Atmosphere was great with seating right on the River front. Waitress and staff in dining area were great However, the food was poor quality and took almost an hour to receive our food once we ordered. Felt that waiting that long for appetizers and sandwiches is ridiculous. They have also increased their prices and not improved food quality or service. Nice place if you just want to sit, have drinks and enjoy the atmosphere. But, if your hungry and hope to actually eat I suggest looking into a different restaurant. read more

Never left a bad review of a place that we frequently go to, but here it is. Sat down at the bar around 7, ordered drinks and apps. No issues there, after about 15 minutes we ordered our main meal (double lighthouse burger with fries and a BLT with fries). Took almost 45 minutes to get to us, and after asking when the food would be arriving. Mind you, it was not busy at all. The burger was half cooked (raw as can be on the inside). Got charged for each item that was added onto the burger; mayo, lettuce, pickle, and ranch on the side. Dinner with 2 beers and 2 mixed drinks were in at 81$. Been a frequent customer for a very long time and never came that close to that amount. Picture will be posted below of the receipt. Will definitely not be returning unfortunately. read more

All about the view, it is about the view of the Ohio River. The service staff is friendly and short staffed. Be patient. The food was tasty, served up quickly and the fish and chips came with three large filets. The soup of the day was a mildly spicey creamy chicken soup. Ice cold beers. They are closing soon for the winter, glad to have found this spot floaring on the barge and enjoying the view and good food with family. read more

Under new ownership and totally updated, I was pleasantly surprised. Typical bar food menu and decent prices. The drink prices are very good. Outside seating and live music it will be a great place hang out during nice weather. Since it is a floating restaurant it is subject to the river flooding and debris. Attached to a dock so you can boat in to the restaurant. They operate on cash only right now and warn you at the top of the stairs. They also have an atm onsite. I had the fried fish and shrimp combo basket. Shrimp were butterflied and coated in a standard batter. Fish were described as loins, but they were more like a thick filet. Standard wine offering and bourbon/whiskey selection starts with beam and jack, ends at makers mark. Our crew will be back. read more

We come to Madison 5-6 times a year and this is always our favorite stop. The food is always fantastic. The bartenders work wonders at the bar. The owner stops to talk to you. When they have live music it's always a treat to watch them sway with waves as they play. read more

The place was nearly empty on a mostly rainy Monday. We had a very sweet server who made great recommendations. Their southwest egg rolls were unique and delicious. I had the cod basket and it was very good. My husband had a classic breaded pork tenderloin sandwich and said it was also very good. We were hesitant about this place because of the average rating but decided to try it out because it was one of the only places open in the sleepy town of Madison. We love eating at this restaurant on a beautiful sunny day. The view is spectacular, the kids can feed the fish, the food is excellent, and staff is friendly. Walking there could be a challenge for some as the walkway is fairly steep, but it's worth it. Restrooms are clean (if you have a baby though, there's no place to change a diaper). I wanted to like this place, but it was impossible. We went for a late lunch (around 1:00) and had to wait to get seated even with lots of open seating. Had two kids with me that were restless. Once seated we were greeted and our drink orders were taken. Once drinks came they took our food order. Kids pizza is a pre-made frozen pizza. That is not uncommon so I was not upset. I ordered a sandwich, husband order boneless Buffalo wings, and kid got pizza. After a VERY long wait, over 45 minutes, food came. All the food was cold, boneless Buffalo wings had no sauce on them, and kid pizza was black. Refills on drinks were not offered. I had to ask for a refill on my kid's drink. My husband asked for Buffalo sauce on the side and he never got it. Once someone finally returned, the rest of us were done with our food and I reported my child would not eat the pizza. One bite was taken out of the pizza and none of the chips were eaten. We were offered for them to remake the meal but we said no due to the fact we had to get home and my child had ended up eating off my plate anyways. When the check was brought back we were told they could only give us 50% off on the burnt pizza. I will NEVER be returning to this place. It is sad since it has much potential with being able to pull our boat up to the dock and eat. They lost our business for sure. read more

The view is nice, and the music adds to the bar setting. Even during this COVID the seating is plenty. We were greeted with a smile and politeness. The cod fish is lightly cooked to the perfection of falling apart and just delicious. I would come back and try the shrimp. read more

We've now been sitting here for TWO HOURS with no food. Took our server 45 minutes to even take our order. Granted, there's two servers taking care of this entire outside area. But why would they only have 2 servers on a Saturday if their outside seating area is so large??? Not impressed with how anything has gone so far. Will see how the food turns out I guess.... if we weren't so hungry we'd have just walked out. Haven't gotten any refills at all ever. Had to go to the bar to get our own drinks. Update!!! Never going back. First couple of times I went there it took longer than forever to order and then to get our food. The coleslaw was horrible, the kind they deliver that has been in a bag for a few days, kinda foamy? Owner says "everyone likes it." I suggested they need to make it fresh. It was still the same weeks later, tonight. The guy next to me said he NEVER eats it. Different bartenders make different size margaritas. Same guy next to me laughed because his was bigger. After all of this, I held my debit/credit card up for over 5 minutes to get their attention, she tells me "we only take cash, it was on the dry erase board when you came in." WOW, must be nice to only take cash. WTH? Not going back. They need to get their act together. read more

Came for lunch the first time Sunday! NEVER AGAIN. Our waitress had no bra on and 2 very noticeably pierced nipples that even my 8 year old daughter noticed. It took her 15-20 mins to return with drinks! Ordered a patty melt. It came cold with no thousand island dressing like the menu says. I can't remember what my boyfriend ordered but I do know he was less than impressed as well. Seems like they don't actually make any of their own food, they're just deep frying or grilling frozen food. Nothing seemed very fresh. You have to seat yourself and hope a server notices you, and once you get your food they don't check on you. We actually would have ordered more drinks if they had. We won't be back, there are plenty of better places to eat in Madison. read more

As you walk up to the restaurant you have an idea of what you are getting into... the steep walk down the ramp will not be kind to the elderly or children beware. Inside you will find limited, cramped seating with a bustling short order style kitchen. The best place to sit and enjoy the view is the outdoor seating, highly recommended. The outdoor atmosphere was a mix between a red lobster and dirty fishing barge. The operation is cash only which is a downer for me. They do have two ATM's on site, one of which did not work and for a $3 convenience fee you can have access to your money. The service was a little unfriendly and not very helpful. Having young children with us seemed to agitate the staff. Moving a table together only fanned the fire. After several minutes, we were finally offered the chance to order. We tried to order drinks and food together but we're interrupted when our waitress walked off... The kiddos had grilled cheese and chicken tenders, my wife had a fish sandwich and I went with the chicken club. The food was decent about what you would expect from a "bar" style restaurant. No drink refills were offered even when I prompted the waitress. One plus to the restaurant is the ability to feed the fish with the left over food. Poor service, cash only, and mediocre food... stick to Main St when you are in Madison. read more

Pretty average place to dine. Nice view, okay service. I got the chicken Parmesan sandwich which was pretty great. However, the others I was dining with did not have a similar experience. The tenderloin I was told tasted like fish. They also advertised bbq pork egg rolls but when they arrived to the table it was regular egg rolls with bbq sauce on them and ranch on the side. I guess that's what it says it is, but I was expecting bbq and pork stuffed in the egg roll. Wouldn't recommend this place if you are wanting a nicer dining experience but for a quick lunch and a drink it wasn't too bad. read more

They are biker friendly & both workers & customers on both sides of me were so freaking nice! One recommended the burger & another the shrimp basket - The shrimp basket won! And did it ever!?!?! Staying briefly in Madison we decided to have lunch here on a Saturday during Memorial Day weekend. It was busy, but not packed. So thankful this day to get out of the sun and sit in a shaded place for some lunch. The waitress who brought us our menus said it might take a bit of time since they were a bit busy, but we were in no rush so that was fine with us. We got to order drinks and food pretty quickly anyway and drinks where then served not long after. As always it surprised me with the inflexibility at some restaurants when ordering. I don´t eat potatoes (not chips, not fries etc). When asking if I could have two servings of the slaw that was coming with my burger instead, the waitress friendly shook her head and said it wasn't possible... My burger was then served without the potato chips, but of course, still charging me full price, even if I don´t get the same worth. Food tasted good! Ice tea was cold and good. I saw that one of the other waiters refilled the ice tea to his guests without them asking for it, but that was not happening at our table, and I didn´t ask for it either. Service was promt, even though it was a bit busy, food was ok (far from wow, but still ok). Location is really what one is paying for choosing this restaurant, and its a great location, just on Ohio River! read more

New ownership, same lousy service. My husband, 3 kids and I just walked out 9pm on a Friday after "seating ourselves" per the whiteboard then waiting 20 minutes for not one server to greet us (this is after we wiped down our own table with a baby wipe). Went inside to the usual server-hangout where everyone is chit chatting - no change here since previous owner - and told Meah, we have 15 minutes left in the kitchen (9pm on a Friday in July). I guess the servers aren't eager for a table of 5 on a Friday. Restaurant wasn't full at all! Maybe half full - juke box going loud, bar tenders serving in the bar area but I guess family dining isn't a priority. I can't understand this place, been coming here for years hoping for a change, hoping, hoping, hoping. What a waste of an awesome location and the renovations look much better . . . Same lousy management and service. Some things never change and some people don't know an opportunity when they are smacked in the face with it. Sad, really sad. read more

There weren't that many people there that day. 3 tables with customers. thats it. they had at least 3 servers on duty. So after I nearly got up and walked out for non service someone comes up to me ask what I'd like to drink.... They take my drink order it took another 30 minutes to get my drink order. Then I ordered food. That took about an hour to get the food to my table after ordering. The chicken was under cooked. the cole slaw was nasty had a bug in it. I showed it to the server she did take it off my bill. I won't be back! Go elsewhere. read more

I really wanted to like this place. With being right on the water, it's the type of atmosphere we like. However, we walked in and were ignored. When I asked whether we were to seat ourselves or wait, we got a very irritated "I'll get you in a minute." That one disappeared. Another woman, not even sure if she was wait staff, told us about 10 minutes later to go find a seat. We did and were completely ignored again for at least 20 minutes. I had two teenagers with me or I would have gone to the bar side because it appeared more people there actually were eating. Several tables on our side had nothing or only drinks with no servers in sight. When we finally decided to leave, another family of four left right behind us. They also had not had any service. Very sad situation. If this is typical, not sure how they are still open. read more

The menu is run of the mill pub food. Ribeye sandwich was a bit tough the beer made up for it though (Yuengling, not available in KY). The kiddos enjoyed the coleslaw, patty melt, and cheeseburger. Downside is they only accept cash, glad I noticed the sign at the top of the ramp or I'd been washing dishes. The big draw is being able to dine on the river and not just next to it. Kids loved feeding the ducks and catfish fries and bread. Was a great choice for family dining but not too fancy and reasonably priced. read more

This place has great food and great tunes. Not to great on service tho. The staff seems very distracted and focused on other things.

Drinks are OK and staff fairly friendly. Nice view of river from 1/2 of the bar. But...you won't get the "welcome" you will at other establishments. Staff most often is too busy either gossiping amongst themselves, complaining about management or each other or trying to get a break that you get lost in the shuffle. I was recently here when two people were smoking in the bar - one a pipe and one a cigar. Smoking cigarettes is one thing and I get that but trying to serve food in the same environment where strong flavored tobacco is allowed is quite another. We could not even finish our meals. When asked why we didn't eat our meals and the reason was given we were told that the owner allowed pipes and cigars and they couldn't do anything about it. It's too bad that such a nice location has to be off limits for those of us who want to taste our food and not pipe/cigar smoke. Not complaining about cigarettes - even though I don't smoke - because it doesn't have such a pungent odor to mess up my food. Also, in case you wonder, I sent a private message to this same effect on FB over 4 days ago with no response. I gave them an opportunity to answer but all I received was the auto-reply. Day trip from NW Indy. 2 hours 20 minutes door to door. Overall the town is a GREAT destination. If you dig old architecture and waterfront it's an A+. Super motorcycle ride down. Great burger, the little woman had what she termed a "very good" chicken salad which is a rare rating. We really like waterfront joints. This is really a joint and or dive. Service was good but it was 3pm on a Sunday so not much of a test. Once again not a fufu location but a very good bar fare location. The unknown diner digs it! Great biker destination. read more
