Found out about these cabins on groupon, bought it, and def don't regret it! Clean cabins, beautiful view of the frio river, and so many stars to gaze at night. The big trees are also something to admire. This is the perfect peaceful getaway from the city. Friendly and helpful staff also. Will come visit here again!

Rio Bella is a hidden gem along the Frio owned by an amazing family! The unreal beauty & versatility, make her the perfect spot for A N Y B O D Y! Families with small babies Families with toddlers through teenagers Families with no kiddos Just you Weddings, reunions, or just because you wanna, this place can accommodate it all-I'm serious! -No worrying about missing nap times, forgotten sippy cups or binkis (pacifier). With your cabin within walking distance to the water, going back and forth is a breeze! From the right cabin, I'd be willing to bet your baby monitor will reach the water, too ;) -having pre teens and teenagers can make picking a vacay destination tough, but trust me, they'll be into this place. With tubes, kayaks, stand up paddle boards, lilly pads, hammocks, and an overwhelming amount of space to explore, they'll be off and running as soon as you pull up! Basically, if you're into sun, fun, and being able to completely see your toes underwater, Rio Bella is a no brainer!! As I'm sure you can tell, I really love this place, it's just that damn good.

The front porch/balcony was the perfect place to read, watch the sunrise, and enjoy the birds. The "backyard" had a gorgeous view of the hills and had a picnic table, campfire, and bbq to make dinner and s'mores watch the sunset. The cabin itself was stocked with everything you need from kitchen utensils to coffee to extra blankets. Also, the living room had tons of entertainment like board games, movies, and books. Our favorite part of every night was reading and talking in front of the fireplace. The bed was massive and comfortable with cedar walls that made the room smell so cozy. Outside, there was a small clearing where we laid and star gazed, and one night a deer ran by us! Even the road to get to this place was absolutely stunning. My only suggestions would be better lighting in the bedroom, a bigger bathroom mirror, and curtains or blinds on the front windows. But I would definitely return here--we felt safe and it was wonderful in every way.

Great fun if you are into that sorta thing. One of the most beautiful drives in the lone star state. Motorcyclists populate the highway, so use caution but enjoy the drive... Now the lodges: made out of cinderblock with touches of local wood. Inside there are large kitchens with microwave, full size fridge, and stove. The cabin is one large room with wood floors, not separate areas. A futon that folds out into a bed is in the living room, directly behind that is a queen sized bed. Close to the dining table in the kitchen are the twin sized bunk beds basically in a nook off the wall. A bathroom with a stand up shower is off the kitchen (if you have a baby bring the portable tub). The back patio was great with a bed, benches, and adirondack chairs. Off the deck in the yard area was a patio table with umbrella and a charcoal burning grill. So, even though we had a large group in one cabin, we still felt like we had plenty of space. The owners of the cabin were extremely friendly and brought us a breakfast of homemade blueberry muffins, pecan bread, fresh squeezed orange juice and seasonal fruit. The lodges are in perfect proximity to Lost Maples state park, but away from all of the road noise. This is a place for those that like a hidden, cozy feeling, but still need more ammenities than camping(i.e. air conditioning!). My family will definitely be staying here again. Oh...make sure to stop at the store and load up on what you need...the closest full size grocery I believe is in Utopia about 20 miles away.

My partner and I went and brought four friends and there was plenty of space for all of us. Upon checking in, the woman that runs the place was more than eager to tell us anything we wanted to know about Concan, Garner State Park, and the surrounding towns, such as Leakey. Very friendly and personable staff. At the cabins we stayed at we could not have been more than a couple hundred feet from the Frio River, very beautiful scenery. There is a fire pit outdoors, but having a grill outside your cabin is hit or miss - we didn't have one, but our neighbors did. If you're betting on having one, call ahead to confirm first. The outdoor rules are a little strict (no music, no parking on grass, etc.) I was also confused as to why there was a $30 cleaning fee in addition to your reservations fee because you make your own beds, wash all your dishes, and take out your trash before you leave. Not sure what the cleaning fee was for aside from cleaning the floors. Aside from that, we had a really great experience. The location was idyllic, everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful, and we had a blast. We'd love to come back.

Utopia is a tiny little town and Sabinal River Lodge is at the edge. It is a minute drive to town where you'll find a few small cafes and other service stores. The Sabinal River Lodge itself is homey and rustic. It was an enjoyable stay for us. The room we had was spacious with two comfortable queen beds, a small kitchenette and a 4-person table with chairs. It seemed pretty newly refurbished. Everything worked well. They have very basic things in the kitchenette, so don't expect to cook much other than microwaving or using a small pan on the stove. There is no oven and there were no pots. I liked that they provided a new sponge and dish soap though! The fridge is also mini size. But if you're not planning on cooking much, all of this shouldn't be a problem. The cafes in town actually serve food that is affordable and delicious. Apart from sleeping, we didn't really get to spend time at the lodge to enjoy the view from the patio in the back or the outside area. We saw several deer on the property at night, but I'm sure there are other critters to see around, too. The room rate was $135 per night and the check in/out process was easy. The people we interacted with were friendly and because it is a small place, it felt very familial. If you ever find yourself in Utopia, I'd recommend this place to stay!

It's right on the Sabinal River, and is a many-generational family-owned business. Clean, comfortable, great beds, and country stylish, the folks that run the place aim to please and enjoy serving their guests. Brandi is sharp, charming and truly cares. First day we made ourselves some coffee, and relaxed from travel by spending the morning sitting on the deck, watching the hummingbirds and cardinals at the feeders, and a variety of other birds flitting through the trees. Peaceful. One in our group made a point to swim by the dam in the river a couple of times, and enjoyed speaking with some of the folks who were fishing. The kitchens are well-outfitted, and the rooms have dining tables for comfortable eating, or card and board games! There's also a pool table and a barbecue, which we made good use of. A lot of care has been put into creating a comfortable relaxed environment. Highly recommended. A worthy place to get away from routine. Feels like home.

The sites are wide, level gravel and each has a big charcoal grill and picnic table. Half the sites are pull-thru, half are back-in. There is no television signal in the valley, but there is Dish equipment you can get from the office at no charge. Highly recommend it. Towing on Cty Rd 348...I would recommend only doing it from 83, which is kind of a wheel-gripper itself. 348 coming from 127 in Concan would be a nightmare. Once you're unhooked and settled in, take a drive across the river on 348 and you'll see what I mean. You'll love this park, and you'll love the owners. Don't forget to buy some corn for the deer and Rio Grande turkeys when you visit the office!
