THE place you want to take your pets in an emergency! Keep this place bookmarked. I called for an emergency, within minutes I was checked in, on my way and my beloved cat was in safe welcoming hands. My Viva had a life threatening reaction to a flea treatment and was given the red carpet treatment from start to finish! Dr. Young is a sweetheart; calm, empathetic and a physician, not a salesman. Extremely well maintained and well appointed waiting room with phone chargers, snacks and plenty of room to relax. Prices are below what I've paid elsewhere (Yes even for emergency services). They are a full service Vet and I'd trust my very spoiled fur babies with their staff any day.

Just a warning their policy is that they will deem what they believe is priority. Meaning you can come in like myself at 5pm and not be seen nor checked up on till about 11pm and still waiting as I am writing this review. Again I understand emergencies and the priorities of emergencies. I came in with a mini Dauchsand with a swollen nose and was in pain with trouble breathing. Yet we were not deemed "critical" which again understood I do not know what is happening behind the scenes. But it took me to approach the desk and ask where my dog was how he was doing and when we will see the doctor. The staff were nice, but my thing is if this institution markets a big building that can house all these animals "patients" yet it's all empty because your policy is 2 animals per doc and you only has 1 or 2 docs on shift all day. I know because I was in your building most of the day. Front desk thank you for being kind the staff in general were kind but the way you run things and the policy needs revised. It's disrespectful to the people and their time.

This is a picture of our girl just to keep her loving memory! Miss you maggie!

Unfortunately we had to bring our dog in for a end of life situation. They are the only vet in the area open 24 hours. It was just a little past midnight and we made the choice to go. We were met with very kind staff from the very beginning. The vet tech triaged us in the lobby, took our dog in the the back to get her comfortable. The receptionist checked us in. They have a great computer system that shows what have been done and how long each step has taken. The wait can take time but it is an ER. They take situations by priority, we were critical because our dog was likely going to continue to decline rapidly. Our wait wasn't terrible. The doctor was so kind and gentle. She agreed the best thing was to let our baby go and that there was no way to help her long term and only give her some time. We think she possibly even had stroke so that wasn't really an option for us. Her gentle nature was so appreciated and she took everything step by step. They are pricey, I don't go there if you are in a tight spot for sure! It was about double then my regular vet. The most expensive part was the private cremation (which is on the company they use) and I can say the turn around is super fast. They hand deliver the remains to you (they require you to be home) and it saves you the toture of having to pick up the box. As I am writing this we are waiting for the delivery today. We put her down around 2am yesterday. So the turn around time is so fast. Like I said if you don't have the money I don't know if they don't have payment plans or something. This was my moms dog and she luckily could afford the payment. I on the other hand would have been using my credit card lol. If ever in a pinch though they are truly some of the kindest people I have encountered at a vets office from top to bottom. They take their job seriously and understand they are dealing with people at a tough time.

I've spent 20+ minutes on hold multiple times, only to be disconnected. Most concerning, my dog's test results came in on a Saturday morning, and I wasn't informed until Wednesday evening. I was told the doctor was off, but no one from the office contacted me in the meantime. Unfortunately, that delay meant my puppy stayed sick and uncomfortable longer than necessary. I've also had repeated issues with prescriptions being called in, only to later be told there was "no record" of my request. After more than 10 years as a client, it's really disappointing to see the level of communication and organization decline so much. I truly hope things improve, but sadly I will not be returning. Better communication, accountability, and empathy toward both pets and their owners are greatly needed.

YES you should take your pet here if you would like them to die…read more Over 20 years of pet ownership and 12 pets ... this is THE WORST experience I have ever had with a veterinary clinic. I trusted this clinic with my sick dog, and they treated her with such carelessness and lack of compassion. During her visit, my dog was dropped while already in a fragile condition. The IV placement was handled so roughly that she was cut so deeply she had scars on her skin. Watching someone treat an already suffering animal, MY best friend this way... was heartbreaking. We were told her bloodwork, and samples would be back in 1-3 days, and based on that information they placed her on the maximum dose of pain medication and sent us off with the bill. When we asked reasonable questions about whether this could become a recurring issue, the vet gave what felt like a completely dismissive and patronizing response, reducing our concerns to, "Cancer is bad," and explaining what cancer is instead of addressing our actual questions. We weren't asking for a textbook definition... We were asking about our dog's future. After four days of complete silence, we had to call because our dog's condition was rapidly worsening. She was in obvious pain, losing weight, unable to eat, the mass was growing quickly, and she had started urinating on herself without the ability to even keep her head up. Only then were we told that the results would actually take closer to 1-2 weeks completely contradicting what we had originally been told. 1 week after still hearing nothing, we called again looking for answers. Instead of concern for our dying dog, we were told we needed to pay more money and that our bill for the tests was due. Even though we had already paid around $480 at the visit, for that testing and treatment. The lack of communication was unacceptable. The lack of urgency was unacceptable. The lack of empathy was unacceptable. At no point did anyone reach out to check on our dog or keep us informed. We spent days desperately chasing updates while watching her deteriorate. Whether the lab was delayed or not, the clinic's communication, professionalism, and compassion were entirely within their control, and in my experience, they failed on every one of those fronts. I cannot recommend this clinic to anyone. Based on my experience, I would never trust them with another animal. TO PET OWNERS - As my dog was pleading for help, scared and unable to understand what was going on with her, VCA failed us. Please do not take your best friend to this clinic. You will lose them.

Several EMERGENCY vets near me were closing within a few minutes leaving my only option being Stark County Veterinary EMERGENCY in Canton. I called ahead told the lady on the phone my dog's symptoms. She responded with a diagnosis of some sort of leg complication or disease. Ha? Made no sense to me. She asked me if he was UTD on his shots. I said yes and all of my pups were scheduled for their yearly check-up this Tuesday, June 23, 2026. She immediately stated, 'Ok, when you bring him in, it's $120 for the office visit and the Dr. will want to do x-rays and those 'start' at $650 and they'll want to do several.' Ok. I appreciate the honesty and heads-up but how do 'you' know what's going to be required??? I didn't say anything. She spoke again 'We expect payment in full upon the first visit. Cash or credit. We don't accept any payment plans.' I get that. I responded I'll be bringing him in. She said 'ok'. I drove the 50 min to the clinic. I pulled into a parking spot yet curious as to why the spots were numbered. Understand that UNLESS you back your vehicle into a spot you will not see signage on the building. I approach the door. It's locked. Understandable. The sign says to ring the bell. I did. The receptionist answered and said can I help you? I said yes, I just called about my Morkie and he needs medical attention. She says 'Did you call the number on the sign upon your arrival?' I said what number? She told me to back up into the parking lot and to call the number on the building and she would talk to me from my phone and not the intercom....??? So, holding my dog, I did as she asked and no answer. I went back to the intercom and told her there was no answer. She said I had to have dialed an incorrect number. I pushed my phone up against the glass and the number was correct showing it had been ringing for 1 min and 29 sec. She said 'ma'am, you need to get back into your vehicle and call me from there. I did as she said but very shaken as I was worried about my dog and their concern was ONLY I needed to retreat back to my vehicle. So, I did. I called the number again. This person then asked me about my dogs vaccinations. Has he had 2 or 3? Has he been tested for PARVO? I reiterated AGAIN, he is UTD on all his vaccines and provided her with Richardson's Animal Hospital info. This initial back and forth went on for about 15 min. She said since I couldn't provide proof of his shots and PARVO test results, they would send a tech out to my vehicle and perform the bloodwork and after the results if negative, I could bring him in. I'm leaving out a lot of the nonsense back and forth. I think she was rude. It was at the point where I said that I have driven nearly an hour for them to see my distressed pup and greeted with a borage of all these tests and procedures, that may prove unnecessary, BEFORE I walk thru their door, and her response as she scoffed. 'Ma'am, this is protocol and we have people drive for hours to get here and we have declined them service.' After I agreed to the pre-admission testing, I sat there for a few minutes, started my car and left. It was after having a very lengthy time, waiting in my car, I looked at Stark County Veterinary Emergency Google and BBB reviews, I was confident in my decision based on 2 star rating and multiple similar instances. I decided my best bet was to reach out to Dr. Tim (Richardso's Animal Hospital) first thing in the morning. Update: Morkie is back to normal and I sincerely believe that his grooming day prior and anal gland expression was the issue. He was experiencing some discomfort (normal) and was perfectly fine by the time we got home and back to his normal ornery self this morning. I should have calculated the 2 star review rating against the 54 reviews submitted and driven him further to a more reputable clinic. In the end, all is good.
