    Pot pie

I always stop by a brewery if stopping in a new town. River City brewery was the Wichita stop. We came in for dinner on a Saturday night during the holidays. It was slammed! The wait for a table went quickly, quoted 45 mins got us sat in less than 30. Holiday decorations were obnoxious, which is what they were going for. The service was pissy. Slamming down drinks and barware. It was busy but don't take out on the guest who just sat down. Food was adequate for a brewery in a college town. The waiter helped decided between two meals and it turned out as a good choice. Chicken pot pie was more like soup than a cream sauce, but had decent flavors. They had a lot of holidays cocktails, I should have tried, but it was a brewery so had to have the beer. The holiday IPA was better than all year IPA. I gave three stars for the decorations effort and the variety and good food on the menu. I would like to go back and try outside the holiday time.

Large restaurant in a charming historic building. It was very busy at lunchtime on a Sunday. Decorated to the max for the holidays . I ordered the pork belly lettuce wraps. I loved it. The pork belly was crispy and had a flavorful (not too sweet and not too spicy) sauce. The carrot slaw had pineapple and jalapeños. It was also served with sliced radishes and jalapeños. It was all fresh and crisp. My dining partner let me snag a few French fries that were hot and crispy and well seasoned, service was spot on.

Yummy pizza, excellent customer service, nice patio seating with misters in the hot July sun. Also, the emerald stout and tornado alley are recommended if you're thirsty.

Ho Ho... Hmm: A Tale of Festive Flair and Fair Food River City's holiday popup is like that one neighbor who wins every Christmas decoration contest - absolutely crushing it in the sparkle department, but serving cookies that are just... okay. The main floor is a winter wonderland fever dream in the best way possible. Santa clearly emptied his entire workshop here, creating themed sections that would make even the Grinch crack a smile. Pro tip: Make reservations unless you enjoy waiting longer than it takes Santa to visit every house on Christmas Eve. We lucked out and got seated in the "Tipsy Penguin" upstairs - which apparently now serves food, despite what every sign, menu, and probably some ancient prophecy says. Our server was running around like an elf on December 23rd, bless her heart. The food? It's the Christmas gift that makes you say "...oh, thanks" while trying to look excited. The mac and cheese variations were basically fraternal twins - one just wearing buffalo sauce and blue cheese. The chicken pot pie had a crust worthy of Mrs. Claus but filling thinner than a budget Christmas bonus. Our cheese curds played hide-and-seek, finally appearing after our meal like a late Christmas card in January (though they did comp them, props for that). Cocktails come pre-batched, so forget about mocktails - it's all-in or nothing, like Christmas with distant relatives. Beer selection was... present. Bottom line: Come for the decorations that'll blow up your Instagram, stay for... well, just the decorations. We'll be back when it's not holiday season and the kitchen isn't trying to feed the North Pole. P.S. Those 90-minute table limits are enforced like Santa's naughty list deadlines.

    Brisket Sandwich And Fries

As I was visiting to Old Town to see that The Anchor Bar And Grill had permanently closed due to not paying their taxes, I've had to stop there and see that The Anchor Bar And Grill in Wichita is permanently closed as it was empty. After that, I went to one of my favorite restaurants in Wichita, The River City Brewery, from there I usually go for their fish and chips which were the best part, however I went with their brisket sandwich which is melt in your mouth perfection, the inside of the restaurant is amazing as you're actually in a cellarer with people inside of it and it will give you a fresh reminder of a beer cellar except that it's a restaurant, I highly recommend going to this place, it will bring you the best in breweries in Wichita.

The true star of this brewery is Brooke at the bar! She was phenomenal and made a lot of very amazing drink recommendations! She was attentive and was very good company! They also have various infused spirits they use for cocktails and they were quite delicious! This place is a vibe even when it's not busy! Highly recommend!

Buffalo mac and cheese, with bacon and fried chicken

Had the Buffalo Mac and cheese with bacon and fried chicken. The noddles are shells and it was very tasty. The service was ok, not amazing, not bad, but they appeared to be pretty busy so I'm guessing that's why. Recommend though, delicious food.

We had the spinach and artichoke dip with sourdough bread and cucumber as an appetizer and surprisingly loved it! We saw the table next to us get an appetizer that we of course we're not familiar with, and our waiter told us what it was and so we tried it, we are SO GLAD we did! It's hard to describe, but the combination was delectable, and the bread was cooked perfectly. He ordered the Hot Honeyed Chicken Pimento Cheese Sandwich and thought it tasted really good! I gave him my brown sugar bacon and he said it perfectly complimented his sandwich and went together to a tee. I got the "Train Wrecker" and it was DELICOUS with a D! I'm not a big bacon lover and so I gave my bacon to my husband, but I believe the glaze that was on it complemented the sandwich. It was delectable! Also, our waiter was very friendly and seemed glad that we had a good first experience. We liked it so much, we ordered it to go for dinner, with the exception of getting a salad instead of a sandwich for my husband. We weren't as crazy about it when we did carry out, but in their defense, the sandwich had cooled down and wasn't as fresh by the time we got back to the hotel. I still ate the whole thing and although we weren't as crazy about their salads, our sandwiches and appetizer were delicious!

Whether you're stopping in for dinner or…read moremaybe just for a drink, Bricktown Brewery has plenty to choose from and delivers a great experience. There are easily 30 beers on tap/chilling in the fridge, ranging from local to national brands, with a great supporting wine and cocktail menu. The beer is cold and hits just right, plus it sets you up to order off that strong menu. From handheld to pizza, Bricktown has lots to choose from. I opted for the Rodeo Burger, a big burger topped with an onion ring, sliced jalapeños, bacon & BBQ sauce. Wowza! Fabulous burg, can't recommend enough. I washed it back with a Left Hand Nitro milk stout, which is maybe a touch heavy, but it's fall and it worked right. Alex, our server, was super quick and attentive; food came fresh and ready, clearly not off a warmer, and the turnaround time was superb! The place has some high ceilings, and with plenty of screens to pay attention to, it might get loud during a sportsball session. But there's plenty of seating, both in the dining area and at the bar, and the decor fits not only the theme but the space. Easy to park, seating is quick, they're open until at least 9:00 daily, and the seasonal specials are definitely worth a look when you stop in.

They posted some special additions such as prime rib so we decided to give it a try. The buffet itself was just a step up from a free hotel breakfast with the addition of salad, tomato/cheese skewers and cake. My assumption was the prime rib would be a traditional hand carved piece of meat, nope. I thought it was odd when the server asked if we would like prime rib and she would bring it to the table. She even had the nerve to ask us how we wanted it and we said medium. What came out was a thin piece of tough overcooked what looked to be skirt steak. It was pathetic at best, an insult at worst. For 3 adults with tip our bill was $170. 3 buffets $41 each, $6 each for 2 cups of coffee, tax and a 3% service charge with no explanation. The service was fair but I don't blame the server as she had too many tables. I wouldn't recommend and I wouldn't go back. Overpriced for substandard food.
