None of this was a cheap, but I knew this going in, and they gave me estimates along the way. He gave me a tip on how to clean my dog's teeth with gauze instead of a toothbrush. Our vet tech was calm and knowledgable; everyone there was gentle. They communicated well with reminder texts. I'd recommend them.

The Vet was so upfront and honest, and cared more about our dog than finance. Highly recommended!!!!

I take my dog for an arthritis injection and they are out of stock of the medication, even though my appointment has been on the books for a month. No one bothered to call me ahead of time. I took off work for this appointment! My other dog is on a prescription pill and they refused to refill the prescription even though he had an annual checkup a month prior. So I had to bring him in for bloodwork and of course they couldn't draw blood because he's a tiny nervous dog. Another failed appointment that I missed work for. If you are looking for a reliable vet, do not choose Metropet in Berea.

They had my dog with prior seizure activity (that they were aware of)…read moreon a monthly prevention labeled with a giant "Do not use for dogs with prior seizure activity" warning. When I discovered this myself on Chewy.com, I brought it up and requested a different monthly preventative. It was clearly a problem that I questioned. The Vet encouraged me to continue my dog on the seizure-warning preventative but advised adding a seizure control medication on top of it... One we paid her practice for every month, of course. You can also expect a 45 minute to an hour wait/appointment time at this place, regardless of what the appointment is for. It is, without a doubt, the slowest service at a vet I've ever experienced-- and I've had dogs all my life. Additionally, they only let people inside who show proof of COVID vaccination.. just in case you're not vaccinated and would like to know that. The two stars is because they did do a great job on my dog's spay and hernia surgery. You can hardly even tell there was a long incision made, so that's noteworthy. After all of this, I switched Veterinarians, wait no longer than 2 minutes for an appointment, and was presented alternative monthly preventative options without seizure warning labels for consideration. Dr Kim prescribed insulin , vetoril and an appetite stimulant . We never used the appetite stimulate which was 50 bucks . I called and smoke to the you g woman who speaks so softly one cannot discern what she is saying .. she also can't book a simple appr w/ out putting one on hold ... I'm not sure what that is about, but really, neither here nor there . I called after the 1st shot of insulin, which worked like magic and told this young woman I would be bringing the appetite stimulant back as we had never used it, and all was accounted for . She said fine .. bring it in . My husband went to get BetteJoan's nails cut this morning , buy insulin, and return appetite stimulant . All good until he went to pay, and the return of the stimulant was refused . I generally take care of BetteJoan, so I asked to speak with this woman ( not the usual timid young woman aforementioned . This woman was rude and argumentative from the get . 2 times I poliely asked her to let me speak . Both times, she loudly spoke over me, The third time I attempted to tell the woman if she would not take the medicine back to just keep it and do what they wished with it . I , at this point, lost my cool and asked her to shut up so I could speak . She hung up on me, and my husband called me back to say we had been fired . I left where ai was and drove to Shaker Square ( we live near by on Shaker Blvd ) Dr Kim was standing at the front desk, and we greeted each other and I stated I was disappointed he had not listened to my side . A couple things I truly believe : the customer is not always right ... there are 3 sides to every story . I am still dissipated and told Dr Kim I believe his front office staff are a true representation of his practice . This true ; I drive my neighbor and her dog to him . He told us Sadie is in end stage liver disease and told me she would be gone in a month or less .. Sadie is still as mean and full of beans ad ever .. Doing fine . When the Dr was recently on vacation, a rather mean , uncaring type of woman was filling in for Dr Kim . Our Bette Joan was once again ill as before . I instinctively knew she needed to be upped from 3 units of insulin to 4 , but would not do it until she was seen This uncaring , unkempt poor excuse of nothing refused to see our dog . She I sister she was too busy and to take her 15 miles away to an emergency vet where a deposit of thousands us required to walk in the door . I insisted at the least BetteJoan's sugar level be taken. It was crazy high. I ssked if I should give her 4 units and was told emphatically NO . Ser how she is . I took her home , injected 4 units and voila .. our girl wad herself . When I asked Dr Kim if I had done the right thing, he said " absolutely yes " . At this point , after thinking of the day's bull---- I am relived we have been fired . Dr Kim's diagnostic skills are not top rate . He tends to laugh and shrug his shoulders a great deal . I now ultimately feel the need to express my disappointment in the casual, almost barely interested, attention brought by Dr. Welsh. On the first occasion, I came in out of concern from the sudden eruption of scab like blemishes on her skin--at diverging locations on her body. Dr. Welsh simply parted her fur to make a two foot distance cursory inspection, and then casually declared that they were all warts. He offered no explanation as to why warts might suddenly erupt at the same time, or whether that they might indicate any possible underlying issues. In fact he made no effort to inform me at least as much to reassure me to any small measure. He did not bother to examine these scabs with a magnifying glass to determine whether they even had any signature texture common to warts. He simply declared with authority that they were warts, and so I had no knowing recourse other than to defer to the certainty of the professional. But they weren't warts. Just as soon as they arrived, they fell off--only days after consulting Dr. Welsh. Which left me with the same questions that prompted me to pay for his services in the first place: namely, what were these scabs and what might they indicate about my dogs health? I know that I spoke plainly to Dr. Welsh on these concerns, and I remember only as much as literal and figurative shrugging of his shoulders. Yesterday, I paid the expense for another concern regarding the clear degradation of my dog's eyesight. This, out of love and concern for her and to determine if there was anything that we might be able to get ahead of that might be causing her diminishing vision: Medicine to improve blood flow in the eye or simply nutritional supplements...I am more capable at speculating about improving my dog's vision, than Dr. Welsh seems to be to expend the energy to blurt out any considerations that he was intended to pick up in vet college. A urinalysis was a given expectation as I had witnessed the tragic sadness of a friend whose dog went blind from diabetes. It was incredibly sad to see his dog barely move on the floor until my friend would guide her by the leash to the door. After I told Dr. Welsh that my dog had lost the ability to focus on treats dropped over her head so as to snap them out of the air, Dr. Welsh floated a couple of torn up pieces of light floating tissue in front of her--I suppose to see if my dog could focus on items descending only one tenth of the speed of a small, shooting dog treat. Dr. Welsh couldn't be bothered to offer any insights regarding what any owner might expect relative to their eight year old dogs vision, or whether my worry might be reasonable. With another figurative shrugging of his shoulders, he seemed to care little about my concern. Nor did he take my dog's stated and observed diminishing eyesight as much of anything worth exploring by committing to a more complete and caring examination-- --like why not examine my dog's response and skittishness when a rapidly moving treat is dropped over her head? The very benchmark action that brought me in to see Dr. Welsh. I think he used the entirely misrepresentative floating tissues only because no treats were nearby and he could make the effort to go into the adjacent room and retrieve some--why else would he not attempt to replicate the very action/response that brought me in to seek his reassuring council. Rather than making that simple action part of his exam, "Maybe go see a (highly expensive) canine Opthamologist," was his only recommendation. Why not say why? Why not offer some of the possible reasons and conditions that might bring an eight year old dog might begin losing her vision? And on, and on.... anything like that that a truly committed and caring vet--caring for both pet's well being and owner's piece of mind--would do as common practice. It leaves me with no other explanation than that you don't care or that you are simply jaded and are growing weary with what you (should) be doing. More concerned at cultivating a relatively easy and passive business for selling pet goods. I swear that I seem to get advertisements from your office twice a week. It's doubtful that I will regain the modicum of confidence necessary to trust your practice to care for my dog anytime again. Because you really don't seem to care all that much. PQ
