Came for brunch and as usual had great service and enjoyed the aesthetic of the restaurant. Our server was friendly, on point, and we didn't have to ask for anything. This was the first time for brunch here and our cocktails were delicious as usual. We ordered the omelette and the steak and eggs. We pulled up at 4:50pm for our 5pm dinner reservations. Surprise all the adjacent parking is now valet parking ($10). We were celebrating our 51st so I took advantage of the opportunity to feel more special. Newport Beach Special. I'm sorry I took my keys into the restaurant with me. Minimal wait before we were seated at a table for two in the intersection of the traffic lanes of seating and service, just off the corner of the bar. I had a chance to see almost all the plates that were brought out. All were beautiful and tempting. Adrian was our server and he took care of us like we were old friends. He asked of our occasion and I told him of our anniversary. We started with water, no ice (mine had ice) a sapphire Bombay martini with 3 bleu cheese stuffed olives. My wife had an appletini with Absolut vodka. Both tasty and booze forward. ;-). I had two, the second had 4 olives! We shared the crab cakes and although not as crispy on the crust as I would like, the surprisingly spicy crab was refreshing, the arugula was the perfect foil for the richness of the sauce. My bride decided on the blackened chicken with steamed rice and seasonal veggies and I had the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. Excellent. And a plus because it came to the table piping hot. I added a little Parmesan cheese and I proceeded to clean the bowl! Thank you to Melissa for the purse hook under the table hack. You got cool points for that one. One of the best dinners I have ever had. Very pricey what we ordered but worth every penny. It was Monday so hubs got their MONDAY ONLY ribeye. I got the Chilean seabass and it was the best seabass I have ever had in my life. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The crispiness of it was perfection. The purple mashed potatoes were so unbelievably delicious. I'm craving them now too. The outside patio was gorgeous and the weather was perfect. The staff were attentive and happy. We dined here on a Saturday evening. I had the filet and mashed potatoes and my husband ordered the New York and mac and cheese and added bacon. I ordered my filet medium and it ended up coming out dry and more well done than medium. At some point towards the end of our dinner I reached over to take a bite of my husbands Mac and cheese and was disgusted at the sight of a DEAD BUG in the almost already all eaten Mac and cheese dish ‍ I was instantly disgusted. I let our waitress know and she gave a little apology and when she brought us the bill all they did was take $12.50 off of our almost $300 total! Not only were we only given this small discount BUT no manager or anyone came to apologize and offer us anything. This to me was horrible on this restaurants part, it's safe to say we will not be returning. The name "Dapper and Dine" conjures for me old, stuffy, dark with men in Zoot suits scattered about. Wrong! I was pleasantly surprised to enter a space with lots of glass, modern and elegant. Some more private rooms for groups but they still have glass pane walls so you don't feel siloed off from the other parts of the restaurant. The only thing it had in common with my expectation is smooth jazz piping in. The staff was efficient! On point! Like we are on The Polar Express! They handled our group better than any restaurant event I can recall. Afterwards I had dessert at the bar, sans the group experience, and the staff was friendly, and equally efficient. Our group had 2 dinner options. Fettucine Alfredo and Chipolte chicken penne pasta with cream sauce. The fettuccine looked fantastic, big portion too. But I wanted the spicier chipotle. It was very satisfying. Also a large dish, a slight heat, not much. Good flavor with large chunks of chicken. I had to cut them in 1/2 to eat. The pasta was tender with a bit of chew, as it should be. I don't think it's made in house but the dish was very good still. The butter cake was also delicious. Comes with vanilla ice cream and blueberry/raspberry duo. Really nice way to end the night. I also got a slice of chocolate cake to take home to the kids. Haven't seen it or tasted it because I ordered to go. But the server said it's huge compared to the butter cake. And the butter cake was much larger than I expected. 2 people can eat it. Honestly my new favorite place. I've already been here multiple times & it's amazing every single time. My favorite dish at the moment is their blackened chicken with garlic mashed potatoes instead of rice. It is SO good, I'm obsessed with it. I also really enjoyed their pork chop with the garlic mashed potatoes. For dessert, their butter cake is yummy. I liked it more than the chocolate cake I had from a previous visit. This place used to be Sam's Bann Thai. I think they've created something better and special here. Food was pretty good! Dapper did not have a prix fixe, Valentine's day menu. So I decided to try their steak picado which was medium cooked, beef skirt steak. I was surprised at how good my dish was. I wasn't expecting it to taste great. Even the plain rice was savory and flavorful! Hubby got the New Zealand rack of lamb. The lamb was cooked deliciously! But I could not for the life of me, understand why they served it with mint jelly and this tomato onion compote? Those were weird, especially the mint jelly. Off-putting flavors with the lamb. Classic sides would've worked just fine. The purple garlic mashed potatoes were tasty at least. Crab cakes were okay, same with the corn cake for dessert. The latter did come out piping hot and fresh, definitely reminiscent of sweet corn bread with corn pieces inside and vanilla ice cream on top. But it didn't blow me away. My Georgia peach mocktail was really refreshing & good, but $13 is steep. My hubby's Oaxacan old fashion was good too but they poured a very little amount. Overall, cute dinner spot in Riverside! Service was good. Attentive. Nice, forest green decor, with parisian chairs in the covered patio. To me, prices were high, kind of expensive (I've been spoiled with 21 euros or $22 French flank steak with bearnaise sauce and frites in Paris, France from a year and a half ago).
