Great cafe location. I mean, who doesn't love Blue Bottle? This one is the smallest Blue Bottle I've ever been to with limited seating, but it's okay. It's nice and clean and there is parking available right in front and all around. The AC is strong which feels great, but definitely bring a jacket if you plan to stay for a few hours. I just wish there were more seats, but other than that I love having a local Blue Bottle shop near me. Please try the Iced Sweet Blossom Matcha Latte. This has been my go to menu item at Blue Bottle. Blue Bottle is a coffee shop I go to when I want to feel extra fancy I went here when visiting Roblox for a business meeting Not a lot of indoor seating options. People come here and set up work stations so you won't be able to find an open seat/full sized table too easily. They also have these mini tables to sit at. They're really inconvenient. You can't fit your food and coffee on it. Outside of the rough seating situation, the coffee and food always knock it out of the park! Always love to stop at Blue Bottle when I'm on a road trip, and this trip was no exception. Stopped to grab my Iced Mocha. Super happy with my drink - tasted just as delicious as always - but their service here is so incredibly slow. Surprising since it was relatively empty here. Parking is also more difficult. Despite it having a small shopping area vibe, because of the location, I had to look for 10 minutes for parking. Maybe I missed an easier lot? They are constantly out of their signature items like NOLA and waits can exceed 30minutes, which is shocking for a coffee shop. This was the worst experience I've had at blue bottle They were out of NOLA which was fine we ordered a regular drink. We waited 20 minutes and realized that the line wasn't progressing in terms of who had been served. They proceed to tell us it will be another 30 minutes. For coffee. They then announce to customer in line that it will be another 40 minutes for new orders. We had somewhere to be so we had to leave and asked for a refund. It's been 2 weeks we have not received it. Nice coffee shop in San Mateo! This is their first location in San Mateo and I have been visiting since it opened couple years ago. The interior is clean ad look nice and the shop it not that large but has seating area. I remember on my first visit I got their famous waffle and it was yummy. I like the serounding. read more

This is my go to coffee place. I enjoy the outdoor area with plenty of seating l, fairly easy parking, and honestly, my favorite place to pickup an oat milk latte. However, besides the coffee, the staff is wonderful. Always friendly and helpful with a special shout out to Alyssa who is my favorite barista. We ordered a waffle for our kids and waited about 15 minutes, only to be told the waffle machine had broken down. No early heads-up, no apology--just a delayed update after we had already been waiting with hungry kids. We then waited another 15 minutes and ended up ordering a $10 sandwich instead. But just a minute later, I saw waffles being served to other customers. That was the most frustrating part--not the delay, but the complete lack of communication and basic consideration. No one came to let us know the waffle machine was working again, and when I asked about it, the staff avoided eye contact, said nothing, and continued to ignore us. Meanwhile, our kids were upset and crying after all the waiting. Mistakes happen, equipment breaks--I get it. But the way this was handled showed zero awareness, zero accountability, and zero care for customers. Would not recommend this location based on this experience. read more

It wasn't too busy this morning compared to a couple other times I've been. However the wait was pretty long, and this isn't the first time I've had to wait a long time for my order.?? But.... the quality beats the more common chain we know. The matcha actually tasted like true ceremonial matcha compared to other places where it feels diluted or watered down. My friend also enjoyed her honey latte ( I think that was what it was) and said the coffee was definitely better tasting. It can get pretty busy here, and then sometimes you're lucky enough to miss a rush. There's tables where some will work inside sometimes, there's also a few areas outside to do so too. Continues to be the worst Blue Bottle I've ever been to. 1. Now has given me the wrong sized drinks the third time: Charged me 16oz and gave me 12. It had been the same employee all 3 times (how does she have her job?) 2. The unbelievable wait. Sometimes it's due to the crowd, sometimes they just make you wait even when the store is empty 3. The attitude of some of the employees (not the same one mentioned above).... After waiting forever for the small talk to be over at the register ahead of me on a weekday morning, I went straight to "can I have a croissant?", which was met with a "good morning!" in a very snarky tone. Wtf. I am trying to save you time on a busy morning with the one thing I am buying so I can get the f out of your way with a long line behind me.... Who hurt you? I have been to BB in San Francisco at almost every location. Also in Japan, Palo Alto, New York. Their overall pace is slow compared to other coffee places, but this location continues to be a surprisingly bad experience in different ways. The best hot mocha ever I've had--strong and chocolatey with mix of bitter and sweet, a healthy portion and rerasonable portion. Fast, efficient friendly service. The interior is small with little tables and a counter to go order and wait for your order. But the selling point, especially on a gorgeous sunny warm day like today: tables scattered around outside to perch on and enjoy the drink. I recently purchased the Ecotainer reusable cup, and it already has a crack in it. These things happen, but I was disappointed that Blue Bottle won't stand behind its product and replace it. As someone who gets a cold brew here most weekdays, it feels shortsighted to nickel-and-dime a loyal customer over a $20 cup when you're risking not just the revenue, but the goodwill that keeps someone loyal to the brand. read more

The drink came out 30 minutes later which isn't a major problem considering it was morning and very very busy BUT some of the staff were borderline rude when asking if they at least had my order in the queue. I didn't order any drinks or store items. -Tucked in nice neighborhood that is quiet and seems to be a mix of residential and businesses STARS (stand out qualities) -Good customer service - friendly and quick -Pastries are overall good but nothing outstanding; seems very cookie cutter -my favorite pastry is the brown butter blondie but maybe it was the butter talking! -interior is clean -Bathroom is clean and includes changing tables (score for parents/caregivers with kids with diapers!) Tried Blue Bottle for the first time! I wasn't aware that the menu they had on display only showcased some of their drinks, so if you're looking for more options, be sure to look at their app beforehand! I went for a safe option and got their Nola iced with oat milk. It was slightly sweet but had a good amount of caffeine as I remained wide-awake for the rest of the day. Their chives waffle was okay. I expected a bit more from a savory waffle. I felt like it was missing a salty taste to it, so it may have been better with butter or a dash of shaved salt. The Nola came out as soon as I finished ordering, whereas the waffle took about 3 minutes to come out. The shop itself is pretty small, with only a few 2-3 person tables on the left and right. There's a huge fountain display outside of the shop, and is across from a large commercial building. It was busy for a Sunday afternoon, but I can imagine it being even more lively during a week day. My neighborhood Blue Bottle Coffee is a luxury that I occasionally indulge in. I'm more of a daily dark roast drip coffee kind of guy, but occasionally I like to make my way over here for a Cappuccino. The quality of their beans and handcrafted touch is evident in their final product. As for this location, it is on the small side, however there are a few tables and seats on the left side, and there are a few small fold out tables and high chairs on the right side. You can either order via their app for a convenient pickup, or just head straight to the counter right in front of the entrance. Their espresso based drinks will not be like like anything you can pick up from the several other larger coffee franchises, and you certainly will pay more for this high touch, but if you're a coffee connoisseur then this is worth the occasional investment, in my humble opinion. read more

On top of that, bad attitude, not polite at all as if I'm supposed to wait forever. I haven't been to Blue Bottle in awhile, but very happy I had lunch at Roam next door and decided to get a coffee before taking the kids to the Playground. I got the iced Nola Shakarado (?) with oat milk. It was fantastic and I drank every last drop. It was so good I went back the very next day to get another one. It is the perfect balance of sweet (but not too sweet) and spice and ice and everything nice!. It's good and I drink alot of coffee so I applaud Blue Bottle for this drink. My only cringe is that it is $8 so with a tip to the servers, you are looking close to a ten dollar drink. Only one size as well. It's just not a coffee I can get every day. Aside from that, I will make a point to get this drink every time I am in the area from now on. Lots of parking in the area although you might need to walk a block or two. It is in a fairly new residential area with cute tables both inside and outside to sit. There is a great ice cream shop and burger place next door so a great place to have lunch or dinner. read more

I wouldn't say Blue Bottle is my regular coffee spot, I actually like to rotate to different coffee shops for my occasional coffee fix, however Blue Bottle provides premium coffee that is truly hand crafted. This location is walking distance from Hillsdale mall and there are a few other eateries next door. My go to here is their Cappuccino with 2% milk. It is a small but powerful drink and the richness of their espresso really shines through. I find it's easiest to order using their App and I'm in and out with my drink. The line can get sometimes long and I'd rather be on my way with my warm drink in hand. Parking is street-side as there is no lot nearby. The staff here has always been welcoming and friendly. read more
