I'm writing this with a very heavy heart. Three weeks ago, I brought my cat to River Square Animal Hospital because he was wheezing. I was worried it might be asthma or a respiratory issue. The vet said she didn't feel anything concerning, likely an upper respiratory infection that he'd fight off himself. I asked if we should do an X-ray or more testing, but she said it wasn't necessary and instead had me purchase lysine treats. My cat hated them, but I tried my best. Yesterday, he died suddenly in my arms. The emergency vet confirmed he hadn't choked, but couldn't say what caused it. I have spent a lot of time taking him to appointments here over the past year, and each time I was sent home without much clarity. I'm heartbroken and just wish more care had been taken when I asked for it. read more

We took our cat, Cookie, here today to become a new patient and also to address her ongoing kidney issues. The doctor was very nice and answered all the questions we had. She seemed to really care about Cookie, which was nice. She did not prescribe anything unnecessary and gave us a sound action plan. This vet is also not curbside, which was great! Run, do not walk away! This was a great place to go when John Revely was the owner. New owner now, and is in it for the money. New staff that are very, very rude. I called because my dog is in peril and needs to be put down, he gave me a date 9 days away! I have been a loyal customer for 30+years and was told that it doesnt give me anything extra. Dr. John would consider it an emergency and would take you right in. If you have ever had your animal put down, it takes just minutes. Having compassion for, and caring about the animal and their family should be number one! The only reason that the rating is better than it should be is because the good ratings were before John left the practice! when I asked the rude receptionist his name, he said "Don't worry about it!" and hung up on me! read more

Terrible customer service. Would not refill my cat's prescription for prozac with a week's notice. She had to take half the dosage for a week; soon she will run out altogether. I put in the request on 11/17/22 and I'm still waiting for the refill. I have called three times and can't get a reasonable answer for the delay. Today is 11/25, still waiting. Oh and the person who answered the phone hung up on me because I was annoyed and angry. Seriously TERRIBLE customer service. read more

I have been taking my pets to River Square for 11 years now. Never have I appreciated the care as much as this year when my Golden doodle developed a mast cell tumor. I have used this Hospital for over 25 years. Dr. Reevley is without a doubt the most wonderful doctor that I have ever dealt with. The practice itself though has gone way down hill over the last year. They are NEVER on time, there is no communication once you are put in an exam room, and the nonchalant attitude about their inability to see you during the scheduled appointment time and/or the length of time they leave you in a room is infuriating and unacceptable. I have sent several people to this facility over the last 2 decades... NEVER AGAIN!!! Shame on them!! read more

First time visit today! We are new to the area and River Square came highly recommended by two friends. We had to wait nearly an hour to be seen even though we had an appointment, I will not hold that against them. Dr R is very informed and concerned about healthy care of my pets and recommended not to give unnecessary medications because of long-term harmful affects. Fritz and Otto were treated well by staff and there wasn't a rush to get us in and out - probably the reason for the wait. Dr R and I had a discussion about best treatment options and advised that I know my pet better than anyone else so I can make the best decisions. Thank you. Very positive experience. read more

The veterinarian took a lot of time with us and our dog and the visits seemed very comprehensive and we got all questions answered. Unfortunately, we later learned that some shots were missed and we had to come back. In the first 3 months, we had 4 appointments because stuff was missed. Each time, we waited a long time to be seen. The office seems chaotic and, after asking for a tour -- which was a surprise to them -- we noticed that the kenneling and surgical areas were unsanitary and very cluttered. In fact, there was a tech doing a spay/neuter on a small table by herself. Ugh! They told us not to worry. I wasn't worried -- I was horrified. We switched vets and we discovered that our dog had not received some vaccinations she could have had. I feel horrible about not getting my puppy the very best care. We heard thru other animal care providers that RSAH has been having problems over the past 3-4 years. My feeling is that if there only one vet (like RSAH) there's really no accountability. Our new vet hospital has 3 vets on staff - and it's private, not a VCA. I learned that friendly does not necessarily equal great care. My suggestion would be to get recommendations from other professionals - not friends. We believe that the chaotic atmosphere led to the errors in our puppy's care. I feel like the staff is not well trained, overworked and the place is understaffed which leads to these problems. read more

I have brought my puppy here since he was born, and now that I inherited his sister and mother I have been taking both of them here also. I really enjoy the staff and doctors. They are very courteous and helpful. The latest operation on my dog was a sign that I will continue to stay with them. My cat is diabetic and needed his insulin prescription renewed. The veterinarian would not renew the prescription unless I paid for a senior cat exam and a regular exam which is over $275!!! I called to see if I can just have a regular exam for him, which is only about $75 and they said NO that I would need both exams. They just want to take advantage of their pet owners and expect you to shell out a ridiculous amount of money. I was able to go to another veterinarian and he was able to renew the prescription and give me an exam and a glucose test for $74. I would never recommend this clinic!! read more

I recently had to put my cat down. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever made, but Dr Reveley hung in there with me until I was comfortable with it. His staff brought blankets, and much care and concern. They were all gentle and professional. It was very affordable and that was with cremation. I was there for 1 hr and 15 minutes and never felt like I was being rushed. I will go back. Great place!!! read more

Dr. Reveley and his staff have been great for both my dogs. He did a biopsy to discover my dog has a terminal liver disease. He has researched the best course of treatment for her and now five years later, she is thriving! He has my dogs best interests at heart and his prices are reasonable. read more

I use to love this clinic. However since the new owner has taken over, she has basically doubled the prices. It's ridiculous. They charge a tech fee and also charge for the service. So a normal nail trim is over $20. If you're paying for the tech why are you charged for the full price of the service. What is the tech fee for??? The fact you have a breathing human being,???? This was never done before and certainly seems like double charging. The owner sited another clinic Banfield in Parma. Banfield is a big chain. I went there once when I lived in Chicago. It was like an assembly line, and also ridiculously expensive. If that is what the owner is comparing her hospital to, then it's more about money than your pet. Doc if you want to double your prices be honest instead of mumble jumble. Most hospitals do NOT double charge. The techs and office staff are the same and I will miss them. Boy I hope the staff got a big raise now that their boss is charging double. read more

The new vet, Dr. Mach, is excellent. I've been going to Dr. Revely for many years and love him. I went to Dr. Mach when my dog had a seizure. I was panicking, and I had with me very upset kids. Dr. Mach's demeanor quickly controlled the situation. She was very knowledgeable and went out of her way for us. She examined my dog thoroughly and spent the time necessary to discuss what was going on with my dog. I highly recommend Dr. Mach. Oh, and my dog is doing great:) read more

Dr. John Revely and his staff are always kind, professional and go out of their way to accommodate. Dr. John has been my vet for over 30 years and cared for at least 6 cats. He has cleaned their teeth, done their checkups, spayed and neutered them and dealt with their illnesses. And he has been warm and caring as I've held some of them at the end of their lives and needed to say "goodbye." We've now retired and are wintering in Florida and Dr. John has provided shots, advice and sedatives to allow our old kitty to travel with us. His advice and assistance has been spot on and he and his staff have gone out of their way to assist us from out of state. I've referred many people looking for the "right" vet for their pet to Dr. John. and I'll always be grateful for the care that he and his staff provide. We went here so we could get flea meds to give the dog and cats. they refused to give us meds for the cat because they had never been there so they never told us that we could not use it on the cats so we put it on the cat and she got very sick. We went in here and when we got there we waited about 20 mins until we got to see the doctor then he said that they can not treat her because they were closing in 30 minutes. Me thinking that this is an emergency that they would care for her but no they turned us away. If they really wanted to care for animals they you would help them not pass them off on someone else. read more

First-time visit for our dog, had a slight emergency and they were able to take us right away - 2 stars. Both the doctor and radiologist read the x-rays wrong, and because it was on a weekend, we were forced to take her to the emergency clinic for what turned out to be unnecessary surgery with an EXTREMELY high price tag. OK, mistakes happen, so we agreed to not hold it against him. When we took our dog back to have her staples removed, we asked the doctor about some issues we were having with ticks, and asked what he recommended we use. He told us not to use anything, and to just keep picking them off. Ummm......OK, he's the doctor, so that's what we continued to do, until we ended up with a mini-infestation of ticks in our house. We finally broke down and bought some Frontline, and the ticks started dying off almost immediately. I know this guy has been around for a while, but our whole experience with him leaves me wondering if he really knows what he is talking about. We do not plan on taking our dog back to him again. read more
