on a men's golf outing, a friend hit a hole in one on 14. Apparently the casino /golf shop doesn't do anything as far as comps for such a feat. no $5 slot pull, no 10% off a buffet. Not sure if the casino was not doing well, but I would think bringing in 7 other guys for a buffet or to gamble would be worth the risk of $5. the odds of a whole in one-12,500 to 1. pretty good house odds. It's not about the money for me, it's about the recognition of the odds and a casino commending it. Again, it was for a friend, not me.just found that odd and it happened over 7 years ago. Very fast Black Jack dealer will deal the cards before before you can finish making your bet. My chip in hand was inches away from placing a side bet on 7's when the dealer very quickly tossed out the cards (I don't blame her, just doing what she's told). Then dealt me 3 7's. I understand the risks of gambling, but when I tried to discuss this rationaly with the pit boss - I am wrong and an ass hole. I explained that "maybe I'm wrong about this" (even though I am not) why not check it out on the the damned cameras they have on every person and every move - no chance. Believe me if they feel you were counting cards (which can never be proven) the assholes will be all over you. Fuck that place and those crooks. Everyone at the table witnessed it. The poor dealer knew it and appeared quite sorry. I didn't want to get here in trouble. But it's bullshit when you try to do the right things and follow their unpublished rules. t They should give customers more respect than that. Never going back read more

The buffet in the hotel, Robert's Buffet was probably the worst food I have ever had. $85 for two people for a buffet? Seriously? Maybe if the food was actually edible. In fact, not only did it taste terrible, it was not even warm, let alone hot. I would rather eat a roller dog that had sat on the roller for 12 hours in a gas station than to eat here again. You would think that when you pay $330 a night for a hotel room, the restaurants would be at least fair. I don't think I could rate the food as poor as it wasn't even close to that low rating. We drove from Chicago for Leann Rimes concert and spent half the day playing slot machines including my favorite "Wonder Woman." The casino is beautiful and staff were friendly. Soft drinks, bottled water, and coffee are free so you can self-serve. Parking is free and plentiful. Unfortunately, the resort's hotel was booked full so I had to book a hotel in Moline, IL. We enjoyed dinner at Robert's Buffett which is a great value. I will definitely return for more concerts in the future! read more

Needed a new players card, it took almost 20 min to get one! ‍ I got stuck behind a guy that couldn't find enough for ID to get his replaced and only one lady working the counter....as people started to line up behind me. That should have been handled differently. She should have let him continue to dig and told him, "excuse me, while you keeping looking I will help the next customer". Even after I got her to help me it took her almost 5 mins at the computer to print one ‍ The comp problem here has really gotten bad for us. They won't budge at all. For years we never had a problem and our play has not changed or decreased. When you don't try to meet people at least half way, it's not good. We walk in with that in the back of our mind....we tend to not play as long then, or different. And maybe not stay the night when we were going to or whatever. The idea of ANY casino is to try to keep patrons there as long as they can, better odds for them. It's just poor management here from whomever is making these decisions. Strange situation, we don't have these problems at other casino properties we patronize. So, we do what most would do. The ventilation system needs a major overhaul, there needs to be a way for room staying and event attending guests to walk inside the building without going through the casino and event staff need to post what each event is, and what room it is happening in when, on their screens. Then the little details like clogged sinks and flat/old mattresses and dirty walls and poorly planned design can be looked at. Let me first say - I am writing this from a room on the 4th floor at 3:00 am, as I lay with a pillow under my low back because the mattress feels like a sink hole is under me. When i sit on the edges of the bed to tie my shoes, i sink like there is zero filling in the mattress. I have worked in hotels for many years and I also lived in Las Vegas, so all of these issues could be addressed if management really cared. There is a casino called the Suncoast in Las Vegas that locals call the smokecoast....Riverside is now going to be smokeside casino for us. And not just cigarettes...marijuana smoke is everywhere and it is not currently legal in this state. The first night of our stay the smell of cigarettes in our elevator and room was so strong I asked at the front desk if moving rooms would help and the agent said no, because it is a known issue and there are smoking rooms. Then at 10pm our room filled with marijuana smoke like we were smoking it! The agent at the desk then said that management has been trying to figure out how to correct the ventilation for a long time. Not comforting to hear at a time when air born viruses are hot topics. So - if your company does random drug sampling-stay somewhere else. And if you have an event and also stay in a room, or have a 2nd event in the pool area, guests that are not 21 yrs or older must go outside and walk past the front entrance to get to those areas....and fingers crossed it is good weather. So now - for some positives so I dont sound like a Debbie Downer. All of the staff have been friendly and informative. The food has been amazing in 22 & Vine and for the events (didnt try the others). There is plently of parking and the pool area is really nice as it has landscaping that makes it really pretty. Unfortunately we will not return. I have had a massive headache due to smoke the whole time. read more

We had your surf and turf buffet on 3/16/24. The salad bar was amazing, and my guy said the surf portion was great(I don't eat it ) However, we both agreed that everything else we tried went to waste. It was tasteless.....all of it. We love staying here but had a bad experience that we turned into a "fun" one at Draft Day last night. After sitting there for 20 minutes, the female server walked by several times and never offered a menu, drink, nothing. We were there to watch two ballgames so planned on being there for a while. I finally walked out casino and got free drinks to bring in and then went to gift shop and got a bag of popcorn. We decided that as many times that she walked by we shouldn't have to "flag her down" - so we sat with our snacks and counted how many times she walked by. Not sure what her problem was - we've eaten there several times and have always had great service. Not tonight - going elsewhere. I received a reply that kitchen was closed at the time and IT WAS NOT! This happened on Wednesday night around 6:00 and other people were being served food!!! Just changed review to 2 stars - don't lie!!! And even if kitchen was closed (which it WAS NOT CLOSED), the server didn't even ask to take a drink order! Wow-way to defend your mediocre service with lies. An apology would have been enough. The sports book was not busy at the time - the female food server was "busy" flirting with bar staff. Like I said, we made it a "game" to see if she would wait on us or not because we knew we could eventually eat elsewhere - which we did. read more

We visited Riverside Casino on Christmas Day. The place was packed, but rightly so because the weather was unseasonably warm for Iowa during this time of year. I say the crowd had something to do with the weather, not necessarily the holiday--not sure. My first stop was at the guest services counter (I'm sure they have another name for it) to get a players card. I recommend getting the card even if you don't visit the casino all that much. It does get you a discount at the buffet. I have pretty excellent self control, so when I spent (and lost) my $20, I was done. From the penny slots I went and looked at the Christmas trees that were on display and voted for my favorite. I appreciate the smoke free areas of the casino, but do wish they had a few more penny slots for people like me. We found 6 or so in the smoke-free area, but they were occupied most of the time. After about 1.5 hours our party of eight headed over to Robert's Buffet (see my separate review for Robert's). If you're a hardcore gambler I could see spending all day here. They have all the amenities you could want, thus you'd never have to leave. Ladies restroom just off the casino floor was very clean. I did notice quite a few empty bottles, glasses, and napkins lingering around the slot machines and only one person going around cleaning them up. Messy looking at times, but they were busy. I don't usually visit casinos unless someone else wants to, as in this case. They had a couple of retail shops, a spa, classy restaurant and a deli--none which I checked out, but they're worth mentioning. I am too cheap to gamble. There. I said it. But Riverside Casino & Golf Resort offers so much more than blackjack or slot machines. Don't get me wrong-- it seems to have all the essentials and always has some people on the floor with machines dinging enthusiastically. Go them! I'm more of a Ruthie's Steakhouse kind of girl. Honestly, I have never had a bad steak or glass of wine. Or a Draft Day for the game, wearing my team colors while eyeing an arcade game I want to try with a gourmet hot dog in hand person. Shoot, I'd book a massage at the spa in a second-- I've had some great ones over the years. The buffet, cafe, gift shop and golf course are all worth mentioning as well. They have something for everyone! The hotel (and the entire casino for that matter) has been updated. It is reasonably priced with different suites and offering both smoking and non smoking rooms. The pool though, that is the cherry on top! I am hard pressed to think of another indoor/outdoor pool in the area. (There is a hot tub too!) I totally recommend staying during summer months. It is opened up and you can soak up some rays poolside and not feel like you are at a resort in Iowa. Parking is a non-issue and they offer valet as well. Also, they have great outdoor shows during the summer! I have literally met Kevin Bacon at this casino one random evening. (He was playing the next day!) And last, the employees I have encountered whether it be at valet, hotel, restaurants, security, management-- have always been very helpful and professional. I don't frequent casinos often-- and I definitely don't go to win money-- HOWEVER, this one is much more than that and worth your time, boasting so many additional things you can do! read more

The staff here is so friendly! Our room was excellent and clean. Kind of unique with the glass shower. Relaxed by the pool & had a waitress bring us drinks & food. The casino wasn't packed and they had people continually cleaning the slots & tables. Ruthie's is a higher end restaurant with wonderful steaks. 22& Vine is another excellent restaurant and they give you a lot of food. There was a coffee shop that had pastries, pizza, salads, to go sandwiches that looked great as well. Definitely will be back read more

I came here to see a show--had never been here before--and I had no idea what to expect. But I expected built-in theater seats. No. They were chairs packed so tightly that my S/O and I had to overlap shoulders. I saw one poor gal have to sit on half a seat because the person next to her was taking up half of hers. There is no beer on tap. Bottle only. Cash only. $4 ATM charge. The event door is not marked. There are no signs leading you to the event door. And we found ourselves weaving through slot machines and cigarette haze to get to the event center. I don't plan on ever attending a show here again. read more

Love this golf course!! If you want a short course, keep looking!!! This mother is LONG!!! For example, the $1000 tee boxes measure out to 7432 yards and most of it seems like it's uphill!!! I'd go from the $500, if I'm feeling cocky, or the $100, if I want a manageable length. Course, for getting as much rain as we have had, is in really good shape. Sand is still fluffy and extremely hard to play out of!! Greens and fairways were in great shape as well. As for the people working there...every single staff member that we met were all super courteous and friendly. Can't wait to go back and eat some more humble pie. . WOW! Small Biz owner trying to support local. So after a really long long day at University of Iowa Cancer Center it was dark so decided we might wanna find a hotel for the night. I'm paranoid with deer. It's a Tuesday in IOWA....so I heard great things about Riverside Casino & Golf Resort....stopped in from recommendation from the greatest group of IOWANS in Hills at @218 Bar who suggested we go as the weekly nights you can get room for $75! We celebrate every 3 months with a visit to a new spot. Went to the desk to inquire on the rates. I said "we are passing through (6:45pm on a Tuesday) and what is your best rate for a king room tonight." She says "the best we can do is $199!" Are you freaking kidding me. I can stay at the Gaylord in Nashville for less. There is no one there. You are seriously losing a customer who would possibly bring bus groups to you? Being a Travel Planner I know they have flexibility and room to negotiate. I'm speechless. Seriously speechless. It was a total Pretty Woman mistake "BIG MISTAKE!" So.... We are headed home to support our hotel chains who get customer service and the opportunity to fill a bed on a Tuesday night! Keith asked if I pulled the "travel agent card" and I said I didn't. Went to "The Casino" with a group a few weeks ago and the trip was pretty average. The night started at the buffet where $16.99 gets you an eclectic mix of slightly above average food that spans a good portion of the globe. It's been a long time since we had prime rib, buffalo chicken pizza, chicken satay and spring rolls. Unlike many of the IC buffet establishments, this food was very edible. Beer was $4.25 and required cash on the spot - probably a good plan, but a little odd for a casino. The gaming floor required you go, literally, though a security check point with some rather intense ladies in uniform. They asked me if my ID was really mine... I responded that it was....good story. The smoking section was the far section of the gaming floor and the slot areas. It lead to the entire areas being a little noxious for fumes, but it was tolerable, though our closes smelling like we'd gone back to a bowling alley in the 90's. The floor included a number of craps, roulette, blackjack (5 and 10 min) and poker tables. Nothing overly impressive, but enough to keep you busy. The slots are apparently very popular and it lead me to believe that most people playing either love Greek and Roman ancient royalty references (there were plenty!) or feeling rich when they venture a shiny penny on each pull. Oddest thing here were the bars. A buddy asked for a beer for both of us and the barkeep threw back some serious attitude about how one person could only buy one beer very 20 minutes and thus we could not buy for each other - we went to his neighbor and secured two beers in quick fashion. The final area explored was the back stage where a cover band played the best of the 70's and there were plenty of my mom's would be friends getting down. Glad all were having fun! Overall, a mediocre-good experience were the company makes the evening. Nothing overly impressive, but if you love them slots, you've got plenty to keep you busy. The fact that the IC outskirts has a casino is alone worth 5 stars. But this place feels like I walked into a smaller wing of a Vegas casino! New, nice, easy to park-- Cheap drinks at $3 a pop for most. Free coffee and sodas inside the floor. Good eating options -- ranging from: top notch steak house, buffet, to simple sandwich stop. The best thing is the music they bring in. Lot's of oldies--sometimes free, country (bleh, but you know most Iowa folk), and some decent cover bands. Watch the sport games on their many TVs. And if you don't like to gamble they have a dope golf course... great addition to Eastern Iowa. If I have to play misogynist devils advocate they could do a make over on the cocktail staff... sorry gals but I've seen better in Laughlin, Nevada and Hinkley, Minnesota. I've been to Riverside twice for shows. For being a casino they get some pretty good shows... however I feel they need a bigger event center. The room gets very stuffy and warm and everyone is packed in almost sitting on one another. The chairs are also not comfortable at all and the drinks are outrageously priced (granted that's at every concert). Casino wise, I am not really into gambling. My husband likes to try his luck, however every time we have gone he has lost money... apparently he doesn't have the luck! I also feel the casino is very clean and does not smell smoky like some. What can I say about Robert's Buffet? I've been eating here since the casino opened in 2006. Lately the food has been very good! They improved their pizza recipe. Tonight the 2 pizzas sat too long so I asked the chef to kindly make a pepperoni pizza and he did. It was so gooey good. Brisket, prime rib, fried chicken and Chinese tonight. Great salad bar. Soup is good too. Includes your drink. Desserts are excellent. $19.99 price not bad. If you are a Resort Club member you will receive $3.00 off coupons in the mail monthly. Fun place to stay for a weekend. Golf course is always in great shape and a top tier course in the state. Casino staff very friendly. We prefer table games and they had plenty of tables open and a nice variety of games aside from your standard blackjack. We have 3 casinos within 15 minutes of our house but would rather make the hour+ drive to spend our money at Riverside! read more

My review is for the hotel only. I did not use any of the other amenities because of the looming wall of smoke that greets you at the door. We attended a function at the conference center but had to walk through the lobby and casino to get there. By the time we arrived at our dinner, I felt like I smalled like a giant cigarette. The hotel room itself was nicely appointed and clean. My biggest suggestion would be a sheer curtain over the window along with the heavy electronic drape. You have two choices ~~ utter darkness or glaring light from the parking lights. We found the electronic shower curtain a little comical and laughable, but we did love the huge tile shower. The reception staff was lukewarm in their greeting and enthusiasm. We may return to play the golf course because it is supposed to be one of the most challenging in all of Iowa, but I don't see us running back for any other reason. read more

Riverside Casino and Golf Resort offers a one-stop destination for entertainment, literally, in the middle of nowhere. But don't let that dissuade you from visiting. The casino is about 60% smoking but ot never feels smoky. Lots of slots, both new and classic, fill the perimiter of the casino with table games toward the center and a bar in the middle. Various restaurants offer something for every taste and pocketbook, from snacks and buffet to full service. Hotel rooms are confortable and nice, if a little on the pricey side without a deal. Staff is friendly and helpful. I've seen negative casino reviews based on a commenters' wins or losses but that shouldn't matter. Sometimes you win sometimes you don't. read more

Security Supervisor Eric and Manager Patty should not be employed as security managers. They have no clue on how to immediately protect their players. As a high roller, I expect to feel safe and protected. On Friday night, I was threatened and verbally offended by two females demanding a machine that I was playing after they had been watching me for over an hour. Two different players witnessed the incident, and the managers did not escort them out or ban them. This type of behavior must be acceptable it's the message I got. It seems these managers were waiting to see blood to react. I am very disappointed to have felt threatened and no longer feel safe. It's time to take my business somewhere where high rollers are better protected. Sorry RS, you lost me as a customer due to your managers choosing to allow people who spend pennies to walk around threatening and disrupting the casino instead of protecting a high roller who spends thousands during my visits. We stayed here for the 3 doors down concert and had a wonderful stay. The pool was amazing the water was held at a perfect temperature and and the chemical didn't burn your eyes like most indoor pools. The room was awesome with a nice view. However we shared a room and the room we got had a bathroom with a glass wall so you can see right in the shower and bathroom. It would be a nice thing if you were with just your other half but with others in the room not as much. Then bed were very comfortable and rooms were very clean. When we mad it to the casino floor there is some construction going on but still a decent sized floor. We watched Shock Treatment if you haven't seen them you need to make time to find the band! The bar tenders didn't waste time getting you your drinks either. We ate at the buffet for dinner and breakfast during our stay and enjoyed it. There was a bunch to pick from and the food was decent. Over all we will return and can't wait to see what line up of concerts that have come so we can go back! read more

First, I will say that I liked how spacious the rooms are, and some of them have a really nice view over the golf course. Great use of glass to enhance the lightness of the accommodations (and beautiful shower, although the water was often not that warm or that plentiful). However, the discrepancy between the accessible rooms and the regular rooms is astounding. No effort has been put into making the accessible rooms feel pleasant in any way. The staff even acknowledges this. In comparison with the other rooms, the accessible rooms are shabby, dirty, broken down and dark. This is totally unacceptable and discriminatory. None of the rooms has adequate soundproofing, which meant that for the duration of my stay I was kept up most or all of the night by people in the hall and slamming doors. So while the room I had was nice enough, and certainly big, I was not able to enjoy my stay here and won't be coming back. read more

After hearing great things about lunch buffet at Robert's Buffet @ Riverside Casino this past Monday I decided to go and check it out myself. They are extremely misleading about the price, it literally posted everywhere that the lunch Buffett is $13.99, but I was charged nearly $26.00 - I don't understand how they would feel this is a good marketing strategy or would attract people to come back on a regular basis and I could only imagine what they actually charge for their dinner buffet when it's post at $18-$21 - the price they charge you must be outrageous. I can only suggest to other patrons that if you decide to visit the casino, avoid Robert's Buffet and being severely overcharged as the meals are not actually priced as advertised! read more
