This is a gorgeous place in the heart of Boerne, TX The place is beautifully designed and built in terraces at different levels, along a hill cliff. The service, food and environment is so nice and peaceful with a view of the river down below the cliff. So much vegetation that makes it a great place to relax while enjoying a great food. Not to be missed! This store has the cutest clothes on the square! There is always a great variety and they are constantly changing their merchandise. Also, you can always snag a great in season top or dress on the sale rack outside. A nice selection of gift items and super friendly staff. I thoroughly enjoyed River House when I visited Wimberley recently. My friend from Dallas introduced me to "switch flops" here. These are flip flops with Velcro across the top and interchangeable covers. Leopard, black, plaid covers are available for your switch flops. Apparently they are huge in big D. The buyers have covered the world looking for unique gifts and among them are Gorky Pottery, the simple yet exquisite Minetta jewelry, Jan Barboglio's Mexico inspired iron, glass and wood decor, and much more. River House is set in an historic structure on the square and filled with reputable gift items, folk art and fun jewelry. One of my favorite places this trip to Wimberley. read more

They lost me at the sign on their door. no cell phone conversations inside. Who cares? I guess they do. Maybe one day they will learn it is about making money. Signs telling your customers what they can't do and how you can't help them are 1990. The stuff inside seemed ok. read more

Let me start off by saying this shop has cute things, however nothing to write home about. Mostly things you can find online (Mud Pie type items) for cheaper, however I enjoy supporting local businesses. That is until my last trip into the store- The two ladies working in the store were rude (to put it nicely)- I went in the store with my family (my 80+ grandmother, my 16 year old niece, and 10 month old baby). Meanwhile, my 9 year old sat outside the shop on the curb because it was a beautiful day out. The shop owner didn't greet us and proceeded to follow us around the store... Not once did she ask if we needed help, just watched us shopping by peering around shelfs like we were about to stuff the whole shop in my purse. Annoying- I should have known better, but to prove a point I purposely purchased about $100 of stuff. Although I found my whole experience annoying the worst was what happened outside. While I was checking out, a lady came inside and asked if that was my entrepreneur daughter sitting outside (she has a school project where they have to create a business, write a business plan, create a product and sell the items in which my daughter hand made bows, she sat outside with her small basket of bows while I was shopping inside and the kind lady approached her and asked if she could buy a bow). I went outside waiting for the rest of my family to exit the store (who also bought things) and the shop owner came out and scolded my 9 year old daughter, telling her that it's private property and she's not allowed to sell her items unless she has prior permission. Call me old fashioned, but I was standing right there, she had no right to scold my child-- not to mention she wasn't soliciting. It is not like she had set up shop outside, we were passing through & she was sitting on the curb and happened to sell an item that wasn't offered in the store (so it wasn't taking any business from the shop)... If any of those facts would have been different of course we would have been respectful and asked. But what she did and said to a kid was not right. I returned my items later that afternoon as the whole interaction didn't sit well with me. I will not be going back & think people should know what kind of business they are supporting when they shop here. read more

I have visited this store in Wimberley several times. It is the best for decor, pottery and unique accessories. The staff are friendly and helpful. Just going in the store helps you visualize what you could do in your own home. Cant wait to go see the new line of jewelry they just got in. In fact i am going this weekend ! read more

Just stopped by this shop. Hadn't read the reviews yet but now can see why I'm not the only one who thinks the lady running the shop was rude. First she curtly corrected us on the names of the stones in the earrings we were considering. When I saw a stone I had never heard of and jokingly said "I thought I knew a lot about stones" her reply was very short "I guess you don't". Then because space is tight and we were looking in the jewelry case, she blurted out to my husband "someone is trying to get by" as if we were imposing on her space. The other customer could have easily gone around us. She might as well have pushed him. I have spent money here often as I live in Wimberley. It used to be a first stop for gifts. Never again. I know the owner would be horrified to hear how this employee treats the customers. read more

I visited Wimberly for the first time a few weeks ago. I bought some really cool earrings and a very nice top at River House. I love them! They are some of my new favorites! This is the most lovely store in the area. The buyer simply has the best eye, at all price levels. Where does one start? I love the Italian and Mexican pottery selections; all of the table top offerings are just fab! And her jewelry, wow. When I entered, No one asked if I needed help they just stood behind the counter and eyed me .Then a clerk followed me in the store when i rounded a corner out of view. She never asked if I needed help . I felt stalked like she was thinking maybe I would shoplift. I Intended to buy several things for our grandchildren but left without a purchase.
