We came last weekend (drove 3 1/2 hours one way) and we had such a great time, we wished it was longer! Our guide was Chris and we ended up on the raft with his family and they were all awesome. We loved every minute of our experience I was having trouble online and had messaged them on instagram and got instant response (even though it was later in the evening) from Spencer and his wife and by the next morning we were on a call and booked and ready to go. 10/10 experience all around! It was worth the drive. We also did olive oil tasting at the ranch they're located on since we got there a bit early. (would have done the wine tasting if we weren't rafting after lol) read more

We came with two adults and two kids. River was a nice mix of rapids and calm sections. Justin was our group leader. He was very energetic, and a good mix of safety and fun. Our boat guide was Charlotte who was an expert at steering us so that we never hit any of the brush along the riverbank. There was a fun game using the paddles, and impromptu slip and slide session and the chance to swim in gentle rapids if you wanted to. The guides really had a fun mentality that showed from the shuttle bus ride to the river and the shuttle bus ride home. Highly recommend. read more

Our rafters made a water slide out of the rafts at one point and we all got to slide down Joseph was the most amazing tour guide!! I love it it is the best definitely recommend it is not like other river rafting they let u swim in the river slay

The manager is a nut job. He ruined our trip after a three hour drive because he decided I needed the life jacket to be tight to the point the discomfort made it unbearable! Even though I had it on, he continued to approach me and even put his hands on me to tighten the jacket to an unbearable degree. I have never experienced such a difficult person with a life jacket and I do a lot of activities that require them for liability reasons. I get that and I'm aware it's a safety concern, but it was on and snug, he just wanted to have the last word and ruin everyone's day! Do not spend your money if you want to have an enjoyable time. He has some sort of super hero complex and ruined our day. He was trying to say to my kids they could go on but not me! The nerve. I've worn a life jacket before at this business a year ago had a safe time and wore one for parasailing and paddle boarding many, many times and no one had ever demanded it be on so unbearably tight I was forced to losen it a tiny bit to be okay and he stared counting down my chances I used up as if I'm a kindergartner about to be put on time out! Ridiculous behavior from a "recreational" outfit. It is a shame the owner didn't correct his employee. It was not a safety issue. He was having a power trip at my family's expense! I was wearing it correctly and he needs to learn to treat adults like they understand their own bodies. It was not something he was addressing with anyone else who also did the same! When an adult says it's too tight maybe it is! Maybe you should listen since this is supposed to be for recreation. You can stand to learn to listen to an adult so uncomfortable that they can't breathe in the heat of Bakersfield with no AC in your tented space or bus! I am a teacher and I don't assert myself over kid's bodies as if they don't know what's intolerable! If anyone says anything is too uncomfortable you can't force them to submit to your ridiculous demands. Never mind I'm competitive swimmer and swim instructor but nothing trumps his managerial authority I guess. Ladies and parents save yourself the grief if you want to be in a relaxed, fun environment. This guy tries to pass his need for authority over everyone as "safety". It's interesting that of all the men who did the exact same thing, he only threw his weight around with the smallest woman he could find! I guess my sin was speaking up and saying it's too tight. The owner needs to address him rather than defend his ridiculousness by saying on here it's safety over convenience. I was safe you just picked a really annoying and difficult man to ruin everyone's fun. Waste peoples day, spend gas money, drive hours just to be treated like a child and put under tremendous strain as a family now having to decide if the kids should go on alone without their mother who has been prohibited from participating at the last minute instead of welcomed by professional and polite adults who understand when a customer is in fact trying to comply with safety issues but also be able to enjoy themselves in your jackets. It is possible! If you can find another rafting operation try them. This guy needs to learns to treat people better.u read more

My family and I have done three or four white water rafting adventures on the Kern river and every time we have went, we have started from the upper Kern. We did this one on the lower Kern and it was like a 10 minute drive from our house and we only drove like 10 minutes in the bus and I must say it was the best experience we've ever had rafting. The guide was knowledgeable, humorous and personable. The actual rafting was adventurous, but not as challenging as the upper Kern, but that's OK. We got to get out of the raft and experienced the river in a way we've never had a chance to before our guide was knowledgeable, humorous, and fun to hang out with I encourage anyone who has a chance to use Rivers End Rafting. It was the best experience and we will definitely be back. read more

Highly recommend River's End! Their staff is highly trained, knowledgeable and do a great job at explaining everything, including plant and wildlife identification. On this particular trip, we witnessed two turkey vultures feasting on a deer. We also saw other local wildlife like geese and a variety of birds. I love all the safety checks the staff does throughout the trip, and the ways they incorporate fun into the trips with games and jokes. The river itself is perfect for a hot day and it includes a life jacket. The best part? You can get what's called a "Splash Pass" for you to return, at a discounted price, and it never expires. You only have the opportunity to purchase it that same day after your trip; you cannot go on another day. They also have a great photographer that takes action shots of you and your group, and it's available for purchase after your trip. Highly recommend! read more
