This was my first time at River City Roll, and it has gone on the list of things to do when I am in the Richmond area. I will honestly even make the trip up just to come hang out at River City. When you walk inside you have a hostess stand where someone is waiting the help you out. Everyone that we had contact with employee wise were great. Everyone was helpful, kind, and professional We ate first while we waited for our lanes to be open. There is absolutely no complaint about the food here. Everything was great. I had a BLT sandwich. It was jam packed with crispy bacon that I asked for, lettuce, tomato, mayo sandwiched between 2 thick slices of bread. The pizzas looked delicious. They are made in a fire pizza oven. All of the food came out piping hot. Out waitress was great. She was attentive and made sure everything came out, and our drinks were always filled. The waffles were a perfect sweetness, and had a good amount of berries and paired with syrup that I think was maple syrup. My friends, and husband raved about their drink with alcohol. So kudos to the bartenders. The dry rub wings had a great crispy to them and they did not lack seasoning. Lastly, get the cheddar biscuits. They are made fresh, and had great flavor. They had scoop of butter, grape and strawberry jelly. When it came time for bowling. Our bill and drinks were transferred over to the alley tab. Our shoes were waiting for us at the lanes. Bowling was a breeze, and navigating the computer system to keep score was easy. The seating in the alleys were leather couches, and a table to have food at. There was a waitress walking around getting anything we needs, like food, drinks or problems that needed to be solved. Bathrooms were clean and amusing with signage. It made me giggle. The supplies were well stocked. The alleys and property inside and out were very clean. The surrounding area seems to be making a change, but it is still questionable in some areas, and there is a lot of construction nearby. I always felt safe though. There was a misunderstanding with the reservation process and turns out we never had a reservation. Either way Ben stepped up and just made things right. He was great. He took care of us. I went to River City Roll for a Sing-o event they were having. The music was great and really catered to the crowd. The service was wonderful and I cannot say enough great things about the bartender who helped us. We got several drinks and they were all great. I was starving so I devoured my crunchwrap. It was very filling and the side of pico de gallo was pretty good. Every time I've been here, I've had for drinks and a fun time. We had an amazing time bowling as a family during brunch hours at River City Roll. While a couple of food items were listed as gluten free, I did not feel comfortable eating them as someone with Celiac after talking to the staff about preparation (reason for 4 stars instead of 5). However, the rest of my family enjoyed the food. The prices were not unreasonable for the experience and quality of food and facilities. I highly recommend going early, close to opening, if you don't want large crowds. We had the place almost to ourselves but it was packed by the time we left. I love a multifaceted space. At River CIty Roll, you can get good food, have fun, listen to good music, and catch a great vibe! The food here is actually a winner (not even a thing at any other bowling alley) - I highly recommend the garlic roasted hummus and literally any of the pizzas - brick oven, y'all! I recently booked an event here for my non-profit and the wings, fries, & pizza were amazing! The service is consistently good and staff is eager to give a little feedback and ensure you have a positively memorable experience! I've also been to quite a few events here - Commanders, music events, vending opportunities, and performances - and the space is perfect for that, too. Parents, there's a spot for you and the littles on the patio. Dog "parents", there's a great space for you and your pup on the outside patio. Family time! Another awesome night at River City Roll! We are always greeted immediately, seated, and served right away. Customer service is always a pleasure. The Food is soo good. My parents orders the Shaved beef grilled cheese which they loved and expressed how they were shocked at the taste expectations! If you are looking for a fun place with good food, go here. But for real, I had a 4 star review bc of a few experience drawbacks, but upped it to 5 stars as I remembered the food. So so so good! Can you beat a place that has a DOG SHAPED ICE CUBE?!?!?! If you are a dog lover in Richmond you probably know the story about Tommie the pitbull who was set on fire a few years ago. Team Tommie became a thing and this place is a big supporter. The Tommie Tail cocktail shares some proceeds with RACC and has the dog shaped ice cube! I only had one bc I didn't actually care for the drink, but c'mon! The pizza was DELICIOUS! For real, the pizza that has the fontina cheese and hot honey is enough to get me to come back.....and I don't live near the city! If I did live near here I would be eating this pizza once a week. The other pizzas were also very good. As were the truffle fries with a grilled scallion aioli that was out of this world! Edamame wontons were fabulous. Man, as I am writing this review I am realizing the food here is TOP NOTCH!! Even if you don't want to bowl, go eat here! They have an outdoor patio you can eat at also. I've been here a total of 3 times. My first time here was with my son for bowing and pizza! We both enjoyed the pizza (and my kid is picky!) and we had a blast bowling! He loved the neons lights and the light up lanes. 2nd time here was to see a local band and we reserved a booth near the stage. Do yourself a favor...don't reserve the booths there. The walls were too high up to even see the band playing and it gets very hot in there and it was only 3 of us and we were spaced out. Reserve a high top instead! They have clear views of the stage and venue. My friends and I ordered apps to split. We had the truffle fries and lodes tots. Great choices when you're there for drinks. 3rd time we came to see the same band play. We sat in the bar area at a lower table with a view of stage.. I ordered the charred peppers app, kaleidoscope dreams cocktail and a couple PBRs. The app was delicious and I wanted it because it was the healthier option. Caesar salad was amazing and the burger had a good taste to it. Our server seemed distracted we had to ask several times for things and she wasn't too attentive. It was a good visit. Our organization booked a party two weeks in advance for a two hour bowling party. The day of the party, we got a call from River City Roll saying that another group had rented the space and we would only be able to bowl for an hour. This was not acceptable but they "allowed" us an extra 15 minutes of bowling and "gave" us free shoes. Since it was such short notice, we couldn't cancel. Despite this agreement, our lanes were cut off after an hour and we were unceremoniously kicked out of our party area and told we could sit at the bar. Oh, this place is terrible. I had to wait three hours in line to a decently clean place but with very bad food and they won't allow anybody under 21 past 8pm if you want to spend your night somewhere, definitely do not go here. This doesn't deserve a star. read more

I usually come here to bowl (which I highly recommend since they have great deals), but this time I came for the RVA Brunch Weekend kickoff. We celebrated with giveaways, a raffle, music, and drinks dedicated to Brunch Weekend. I came here with a friend and a few others met up with us throughout the night. While we didn't bowl on this visit, we did really enjoy the Bad Apple drink we ordered. The tea infused alcohol was so tasty. We also ordered the Deadwood pizza. I highly recommend ordering this pizza. I've been here other times where friends have ordered pizzas and have raved about them. After ordering this pizza, I understand why. It was simple, but the white sauce, honey drizzle and veggies were such a tasty combo. There was live music on this night, which was nice, but if you're inside it's very hard to hear your friends. We ended up moving outside which was better for chatting while the band played. When ordering food, they took our cards to hold before checking out. I went to Richmond Virginia for a wedding a few weeks ago, and we decided to all go bowling after the wedding. The couple who got married recommended this place, and it was a mostly good experience, but there was one very big issue in my opinion that caused me to dock them two stars. I'll start with the positive parts. The place had a party vibe, glow in the dark lanes with lights and music, made it a pleasant experience. They also had a good selection of food and drinks. They had a badass country music concert going on while we were there and the music and vibe there was super lit. The parts I didn't like were twofold: 1: all the bowling balls were the same weight! This is a no no when it comes to bowling, it can cause you to hurt your fingers or wrist and bowl badly if you're not used to the heavier weight ball. On the flip side if you usually bowl with a heavier ball it could cause you to put more force into the ball than usual, also causing your game to be impacted by this change. In our party we had a lot of girls who struggled to throw the ball. 2: the finger sizes only had a few options, less than a typical bowling alley: 3: the bowling shoe was wet at the bottom, I was mildly grossed out but I still wore it. read more

I love the vibes at Ricer City Roll! The place is high energy and even when it feels full there's tons of space. It doesn't ever feel crowded. The food is really great too. River City Roll is a fun spot to have around town! It most definitely gives ~upscale bowling alley~ and it's awesome that they offer a music venue + games to play, tons of space and lots to do. I've always had pretty great service, though on packed nights it can be hard to get a drink at the bar, but that's completely understandable and expected. When they're not as busy, I usually don't have any issues with getting things quickly. Their patio is awesome, and I love that it supports dogs, and the beloved Tommie. Also, it's dog friendly and they even have a dog menu + will give you 10% off your check if you bring your dog with you to the Tommie patio. The happy hour is pretty great with $3 rails and $4 wines, among a few other things -- but I do wish they still had cocktails on it (they used to have them 50% off!) Also note: if you go on a Wednesday, be sure to ask about the 3 course for $30 offering. Overall, it's a cool space, and definitely comes up on my radar for a good night out with a group of friends and/or the family. We came here for a birthday party with a larger group. The space is huge but due to the open garage doors in the front, it gets quite hot in the summer. We waited a bit for our bowling lane and the waiter was super helpful. They had happy hour on Saturday's and we also got the great cheesy bread. I liked that you could get socks at the bowling alley to buy and take home- good touch when a lot of people were wearing flip flops. The lanes were nice and the TVS are high tech- they show you a ton of stats and absolutely roast you. Our experience with service in the lanes was ok- we had two or three different waiters/waitresses and in the switch overs there were some delays. A great time. Fun bowling and good food, better than expected actually. This is a great place for families with the ability to have a lane setup for children and another for adults. The bowling kept everyone engaged for a full two hours, and the automatic scoring system was a bonus with the helpful tips and insights. A friend suggested River City Roll for brunch this past Saturday, and fortunately we were able to book a last-minute reservation for the patio right at noon. Upon arrival, my first thought was, "Wow, it's warmer out today than I thought it would be!" ... Before my friend pointed up at the wall to wall heaters wired into the patio roof. Cool concept, especially for frigid days, but we did have to ask for the heat to be lowered a tad. For drinks, one of my friends and I both ordered the frozen concoctions flight. Two weren't done mixing yet, so my friend doubled up on them, and I ordered a vodka limeade as a replacement. As it turned out, all four flavors were made available, so I wasn't charged for the (delicious!) limeade. Very nice of them! The frozen drinks were great (especially blue razz and red sangria), but the limeade was my favorite. As for food, I ordered the briscuit dish, another friend had a burger, and the other ate a breakfast plate. Both of their dishes looked fantastic, but I was happy with my choice. The cheddar biscuit, gravy, and brisket all flowed together nicely. It was pretty busy (being St. Paddy's weekend), but the tables were spaced out enough that it wasn't bad. We had a great time at River City Roll! My husband and I wanted to find a place that was group and kid friendly for the day after our wedding. We were able to get 2 lanes next to each other for 2 hours as well as 2 large tables to accommodate a very large party of people that were all coming and going at different times. The staff was attentive and nice. The drinks were really really good! And the food hit the spot. The bowling was fun as well but mostly I enjoyed having space to just hang out. I wasn't sure what to expect, because I'm not much of a bowler... but we went there for a work party and I was duly impressed! It's a bit off the beaten path, behind the Boulevard and next to the movie theater, but there's plenty of parking! You can reserve one of the two bowling sides for an event, or just rent available lanes. It's not as loud as many bowling spots... good acoustics. If pizza is right up your alley, the brick oven pizzas here are delish! All the food we had was good... chicken fingers, apps, charcuterie board, asparagus, yep, we pigged out! We had reserved a alley at a time and when we showed up it was ready. It has all the nostalgia of a classic bowling alley with modern updates. They have a private parking lot, an outdoor patio, a large indoor bar with tables and seating, and two separate rooms full of bowling lanes with comfortable leather couches and large TVs. The entire venue is wheelchair accessible. If you want to bowl you go to the front desk for lane and shoe rental, which can be discounted on certain days or times, so check for deals in advance! Food and drink service is provided directly to the lanes so you don't need to worry about running back and forth to the bar. The high-tech scoring monitor gives you several options to choose from for bowling, from a traditional game with or without bumpers to games like "Bowling Bingo" where the bumpers light up and you have to knock the ball against certain colors. Whether you're bowling or not, happy hour is absolutely the best time to visit. You can get steep discounts on cocktails, beer, wine, lane rentals, and food. Last time I went with friends the normally $12 pizzas were only $5! I've tried several of the pizzas and they really hit the spot. We had a group of 7 and I made reservations thru the website. When we arrived it was a smooth transition, we arrived 15 minutes ( as suggested by the website and confirmation) and they were running behind and asked us to wait at the bar, no big deal it's a Saturday night and a few drinks before bowling was fine. We had a blast bowling, the games you can play within the game were fun and we had a lot of laughs! We had some cocktails and some apps that were all very good! They had a band warming up and preforming in the next room and we didn't even know until we walked to that side! It was great! We could enjoy our bowl without getting blown away by a band, someone definitely put thought and creativity into the acoustics of this space! Then I'd came time to settle up..... this is why I can't give it 5 stars. It was very unclear as to where and who we settled up with ( the waitress or the front desk) there was alot of confusion by front desk staff as to how much we owed as far as shoes and lane rentals.... It took 15 minutes getting it all sorted and their were cool heads throughout. I was mostly surprised because they've been open since 2018 and it seemed to still be a process to settle up. I will gladly admit fault if I missed some clear instructions but among the 7 of us no one had a clear understanding of how it was supposed to work.
