Such a GREAT find in "the middle of nowhere" (for us city dwellers it's a pretty out-there drive). Hubs likes to drive, I like to find good food. Put that together and you will end up here! This place has it all. We went on a Saturday and it was quiet with a slow trickle of people coming in and leaving. Great classic country playing. They brew their own beer and have a pretty extensive list. They have ciders too! Also, you can get a flight. It's not listed on their menu, but if you ask, they do flights of 6. That's what we got. (3 ciders and 3 beers). Beers and ciders were awesome! I wish I took a picture of the beer list so I could tell you the best, but the jalapeño one was fun and actually paired really well with my flatbread, the black currant ginger cider was DELICIOUS and our favorite beer wassss...a mixed berry bush? Lol something like that. Look for the berry one. The food was OUTSTANDING. Literally top 3 best pizzas I've ever had. My husband got the '3 Rivers' and like a piece of art, I had to sit and process the complexity of flavors with each bite. The thing is, I HATE pineapple on pizza. Absolutely despise it. But I gave this one a shot anyway and oh, my, goodness! THE best!! I got the "Tilly" and it was quite delicious, but the 3 Rivers is where it's at! Great beer? Check! Awesome food? Check! Nice vibe? Check! When I'm looking for a cold one in a quaint mountain town, River Time is worth the drive to Darrington. It's quickly become one of our favorite stops when we're camping in the area, and is a great place to stop in, drink a pint or two, and enjoy a game of cribbage. Bonus if it's a sunny day and we can enjoy their lovely beer garden. What really sets River Time apart is their delish food. We're in major "like" with their Three Rivers pizza. It's a flatbread-style pie, prepared on-site in their tiny kitchen area, and features all sorts of yumminess. Whenever we go, we think we're going to try a different pizza this time. Nope, we always end up with the Three Rivers! As someone who appreciates a maltier beer, I appreciate that they always have an amber or red ale on tap. On our most recent visit, I tried their new copper ale which was delish. They also have cider on tap if you're not a beer lover. And the staff is soooo friendly, too! read more

We frequent this restaurant when in town and definitely worth a stop! I'm not a beer drinker but have enjoyed the cider offerings they've had - the blush was most recently introduced and definitely a new favorite The pizzas and grinders previously ordered have been decent but the typhoon has been a game changer with its unique flavoring. My son doesn't usually order pepperoni as he doesn't like the slices falling off but was willing to appease his sister. He was pleasantly surprised the pepperoni was baked UNDER the cheese - a game changer for him, lol We also got the large nachos which is HUGE. Probably a bag's worth of chips. Speaking of which, they use Juanita's- the BEST tortilla chips!!! Stopped here for pizza and beer after a long day in the mountains. I think the food was probably pretty normal for a brewpub, but after a day of eating only gels and clif bars, it tasted heavenly. Came pretty late so it wasn't too busy; just a few tables of locals. Bartender (owner, possibly?) was friendly and helpful. Would be happy to return next time I'm in the area. read more

I don't know where to start...the food is absolutely amazing! The root beer on tap is my go-to, since I don't drink anymore, but everybody I know raves about all of the beers! The brewers are often in the brewery and are happy to talk about the beers and everything that goes into them! I think my favorite part though, is the staff! We arrived early on a Saturday afternoon after a reconnaissance of some trailheads on the Mountain Loop Highway. The ordering process was easy and efficient. the beer selection was good and the ESB we selected of high quality. The nachos and flatbread pizza were well prepared and tasty. We were passing through on our way back from a day trip and needed to find a dog-friendly place to grab a bite to eat. Encouraged by the great reviews, we chose River Time Brewing. What a great place! Staff were extremely personable and helpful with our selection of beverages. We ordered 3 flatbreads and we were throughly impressed with the freshness of the ingredients, especially the veggies! We'd recommend this place for their food and beverages, and they have plenty of seating options from the front patio to the inside bar-height tables/stools to the dozen or so picnic tables out back. They even have a dog bowl full of water, and bags to pick up any waste. Very dog friendly. read more

This is a 2015 review that I'm just now moving over so it shows up under the new location. There wasn't a Yelp entry for the new location back then. For most beer lovers, this place is quite a ways past any other place where you've stopped for a beer. Down the valley and almost up into the mountains--part of the fun of having a beer here is having a great drive out here. I opted to come around the southern loop, which includes 13 unpaved miles (though only a few hundred yards of serious potholes this autumn), and arrived feeling like Darrington was a million miles from anywhere...rather than just a hundred miles from anywhere. It's a small town in a mountain valley, and the river rules the land out here. In fact, this brewery moved just this summer because the Sauk River (namesake of the establishment) was eating away at the land under the old location. So they took over the old Darrington City Hall, put in a bunch of tanks and a bar, and here we are. Stories like this are part of the fun. If you're habituated to life in the city, the hustle and bustle of people and traffic make your days feel a lot different than your time out here will. As soon as you walk through the door (multiple front doors stood open on a sunny Saturday), the head brewer greets you from behind the bar with a jolly holler. You feel like you've arrived someplace where friends gather, even though there's a good chance of other first-time tourists inside. But from the outside it all seems quiet. It's a city hall for a very tiny town, so it's only a few hundred square feet on each of two floors. You park in a gravel parking lot next door (how long ago was this the town hall?) under a tree, and the ground isn't fully level. There aren't many signs outside. Just sandwich boards, in fact. There aren't many cars on the roads out here, and everything's quiet. You're in a clearing after plowing through miles of forest carpeting the valleys, and you can turn around in several directions and see mountain faces standing straight up. You're not in the Emerald City anymore, that's for sure. Inside, they're open for business, but will probably continue to update the layout a bit as revenue accumulates. There's a big long bar, with multiple beers on tap, comfortable stools, and a couple of powder rooms along the back wall. Air and light flow freely through here. Behind the bar and farther in back are rows of kettles and tanks. There's an upstairs that isn't doing anything yet, and there's a bit of space for a merchandising table that's still really nothing more than a table. You're getting here just a step up from the ground floor--they know what they're doing, for sure, but they're just gathering momentum. There are townfolk, ponytailed bikers, cheerful afternoon day-trippers, and others lined up on the barstools. People are trying everything, and asking the barman lots of questions. Between rounds, he's cleaning up in the brewhouse, moving stuff, explaining brewing science, and still keeping an eye on everyone's glass. It's that small in here. Such a great feel to it. They do take credit cards, and they do have wi-fi. And they love to give you a hard time for being addicted to your phone. But they're friendly and fun about it. There's no food here, but you could probably bring your own. At this point, they're still dialing in the new system a little bit, but they're a lot closer than most brewhouses that have only been operational for a few weeks. They had a couple of kolsches, a couple of IPAs, and a couple other things, including the Big E Blackberry, occupying the guest tap (evidently they have this one on quite often). read more

I was out on an adventure and decided I needed a place to enjoy a cold beer on a hot day. I searched this out on yelp, verified they were open and followed up on the website online. With so few reviews I wasn't really sure what to expect, and it looked like at some point they had a 2nd location which is no longer open. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a parking lot, a cute outdoor area, and plenty of room inside, even 2 bathrooms which always excites me. My friend who seeks out breweries in this area was surprised that this had been here for the past 3 years without her knowledge. I never expect great food from a brewery since most seem to not have any, but was pleased to see a menu from here online. I was even more excited to see they had vegan cheese on the menu (for 2$ extra) and could use it to make some flatbreads. Unfortunately on my visit they were out of the vegan cheese and the kalamata olives, but I was still able to enjoy a delicious cheeseless pizza. The nachos looked huge. I really liked the "Notorious" P.I.G. which is a pepper beer made with jalapenos. I've been telling everyone about how much I liked this and am so happy to learn this is a regular beer. I also enjoyed a brown IPA which was unique and tasty. The employees were super friendly. The building is very cool and has a lot of history. Definitely stop by if you are in town. read more

We were driving through Darrington after hiking and trying to find a place to grab some food when we were saw "beer and pizza" painted up in the 2nd story window on the outside of a a historic building. My girlfriends and I stopped in here for a few slurps after hiking. Free parking can be found in the parking lot. Discover is an accepted form of payment. Seating can be found at the bar or at the single picnic table inside. The brewery is family friendly and is quite apparent by all the drawings displayed on the walls. There is one foosball table as well. Nice touch River Time. There is no kitchen, therefore no food available. Snack sized potato chips can be purchased. Patrons can bring in their own food to nibble on while slurping tasty cold brews. Since there is no kitchen, brews are served in plastic cups. There is a small area where River Time paraphernalia is offered: growlers, t-shirts etc... It was apparent by the friendly banter among-st the patrons, their families and staff, that this joint is a local watering hole. I ordered a couple of pints of Red Ale for $4. Tasty, full-bodied and cold. Hit the spot and paired well with my home-made sub sandwich. Service was friendly and knowledgeable. Thank you River Time for offering such a laid back place for the three of us to unwind and refuel after a long day in the forest. read more

We came for a quick bite and beer after Diablo Lake. We weren't disappointed. Friendly service as soon as we walked in. I had the red ale first which was great, but my curiosity started itching about the jalapeño beer. Wow. I loved it! Absolutely amazing if you like a little kick. I've never had a beer actually taste like a jalapeño. I got a growler for home it was so good. Don't think I forgot about the food. The sandwich and pizza were both perfectly cooked and delicious.
