    They cracked my concrete!
    Kate P.

BUYER BEEARE!!! Marty Donahue and his business, Sierra Vista Construction- deserves ZERO stars and a fine from the Contractor's State Licensing Board. We hired him in January 2020 to install an iron fence for us. He required a huge down payment, 50% of the cost, up front, insisting that it was needed to order the fence and get materials for the stone columns. He gave us an original quote of eight weeks for a completion to build us two columns and two iron gates. It is now March 2021 and we have two columns and no gates. The work that was completed was done poorly and we have several cracks in our concrete around where they built the columns. His crew also leaves trash piles with nails exposed and heavy bags of concrete out in the rain for weeks and weeks before removing them only after constantly texting him to request that they come back to clean up their mess. We have checked in with him once a week for over a year but he has never initiated contact with us or given us updates on his own. He has had several excuses for why he hasn't been able to finish the work; pretty much every excuse in the book, and has contradicted himself several times which indicates that his excuses are just lies. He has even promised many times to finish the project for free or refund us for our costs and yet he has more and more excuses about why he cannot bring us a check to refund us. We are now in the process of taking him to small claims court to try to get some of our money back so we can hire someone else to do the job. We are also in the process of filing a complaint with the contractor state licensing board. This is absolutely a sham business and you will be cheated out of your money if you hire him to do your work. Don't be fooled by his smooth talking and his responses to complaints on here by saying that customer satisfaction is the most important thing to him. That is the biggest lie of all!

Hats off to Fence Bldr's. Julio and his team built 360 linear feet of the most beautiful fence I…read morehave ever seen. They installed two perfectly made decorative steel gates and fixed a previous contractor's poor quality trash enclosure. Our hillside, rocky, home site has some challenges as do all construction projects, and Julio openly discussed them in a professional honest manner. We interviewed 5 different top notch fence builders and Julio was the only one that answered all our questions thoroughly, correctly, and graciously. His team went beyond the typical standards because they actually know what establishes a sturdy, attractive fence, and they care about the final product, a rare quality in today's hustling society. They understood that we wanted a quality fence that would last for years to come. Their product is superior while maintaining the same if not better price point. You are in excellent hands, look no further.

Fence Bldr stood out as the clear choice, and they exceeded our expectations from start to finish. They were fast, professional, and incredibly easy to work with. Everything they quoted was accurate, there were no surprise costs, and the project was completed on time. They even added a few thoughtful extras we hadn't discussed, like making it easier to open our gate from both the inside and the outside. A new fence is a major investment, so choosing the right company really matters. The difference between a great experience and a frustrating one often comes down to the people you hire. We honestly couldn't be happier with the results. Fence Bldr did an outstanding job, and we recommend them without hesitation.

The designer, David, was…read moreprofessional, attentive, and said all the right things; however, when the problems started, he no longer wanted to be involved. Andrew Rogers, the owner, was extremely difficult to work with. He was dismissive and unresponsive. In hindsight, I should have walked away from this company when Andrew made a big point of the fact that he does not come on site during the project. I questioned how his crew would know what to do. He assured me that he communicated with his crew every morning, and it would all be fine. Andrew does not communicate well with his crew. The errors began on Day 1 and continued throughout the project. On Day 1, I watched the crew start ripping up my existing mulch and weed fabric (the plan was to leave it). Then I watched them start putting back the now ripped up fabric. The crew told me they had made a mistake... My husband went out to look at the French Drain they were suppose to be installing. He questioned the crew because it didn't look like a French Drain to him. They said "Oh no. French Drains cost a lot. This isn't a French Drain." Well; thank goodness my husband noticed because they would have covered it with dirt, and we would have never known they had not installed the proper drain! We were paying $2400 for that French Drain. So they had to redo that. We were texting Andrew telling him that we were becoming alarmed because his workers did not seem to know what to do. Andrew was not answering my texts with my concerns, so I had my husband start texting him. Andrew would reply to my husband's texts, but not mine, even though I was the one who hired him, signed the contract and was going to pay him. I suspect he does not respect women. The design called for the continuation of an existing creek bed which Andrew said he could match, and the addition of some sod. When the rocks were delivered and did not match, he put the blame on us for not selecting the correct size rocks. We had hoped the "professional" landscaper would be able to match the rocks, and not put the burden on us. Thank goodness we were home throughout the project because the creek bed was not according to the design, and had to be redone multiple times. When we asked where the additional sod was, the crew said they didn't know anything about that. We were begging Andrew to come on site to guide his workers, since his crew was doing so many things wrong. On the 2nd to last day, Andrew finally came over to our property, only because we were so upset. Due to all the mistakes and redos, the project took longer, and on the last day the crew were rushing to leave. My husband went out to test the drips as they were leaving, and there was a huge leak. The crew left without putting drips on several plants, and we only noticed when plants started dying in a few days. We had to call them back because they never flushed the drip line and all the emitters became clogged and the plants were not being watered. We have asked Andrew to help us with the stretch of dying sod which they installed, and Andrew has ghosted us. Andrew sent us the final invoice on the last day. When I questioned the plant count and gallon sizes, he responded by sending me a new invoice with an additional $1200 of new charges he made up after the final invoice; I guess because he was mad I questioned the plant count? When I told him that overcharging is actually illegal, and we might need to contact the State Licensing Board, he quickly removed the charges. Although our project cost over $10,000 we wonder if maybe Rogers Landscaping does not want to bother with smaller landscaping projects. The crew he sent was not equipped to follow an intricate design. Andrew's communication with us, and with his crew was horrible. He does not own up to his company's mistakes.

They were all competitively priced but each had flaws that turned us off. Lack of communication, lack of material presentation, and a lack of interest in our business. Jesse from TLC was recommended by a local material vendor. He came over with the co-owner Charles to my residence. Right off the bat, they were very professional and showed a lot of interest in our business. I shared with them our vision and goals of our project. Keep in mind I only wanted a retaining wall done, but they went the extra mile to show us what they can do for us for our whole project. This was a huge plus for us. Jesse and Charles came up with the numbers. They were priced similarly to my other estimates, but they had an awesome selection of materials that would fit our budget. They also provided a rendered drawing of what the wall would look like. They also included other possible designs that we envisioned for our backyard renovation. TLC really wanted to be part of our whole project. We agreed on the retaining wall project and signed their contract. When they got started with the project, they were very clean and professional. I did have a run-in with our HOA, but the team knew how to communicate with them so they can stay on schedule. Every day they kept their workspace tidy and kept the area safe for my dog to run around the area. At the end of the project, the family was super satisfied with the work and craftsmanship the team put into our property. They were working under 100º degrees in the summer heat. My only complaint was that they should have ended each day earlier because was HOT! They were all hard-working and the team always had a smile on their faces. You can tell they enjoyed working with each other. Our next phase is our pool, Jesse did have a few contractors lined up for us but we ended up using another contractor that fit our needs. After our pool is done. Jesse and TLC will continue renovating our backyard with pavers and landscaping.
