Love that it's a family business! They are occasionally at the farmers market in foster city on Saturdays, please try it if you have a chance. I love coffee in general and being Vietnamese I can be a bit particular with how I like my Vietnamese coffee. I got the pandan iced coffee and it was perfect, not too sweet with the right consistency and actual pandan leaves inside. Service was a little slow, but they were busy.

At the San Francisco Coffee Festival, I just visited River Phin with my daughter!

If you're looking for a coffee experience that brings a wide range of flavors and truly breaks the mold, you have to try River Phin Coffee. I first discovered them at the San Francisco Coffee Festival, and it's been my go-to ever since. The founder, Vy, is an incredible force in the industry--she's a Certified Coffee Quality Grader, one of only 400 in the U.S.! What makes her coffee so unique are the innovative fermentation methods. We're talking next-level stuff, like placing bananas right in the fermentation vat to develop flavors you won't find anywhere else. Here are my top three favorites on my regular order: 1. Diego Bermudez Pistachio Cake: Features pistachio cream, followed by warming notes of cinnamon and cardamom. 2. 96B Project Liberica - Quảng Trị, Vietnam: A rare find that brings the unique flavors of Vietnam to your morning pour-over. 3. Pink Borbon Banana Milk Cake: This is where that innovative banana fermentation really shines. Vy offers a wide range of exotic beans from Vietnam, Thailand, Colombia, and beyond. Support a master of her craft and upgrade your home brewing!

My favorite weekend treat, dont miss the pandan cloud and specials. Got a bag of beans, obsessed with the nature banana flavor.

Their coffee is really good and one of the most complex Vietnamese coffees I've tried. The owner is a certified coffee quality grader and knows her coffee really well. However, do prepare a bit for a wait as they prepare each drink. Pandan coffee was nice and flavorful. Will come back to try their beans.

River Phin Coffee is, without a doubt, my absolute go-to place for beans. Visiting their stand at the Foster City Farmers Market has become the highlight of my week every Saturday. If you are serious about coffee, you need to meet Jana. She is an award-winning Roast Master with an incredible philosophy on sourcing and roasting. Her selection of Asian specialty and rare coffees is unlike anything else you'll find in the area. Honestly, being a regular here has spoiled me, completely raised the bar. I've become much more particular about my coffee because Jana's roasts are just that clean and distinct. My current favorites are the Geisha Village, Lychee Bloom, Son Pacamara, and Magnum Sidra. I really hope more people discover River Phin and understand the care Jana puts into her craft. You genuinely just have to taste it to understand the difference. Highly recommended!

I first tried River Phin Coffee Roasters at the San Francisco Coffee Festival in 2024. Their cà phê sữa đá (Vietnamese iced coffee) was the best I had at the entire event! The coffee was rich and dark with a fragrant aroma. The sweetness of the condensed milk brought it all together. Smooth, bold, and the right balance. Since then I have followed Vy, who runs this small business with help from her mom. They set up at the Foster City Farmers Market every Saturday. It has become my weekend routine to grab my Vietnamese iced coffee there. Most of the time it is Vy's mom in charge of the iced coffee drinks. That family touch makes it even better honestly! The line can take a little time but every cup is worth it because it is always made fresh to order. I also pick up beans from their booth. My favorites are the Saigon Dark Whiskey and the Countryside Robusta. Both are strong and smooth with that deep flavor I look for when I brew at home. The beans are fresh and roasted with real care, and you can taste the difference right away. River Phin is the kind of local business I want to support. It is small, personal, and focused on quality. You can feel the passion Vy and her family put into every bag of beans and every drink. Easily some of the best coffee in the Bay Area. Highly recommend checking them out when you're around the area!

A cup of the "Pink Borbon Banana Milk Cake"! Tasted like banana bread dipped in coffee!

I've been a regular at their Foster City farmers market pop-up for quite a while now, and I can't recommend them enough! My go-to drinks are the lavender latte, bee pollen latte, and the pandan cloud Vietnamese coffee.(Keep an eye out for occasional specialty espresso too) I have bought a few coffee bags from them and they were equally exceptional. The "Pink Borbon Banana Milk Cake" has been one of my favorite coffees this year.

River Phin's Pink Bourbon Banana Milk Cake is hands down one of the most unique and flavorful coffees I've tried. The banana and bourbon notes come through creamy, and balanced without being overpowering.

I love my Peet's Major Dickason coffee every morning. After trying River Phin's coffee at the Foster City farmer's market, I've switched to their specialty roast of Jakarta volcanic beans. It's dark and smokey with more of a nutty profile than what I get from Peet's beans. So good in fact, I ordered a big ass bag. Looks like a family run local business so that makes it even better.

Saturday at the Foster City Farmers Market in the parking lot of now defunct Orchard Supply ! Love Vy, an award winning coffee grader .. taking her time to make the perfect coffee ! True coffee lovers will appreciate the care & love she puts into making each cup . It may take 5-7 min so if ur in a hurry , sry this coffee is not for u ! Though u can buy the beans and brew at home ! And love her mom .. the 80+ yo making the 'old fashioned' Vietnamese coffee!

    Son Pacamara beans

My favorite is the decaf coffee from River Phin, it is by far the best decaf beans I've had. I used to get Blue Bottle night light decaf and Counter Culture, but those don't hold a candle to the Mai Decaf. I also love the speciality coffee that they have at the farmer's market. One of the regular espresso has lychee notes in it. The beans are Asian ( Indonesia, Vietnam), so I find the profile really unique and not like your typical Colombian bean at most cafes. If you see the Son Pacamara roast, I highly recommend it. It's one of the best coffees I've ever had. Creamy, caramel, I can hardly believe this is the natural taste of the bean! Whether I'm making espresso at home or getting a latte at the farmer's market, the coffee really does set the tone for the rest of my day. Can't do without it. River Phin is my goto coffee -- highly recommend!

Cappuccino, Palestina pink burbon, son pacamara

I'm a regular customer at River Phin at FC farmers market. Vy and her mom are the sweetest duo. I really appreciate Vy's passion for coffee. She always brings in new and unique flavors, I look forward to trying whatever fresh batch she has on her espresso machine. I love her cappuccinos, and the beans are some of the best I've ever had. 100% recommend!

The coffee here is amazing! Plain and simple if you like original Vietnamese coffee or coffee with a Vietnamese twist this is the place to go. I would have left a picture of the coffee but I already drank it all :D

I got an iced HK style coffee + milk tea which I've never had before but was so delicious. I'd definitely come back to try the other fruity drinks too! we ordered the tom yum noodles, preserved vegetables & pork noodle soup, salt & pepper fries, and the HK style french toast with peanut butter. the french toast was our favorite- it was fluffy and chewy and was just like the HK classic. the noodle dishes were both so hearty and flavorful too, and the portions were a good size. it did take a bit long for everything to come out, but it did seem like there was only one person working and she was very kind and accommodating when we had questions about our order. we didn't mind at all, especially sitting outside and enjoying the view! overall, I'll for sure be back for the drinks and to try some other HK style street food.

We were initially going to just stop by to grab drinks, but decided to sit down and order a few snacks as well. The location is right behind Foster City's Central lake and the weather was nice, so we decided to sit outside. We ordered the HK style milk tea, OG lemon tea, french fries, and the siu mai. If I just ordered the drinks, it might have been a better experience. The fries were okay, nothing special - they were a bit softer than I like. The siu mai was just bad. I'm not sure where it comes from, but it was gummy in texture and tasted like frozen food. There were only 5 small pieces and we still couldn't finish it. The drinks were priced fairly, but the snacks were overpriced for what it is. You order at a kiosk so there isn't much service to talk about, but we did have to ask for a ketchup a few times before they remembered to bring it to us. Maybe I'll go back to try the actual food dishes.

There was no line at all, so my drink came out really quickly. Service was efficient, and basically non existent since you order on your phone, and pick it up from the counter. They have some seats indoors and a few benches outside, it's pretty spare and basic inside which is all you really need in a cafe. I saw a lot of people getting takeout, and some small groups around tables chatting. I was debating between the matcha and houjicha, then got intrigued by the black sesame, and finally after much internal debate, decided that black sesame + houjicha would work best together and wanted the einspanner. They honestly have so many intriguing options like Earl grey matcha einspanner??? Banana pudding?? I have to come back. My only complaint is the price but I guess everything is expensive these days. $8/9 for one of these drinks hurt my heart though. On the flavors: while I wish there was more black sesame (I always do), this was one of the most satisfyingly black sesame items I've had from a cafe. It went really well with the toasty roasty notes from the houjicha and I think they added enough of both amidst the milk to make it a very satisfying drink. This can be rare because a lot of places drown out all the flavors with too much milk. The best part though, was the einspanner - the sweetened whipped cream on top really brought the whole drink together and was so delicious. It made it just that little bit more decadent. I got it at minimal sweetness and at first though it wasn't enough, but I was glad I did as I worked my way through the cup, it was perfect.
