EMS brought him from memory care to ER for altered mental state, weakness, and fever for suspected urosepsis. They brought him to a resuscitation bay, but his vitals were stable, except for mildly elevated troponins and assumed UTI. By the time I arrived after work, he had been assigned a room with telemetry. No transport aide was available and they needed the resuscitation ER room, so they left my dad unmonitored in a hallway for 20+ min. No staff checked on him in any way until transportation arrived. He was admitted to 2S before shift change with no issues. The next day I visited and saw one of his IVs was gone. My dad said they had spent a long time cleaning up the mess. There was still blood all over the patient phone and IV pump. His patient ID band was missing, which I meant to mention to the nurse but forgot. Surely they would notice when they needed to give meds? My dad was at his baseline, awake but with mild confusion to time and place (he knew he was in a hospital but not where). My dad mentioned he had had trouble sleeping the night before, which I mentioned to his nurse who put in a text to his concierge doctor. His doctor wrote an order for a mild nighttime medication. My dad's sepsis was under control with WBC trending down with IV antibiotics. The plan was a couple days in the hospital until he could be switched to outpatient oral antibiotics back in memory care. The next day when I visited, he was incredibly drowsy. When awakened for OT, he was combative. He had a different IV (a third one this visit) from the day before. He had an entire untouched breakfast at bedside as well as a full lunch in front of him. Apparently Eisenhower doesn't care if you eat. He ate when I helped him, but he was very drowsy. The blood on the phone and IV pump was still there from the day before. He still had no ID band, even though new antibiotics had been started and a new DNR band had shown up on his wrist. I mentioned it to his nurse, who very quickly came in with a band and said "here you go [first name]" with not even a confirmation from my dad. He was extremely sleepy for no reason considering his bloodwork had stabilized. His concierge doctor called me soon after saying that, for no known reason, another doctor had been consulted overnight when he became agitated. Although a nighttime med had been ordered by the concierge doctor, nursing staff did not give it. When he became agitated, they called the hospital overnight doctor instead of his 24/7 concierge doctor (through eisenhower!). This on call doctor gave him 3mg of Haldol, a medication with a black box warning against use in dementia psychosis. He has a concierge doctor who should have been consulted, but was instead given a dangerous medication (considering his size, age, and condition) by a doctor who should have never been part of his care. While the plan was to discharge him tomorrow or the next day, this may now be delayed based on poor hospital communication and even worse judgement by on-call doctors. And I can't wait to see if the patient phone has finally been cleaned of blood tomorrow, 3 days later. Even if you have a 24/7 doctor, you are not safe. If you don't have a 24/7 doc, you for sure are not safe. If you think this is a one-off, please consider the following stories: - my mom was sedated for a pacemaker before they realized she hadn't signed consent - my mom was left in an ER for 5+ hours with an absurdly dangerous sodium level of 110. Even though labs had been drawn, I was not told results but was instead told her cognitive changes were probably from parainfluenza and they even gave a bolus of NS. I wasn't told about her low sodium until many hours later when they transported her to icu. She has never regained her baseline cognitive function. - when my mom was on isolation in the ER, staff came in to add a clean items into a dirty room. - when my mom was admitted overnight to icu after a head injury and was confused, staff asked if I could stay overnight and babysit her because they did not have a sitter available. When I said I was not available, they then guilted me and told me then they would have to use chemical restraints (sedation)... because it was apparently my fault I was unavailable and they are poorly staffed? If something had happened while I was watching her, I'm sure they would have blamed me. The nurse told me chemical restraints was a worse healthcare option and it was my fault she had to use it. Having a parent in the ICU isn't stressful enough, so enjoy guilt from your ICU nurse! I will say that the ER is pretty efficient, and you can be in and out within a few hours... but maybe that's because they miss important things like sodium levels of 110. Only good thing is our $5k/yr/pt concierge doctor. Pay to play/live should be Eisenhower's motto.

It clearly states on your website that the service yesterday that you performed is covered for low incoming families. Your organization is government funded, so from the taxes the government is deducting from his and our income, we support your vision but yet you charged him $300 dollars for a simple test. Claudia, it was surprising to hear that it didn't seem high to you for someone who makes 3,000/month, pays rent and supports him and his girlfriend who is still in school. You easily took his money and it became clear to me talking to you on the phone why you took it - you don't care! You said, well he signed the estimate and agreed to it. The medical assistant asked me to do a urine sample which I did with no problems whatsoever . The nurse practitioner goes in there she asked me the same questions what is the reason for my visit I inform her . She asked me to remove my clothes from the waist down and she will be back in a few minutes. She comes back everything is going well , it was the moment she started to check my private area. I have been checked before by other obgyn In the past and never in my life have i experienced so much pain . She sticked a stick inside me to swab me without opening me up first using a speculum she was being extremely rough going in and out and In circles and she asked me do you normally bleed I said no I did tell her it was hurting . Then she decided to use to speculum after I told her she was hurting me and she did another swab . I was in so much pain . After she checked me she told me to get dressed and she was going to go to the lab and see if I had an infection down there with the swab she did. I walked out and used the restroom the moment I sat down on the toilet and urinated a little so much blood was coming out of my private area and it hurt so I was in so much pain to the point I could not get off the toilet .I went back in the room I was in and she told Me my results and gave me medication . As I'm checking out I'm still in so much pain I inform the front desk girl I was in so much pain I literally start crying . I asked the front desk girl To please notify the doctor something is wrong I'm in so much pain . She goes and tells the doctor and the medical assistant who called me in the first time puts me in another room . The Dr takes about 15 min to see me again and she asked me what's wrong . I tell her crying I'm in so much pain when I urinate it hurts so bad it burns and I have pelvic pain . Her response was you probably have a UTI . EXCUSE me I did not have a UTI before coming to see you I was urinating just fine with no pain whatsoever until you checked me in such rough way . I told her I left you guys a urine sample before you entered the room she says to me let me go check , she comes back and tells me that my urine has been thrown out if I can provide them with another urine sample . At the point I was so upset I said yes I'll do another urine sample . I tried to leave a urine sample but there was no way I was still Bleeding and I'm so much pain . I left and told them I will be going to the ER mind you I have no insurance to Go to the ER and I left crying I couldn't even drive of how much pain I was in . At the ER the doctor did a pelvic exam which he confirmed I was hurt down there . He provided me with pain medication and to rest for a couple days . What was a quick check up ended up being a visit I wish I never made . I was in pain for 4 days and I would cry every time I had to urinate because it hurt so bad . I'm finally feeling better thankfully . The sad part is all the back stack front office staff and the doctor all knew how much pain I was in and not ones they reached out to Me to see how I'm doing . I could tell by the way phone was answered as DOHC yet the employee stated it was my dr's office. It was not. His staff always answers with his name and their name. They said they would transfer me to order a script filled. They disconnected me. After several more calls they did not answer, going on for about 2 hours. My phone does show who is calling. A similar experience happened a couple of years ago when I wanted to use a previous diet program they promoted and the person refused to return my calls. Other than these 2 instances I like them but beware; I believe if they can't resolve your issue I believe they are trained to just blow you off. I went for a series of sessions following lumbar fusion surgery because a significant body of research shows pre-operative HBOT therapy can very significantly reduce post-operative complications (Hyperbaric Oxygen Preconditioning Can Reduce Postabdominoplasty Complications: A Retrospective Cohort Study (Friedman, T., et al., 2019), especially those horrible bone infections that aren't noticed for weeks to months after surgery, and to speed up healing (Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Orthopaedics: An Adjunct Therapy with an Emerging Role (Jeyaraman, M., et al., 2023). I was very impressed with Dan and Cherise for their professionalism and 100% attention to the entire process. Their attention to detail and professionalism meant even more to me considering HBOT therapy means being kept in a small container where, if you're claustrophobic, it can be stressful. To help with this, Dan always had a ready supply of television shows to watch during the process and in fact, he and I spent many a session watching TV together taking turns sharing movies we liked! Did I mention Dan's impeccable credentials for running a HBOT practice, for attention to detail is vital when it comes to managing high pressure oxygen systems? She is an amazing listener & perceptive inquirer. So relieved to have found someone to steer me back into balance. Her front office girl is bubbly and positive. The place has a great vibe when you walk into the waiting room. Looking forward to discovering everything this location has to offer. When Carbon Health first opened, I was excited by the idea of an urgent care where you could…read moreactually make an appointment. It seemed like a great alternative to sitting in a waiting room for hours or trying to time your visit to Eisenhower Urgent Care during a slower period. Unfortunately, the experience has gone steadily downhill since my first visit. The bedside manner of many of the NPs and PAs is disappointing. You get about five minutes of their time, and it often feels like they aren't interested in truly listening to your concerns. Instead, they seem eager to fit you into a predetermined diagnosis. If you don't present with one specific symptom, they quickly dismiss the possibility of what you think might be wrong--even though people can experience the same illness in very different ways. The medical assistants haven't been much better in my experience. During my most recent visit, the MA smelled strongly of cigarette smoke and barely spoke to me. I'll never understand why some people choose careers that require working closely with patients when they seem to have little interest in interacting with people. Unfortunately, this hasn't been limited to just one office. The La Quinta location has been just as disappointing. Across both locations, the staff often come across as though they'd rather be anywhere else than at work. Trust me--we don't want to be there either. Patients aren't visiting urgent care for fun; we're there because we're sick, worried, or uncomfortable. The least we can expect is to be listened to and treated with a basic level of care and empathy. If you have a choice, I would recommend Eisenhower Urgent Care instead. In my experience, their staff takes the time to listen, treat patients with respect, and make sure concerns aren't simply brushed aside.
