Dr Lai was perceptive to postpone the portion of my exam requiring dilation to better insure my safe ride home by noting my bicycle helmet and potential safety risk of pedaling with dilated vision. So back in a couple weeks to finish that part of the exam while hopefully, concurrently picking up my new eyeglasses that the optical department was excellent on helping me refine the large number of variables to customize the stylish eyeglasses. My eye care office of 20 years prior to this one had me spoiled with regards to not having extra charges like Riverside eye specialist does - a fee to use credit card and more billing if I bring glasses for warranty work or adjustment. Arriving way before my appointment did not keep a long wait from happening well past my appointment time. The twiddling of thumbs was ameliorated by the terrific multi-faceted intersection of geometry, celestial windows and sight lines of the modern architecture that the office is in. The black and white featured photography further added to distraction from waiting in funky furniture that is nOt complimentary to the noted delights while having further wait time to get the key to the bathroom. read more

If I could leave 1 star I would. The staff in this place were very rude and lack the customer service that is needed to be involved with customers on a consistent basis. They then tried to turn the issue on my aunt, which was not the case. If the manager would have listened to understand and not listened to respond we wouldn't have ended our 28 year relationship with this location. I live in Florida but come for extended visits to our son in Riverside. We have a doctor here and when I needed cataract surgery our local doctor recommended Dr Glendrange. I couldn't be more pleased with my decision to make the appointment for surgery. Every single employee at this office, from front desk check in, to exit check out has been extremely friendly, upbeat and professional during every appointment. When I had a problem getting a refund from the surgery center (a separate business), Elizabeth from this office resolved this issue within one day! I also want to give recognition to Becky for always making me feel like a valued, appreciated patient. I'm shocked to see any negative comments here about any staff member at this office because even the ones I don't have any interaction with always smile and say hi and/or goodbye. Couldn't even schedule an appointment with a referral. Called four times with my referral information in front of me, never could get past "we can't find the referral have your doctor fax it to us." My doctor faxed them the referral three times. They made zero effort to even try to correct the issue. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. read more

Took my cousin for an eye appointment, he had a 1:30 appointment, we got there 30 minutes as he was a new patient. It took them 3 hours!!!!! Other patients with later appointments came and went. I went to this location to make an appointment with a referral from my primary. I only needed a check up and to renew my contact RX. The front desk girl was very rude letting me know repeatedly my insurance only covers the check up. I assured her I was aware of that and I would cover any costs needed. Two days before my appointment I received a voicemail confirming my appointment and once again I was not covered for contacts and should go to Target or Walmart. I decided I was not going to give my hard earned money to this business. I was a no show and will be letting friends and neighbors know this is not the place to go. I give it a 1 star based off of dealing with the secretary at the front desk. I saw 2 different eye doctors on 2 separate occasions and both of the doctors as well as their assistance were awesome. I am a Veteran and the Veteran Affairs "Choiced" me out (sent me out in town because the VA was to full). Anyway, I had an authorization from TriWest (which I still have the document) to go see an ophthalmologist. Got scheduled and went to appointment. Dr wanted to see me back in 2 weeks for a follow up. Well my appointment was on a Monday and 3 days before, on Friday, I get a call from the secretary at the front desk telling me I needed "another" authorization. (Like seriously, you are calling me on a Friday afternoon and my appointment is on Monday). Anyone who has ever dealt with the VA (especially the Choice Program through the VA) knows how asinine and retarded they are. However, this time it wasn't the VA's fault. My authorization letter I had was very specific. It was for 1 intake appointment and 4 followup appointments. The fact that this place didn't know what the heck they are talking about isn't the only issue. The fact that they wanted to wait until a Friday afternoon to Call and tell me I needed to try and jump through all these hoops to try and coordinate with multiple different government agencies to get a piece of paper; well I would have better luck in pulling a diamond out of a rabbits butt. The nuisance was when I explained to the secretary that it was not only unprofessional to contact me this late in the day before the weekend when my appointment is on that upcoming Monday, but that I DID NOT need another authorization letter from the VA. Well all I got was, "sorry, someone forgot to check the authorization letters this week so we are doing it now." & "we are going to need an new authorization letter regardless of what you are saying about the other authorization letter still being valid." I deal with enough drama and nonsense from the Veterans Affairs. I used to like and prefer being authorized to go out in town, for treatment for my injuries related to combat, because these companies didn't come with the amount of B.S. that the Vet Affairs spews out on a daily basis. While it may sound silly, this company caused nothing but an unnecessary amount of stress and strife. There is a level of ignorance in secretaries / companies these days that seemingly think that whatever they say is doctrine, & just dismiss whatever the patient/client is expressing. Again. The doctors I saw here were awesome, as was their staff that helped with the eye tests. I would happily and easily give 5 stars for Dr treatment. But I wasn't able to go to my Much Needed Eye Appointment (for a very serious eye issue) because of the secretary. Instead I was thrown back into the Death Trap system known as the Veterans Affairs, where I can wait 3 months to be seen for an eye issue I had already waiting months to get authorized and be seen. read more

Dr. Ha is fabulous. I have been a patient of hers for years. The rest of the staff though is rude and not helpful. Also, DO NOT buy your glasses from the attached optical center. The gentleman who used to work there was amazing and thorough. Sylvia (I believe that is her name) was working when I went in. She made absolutely no effort to assist me with my purchases. She only scribbled down prices and slid the piece of paper across to the table to me and left me to try to decipher it on my own. I told her that I could not remember ever paying that much. She was so rude and ineffective that I left. I did call later to inquire whether the prices she gave me included my insurance. Sylvia said, "No. I assumed you didn't have insurance because you didn't tell me you did." Had she taken 5 seconds to actually be a salesperson, she would have stumbled across that fact very easily. I have purchased many frames from this business in the past, but I will not be back. They lost a loyal customer. (On another note, Sylvia and another employee, Myra, had a completely unprofessional conversion with each other in Spanish. They didn't know that my daughter understood every word.) read more

I had an appointment today at 9 am for eye exam and new glasses per authorization from my primary and insurance .they had no clue as where my authorization was. they had that faxed to them by primary doctor that's how they made that appointment . my primary re faxed them while I was there but refused to let me see Doctor Ha. Very disappointed visiting this optometrist. I have no idea how it is possible but Dr. Ha gave me a prescription that was absolutely terrible. I ordered my glasses with the prescription she gave me and the moment I put them on my vision was not okay. I know it takes about a week and so I kept using my lasses only to realize I had to go back to my old glasses. I had to go back to the same place from two years ago a get a new prescription, I compared it with Dr. Ha and I definitely see why my eyes weren't adjusting. The ladies on the desk, to the nursing staff are very sweet and always treat me with respect. Dr. Allavie is very professional with detailed explanations on what he has determined from my visit. I suffer from Lupus SLE, so it is critical that I have a thorough exam every year to monitor my eye health. The receptionists were so rude, my eye was irritated and I didn't know why, hence the doctor's appointment, she kept asking what was wrong so I described the condition of my eye as best I could; I let her know that they have been watery and irritated for days and my vision was blurred in the one eye and she kept asking if I had anything serious ... I thought blurred vision was serious? I don't know about the other doctors at Riverside Eye Specialist, but Dr. Ha is absolutely amazing. She is an incredibly thorough doctor and will see things other doctors had missed. I had been to 3 different doctors who could never fully correct the vision in my right eye, and Dr. Ha finally was able to identify and correct the problem. Highly, highly recommended! read more

I was referred to Dr. Glendrange by my doctor. I had gone to an optometrist who suggested I would be losing my vision any second now. She even suggested I go to urgent care immediately. Not sure what the hell they would've done. So I was terribly worried and upset by the time I got to Riverside Eye Specialists. Dr. Glendrage and the whole staff was very calm and reassuring and very professional. My eyes are fine. He reassured me that as long as I follow his care plan, there's no reason I should lose my vision. Big sigh of relief!! The whole office is GREAT!!! read more

Once again employees are beyond rude !! I walked in wrote my name on front desk list . No one acknowledged my presence, the 2 receptionist were talking amongs them selves(whispering ). Sat for a few minutes.I then hear my name and I stand up and said I am here . I smiled and walked towards Griselda. She proceeds to walk doesn't event says one word ... I asked how are you ? No response, I asked again .. "How are you today " still no answer ... I said are you ok ? She looks back (upset) & said I answered "I WAS FINE" I said my apologies I did not hear you .... she walked into a room , I assume I was to follow her . She walks in sits down and leaves me standing at the door . She doesn't does not give me direction as to what Or where I should go . "I said do I have a seat " and that upset here even more !! She replied YES!!! At this point I was was very uncomfortable and confused. I asked .. Do I bother you Griselda you seem upset ? She jumps up and walks out !! She left me there .. she came back and grabbed a paper and walk out!! I am sitting there .. trying to understand... I needed the medical attention as my eyes are swollen and irritated .. However I sat there and thought to myself .. NO ONE DESERVES THIS TO BE TREATED LIKE THIS. . It was at this point I got up and walked out . No one deserves this type of bad service. Dr. Ha was incredibly helpful and caring. She made sure to not start off with such a high power for my contacts so that my eyes could adjust to the change since I used ortho-k before. However, some of the other staff were not very welcoming and did not seem interested. They were pushing me around when I tried to get glasses and did not want to help me when I was not sure of my insurance plan. read more

Do not go here if you are in pain. They have some philosophical stance against pain medication. Despite my pleas for help, they just looked at me like my pain wasn't real and the discomfort I was in did not matter to them. I had to go to my GP for a three day course of pain medicine. When I told them I would no longer be their patient, they could not have cared less. read more

I am happy this opthalmologist worked out for me. I have been in desperate need of an eye doctor worth their weight in salt close to Riverside for some time. The contact specialist worked with me to find a pair of lenses to replace the same prescription I had been wearing for over three years. The difference was amazing. I could drive at night so much better. They are very professional, kind, and though they have a comfy waiting area they don't make you wait long. read more

Dishonest, deceptive, and unethical. I saw Dr. Glendrange for an eye infection in mid-June. As he was examining my eye, he saw a small eyelash in my eye and said, "Do you mind if I get that for you?" Of course, I agreed. Fast forward to a month later when I receive a bill from the office for the "surgery" I received. Dr. Glendrange billed my insurance company for a surgery (on top of an eye exam) when he literally just plucked an eyelash out of my eye with some tweezers. I received a bill for $89 for my share of this "surgery." Obviously, I called the office to dispute the charge believing this had to be some kind of mistake. I spoke to Robin in Billing four times over the course of two weeks (each time having to remind her of who I was and why I was calling) before the issue was finally resolved. Every time I spoke to Robin there was some kind of excuse as to why she never returned my calls ranging from the doctor was out for a week to "oops, I put your chart on the wrong doctor's desk." All the while, the office continued to send me bills for this "surgery." The eventual resolution? Dr. Glendrange offered to deduct $20 off of the charge. This office is incompetent and deceptive. It is flat-out wrong to charge me for a procedure without telling me upfront that there would be an additional charge, especially when it is something as menial as plucking an eyelash from my eye before he examines it. No one in their right mind would suspect a doctor removing an eyelash from your eye would result in $89 out of pocket. read more

Too bad zero isn't an option! Better yet -10! This is the most unprofessional, nasty, RUDE, disrespectful group of individuals I have come across in a medical setting, EVER. The B's at the desk are openly rude, smirk and roll their eyes at the patients, talk about the other staff AND patients openly for the patients in the lobby to hear. They saw me looking at them and stopped? Hell no, smirked and carried on. The most jaw dropping was the Dr. who took her patient back to the treatment area and returned her to the lobby after treatment, then joined the 2 desk B's in talking down about the [elderly] patient. If I had not been sitting there (for 45 minutes) to witness all of this, I would never have believed it. I wish that there were a State agency to report this group to, but until (and it will happen) they violate HIPPA regulations, they will just continue being RUDE, nasty disrespectful unprofessional people. read more

Phone staff and front desk not very friendly. Exam equipment is old. The lenses in the exam equipment were VERY dirty. I told the doctor and he was dismissive. He blamed dry eyes. I have never had dry eyes. I don't have confidence in the exam. He DID NOT measure my near vision. I'm 60 years old and need that checked. Not good. And to top I had to pick my prescription in the optical department. Bush league. I did not like that. I paid cash and left. $120. I will go to another doctor with decent equipment and get another exam before I buy 3 new pair of new glasses. read more
