We stopped into Cornerstone as part of the Brewery Passport. We were seated immediately and service was good despite being short staffed. Cornerstone is located in a beautiful building. The exposed brick and the bar are very nice. They had mostly guest taps. We ordered the couple of beers they brewed and they were good. We had already eaten so we didn't have a chance to try their food. There were other tables with food orders. It appeared based on a note on the menu Cornerstone has been struggling lately. We are regulars, order the sane salad with salmon every time. My salmon, which is usually very good was terrible this time, couldn't eat it. When the server, who was very nice, asked if I wanted a box I said no salmon was bad this time and I couldn't eat it. He said he would advise kitchen. When he told the cook the manager went over also. Server brought over bill and said sorry. Manager didn't take anything off bill. Can't believe he would treat regulars like this. We were trying to go to Mikes B&G up the block, but it was closed on Sunday evening. So we went here for the first time. Nice setting, bar, hightop tables, and regular tables. Very casual and had the football games playing. Beer and drink menus. Bar type menu with sandwiches, pizzas, and salads. All were very good at the typical price point of around 15$. Delicious fries. Early weeknight dinner on a cold blustery and overcast night. Hooked up with a old high-school friend. The place was busy, the sound level, elevated. We ordered the pulled pork sandwich on pretzel bread (w/fries), the salmon entree (w/mixed veggies and rice) and the fish and chips; plus beer, of course. Everything we ordered was really good. This was a nice place to happen upon. Rainy Saturday around 1:30 and my partner and I were able to sit right away and we chose to sit at the bar. I decided to stick with soda (coke products) and my husband tried their IPA and their Belgian beers. He said they were ok but not great, they weren't very aerated. The food was bomb, so delicious! We had poutine, and walnut apricot salad and a side of fries. The poutine was frickin good! The cheese curds are deep fried and the gravy was the perfect consistency. The salad was great too, very hearty! I just wish they cut the dried apricots so they weren't so big. I would definitely come back here and try more things from the menu! I do need to add that the women's bathroom was pretty gross. Didn't love that but the restaurant seemed clean otherwise. read more

Despite only having two servers and being one of the few restaurants open on a Sunday, bartenders and servers maintained their coolness and worked as fast and efficient as they could. Props to you guys! Also...one of the best menus for a casual bar. Onion rings were plentiful which is hard to find...places always seem stingy with onion rings. Crispy and delicious. Love that there are two different kinds of pretzels with one order. Salad was big and filling and love that the salad menu wasn't just house vs cesear. Stopped in for lunch right when they opened. Bartender/Server welcomed us in. We were the only three in the place but that quickly changed. Very good food but nothing extraordinary. Service very slow food arrival for an anticipated busy Friday evening.

In between baseball games and needed a bite to eat. This was a good choice for sure. If you have read my other reviews, you know that when a place isn't busy, it can have terrible service. This was exactly the opposite. Service was great and attentive for sure. One can tell they care about their customers. The location is in an old renovated space. I never got the chance to ask what was in there previously, but it was a bit rustic. Loved what had to have been the original floors. Food was well done. My son had a chicken wrap in which he ate up quickly. I had a black and bleu burger which was cooked perfectly. I mention this as the fact I asked for medium rare. Most places, it will still come out as medium or even over that, but this was perfect. To be picky, I would have liked a bit more cajun seasoning on the burger. I am not one for upcharges for things like fries, but this time I will live with it as the amount given, and the quality of the fries was very good. I have 'Seven' as a beer choice. I wasn't wow'ed by it, but it was a solid offering. I did like that they seemed to cover a ton of different styles of beer with their own offerings. Switched to a vodka. Our salmon clubs were served on small pieces of toasted bread which made it difficult to handle and if not for the bacon they would have been boring. Ended up finishing mine with a fork. Side salad had a lot of pieces of lettuce with brown edges, we brought it to the waitresses attention and she removed it from the table and the bill without saying anything. White pizza was good and the beers were too. Mediocre service in a decent setting with both high top and regular tables and an open kitchen. Might try it again no time soon. read more

We have visited the Cornerstone Brewing Company twice now, both with large groups (9 or 10 guests) and they were able to accommodate quickly both times. For a bar/restaurant the food is pretty good. It is also surprisingly kid friendly. They have a kids menu which offers your usual options, and they can provide the standard requests of Shirley Temples or chocolate milk! As for the adult food, the menu offers pizzas, burgers, sandwiches, salads, and several appetizers that are large enough to serve as meals. For bun options they also have a pretzel bun, which is a nice change. I'm not sure exactly what they do to the french fries, but they are addicting! Both times we have been to this restaurant, there hasn't been a single fry left on anyone's plate! Granted we visit during dinner hours, however, the atmosphere has not been too loud or rowdy. If you haven't been to the Cornerstone Brewing Company, I recommend checking it out. read more

Cornerstone was good. A small brew pub. Sadly, I was there in the morning so I didn't have any beer, and I wasn't really hungry yet, so I just got the root beer. Because I'm a root beer nut. We gave this place a visit after my son's football game. Neat little spot that was busy on this Saturday afternoon. We got right in and were seated. Decent house brewed beer selection which numbered around 9 or so. My first selection was the Harry Porter which was described as their version of a robust porter steeped in chocolaty and roasted flavors. It was pretty damn tasty and definitely got the hint of chocolate. The other beer I had was the 3 1/2 which was a Session IPA that I also found to be decent but again, I'm not good at pulling flavor profiles out of beer so you'd have to be your own judge. The food was pretty good too. My wife and I split a Three Little Pigs pizza which was marinara, provolone cheese, bacon, pepperoni and sliced Fontanini sausage. Crust was nice and crispy and the toppings plentiful. I also sampled my son's poutine and hoochie mamma was this good. French fries topped with brown gravy and cheese curds, how could you go wrong. While I didn't order one, I watched as they prepared the burgers and man did they look good. Juice just oozed from them as they plated them so I need to go back. Had a recent dinner here with a group of friends. The combined dining and bar areas are boisterous and lively making for a fun pub-like atmosphere. We also always enjoy an open-air kitchen area to see how the chefs do their thang! ;-) My wife and I were not super-hungry, so we chose to split both a bowl of french onion soup and an order of fish-n-chips. We sipped on some nice tap beers while we waited for the food to arrive. The French onion soup was actually more like a beer onion soup; it had a "muted" flavor, but was still hearty and filling. The typical richness of the broth was much more subdued, but the presentation and delivery were what you'd expect from a typical dish like this. The fish-n-chips were very good, especially the fries. Three smaller fillets were crisply battered making for a nice amount of surface crunch. The tartar sauce was tangy and creamy (as it should be!), and there was plenty of malt vinegar for both the fish and the fries (you just HAVE to put it on both, right?!?!?) The cole slaw was just average...a bit creamy but not much in the way of flavor. Had not been here in quite some time, but glad we had the chance to try it again. I was excited to bring my parents to this Restaurant. Everything was going fine until two neighborhood boys about 11-13 years old unsupervised came in and was harassing the tables around them thinking they were funny. The surrounding tables asked plenty of times To stop and the kids just kept going at it. My father mentioned it our waiter and he was like oh those kids come in all the time. He attempted to watch but didn't see anything being done. Near the end the end of our dinner they kept staring at our table we asked them stop. They bugged us for ketchup and salt and didn't have any food yet. It's such a nice local restaurant, however its a shame we will never be back because of the kids. read more

Date night with my kids was a hit. We ordered pizzas and they were delicious! I really wanted to try their burger but that will have to be another trip. The service was decent and the food came out pretty fast for pizza orders. I was glad to see they opened with social distancing in mind. They cleaned the up after each table with care. I ordered a beer cocktail, which I have never had before, and it was tasty. I was hoping to sit outside but it looked like it was going to rain. Maybe next time. Came here today for the first time. Beers were good, food was so-so, service was terrible. Two of us walked in and our server behind the bar told us to sit wherever...then she ignored us for about 10 minutes, even though she passed our table multiple times. The place was only about 1/4 full so not sure of the issue. When she finally gave us menus she just sat that them down and walked off...no greeting at all. Then when she brought our app she just sat those down too, while reaching over our drinks. Anyway, my salad was ok but my husband's burger was extremely greasy, so much so that he had to drain it. So, I'm very disappointed that I thought we had a new place to eat but sadly, we do not. read more

Cornerstone Brewing Company has a selection of American beers and more upscale bar food wrapped in a laid-back atmosphere. Patrons visiting the establishment can still see much of the original architecture, including the copper and tin ceiling tiles. Cornerstone also offers on tap year round their Grindstone, which is an American-style lager comparable to Bud Light and the Sandstone which is compared to a Samuel Adams-style beer. While I really wanted the Beer Battered Onion Rings, colossal slices of sweet onion battered & fried golden brown, served w/ ranch dressing & our Beer-B-Que sauce for dipping, I had to hold back. I sat at the bar and I had the following brews in my flight: Seven IPA (6.9% ABV) Sandstone Lager (5.5% ABV) Patriot Red Ale (5.5% ABV) Erie Blu (6.2 % ABV) Berea Brown Ale (5.7% ABV) Out of the 5 ales I sampled - my favorites were the Sandstone Lager and the Berea Brown Ale. Typically, lagers and brown ales are not my favorite styles - but both of these exhibited a complexity and depth of flavor I usually don't find in these styles. Thus, I enjoyed both of them. Stopped here for dinner tonight with the hubs. It was wonderful!! We had a short wait less than 10 minutes, we each got a beer, and a pizza. I had the Angry Gorilla hubby had the Seven beer both of which were delicious! The pizzas words cannot describe! I had gotten the white pizza hubby got the Southwest pizza and said it was on his was on his top 5 of the best pizzas he has ever had! The crust had on mine had such a good flavor I can't even describe. The total for 2 beers 1 tall 1 short and 2 pizzas $33 you can't beat that and we have pizza to take over for another meal. Decided to come here after looking at options in town now that school is out. My first impression walking in was feeling like I walked into someone's house, welcoming, warm, recognized right away with a smile and given the choice of where to sit. Our server was excellent, he was patient and warm and was willing to give me a sample of the ONooleys before I even bought a cup. I'm a huge Guinness lover and Irish so this fit my palate. I think this was better than Guinness, it was really good! My husbands family resides in Canada and when we saw poutine on the menu we just had to have it. Well it filled us right up! I ordered a Tuscan personal pizza and I couldn't even resist the urge to try one slice as I was already full. Baseball was on tv so I was watching this as well. This is an overall great place and a sweet hangout spot for some brews with your husband and/or friends. I spent a few hours after work here today. Being the hop head that I am, I ordered the Seven which is dubbed as a West Coast style IPA with an east coast flavor. Very hoppy front end that smoothed into a very enjoyable IPA. While there, I was able to meet Jay, the head brewer. It was slow in the bar area, so he was able to spend at least an hour talking with me about craft beer and brewing in general. Couldn't ask for a better experience. Jay runs a tight ship and could be seen checking on the registers and such. I also sampled every other beer they had on tap. I left with a newfound appreciation for every style they offered. When you become a hop chaser, other styles seem to fall by the wayside and you can get into a rut. I took this opportunity and sampled at least 8 other styles of beer and thoroughly enjoyed them all. Rowan and Grindstone were favorites, but each had a uniqueness that allowed them to be very enjoyable. Cornerstone harkens back to the time where neighborhoods had their own beer and breweries. This place is a a fine example of this. They don't distribute, they brew for their patrons and their local neighborhood. The bar is an English style pub design. It's a dark, cozy atmosphere with friendly barkeeps. Very comfortable and friendly. They also have an outdoor seating area! If you live in Berea or close by, this place is worth a visit. Jay has been in the craft beer industry for 7+ years and has a great passion for his beer and it shows. I will definitely be back. read more
