    Blackinton Manor Bed & Breakfast

We thoroughly enjoyed our second stay with Lesa at Blackinton Manor this weekend. We were in the…read morearea to move our youngest son back to school, and our oldest son and my parents came along. Lesa welcomed us when we arrived after dinner and made us feel at home with homemade baked goods and wine. Our rooms were lovely, and although the manor is two hundred years old, it has all the amenities one would expect in modern accommodations. The beds are extremely comfortable as well. Breakfast was a treat, a feast of local yogurt, homemade scones, tea cake, frittata, fruit, and ham. Lesa is the perfect host--warm, welcoming, accommodating, talented in the kitchen, and genuinely concerned with providing her guests with a wonderful getaway. Staying in her lovely home feels like visiting a friend. We will return whenever we are in the area. The Blackinton is a gem!!

Full disclosure: I know the innkeeper, so while I may be biased, I still think my opinion counts…read morefor something. I've stayed in several B&Bs all over the world, good and bad. If I believed any place I was reviewing was terrible I would never say it was awesome, so just because I know the innkeeper doesn't mean I'm sugarcoating my experience. I wanted to share that I think the Blackinton Manor is a lovely place to stay in the Berkshires. The hostess really cares about her guests' full experience. She strives to use locally sourced products whenever she can. She wants everyone to feel like they are comfortable and at home in her home, and I definitely felt comfortable here. And she makes yummy and hearty breakfasts. If you're lucky enough to be served the sticky buns, you're in for a real treat. Stay here. You won't regret it. Things to note: She does have a dog, who while friendly and gentle, is still a dog and will be at the Manor while you're there. So if you're not a dog person, this might not be the place for you. Also, if you have food allergies or restrictions, be sure to disclose them. She'll ask when you arrive but it's nice to let her know in advance so she can prepare for your stay and make your meal as yummy and accommodating as possible.

So glad we choose The Porches Inn for a much needed weekend getaway in mid-December. Conveniently…read morelocated across from Mass MOCA and downtown shopping and restaurants. Our room was cozy and comfortable with a spacious bathroom. We didn't take advantage of the heated outdoor pool and sauna but were delighted to discover a blues concert happening in Studio9 on the property. Looking forward to returning soon.

I have wanted to visit this inn since it opened. I remember reading all about it…read more It was fine. I feel it was expensive for what it offered. The breakfast that was included in it, though repetitive was fabulous and thoughtful. Bagels, cream cheese, lox, hard boiled eggs, yogurts, fresh juices, coffees and teas. We had 2 breakfasts and took the same things. Bagels, lox and cream cheese, OJ, coffee, eggs. There are a couple. of baked goods that were very disappointing. They should upgrade those definitely. The rooms were fine. We were automatically upgraded to a suite because we paid in advance and went mid-week. The bathroom was lovely, nothing to change. The hallways and rooms were a bit dated. Fresh paint, cool colors, but old. The room AC units were loud too. Was ok but wouldn't return. In the hallways there is great unusual art. Like what you would put into your own home which is cool and unusual. The colors they chose to decorate with were wonderful. But, for example, we had a painted old wooden floor with throw rugs. A bit uneven. Not something I'd ever put into our home. The grounds were very nice. It was nice weather when we were there, and we brought bathing suits but the pool was covered with leaves. They are expanding which is cool. Mass Moca is right there which is nice, and this was very centrally located which is also nice.

I am always just looking for a convenient budget room Nov 24-25, 2022 It was an inexpensive room, it was only $66 for the one night It was fine. Worth every penny of $66 There are two motel areas at this place. Brookside & Pondside. The Brookside area is adjacent to the reception office and alongside the restaurant. Pondside is across the street and just a row of motel rooms (with a pool, but it's almost winter here so that was closed up for the season). I stayed on Pondside in the Sweetheart room lol. I was my own sweetheart that night I guess. For some reason this room was cheaper than any of the other rooms and I just wanted cheap so I took it There were 2 doors that lead to the outside in this room. One had a window that did not have a shade. It had brackets for a shade so I draped a towel over the brackets to create a shade so I had privacy On this particular night, I was the only person staying on the Pondside area. Kinda spooky but quiet and definitely safe. This place is not in the 'hood. It's on a woodsy back road in the Berkshires Two out of the three times I tried to visit the reception area, there was a sign on the door that said they'd be right back. It was a holiday tho, probably wouldn't expect someone to be at the desk all day The bed was not comfortable. I don't have anything nice to say about the bed or the pillows. Or even the blankets. I wish I had brought my own The room was warm, and it was clean (but old and very dated). I actually really dig the tile in the bathroom. Did not use a spa tub I would totally stay here again if another good rate pops up on a day that I'm visiting. I think I'll try to stay on the Brookside next time

Buyer beware! You can't cancel reservations with this property. You will loose your entire stay…read moreif you try. They advertise many amenities that aren't available such as the restaurant ( not open for breakfast, lunch, and minimal days for dinner). Free parking is on a gravel, potholed parking lot. There is no body on staff. It's self check in and check out. This is a one star property at best. It's rustic and outdated. I've been trying to get 3 reservations refunded for myself and my family to no avail. These reservations were made with the property and they use Booking.com. They also are falsely advertising this property and are not willing to rectify the situation.
