We had a wonderful date night experience at Riverhouse. We did not have reservations, but they were able to seat us at an intimate table for two. Our waitress Brenda, greeted us and was knowledgeable about the specials and menu and provided amazing customer service the entire night. We'd arrived hoping for a burger (because they popped up when we searched "burgers" in Glen Rose). Well, that was on the lunch menu, but the chef graciously agreed to make us two. Chicken salad sandwich was poor at best with regard to how much was actually on the sandwich. The photo was after sending it back. When the sandwich originally arrived the salad looked more like a mayonnaise spread with small chicken pieces. It's really more the consistency of tuna fish and not worthy of the $10.95 price. When I asked for a normal amount of chicken salad my plate was returned with barely anymore chicken and the same sweet potato fries which were cold by that time. Weak effort at making this better. Lively, friendly and attentive service. Water glass never went dry. They have full bar and solid wine list for country river town. All the food was well presented and flavorful. Dinner rolls before entree were tender with slight hint of sweetness, served with garlic infused evoo. Entree special was sesame incrusted ahi tuna on bed of white rice and summer vegetables, all cooked to perfection. Was going to share tuna was not the most tender I've had, but it was only the first three strips out of five. The last two, were longer and thicker, and so yummy (technical term) tender. Not sure if it was cooked on uneven heat or difference in thickness of the ahi tuna. Now the key lime was not driven to here. Made from scratch on site with thick sweet gram cracker crust, just the way I like it. Would recommend to anyone. Price was very reasonable. In the city it would been twice the charge. I can't say enough praises about Riverhouse Grill. If I was to give any negative comments it would be how much it pains me to see such a beautiful historical home turned into a business. Typically, I am not a fan of homes turned into restaurants but this is an exception. The home has been kept in tack both structurally and decoratively. Offers both indoor and outdoor dining. We dined on the porch on a beautiful Saturday evening. Both the service and food was delicious. The chef was outstanding. We selected the salmon which came with a rice and grilled vegetables. My companion and I both loved the vegetables and could not figure out what she was using for the flavor. Was just wonderful. We inquired with the server after we both couldn't figure it out. Compliments to the chef, I now know but I will leave you to guess. The Mac and Cheese was another home run. Not over cooked. The pasta still firm and loaded with cheese and flavor. Now for what I like to call the "Growth Opportunity" I like most tech people these days have become to rely on being connected. The guest wifi was poor at best. During my visit I heard two other guest having problems connecting with the wifi as well. Having poor or slow wifi is more frustrating than not having it at all. We were visiting Glen Rose and decided to give Riverhouse Grill a try for dinner. This place was awesome! From the jalapeño margarita, to the truffle fries and bread with garlic oil. Everything here tasted fabulous and fresh! I opted for the voodoo pasta and it was a very large portion and delicious! I could have easily shared that with 2 other people. Service was poor, food was less than average. Waitstaff picked up saucer off dirty table and gave to us... sat outside amongst the flies. Clean tables might have kept down the flies. We waited a while before what looked like the cook came by and took our drink & food order. We both ordered Cesar Salad with chicken... not impressed. Once food was delivered, we never saw another employee. Finally left cash on table & left. Needless to say we will not be back. read more

The Riverhouse is a great little town center restaurant, complete with small-town hospitality, excellent food and charming decor. We came in for lunch and sat on the front porch for a delightful meal, complete with adult entrees, kids menu choices and a few appetizers, including the FRIED PICKLES, which were delightful. The whole staff was going to be taking a week off, which was starting the next day, but they were very engaged, eager to please and happy to talk about what a great place to work the Riverhouse is. Much more 'in the moment' than I would be the day before a weeklong vacation! We'll be back for another great meal and comfortable conversation. Hope you enjoyed your week off! read more

Food was good but service was great. The hospitality of the small town of Glenn Rose (pop 3000) was shown through by the staff at Riverhouse. We had the brunch menu Sunday morning and found it to be pretty good. I don't think the original chef was there that day IMO. I had the chicken and waffles and my wife had the pork dish. Her pork dish kicked my chicken and waffle's butt. It was crispy, flavorful, moist, and delicious. Will definitely come back. read more

The food, service and atmosphere were amazing! The rolls were warm, soft and fresh. The spinach dip was okay. The tomato basil soup... one of the best we've ever had. My husband enjoyed the daily special of panko crusted chicken with creamy pesto sauce. The sauce was more of a phenomenal gravy. I had the salmon with butter sauce and added the lump crab. I've never had a better piece of salmon! The sauce was exquisite! Portions are pretty large so come hungry. We enjoyed the Crème brûlée as well. I do not know how this place has 4.5 stars. I ordered the grilled chicken club. The chicken was gray colored, without seasoning and tough. Also had a weird, awlful taste. The fries were soggy and limp. I also ordered coffee with cream. No cream. Never had any. read more

This restaurant was recommended to us by "Grandpa" that owns Lost in Time down the street. From the moment we walked in, we had an amazing experience. Kelli, the manager, asked us to wait in the "bar area" where there was wine and beer. She said it would be worth the 20-30 min wait. And it was! Went here after our visit to Dinosaur World. Only 10 or so minutes apart. House was so nice!!! Decorated beautifully! Loved the outdoor seating (porch) also! We had to park in grass/mud and it had rained, so walked through lots of mud. Wish there was more grass or cement to park on side of house. Could have walked around to the front! Lady that seated us was so nice! My husband got the chicken Marsala, which was really good! I got the Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese Au Gratin w/ bacon crumbles & jalapenos. Yum! We finished with 4 Layer Chocolate Cake, which was delish! We can't wait to come back and try their pork chops, since I noticed almost every else in restaurant had pork chops! Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and 5-year-old daughter. Super cute converted historic house within walking distance to the square. Great little place for sandwiches. My husband and I ordered the turkey panini with fries. The sandwiches were good, fries even better--thin and just salty enough. Our daughter ordered a grilled cheese off the kid's menu and she ate some of it, so that says something. The best part of the meal was the hot, fresh dinner rolls they brought out. The waitresses were sweet, the ambiance was casual and relaxed, and the food was good. We would come again if we were in the area. My only complaint was the ridiculous amount of dust on the curtains above our table. Not a deal breaker because falling chunks of dust won't kill anyone, but... maybe hit that with a Swiffer once in a while? read more
