On 11/18/2024 I was taken to the ER by ambulance for breathing problems that had been going on for 4 days at that point. I have an extensive cardiac history amongst other health issues: Coronary artery disease Congestive heart failure Unstable angina Vasculitus Anemia Hypothyroidism History of myocardial infraction Peripheral arterial disease Hyperglycemia Hyperlipidemia Atherosclerosis of Arota Left cariod artery stenosis Kidney disease stage 3b Anxiety Depression Asthma Gastric ulcer Diverticulitis disease of colon While in the ambulance they put me on oxygen which helped alot. When I got to the ER I asked several time to have some oxygen and I was told no several times because my oxygen level were fine. Didn't matter to them that it help me regardless of the reading. They did a CT scan and an xray and saw nothing. The ER Dr suggested I be admitted for observation because the reason for the breathing wasn't presenting itself easily. The hospitalist, Dr.Dumbass, aka Dr. Nardow ( If thats how you spell it ) decided to say it's an anxiety/panic attack. Ordered a breathing treatment and Ativan ( thru my IV ) . For those that don't know, Ativan makes you tired, so of course it's going to help calm things. Who on earth has an anxiety/panic attack that lasts 4 days. I was sent home with no referral to a cardiologist or pulmonologest. This morning I woke up again having problems breathing. I called the er 3 times today for the name of the hospitalist who sent me home and all 3 times no one would help. I was told to call hospital records. Tonight I got an email letting me know that I have new test results on the patient portal. My B-type Natriuretic peptide was 150 which according to the site, is high. I was not told that at all. Dr. Dumbass chose to ignore telling me about it because it has been high in previous tests. Wouldn't consistently high results mean something? Dr. Nardow should be fired. I am never going to this hospital again and I will be filing a formal complaint and contacting a lawyer.

The waiting area is large and comfortable. the last time I went, we drove up to a platoon of First Atlantic Restoration vans. We learned that there had been a bad water leak. All outpatients were being sent to the nearby Brock Cancer Center. Lab & Check in personnel from Leigh had also been moved over to the detour location. When we drove up yesterday the front doors were blocked. There was a large sign pointed south that read entrance. We drove around the building and found no entrance. On the way back a person was walking down the sidewalk. She pointed us to the one door that could be entered. It was obstructed from easy view by the large entrance detour sign. Walking in I found so much completely different. One was first sent through security, which had never been in the lobby of Leigh. My purse was searched before I went through a scanner. The front area, which was previously a nice large entrance and desk, was now covered in plywood. The employees have always been nice and friendly. I was called back into the lab just as I finished registration. My regular bloodwork was done quickly and I prepared to leave. Sitting down in the main lobby I texted my ride that I was done. Of course I took a few pictures. When I picked up my purse I glanced at my arm. Blood was pouring out from the bandaid that covered what is normally just a needle prick. It was all over my arm, hand and shirt. Stunned, I finally moved when the really nice Security guy told me I'd better go back to the lab, Returning to the checkin area I asked if they could buzz me back in. They also stood there stunned before one asked if I had just had lab work done. When I affirmed they finally took action. The same person who drew my blood cleaned me up & used a big wrap around bandage on my arm. She said she had thought it would be fine. I really expected more of an apology. Thinking back I did remember that she had the drawer open a little longer than usual deciding what to use. Did she use the wrong size needle? Now I'm a little worried about the level of staff experience, which I've always counted on before. Even though the bandage was tight I was afraid to take it off until last night. I'm a regular at bloodwork and IV's. I have absolutely no problem with needles or having blood drawn. But today the inside of my arm looks like someone slit it with a knife. There's at least a one inch line where there should be an almost imperceptible prick or some bruising. I'm really debating as to whether I should change my preference for lab work.

This revue is strictly for their outpatient lab. This is clearly the best place for lab work and…read moretesting. The staff is quick, caring and efficient from check in to technicians. The facility is always clean and nicely decorated. I highly recommend them.

The operator Ms Taylor is very consistent. She would accurately transfer u to the appropriate staff/section. Acute Clinician Ms Wilkins was also very helpful. Although, she does attend to many patients .. she still found time to call us back. All of these Poplar staff members are outstanding .. they need to be promoted.. for I think they posses the values this hospital lacks and should be striving for.

I am elderly and was put on a unit of 20 something girls. I felt my life was in danger. I was moved to a more age appropriate coed unit but day 2 a male was put there who would sit as close to me as he could and stare at me and follow me around. I went to the 1 open bathroom with only a shower curtain for a door. The man pulled the curtain back and stood there grinning and looking at me. I ran out and told staff, nurses, clinician, psychiatrist and patient advocate. Nothing was done. I was told he didnt know what he was doin. He tried to sit next to me again and was almost attacked by other male patients for what he did to me. He was finally moved. But then he was brought back. I was told he was better by head nurse. She yelled at me and threatened to move me.That night he came in my room while I was in bed, grinning at me again. I screamed and chased him out. Again I notified all previous parties. Again male patients threatened to beat him up and he was moved. I still suffer ptsd and trauma from this. Found out the Tech was asleep in another room. I could write a book on how other patients were treated inhumanity, yelled at, ignored their personal hygiene and allowed to wear diapers filled with urine and feces for days. One lady had severe hands and arms shaking so badly she could not eat or drink on her own. They yelled at her to feed herself. I met with my psychiatrist for 5 minutes a day in the open with other patients standing close enough to hear our conversation. HIPPA violation. Medical drs came only on sat and sun, and the same occurred. As well as clinicians who I only saw 3 times in 12 days. It took me 4 days to get my personal items accounted for and a receipt, for which I asked for daily. Having no clean clothes to wear I would have to sleep in paper garments and have my 1 set of clothes washed nightly. The one communal bathroom stayed nasty daily and my stalker managed to stop it up twice with toilet paper, so no bathroom till maintenance unclogged. Group therapy was a joke. There was no organized group therapy. Days were spent in 62 degree temps in dayroom on hard plastic chairs watching TV as rooms were locked 7am to 9pm. Most slept on the floor during the day. Understaffing was blamed on why we could not go outside for fresh air and other things. Most there learn to work the system to get out as there was never any real treatment for anyone. It's sad to see people treated so abysmally as if they weren't even human beings. I'm saddened this place is allowed to operate as a mental health facility. The system is truly broken. I also witnessed a new patient tell the Tech he hadn't had his meds in 3 days and he would have a seizure. She told him to sit in the hall and wait. Not 2 minutes later he went in a full hard seizure on the floor and was left there to lay for another hour. I'm heartbroken. While I had to deal with my own trauma there, I had to suffer more trauma as I watched these poor souls being treated as trash under the staffs purview. How they sleep at night is beyond me. And get this... you to can come back in 6 months after discharge and become one of this evil facilities staff. My review rating is a minus 100. God bless the poor souls that have had to endure this hell. I'm tired of typing or I could litterly write a book on how humanity and this place has damaged so many.
