Nice course. Despite all the rain recently , course still plays pretty well. Some soggy areas in fairways ( cart path only) but understandable. Greens, fairways in great shape for early season , a few tee boxes still growing in but overall a great local course at a reasonable price(~$90) that will provide a nice challenge for all levels. We played the Executive Course today. I've only played about a half dozen or so of these short courses, but this was certainly one of the most fun. Accuracy is a bonus with about half the holes, as the 9-hole layout has a good share of "rolling terrain" around half the holes. The course itself is well maintained, but the greens sure do take a beating, and I am left to conclude the art of repairing a ball Mark was long ago abandoned. RiverPines is a good public golf facility located in Johns Creek between Alpharetta and Duluth. I think this facility is one of the better public facilities in metro Atlanta because it has just about everything: an 18-hole championship course, a 9-hole par-3 course, a driving range, a practice chipping green, a practice bunker, a practice putting green, and a large clubhouse with a golf shop and grill. I first played the championship course in 2008 and have returned for subsequent rounds both on the championship course and the par-3 course. In my experience, the courses have always been in OK to good shape and have been fun to play in part because it's easier to post "low" scores here. The championship course at RiverPines is a fairly picturesque course nestled on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. The river never really comes into play, but there are three ponds as well as a couple creeks (one of which is Johns Creek) that run through the course. This is a compact course with tree-lined fairways. The fairways are Bermuda grass and the greens are bentgrass. There are no houses on the course. There are five sets of tees. From the tips, the course measures 6,602 yards with a rating/slope of 71.1/132. We played from the white tees which measures 5,785 yards with a rating/slope of 67.2/119. There is also a "sixth" set of tees called the "river" tees which is a combination of the blue and white tees. Par is 70. I think this course is ideal for all skill levels. Compared to most of the courses I've played in metro Atlanta, based on slope, it's one of the easier ones. Next to the tee boxes on holes 1 and 18, there are displays with live video feeds of the tee shot landing areas so you'll know when you're clear to hit. For a Georgia course, this one feels relatively flat. Don't get me wrong though; there are still hills like on No. 10 which plays downhill from tee to green. As far as course conditions, in my experience, they've been decent though not great nor pristine and certainly not bad. Pace of play is good (4:10 for 18). At the time of writing this review, the stated rate for 18 holes with cart on weekends and holidays is $61 per person. However, RiverPines also utilizes dynamic pricing, which means pricing can change based on tee time demand, availability, and other factors. We paid $63.50 per person for our last 18-hole round, booked directly through RiverPines' website. The price included a small bucket of range balls. My one knock against RiverPines is I think they're a little overpriced for the quality of course you get. There are definitely better quality golf experiences to be had in metro Atlanta for around $65 or less. The par-3 course is fun. It's $15 for 9 holes and it's first-come, first-served (no tee times). It's a short links-style course that measures 951 yards from the blue tees and 704 yards from the white tees. From the blues, the longest hole, No. 2, is 141 yards, and the shortest hole, No. 6, is 82 yards. It's a great course for beginners, but also enjoyable for regular or skilled players. The par-3 course has a pond, which comes into play on multiple holes, and a creek as well. I admit the layout of the par-3 course is a bit boring with not much design variety between holes. You can see almost all of the holes from just about anywhere on the course. When we played the par-3 course, the course conditions were about the same as the championship course, which was good. We also saw our fair share of wildlife (turtles, deer, ducks). The layout of holes 5 through 8 on the par-3 course can get confusing. Fortunately, there's a map on the 5th tee that shows you which tee boxes hit to which greens. No. 9, the finishing hole, is a 96/81-yard (blue/white) uphill par 3. They save the uphill hole for last. Note: The par-3 course is walking only. If you don't have one, you can rent pull-push carts in the golf shop. I recommend it. The driving range is big. I guesstimate there are about 35 tee stations. You hit off grass as opposed to mats. There is another section of the driving range which I think is reserved for golf instruction and clinics. A small bucket of 45 balls costs $7, a medium bucket of 85 balls costs $10, and a large bucket of 125 balls costs $13. The balls are standard quality and run of the mill. The golf carts are electric Club Car carts with GPS. However, during our last round, yardages weren't showing up on either of our two carts' GPS units, so it sort of rendered the GPS useless, though they were helpful in telling us pin positions. They have cart attendants who will help unload, load, and clean your clubs. Remember to tip. One thing I wish this place has is a compressed air gun to clean your golf spikes. Those golf shoe brushes just never do a thorough job, especially when the course has been wet. All the staff I've encountered have been friendly and courteous. In addition to indoor seating, the grill has a patio which faces the driving range and 9th green. read more

Like it has been for over a year now, you can't hit off of the grass at River Pines Driving Range. Every time I ask why I hear a different excuse. My guess is the new ownership is too cheap to keep the grass up. Today, I along with 4 other people in the pro shop were told at 6:12 PM that the range is closed. We argued that the web site says they are open until 8:00 PM. The Manger then got upset and said "we have forever closed at 6:00". I said it doesn't matter what you say because it says 8:00 on your web site. Told him that his web site is his best advertisement tool and if it is wrong that's on him. He then offers us a $10 coupon to hit balls another day. Everyone refused. Best to vote with your feet here. Sub par facilities, course, management and customer service. Life's too short to patronize places like this. read more

Congratulations to ranger Bob and riverpines for totally ruining my granddaughters first round of golf on a regulation course. As I explained to her rules of the game, pace of play and how to manage the golf cart on and off the fairway ranger Bob approached us on the fourth hole and said she could not drive the cart. Keep in mind it was June 23rd 2022, Thursday afternoon in 95 degree heat. Needless to say the course was not packed like usual. My Grandaughter is a teenager,taller than her mother with the height and weight of a high school senior. I felt like Ranger Bob could have made better use of his time by perhaps managing the pace of play. The threesome in front of us was clearly two holes or more behind the group in front of them. Instead he continued to stalk us from afar as we completed our round. So good job riverpines for creating a memory. Maybe she will focus on tennis. read more

I've played the par 3 course numerous times and enjoy it every single time. It's nice and easy for any level golfer to land some solid shots. The walking distance and scenery are awesome and it's always a good time. It's well worth the $15 you pay. The championship course is nice as well. There were no real negatives, but I wasn't really wowed by anything really. The course was in good condition and had a fun layout to play and drive through. The championship course just felt like an upgraded longer version of the par 3. I feel like it is missing more of those huge par 5s with dog legs and ravines that you see in other courses in the area. The course just acquired the upgraded club car golf carts with the GPS screens and interactive maps, but when we went the Bluetooth and some other features weren't functioning yet. Range balls are free upon arrival, which is a huge plus. The food is nothing to write home about but the service is great and prices are understandable. My gripe is RiverPines is that I believe the tee time prices are a bit too high. Even with a hot deal on GolfNow, you'll still be hitting $50 a person. While I think the course is probably worth around $40-$50, if I'm paying $70 normally I'd probably have a slight bit of buyers remorse after my round. read more

Great course, I am new to the area and have tried several courses inside the perimeter and also outside and I find this to be great for 2 main reasons. 1. The condition of the course including the tee boxes is great, I played the Is morning and. A lot if rain during the week and still dry. The greens are very good, flat, smooth good speed and roll no complaints. 2. Pace of play, the clock system they have works well, you can keep an eye on you own time and the marshalls actually tell you you're on time or pick it up, there are 3 or 4 clocks located around the course to keep you in check. Overall I would recommend and have returned 4 weeks in a row and I'll be back agin for sure, read more

Riverpines is a nice place to come practice some golf. I've visited on numerous occasions and always find the place to have what I need. You can borrow clubs, which is a major plus for less avid golfers. The pricing is reasonable here and if it happens to rain (yay Georgia weather!) they offer a rain check that you can redeem another day. Plenty of parking and usually at least one bay open for you to practice at. Never played a round here, but imagine it to be nice as the course is in an affluent area. read more

A very nice golf course for my first time back in nearly 10 years. We bought a groupon for this course which included 2 practice bags, a golf cart and 18 holes on their championship course for 2. We were able to book a tee time quite easily and were also able to get paired up with a nice young set of ladies who teed up with us. The carts were quite nice, as they provided us with electronic scoring, however there were a few glitches where it wiped our scores out and forced us to re-enter it in. The course was nicely laid out and had some nice scenery around (some exotic birds and deer roamed the course). Luckily, we were able to finish our 18 holes before it got too dark out. read more

The guy below me giving the one star review obviously doesn't understand the importance of "pace of play." This course is one of the few nice public courses in the immediate area, as it is surrounded by country clubs. That being said, you have a lot of folks playing, and standard pace of play is encouraged here. I have probably played 10-12 rounds here and never been told to hurry up, or followed by a Marshall. I've see them get on to folks who are slowing everyone else down, so maybe he was one of those guys. Anyway, great practice facility with a large putting green and chipping green with sand. They also have a great little Par 3 course on the property that is $10 to walk. They offer a ton of leagues throughout the year for all ages, too. Definitely join their mailing list as they will send out a decent amount of coupons. Only knock on this course is that there a few holes that don't make sense, and are challenging in all the wrong ways. read more

Terrible treatment of customers. It was my first time playing golf. My girlfriend brought me ( she 5years prior ranked 3rd in Arkansas for women's golf). She told me I will play her ball not to hold anyone up and could just pickup my ball where I was when the rest of the group finished to keep time. I made the mistake of mentioning to an employee that it was my first time (their change of facial expression told me all I needed that fir some reason that was a sin here). With this in mind I made it a point to mostly watch and not hold anyone up. Apparently though this place got behind on their t-times and I MUST be the culprit right. They made it a point to come out to our group in a cart and lecture my girlfriend and I about me causing some problem for them. I want a refund I will not be returning to this establishment. I may have hit a total of 5 times in an 18 hole game and somehow I was a problem though paying them $65 dollar to play. Don't go here unless you grew up with a golf club in diapers and with a silver spoon shoved in your mouth or you won't be welcomed. read more

Riverpines is mediocre. The course is ok but I usually soaked. With the hooch closing Riverpines is always crowded. The par three course greens and tee boxes are in bad shape but it's pretty good for the traffic it gets. The course is in immaculate shape right now. It rained the all day the day before I played, and it was pretty soggy. The greens, fairways, and tee boxes are in great shape. The two negatives I have on the course are that the bunkers aren't in great shape. They need a complete overhaul, and the pace of play was pretty slow for a Friday morning. (The slow pace of play could have a little to do with it being cart path only too) all the employees were super nice and eager to help. Each round comes with a small bucket of range balls. I have been to many golf courses in my life and this one is by far the worst one. I have never been told on a Monday that I am too slow, they weren't even busy. On top of that you are only allowed a 5min eating period between hole 9 and 10, seriously? We were also followed around the whole course by the course Marshall which only hindered the speed at which we played. Definitely will not be returning to this course ever. No wonder they are on groupon. I DO NOT recommend this location. read more

Really nice course, but the best thing about RiverPines is the people who work there. The PGA professionals, snack bar staff, cart guys and course marshals all go out of their way to be helpful and make everyone feel welcomed and appreciated. Just played there my first time today. I was very impressed by the quality of the staff. From the team who actually came out to my car and my partner's car to pick up our bags to the Marshall, to the staff behind the counter, all were helpful and professional. The course was in decent, not great, shape. Considering that we're talking February 19th, a week after a major snow storm in Atlanta, I thought it was in good shape considering. The course has good signage and good fairways. Hopefully spring will bring a little help to the tees and greens. But I'll be back there soon. It's my new favorite course. read more
