I would give them a 10 out of 5 stars if I could! I bought a suite of THOR kitchen appliances in 2022. BIG MISTAKE, I've had nothing but problems with the oven and with Thor customer service. I've had four technicians come out to fix problems with the oven and fridge, none of which were fixed properly. Finally, Thor had River City come out. Ryan and Antwan called ahead to let me know they were on the way, were professional and courteous and fixed the oven door in less than 20 minutes. While they were here, I mentioned that the Thor icemaker had stopped working the first year, and while Thor sent me a replacement, they refused to send anyone to install it. I said I'd definitely call them when I remembered where I put it (LOL!), and about 15 minutes after they left, I found it! I called the office and they were able to send Ryan and Antwan back SAME DAY to install it for me at a reasonable price. Definitely keeping River City in my Rolodex! Hoping I don't have to call them anytime soon, but nice to know I found a reliable, honest repair service at a fair price. read more

I took my KitchenAid mixer, which I've owned since 2007, to this repair shop. They said they adjusted the speed control, but the machine still growls and wasn't truly fixed. Even worse, it was returned with the enamel gouged and several of the bottom rollers missing. They admitted they couldn't even find two of the rollers. They did however, say that they would order new ones for me. It's obvious my appliance was not handled with care. I trusted them with a beloved, well-kept mixer and it came back damaged and incomplete. Sadly, I would not recommend this business and would advise others to look elsewhere for repairs. read more

The repairman went through my non-heating dryer and couldn't find anything wrong. Then he discovered it wasn't getting 220 volts as required. It turned out an electrician repairing another issue had made a mistake. The electrician came out the next day and corrected the issue ( for no charge). Unfortunately, that didn't correct the problem with the dryer. It still didn't work. Rivercity refused to come back out. They said they needed proof the electrician had corrected the electric issue. In other words they thought I was lying. It took a couple of days to get an email from the electrician but I still haven't heard back from Rivercity but do I want them back ? NO. Who wants to do business with a company that treats you like a liar? read more

Will NOT use again. Over-priced. Recent washing machine repair was $125 service fee + $130 labor = $255 for 15 minutes. That's either $130 hour or $520 for the hour (130 x 4)! When I called after, the woman said their labor rate "depends." What business doesn't have a set rate? I cannot trust them. We had been repeat customers, but no more. There are several other places listed online with more reasonable rates. read more

My fairly new washing machine completely broke and wouldn't turn off. (It's an Amana, and I've only had it like 14 months) The repairman came out the first time and examined it to determine it was the motherboard. They had to order the part and come back. So I had River City come back to my house with an appt. two times. Both times they were on time and very professional. They repaired the machine and so far so good. They called to let me know they were on their way to the house and were always very curteous. Even the office called a couple times to let me know what was going on. I'm very please with my service. I reached out to River City Appliance via Yelp on Tuesday Evening. I received a reply the next morning. My GE Profile refrigerator/freezer had stopped cooling and I needed it fixed ASAP so I could salvage as much food as possible. River City was able to come out before noon. The technician was careful to protect my hardwood floors as he pulled my refrigerator out. He quickly diagnosed the problem and left to go get the part and quickly returned to install it. Voila! My refrigerator is working great! The price seemed reasonable, much less money than buying a new fridge! The Technician was very friendly, knowledgeable and careful. Any refrigerator breakdown can't be serviced soon enough. The technician was here in less than 24 hours, did the analysis of the issue, and repaired it in an hour. I could hardly expect more. He had a replacement compressor and all the right tools. I don't often need an emergency repair, but this job was done at a fair price. What more can you ask for? I called River City Appliance when our refrigerator, which came with our home that we purchased, started acting up. I had an appointment for a Wednesday afternoon and had to rearrange my work schedule to be home for the four hour potential service window. Unfortunately, my appointment was canceled the morning of due to the technician being sick. I understand that life happens, but this was definitely frustrating as I had to rearrange work to accommodate the appointment. The next available appointment wasn't for two weeks, but luckily fell on a day in which I did not have to completely miss work. The day of our appointment arrived, and I made sure to stay home for the duration of the four hour service window. Our technician showed up 15 minutes after the end of that service window. Again, very frustrating to waste time, sitting around with no communication from the company or the technician. The technician, Joe, spent all of about five minutes looking at our refrigerator only to decide that there was nothing he could do in the moment and that he would need to contact his parts department to see if he had the necessary parts to repair our refrigerator. When I asked him if repairing this particular part of our refrigerator would "solve our problem", he shrugged and said "I don't know". The quote for the service call and the part was over $500 and I wasn't willing to pay that amount of money for an "I don't know". So I paid $125 for the service call fee and sent Joe on his way. I understand that services like this can be expensive but without a guarantee of his work or the product he was replacing, it seems a little foolish for such an exorbitant quote. My husband and I just decided to get a new refrigerator and chalked that $125 up to a life lesson. read more

I contacted this company to repair a problem with my KitchenAid refrigerator. Some of the lights were out, and I understood this was a common problem in the model I had, and it required the replacement of a bulb in the freezer compartment. I am elderly and disabled and requested a technician to come and repair this. The receptionist told me that they needed a trained technician to verify the problem and schedule a repair. I like to shop locally. I wanted a better response from the receptionist. But, as I said, it's not unreasonable to have an evaluation, even though 99% of the time, it's a known problem. They sent an incompetent technician who proceeded to break a light in my refrigerator and said six lights would need replacement at a cost of hundreds of dollars. A family friend came over for dinner a few nights later and looked at my fridge. He said the technician was incompetent, and he could quickly fix the damaged light and replace the culprit light in the freezer, which he said any decent technician should have understood and taken care of during the initial visit. It was considerably less expensive, though it would have been even less if he had not needed to repair the connector and replace the damaged light. Hundreds of dollars of work was clearly unnecessary, and the problem was as I suspected. I took a photos to document the damage, asked the credit card company not to pay the charge, and submitted the evidence. They accepted my evidence and denied the payment. Recently, the business has been sending me a bill for the visit by the destructive and incompetent worker, and the company is threatening me with collection. I feel they were out to rip off an elderly disabled widow and are still trying to take advantage of me. I strongly suggest you do not use this repair service at all. read more

I saw an error code appear on my Speed Queen washer, rendering it useless. I contacted Speed Queen who contacted River City Appliance (the Fulton Avenue location) and said that I would get a call from them in the next 24-48 hours. Within an hour after my call to Speed Queen, Carey phoned me from River City. Technician Josh then called me to make an appointment, and he was at my house less than an hour later. I am blown away by River City's excellent customer service! Josh thought he knew what needed to be replaced, and had it in-hand when he arrived. He made the repair, and my washer resumed operating just as it should. I'm crossing fingers that all my appliances will remain working perfectly ;-) But If I EVER need an appliance repair again, I won't hesitate to call River City Appliance! read more

I called to have my refrigerator repaired. The technician Ryan came out and diagnosed that my heater defroster was bad and needed replaced. He was there for about 5 minutes. Ryan also stated that the compressor goes out on these before 10 years and I would need a new compressor eventually once this once went bad. He said this a few times. If this was not the issue, I'm not sure why he would continue to tell me it would need to be replaced once it goes bad that these refrigerators are know for compressors going bad. The heater defroster had to be ordered and they had me on the schedule for a different technician coming out to replace it. I called the office several times that day to make sure the part came in and to make sure the technician would be out the same day. The office girl Janelle assured me someone would be there for the repair. The technician Joe called late that evening and I missed the call. I tried calling him back about 15 min later and he would not answer. The next day Ryan came out to replace the heater defroster. The refrigerator was working for about 4 days and the refrigerator stopped cooling again. Ryan came out the following day to tell me the compressor was probably bad and I may have a leak that he would need to come out and test it the next day. I had a vet emergency and called the office and they told me they could not come out for several days now. The office told me they would call me the following day to try and fit me in since they have been out a few times already. I never received a call and only emails. They finally called several days later. By this time I had called another company to come out. The company told me that the compressor was bad but it's likely that the heater defroster did not need to be replaced and this should have been diagnosed the first time that the compressor was faulty but there was no leak. I spent almost $1000 to get my refrigerator repaired and the compressor was covered under warranty. River City told me that the compressor was not completely covered under warranty only some of the parts were. They wanted to charge me another $700 to repair the compressor. I ended up spending $400 for a part that was diagnosed incorrectly. Call another company before you call this one! read more

I had an issue with low water flow on my LG refrigerator. LG called River City Appliance to respond to my warranty claim. It turns out that my issue likely wouldn't be covered by the warranty and that there would be a $125 charge since the house's waterline isn't covered by the warranty. Their dispatch called me to explain that to try to give me a heads up about the costs. Sounds fair to me, I just want my refrigerator fixed and don't mind paying for the repair. Their dispatch assured me their serviceman would be capable of making the repair. Well the serviceman showed up, spent about 5 minutes examine the waterline and said he can't fix the issue and charged us $125. I'm not exactly sure what I paid for. He gave no recommendations on whether we need to hire a plumber, another (more capable) appliance repair business, or offered to schedule a follow up date to fix the issue when he is better prepared. $125 for literally nothing. read more

Absolutely love the service. I made a call to numerous companies and they kept giving me 2-3 month time frames. I called River City Appliance they scheduled an appt for the following Monday. The young girl on the phone was so nice and informative. She explained your price for them to come out and what to expect before and after the fix. Ryan came out that following Monday. I am a very happy repeat customer of River City appliances. I had a problem with my Subzero refrigerator. The bottom of the refrigerator was freezing up and the top shelf temperature was 10° higher. Josh was able to assess the problem of the fan not working. He' was able to take the fan out, clean it up and put it back in. He repaired the problem in less than two hours. LG informed me to call River City back and give them an authorize service code. I've now been waiting over month, due to River City Appliance's lackadaisical approach in fixing my fridge which was purchased from Fry's January of 2020. I've already had 3x Technicians come to my home and it has been over a month. My fridge is still broken and I've been living out of a mini cooler for the last few weeks. What frustrates me the most is the poor customer service I've consistently received; truly seems like an apathetic group of people who only care about collecting their paychecks. I promptly received a call from them to confirm the refrigerator model so that they could make sure that they had the necessary parts on hand and order them if they didn't. This place is great. My LG refrigerator went out at 5 years. Between Carry in the office and Joe in the field, they got me taken care of quickly and got the parts and labor covered by LG.
