Really liked the Riverside Food Lab. There is a nicely curated selection of counter restaurants to choose from. There are a lot of vegan restaurants too. Seating is a little limited so to go is probably best. The Lab is located right downtown so it's convenient to hotels and the convention center. Highly recommend. read more

The food lab is a great place for groups or families . We went with four adults and two kids and between everyone we were able to try 4 different places for food and a boba spot. Eateres that I visited include: Baba Chicken Loose Leaf Boba Maki Sushi Miies ice cream and cookies Shrimp shack Soho Ramen There's many more that I didn't get to look at but will try another time. Their current event is "College Night at the Food Lab" which happens every Thursday night. This is the day that college students get a discount on food and drinks when you present your valid student ID. The Food Lab is hit or miss, but there is always something for everyone! You can even grab an adult beverage or sweet treat. There is always music playing and a good energy and the occasional karaoke night. Maki Sushi & Cocktails and let me tell you it did not disappoint... I mean $6 for shots.. how could you go wrong? And Hand made sushi rolls... yum!! So, our PCH (Pacific Coast Hwy, Hwy 1, Hwy 101) trip started in Riverside Ca and a stop at the Riverside Food Lab. The location along with the parking are a bit tricky but it is definitely worth the stop. This location is actually what the name in the title states, it is a food lab with several fast food establishments. The ambiance is good and we had Monty's Burger which I will review in a later posting. You can park in the public parking garage around the corner from the establishment for one hour at no charge. You can get it validated by the food lab office and score an extra half hour. So rather you want something plant based, Mexican, seafood based, or just a sweet treat, the food lab is your one stop destination. Eat, Drink, and Be Merry, my Friends!! read more

Stopped at Maki Sushi & Cocktail (used to be called Maki Bomb) for a bite to eat. It was ok. I ordered a Rainbow Roll. The portion was on the smallish side and the flavor unimaginative. They had a sign that advertised $7 "Japanese Cocktails" for Happy Hour and when I asked further the server said it was actually just a shot and I could order a juice to add to the shot. Staff was friendly and food serves quickly. The Food Lab is a loud and energetic environment. A great choice of you have a group who want different global foods. Food is good, price is decent, just not all the stores open till 11pm. When we went the shrimp place and boba already closed. Baba Chicken only salad left is Caesar salad which I could not eat, so I end up with Fufu's. The lady is very nice, suggested the bowl option noted I can do whole salad or half and half as base, which would also include protein, and it's pretty good! Also got ramen, bao, dumplings and bento box from the ramen place. They are also good. Dumplings are on the smaller side though. Will go back again and hopefully other places are open to try. Public parking next door 1.5 hr free is a super plus! read more

There's vegan burgers, poke, Korean, and mediterranean - I got a few chicken shawarma bowls with the most delightful garlic sauce when I was in Riverside for a bit and I tried the vegan burgers as well. We were in town a few days for a competition, and it was the perfect spot for our team to meet up--everyone got to pick what they wanted and hang out together. This food hall is conveniently located about a block away from Mission Inn, where I was staying, and just north of the Fox Performing Arts Center. It's fairly large with quite a few dining and drinking options for lunch, dinner and dessert. After looking around, I ordered items to go from SoHo Ramen and Shrimp Shack Cajun Fusion, which are next to each other. From SoHo, I ordered a chashu bento box, which came with rice, steamed veggies, seaweed salad, 2 gyozas, miso-like soup and a soda. I would have liked to have tried the ramen, but didn't think it would travel well back to the hotel. Everything was tasty and a good value at $16.50. From Shrimp Shack, I got the Cajun shrimp and grits, my go-to order for Southern food. The dish was tasty, with a tomato-based sauce with sausage, peppers and onion, but 5 shrimp for the large amount of grits seemed a little skimpy. It was $14.50. I would have liked to have tried their fresh squeezed lemonade (also available as a refresher or hard) and their beignets, but I had my soda from Soho and beignets purchased in the morning from Beignet Spot.
