We had dinner at The Hooley Pub & Kitchen last night, and everything was excellent. I ordered a cup of French onion soup and the Buffalo wings. The wings were larger than the typical wings you get at most bars. They were served hot, fried perfectly crispy, and had just the right amount of Buffalo sauce. The French onion soup was absolutely delicious. It arrived piping hot, practically lava hot, with the perfect ratio of croutons to broth. The cheese on top was melted, bubbly, and nicely charred. It was so good that I was scraping the cheese off the rim of the cup. Our server was super friendly, checked on us regularly, and kept our drinks filled. I highly recommend both the French onion soup and the wings. We will definitely be back! read more

I used to really like this place ... then, they switched to soybean oil. I haven't been back since, but I went today because my usual spots were closed for the holiday. The egg rolls were okay, but what have they done to the bangers and mash? Everything was peppered with ... well, pepper. Even yhe sausages were coated in pepper. Sigh. I've been to many Irish places in my life but this isn't that. If anything it's Irish themed American bar food. Light on the stews, the coddles and the fish and seafood and catering heavy to American burger cuisine was a large mark against this local favorite. True to a pub it is packed with tv's, sensory occupying noise and beer, but themed restaurants are always downhill once they deviate from the theme. We enjoyed the burgers which were well cooked despite being smothered by too much house mystery sauce, enjoyed a pretzel and had absolutely phenomenal waitress cater to our needs but the ultimate reason we went was for Irish American cuisine and it was rather flat. 2 stars for the service as it was amazing. read more

I visited in early December 2023 with a date. It was my first time at Hooley Pub & Kitchen in the Strongsville location. We arrived for dinner (around 6:30pm I think) and we were seated at the bar because they were very busy. It's very large inside so if you arrive on a busy Friday night like I did, then you may have to wait for a table. I suggest snagging a bar seat like my date and I did if you don't want to wait for a table. FOOD -- They have an extensive menu so you will definitely find something that you like. My date and I both ordered the Norwegian Salmon ($23) which came with 2 sides. I got coleslaw and mini potatoes (tater tots) as my sides and he got broccoli and mashed potatoes with gravy. We both got the salmon slightly blackened on the skin. The Norwegian salmon was delicious and I highly recommend it. My sides were just as expected (fine) and I think I had to add ketchup to the tater tots since they needed flavour. Just like their other location off of I480, this place is warm, cozy, and offers a great place to watch the ball games. Great food menu, beer selection, and a full bar. Food is really good. I am not a meat eater but I decided to try their burger and it was so GOOD and juicy! I worked definitely try one again. I do have to say I'm not a fan of their fries, I like my fries soft on the inside and crunch on the outside these are more like chips. I wish I would have order the tater tots. My 3 kids, son-in-law, 2 Grandkids (age 6 and age 2) and I, Celebrated Mothers day at The Hooley At the Strongsville, Ohio location. I was excited to try their food. Our server Ryan?.. or Nolan?.. was very attentive and friendly. I asked for a booster seat for my granddaughter He inquired, and was told they didn't have any for the "higher" chairs.. I asked for a High Chair.. and he was told they would be too low for our higher table. We were offered a lower table.. but would have to be done by 3:30 as they had a party of 35 coming in.... So we stayed at our "high" table. We ordered appetizers: Potato skins, Boxty Tots and Buffalo chicken dip. They came out promptly and were pretty good. I ordered "The Crispy Chicken Chunks and French Fries. "Chunks?" is an exaggeration and should have been called "Chicken Bits" They were very small (the equivalent of cutting up one large chicken tender into 8 pieces) and not very crispy. The fries (flat planks) didn't seem "fresh" as if they had been re-heated.. and were "chewy" I was very dissapointed. My Daughter loved her Burger, her husband loved his Rueben, Son, did not care for the Shepherds Pie, (Which looked nothing like the online menu photo) and other daughter was very dissapointed in the "Irish Stew" (which again, looked nothing like the online menu photo) It was just shredded meat in lumpy gravy...NO potatoes,, NO Carrots.. NO veggies!! seriously! The menu was just a laminated page, with no photos to reference. Also... the Hooley website needs better photos that you can click on and enlarge. Outside of our awesome server, I was dissapointed overall. I know this location hasn't been open very long, but I don't think I'll ever go back. Oh.... I must mention the restroom... very, very poorly lit.. and the stall was nearly impossible to get into. After the cocktails, the kitchen served us our appetizers. There was 0 depth to the salad, and the skins were dry. Also, the wings had a strange pickle Taste to them. Our table could not process where the strong pickle flavor came from. Sadly, the entrees were no better. The fries were the worst that I have had in a while. Dryness is the best way to describe them. Lastly, the ratio of Turkey to bacon in the wrap was incorrect. I am a believer in 1:1 Turkey to bacon for a club. The Hooley was close to 4:1. The one upside was the service. If you are coming to the Hooley House for a game, you will not be disappointed. Ginormous, crystal clear screens abound. I ordered the fish and chips, and I was happy that they were crisp and tasty. They came with a mound of tater tots, which was appreciated. The cole slaw was sweet, although unexpected chock full of red onions . While the bar staff was friendly, they were not very attentive. They also struggled mightily to pour Guinness and Guinness drinks. It pained me to watch as the bartender kept scooping foam out of my drink. And scooping. And scooping. I was waiting for Jon Tafer to come in and start screaming about waste. The Guinness never quite settled, which was strange. I know they are new and still working some kinks out. Side note, if you have a paper menu, print the cost of wings on the menu instead of "market price" I can't believe that wing costs fluctuate by the hour. 10000% recommend!!! Here's why...it's Mother's Day and I had a reservation at another local restaurant for 6:00 pm for myself, my husband and my son. LONG STORY SHORT, they completely dropped the ball...and we walked out without even ordering. We checked a couple places and they were all on a 2 hour wait! (To be expected on a holiday). I was ready to just go back home and just forget about my Mother's Day dinner. My husband said "lets go check out that new place where Bar Louie used to be, The Hooley Pub"...So I walk in and THANK GOD, there were some open tables and we were immediately greeted with a smile from the hostess (who I later found out was one of the managers, Sarah, who assisted in saving my night). I told her what happened at the other restaurant and she immediately jumped into action and sat us and grabbed a server for us. Our server came over and greeted herself, "Bethany" and she was so sweet! We had drinks and appetizers before we knew it. The food and service was so great! I cannot say that enough. The entire staff was smiling, happy and just made us feel welcome. They completely turned my night around from the minute I walked in, but they continued to check in with me to make sure I was feeling better, going above and beyond throughout our visit and I just appreciate those ladies so much for that.
