The inn is generally lovely and well kept, unfortunately, we got bed bugs after our two night stay. There are a number of "lounge" areas with upholstered couches which is where I think they came from. We have never had bed bugs before and ended up bringing them back home after our trip. Wouldn't recommend unless they can share an exterminator report. read more

We accidentally ended up here, this Inn was not in our original plans, BUT I must say it was a very big blessing and we were so glad we did. The peace at this Inn was immeasurable and some of the views from this location are breathtaking. The view from our room was absolutely lovely and we very much enjoyed our time while we were there. Additionally, the owners, Lee and Charles, were very welcoming and made you feel valued as a guest. Perfect location for a wedding in the green Vermont mountains. Great location, in the nature, on top of the hill surrounded by great woods and green fields. Lot of space for wedding tent and great reception. The rooms are ... well.. a bit too much "IN" style. I have no complains for the location but the rooms were really a bit too small and might need a bit of renovation (especially the bathroom ... room #1). 75$ a night per person, if you are 4 in a room is a bit too much I think. There is lot of space for communal activities... relax.. and enjoy the surrounding nature. Comfy sofas and armchairs on the ground floor. WiFi Internet is complementary but the signal is very weak... available only if you are around the reception ... maybe one or two additional access points would make the trick. Breakfast is home made ... not exceptional.... pancakes were too thick for my taste... the syrup of course was GREAT!! read more

Cooper Hill Inn is in a wonderful location, a peaceful spot with stunning views. The grounds and gardens are beautiful. Lee and Charles are the most amazing hosts! They are accommodating, highly intellectual, well-traveled, and great conversationalists. They are also foodies, and Lee is a wonderful cook in addition to being very committed to sourcing locally. In fact, I think most of the vegetables they cook come right from their garden (in the back of the Inn)! My friends and I had a lovely stay here. Everything in our room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed some excellent wine and beer on the patio, with stunning views while the sun set, and had a great time chatting with Lee and Charles. They have great stories and know some very interesting people. At night, the view of the stars is incredible. And, if you stay a few nights, you will likely have a chance to watch the sun rise from an amazing viewpoint! They do a lot of weddings here, and I can see why -- it's an absolutely gorgeous setting for one. I would not hesitate to stay at Cooper Hill Inn anytime I'm back in southern Vermont! read more

This is not a fancy place. We had a family suite, which was reasonably priced. The room is clean, but simple. No fancy sheets, the bathroom is really dated and the blinds are out of the '80's. BUT. The owners, Charles and Lee are awesome. Really awesome. They are warm, bright, caring and really interesting. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. The coffee was...hot. Not fancy either, but it did the job ;^) We skied all day, got back, showered up (ok, the hot water situation needs improvement too), and sat by the fire reading until dinner. We had dinner downstairs. And it ROCKED. Lee cooked a Chinese buffet that was fabulous. We enjoyed every bite. And the beer and wine list was nice and nicely priced. We then retired to the family room for a movie. Slept well and again had a smokin' breakfast. Sat with Lee and Charles and enjoyed a wonderful, thoughtful conversation. Could have talked for days, but our kids started complaining. So, off to the slopes. Got back around 3ish, since they granted us late checkout. I had hurt my knee, so we puttered along and ended up leaving at 5:00. We truly enjoyed our experience and felt richer for it. read more

We came up here for a long weekend (late August) with a couple of friends, and had a fantastic time. The Inn itself is cute and down-to-earth, and the views from the front yard just CANNOT be beat. It was so nice to escape the city for a little bit and hang out in the fresh mountain air. The owners, Charles and Lee, were absolutely adorable and welcoming. Lee is an AMAZING cook - we attended her cooking class, which was really half history lesson/half cooking class. All her ingredients are local, and many came from their garden in the back yard, which was also really pleasant to stroll through. Charles knows his beer and wine, and had a good local selection at dinner. The breakfast was big and hearty, and Lee cooked up some great pancakes. The rooms were small, but they all had their own bathrooms, which can be tough to find at most cute little inns. And really, what more do you need besides a bed and a bathroom? The rest of the inn was decorated with some gorgeous antique furniture, and they had an amazing selection of books! I never thought I'd be complimenting an inn on its book collection, but there you go. Lots of science, history and fantasy. We spent our nights cuddled up in the (spacious and clean!) common room playing games and drinking wine. Overall, we had a great experience. The Cooper Hill Inn is set in a beautiful location, and Charles and Lee were very welcoming, interesting people. Hopefully we can go back someday! read more

The scenery was beautiful and the room, although small was comfortable. And there was no need for a large bedroom (there was a king size bed) because there were huge common areas. Lee and Charles were great hosts. But more than that, they were wonderful conversationalists. Both have strong backgrounds in economics and I loved talking to them. In addition, the four guests that we sat with at dinner were equally thought provoking and very friendly. We took two long hikes while we were there, and had ample opportunity for some really good picture taking. The charge included the room, a bottle of exceptionally good wine, a full service breakfast with a choice of fresh farm eggs or pancakes with the addition of either bacon or sausage purchased from a local farm. Lee is very big in supporting local businesses. Lots of coffee, plenty of other pastries, terrific hospitality. We also received a $30 discount toward dinner, which included three entries (shrimp, chicken, beef) an appetizer or soup and dessert. They were cooked by Lee who, aside from being an economist is a high quality Chinese chef. This was not a dinner made for a room full of patrons. This was specially made for the six of us and we were treated like royalty. After, we all gathered in a big living room with a fire going in the fireplace and talked some more, joined by a couple other guests we hadn't met before. There was some very stimulating conversation. And, by the way, the complaints I read about regarding wifi definitely did not apply in our case. We had no problem connecting and had exceptional download speeds. I would definitely go there again. Good job Lee and Charles! read more

I stayed here two weeks ago for the Green Mountain Adventure challenge. The Inn was very nice, with great views and comfortable rooms. The breakfasts were fantastic and Charles and Lee were wonderful hosts who helped us find our way around, recommended great dinner spots, and made conversation at breakfast. Yes, the rooms are small, but there are nice common areas to sit in and you aren't in the mountains to hang out in your room anyway. My wife and I would go back and will see if we can squeeze in a trip to this area in the fall. read more

Let me start with the Inn itself. It sits on the highest point of Cooper Hill. A marvelous oasis with breathtaking views and endless opportunities for picture taking. You can see for miles and miles -- all the way up until where the sky meets the land. The grounds themselves are worth the trip, but there are many other activities around both Dover and Wilmington that interested us including horseback riding, wineries, and shopping. We had a very comfortable stay with a great room which included full use of the house that offers a number of quiet sitting/reading areas, WiFi, a rec room with TV/Nintendo Wii/DVD, fireplace, deck, patio, and many other hidden treasures. Next, about our hosts -- Lee and Charles -- who made us feel like family our entire stay. From homemade breakfasts every morning to Lee's asian dinner, the food alone made us very happy guests. Our hosts took great care of us, educated us about the area, and are both fascinating to talk to. They keep their inn in impeccable condition with every little detail thought through. The peace and quiet combined with every comfort of home made this a relaxing, restful, and entertaining getaway -- just what we needed to recharge our batteries before returning to the city. read more

Our son was married this weekend in the garden at the Cooper Hill Inn and it was perfect. Good Lord what a terrible experience! My MIL booked us a quick getaway for after our wedding. Never mind that it took us forever to get there and that the fog and rain made driving hell, these two owners have no business sense! We arrived quite late and were hungry as we did not stop on the way. After a dangerous trek up the mountain, that foolish man suggested we venture back down to search for food. The room was so old and crummy looking. There was a musty smell that was hard to miss. Tiles were falling off the bathroom wall and overall, I felt like I was visiting my grandmother. The headboard of the bed was not attached. Every time we moved it went flying. The screen for the window fell off as we tried to get some fresh air. Bugs came in and dear hubby had to spend a good part of the night killing stuff. We resolved to leave the next day. Breakfast was not bad but it was painfully awkward. The wife is pushy and rude and although we tried to politely suggest we wanted to leave she fought us on it. Finally my husband said enough and told them we would happily pay for the night we stayed but to cancel our second night. They were suddenly very polite and said it would be fine but don't you know they charged us after the fact for the second night! They insisted we take a gift of wine and cheese and then when we got the bill there was an additional $75 charged for accepting the wine and cheese! It wasn't even GOOD wine and cheese! After a lot of complaining we were refunded but I personally intend to tell everyone I know about how awful a honeymoon I had thanks to the Wheelers. read more
