamburger. Very delicious! Great food, great service. Hopefully, we'll visit again! read more

My wife and I have been going to Rivals for years. However, yesterday is the last time I will ever go there. It was a beautiful sunny day, and we wanted to dine on the patio. The hostess refused to seat us on the patio. She said "oh, we can't seat just 2 of you, those tables are only for 6 or more". I informed her that we have sat on the patio many times before. After getting the check I was paying in cash and happened to notice a credit card charge added on to the total. The server said that is for people who charge their bill. The hand cut ones they used to have were better. The interesting thing is the online menu was a bit different than in the restaurant. And online they have a rewards/vip program you sign up for. We've been fairly regular patrons of Rivals for many, many years now. Used to attend wing night weekly (we like to change it up every year or so), Burger night was always consistently a good, quick, better than "fast food" before bowling night option. Can't say I've ever had anything bad off the menu. Service is always great, and the additional room in back and (now enclose-able) patio with bar were great amenity additions over the years. Our last stop was because the wife is hooked on the Beef Barley soup - one of several very good soup de jour - this one is Monday's. We opted to split the Italiano with the soup. The spice level could definitely go up a notch but I can't tell you if this is the consistent spice level every time. I definitely enjoyed this meal! My year old son loved the polish dinner and really really loved their sauerkraut! I'm pretty sure he would of ate the whole meal because it was delicious!! When I walked back there the bar maid was upset the staff was seating people prior to hercwiping down the tables that had been used. She slammed down something. I could not get her attention to pay so I walked up to the bar to get 2 boxes and 2 bills. I realize she was bust but if she is unhappy with her job she should quit.
