Service was prompt and friendly and they had gf designations on their menu which made my life easy. I had the house salad and the apricots on top were delish. The husband of mine had a pizza which he said was the indulgence he was craving. Our friend had the curry soup of the day, fried cheese curds and a cider tasting. Everything was good. They had some cute stuff in their shop inside and I secured myself a perfect fox hat. Next time we come back to San Juan we'll definitely stop in again. read more

This is a really cool, spacious brewery setup over on San Juan Island. It has a great local pub energy, making it an easy place to want to gather, grab a drink, and hang out with a group. The food was a bit of a mixed bag. The pizza was definitely not good, honestly, pretty much everything about it fell short. On the plus side, the beet salad was good, and the chicken wings were tasty as well. The overall ambiance here is super fun and lively. However... the service left a lot to be desired because the kitchen was incredibly SLOW. We were dining with kids, and it took a massive 50 minutes just to get our children their food off the kids' menu. Not even our main meals, just the kids' items! Needless to say, by the time the food finally arrived, our kids were completely starving. Management, please make it a point to ensure that when parents order off the kids' menu, those items are prioritized and brought out much earlier so the little ones can eat... While the space itself is great for a drink, the massive kitchen delays make it tough for a family dinner. I'd say it's fine to check out for a beer and some wings, but if you have young kids with you, be prepared for a long wait. read more

Our waitress was super great, very friendly and gave us good recommendations on beers based on our preferences. I got their Yachter's Daughter and it was light and fresh. For food, we got their Dinner Island Proscuitto and it was loaded with prosciutto. I would have liked more fresh basil (maybe even fresh ones) on top. First meal on San Juan Island! I didn't order an entree, just two appetizers for lunch. I loved my calamari and hummus plate. The cabbage salad under the calamari was so refreshing. The calamari was crunchy and savory, and it was good both with and without the dipping sauce. The hummus plate was very light yet flavorful and actually filled me up well. The garlic on top was the highlight of the dish. My partner said his black bean burger was just mid, but the fries were good. The only thing I need to complain about is that it took us about 30 minutes to get our food, and I was borderline starving. The staff were friendly too. read more

A decent spot for a bite, lots of ciders and beer - learned the hard way this is NOT the same as San Juan Seltzers which was disappointing (not their fault, obvi). Chose this restaurant since it was one of few American fare still open later in the day and close to the ferry terminal. Service was friendly, we were at a high top table covered by the bartender who had a nearly full bar top. We were forgotten about for a bit but nothing walking up to the bar to order for our table of 6 didnt solve. Food was as to be expected, chicken tenders were on the smaller side and slightly lackluster in flavor. We left with full bellies and empty plates, so I would definitely give other dishes a try. First meal in the San Juan Islands and it was a great one! My family and I spent the afternoon exploring the island and were looking forward to kicking back, having a bite, and a drink. San Juan Island Brewing called to us as it's conveniently near town and dog-friendly. We arrived on a gorgeous Sunday evening. We sat outside due to having our pup and luckily there was no wait! There are several long communal tables, some with umbrellas and some not. We sat under an umbrella but it didn't cover all of the sun. Inside is very spacious with nice viewing areas and plenty of tables for all party sizes. The vibe all around was laid-back and pleasant. The service by our waitress was wonderful. She provided great recommendations and things came out swiftly. My family and I all ordered our dishes but we did share the Pub Pretzel. I had the Wild Salmon Sandwich as my main. The pretzel was phenomenal--so freaking soft, right salt ratio, and lovely mustard dip. My salmon sandwich was heavenly. I love salmon and in Washington, you just have to get it. The salmon was buttery and rich, the peppers provided a little kick, and the sandwich was very filling! My family enjoyed their meals and we all took our fair share to go. I highly recommend coming to San Juan Island Brewing for good food and a drink if you're visiting Friday Harbor. I wouldn't mind coming back! The restaurant is off A Street and easy to find as it's a big building, there's also a giant parking lot out front. read more

Friendly staff, quick service, and delicious food summed up our memorable experience. This was the first restaurant we tried when we arrived on the island and ended up being one of our favorites. The menu's drink to food pairing recommendations helped us save time on deciding what to order. She was super pleasant and attentive. I ordered a flight of beers, all very good, and my wife ordered a glass of rose. First stop to refuel upon arrival in Friday Harbor. The restaurant was really busy but they were able to set up a table and get us seated quite quickly. The brewery is very rustic with open beams and high ceilings. Lots of tables with glass doors that open out onto a large front deck. The hummus platter came with doughy, undercooked bread that was covered in flour and made a mess more than anything. The chicken tender app wasn't any better--low-quality chicken and barely any sauce to go with it. Bar service was lackluster, and to top it off, we overheard staff openly talking trash about each other behind the bar--not exactly the vibe you want while trying to enjoy a drink. We really enjoyed the beer--my husband liked the American Lager and Lighthouse IPA, and I was so glad to find the gluten-free Ghostfish Vanishing Point Pale Ale. The carafe of room-temperature water was a thoughtful touch, and the bartender was the highlight of the night: super friendly, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. The space itself has a great vibe. That said, our quoted 30-40 minute wait stretched to over an hour, and it was another 40 minutes after ordering before our pizza arrived. The cauliflower crust was tasty, but the sauce, toppings, and prosciutto didn't quite land for us, so we didn't end up finishing. Really enjoyed this spot when we visited this week. It's located a few minutes off the ferry on San Juan Island. Plenty of parking, indoor and outdoor seating, vegan options available which was a plus. Inside it's very nice and clean, woody and classic brewery style with very high ceilings and a view of the brewing through the window at the bar. Ordered their SJ Pelsner which I liked, it was nice and light. Portabella Caprese sandwich, Bacon Blue Chicken sandwich and two kid options. Everything tasted good and service was great! Our server Sara T. was nice and always had a smile on her face when checking in on us. Afterwards we headed over to their merch area within the dining space and purchased a few t-shirts and a SJB trucker hat which I really liked. It was a drizzly day and this was a welcome place to try out beverages and food! Outdoor covered seating as well as plenty inside. Great place for big groups and couples. It has its own parking lot with is rare in that area of Friday Harbor. The hummus plate was quite large and homemade pita!! We really like led the salmon sandwich- typically you get a small fillet but this was thick and larger than the bun! The interior is spacious, perfectly embodying the essence of a rural PNW island brewery with lots of wood and big windows with views of evergreen trees to the outside and the brewing operation on the inside. I have had San Juan Brewing beer a couple of times and both occasions were excellent beer experiences. The first beer I had was a while back and I thought very highly of it. It was the Yachter's Daughter Helles Lager. I do live Helles Lagers and this was really a great one. With flavor notes of crisp, clean, a bit biscuity and floral this Helles Lager is virtually a perfect one in my mind. It has a smooth body and is bright in color. The beer I have had most recently from San Juan Brewing was the Outer Island IPA. This beer was very good as well. In my mind it creates a signature unique to many IPA'S so I can't say that it tastes all too similarly to IPA'S I have had in the past on the occasions where the flavor profiles just blur all together. Flavors to find in this beer are citrus, pine, fruitiness and bitterness. All usual characteristics to an IPA but what I really liked with this IPA is the briskness it had in it's flavor profile which gives it a highly refreshing quality. read more
