Unprofessional, incompetent, argumentative.... We brought our boat to Riverside Marine Services and left our keys in the ignition. We advised the manager and staff that our keys were in the ignition. When we picked up our boat and asked for our keys, we were told that we never left our keys. Even though they were able to describe our keys in detail and they went back into their facility to look for them, they ended up claiming that we never left them with our boat. When we asked why no one contacted us about "no keys," we were told "it would take too much time." We tried to talk to them about our issue and we were constantly interrupted. When we asked why we were being interrupted - we were told that "there's no point in talking to you." My husband tried to talk to her and was interrupted continuously up to the point that she hung up on us. Very rude, unprofessional, incompetent, and argumentative. Ive been in the washougal area for 20 yrs and have used Walt {the owner} and the guys there a couple times and I had nowhere near the bad service on these reviews. First of all, a boat, is a hole in the water to pour money in, and if you could do the work, do it, otherwise pay up. Walt took in a beastly 26ft old searay i bought and tried to fix and was very fair fixing what i tried to fix and screwed up on. And on a different boat replaced a lower unit i located a submerged tree with and it was fair as well. The only semi negative i can share is i just got another boat recently and he declined to troubleshoot it due to its age and thats because hes.......smart. lol. I ended up getting the boat fixed but it was a stupid buy in hindsight. BTW, his wife Marianne in acctng, is a sweetheart as well, and I believe a daughter helped me with payment etc, also pleasant. read more

WoW. 0 communication, It is taking forever to Fix the boat. He doesnt check that he has all the parts he needs to Fix the boat .he waits until last minute and The he realized something is missing. They dont inclide the price/hour or how many hours for labour. I cant wait for this nightmare to end . Please, stay away! We got carged for more than 6000$ for labour and he hasnt even fixed what he was supposed to Fix . Claustrophobic! read more

Horrible experience, I'm pretty mechanically inclined, so when the owner kept referencing the wrong parts for my boat I was suspicious. He then took an entire month to write up an estimate. He the came to me with an estimate for over 10k. I was shocked. I came in with a simple repair then was quoted an astonishing amount, not only was he wrong in the diagnosis, he added a lot of other part that he said were back ordered and couldn't get them. I ordered those same parts on Amazon that are OEM parts for a quarter of the price and then. Walt the owner got upset because I did that and became combative when talking to him. He then took his time for another month and has done nothing. My boat is now in pieces getting parts replaced that don't need to be. I tend not to listen to reviews because most reviews are when companies do a horrible job. I know one thing, that is not how you operate a company, that man needs to retire and hand the business to someone who knows what they're doing. Also his reasoning for not getting me a quote sooner was because his email was down. Really! That's why!? Everyone has an email, my unborn child has an email. What are we doing. read more

Riverside gets poor reviews for a reason. They may not be terribly overpriced as marine services go, but they finagle cash out of you once you are in their trap. I brought a boat trailer to them for some basic repairs, and they slapped me with a $500 bill because they had "to wash it and write up a repair estimate". I complained about their tactic, and they reduced the bill by $100. A good business practice would have been to advise me beforehand that I'd be charged for the repair estimate and the bath. Walt and Maryann have been more than accommodating when possible and I can trust getting the right advise from Walt whenever there was an issue with my Chaparral. I don't shop around for best price when I need work done on my boat or car and prefer to work with a trusted experts like Walt and his team. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR BOAT HERE!!!! The customer service I experienced here has to be one of he worst I have ever had involving a business! They do things on their own time, no communication and if you question any of their practices YOU are the one in the wrong. Scheduled an oil change, 3 weeks out, no problem. Brought my boat in on the Monday we agreed on. Since I just purchased a Raptor @ Westlie Ford I was next door a couple times during the WEEK they had my boat. Each time I drove by it was out in the weather. When I went in and questioned when it would be ready on Wednesday I was told I would get a call. NEVER HAPPENED. Went back on Thursday to ask what the deal was and was seriously asked if I really needed my boat back for the upcoming weekend....um YES it was Memorial weekend! Was told they'd get to it and have it ready. 3 pm on Friday and no contact so I drove down 4pm. Upon arriving was told it had not been invoiced and since "office lady" had gone to the bank I'd have to wait since she was the only one who could do invoicing????. 5 DAYS of my boat sitting out when it could have been in my garage only to have it completed on Friday afternoon. Once the "Office Lady" returned we exchanged F Bombs as I was beyond frustrated with their BS. She is one of the rudest people I have ever met and treated me like a dog. I was made to wait in the lobby, quietly while she did ? in her office. When I spoke up that it had been 10 min and I had waited like a good boy so could she invoice me so I could get to my Son's Bday all I got was a smart remark from her office. Not even professional enough to come out and face me. I will never allow them to touch my boat again...returned my Wakesetter in HORRIBLE condition...greasy footprints on the carpet, gouge in the fiberglass, dirt everywhere from the dust, rain and being outside. If you care about your boat and appreciate good customer service DO NOT GO HERE! If you like to be treated like a dog and your boat not cared for by all means go there. Riverside Marine offered terrible service and little mechanical ability in working on my Evinrude outboard. I had to go back 3 times because it still didn't run after they worked on it. I took it out last weekend and it died in the middle of the river - fortunately a couple of nice guys came along and towed me in. I called Riverside from the river and the woman who answers the phone - and I believe is an owner - told me she did not have time for me after I explained that I was stranded. $450 down the drain and still no working engine. They broke the pull cord and their repair on that gave up last weekend as well. Very disappointed. Don't waste your time or money going here. read more

My experience with Riverside Marine was not good and it's partly my fault this time because I should have known better than to go back to them. First of all let me explain that I have a bit of experience working on my own stuff so I know when someone is jerking my chain. I took my honda outboard to have ittuned up and the water pump impeller replaced (just over $300). I gotit back, put it on my boat and went fishing. It wouldn't run at all. I took it back and left it again. This time I was told I needed the carb rebuilt. The cost came to around $300. When I protested that I could have bought a new carb for that I was told that they are over $600 new. I paid and left. The motor wouldn't run right after a short time. This time I looked at it myself. There was fuel shooting out of the bowl vent at the top...stuck float. To satisfy my curiosity I looked the cost of new carb ($95). The screws holding the bowl on were frozen so it was pretty obvious that they had never been taken out when they "rebuilt' my carb. I went down there with the outboard to voice my displeasure at being bent over. I spoke with Walt who told me he had no problem with charging me 3 times the cost of a new carburetor and not informing me prior that it would be to my advantage to just get a new carb. He asked where I could get a carb for that price and I told him online. He said he didn't know anything about what they do online and that he wasn't a Honda dealer so he couldn't get that price. I informed him that the MSRP was $115 and that I was getting a retail price whereas he would get it for wholesale. He said he could look at it for me but since it wasn't his fault he would charge me more money. I declined. Apparently he has a long list ofregular clients who like being taken advantage of. That, or he gets enough new clients moving into the area where he doesn't have to worry about customer service, satisfaction or return business. Now the sad part is that I have noproblem taking the carb apart and doing what needed to be done but Ithought that this time I would just make it easier on myself and support a local business. Had I known that I could have replaced the whole carburetor with a new one for $95 in about 15 min. with two bolts and a fuel hose to mess with prior to getting long shafted for $300 I would have done so. Guess that's why I wasn't informed beforehand by Walt and the Gang at Riverside. Don't take your boat there. Go to Pacific Powerboats or somewhere else. At least when I had problems with their repairs they bent over backwards to make it right instead of bending me over forwards. Oh, post script.......They also called the Washougal Police on me because I was yelling and using bad language. A terrible experience with them. Had the stop switch go out on my Johnson engine. They did a troubleshoot and called me. mechanic said new switch would be a little over a 100.00 and total would be near 400.00. I kept calling them to find when it would be ready--they said they would call but never did except to call me and tell me the bill was 550.00 and it is ready to pick up. Ended up 121.00 for the part which checks out on the internet, 125.00 for the troubleshoot. 50.00 for the 5 minute phone call to me--a bunch of other40-60.00 charges, 75.00 to install it and 75.00 to test run the engine--- What a rip--3 connectors on the stop switch and that it is it. Bill should have been around 300-350.00 tops.Would not send my worse friend there. I should have read the other reports on Yelp, etc. We all agree--DON'T GO THERE!!!!! read more

I am a returning customer of Riverside Marine Service, at the Port of Camas. I have nothing but good things to say about them. I have always found them willing to look for the best scenarios in helping me with my used boats (that have had problems that had to be addressed much like the one negative reviewer here, although also not anyone at Riverside Marine's fault). It's expensive to have a boat and even more so when you buy old stuff (a deal!), but then must update or repair so much (not such a deal!). The universal joke, B-O-A-T, "Break Out Another Thousand." Boats are expensive toys, and trying to have one on the cheap rarely works out, as I've found from experience more than once. I have found Walt honest and up front about the likely costs of things. His willingness to advise me (via him or his employees) to help me save money is beyond the normal for any business, but especially one as this that has long time clients among some of the wealthiest boaters in the entire region. As a former sole-proprietor, businessman myself, I know how awful it is to do all you can for someone only to have them turn on you. When such a person becomes abusive, I too, have had to call the Sheriff. Such people need to know that there's a limit to how they can express their perceived dis-satisfactions.
