The doctor tried to look into it but could not find it. She said that she probably just forgot to mark it down. Another time, another doctor swore that my child probably had strep even though the test came back negative. Before we left, I asked about a rash he had and suddenly, they realized it was coxsackie. Another time, I asked about an issue I was concerned with for one child and the doctor wasn't concerned. 10 months later, we find out the other child has a major issue that we would have tested for 10 months earlier if the dr had taken my concern seriously and knew that it potentially had genetic implications for siblings. After we found out about the major issue, the doctors did not contact us to see how he was doing. I have reached out to them regarding this issue via the portal and they ghosted me. How do pediatricians ghost a parent? I had questions and suggestions so that other parents are not taken by surprise with the issue my son has and they ghosted me. We have seen every doctor in this practice throughout our long tenure with them and although they seem nice, they are not competent except if it's just your average check up.

When my son had an emergency illness and was subsequently hospitalized for three days, they kept in constant with me and the hospital to stay fully informed of his situation. I want to give special praise to one doctor in particular, Dr. David Costabile. He is extremely patient, listens to your concerns and thoroughly addresses all your questions no matter how minute. He explains everything in layman's terms and never throws medical jargon in your face. He has been the best health care profession that I've ever dealt with.

I figured if she could trust Helping Kids Pediatrics with her kids, then I do not need to look any further. Now, 8 years later AND a county away, Drs. Jacobs continues to care for all four of our children. I can honestly say that they treat our kids like their own. Both doctors are like walking encyclopedias; with knowledge not only in their pediatric specialty, but also in various other specialties. Their expertise help new and veteran parents make informed decisions about their children's care. Dr. Elizabeth is also a Lactation Consultant, so for brand new mother's, this is such a blessing in one easy location! They are very responsive to any questions that I may have AND with any documentation needed (especially for school-aged kids). They are thorough during the examinations/visits and genuinely listen and care about parental concerns. The patient portal is also helpful and easy to use. In a nutshell, if you are a new parent, new to the area, or in the market for a fresh set of eyes, I would highly recommend Drs. Stanley and Elizabeth Jacobs at Helping Kids Pediatrics. We scheduled a visit prior to our son being born. The 2 of them spent over and hour with us answering dozens of questions and never once pushed for our commitment. After the meeting my wife and I were very confident in their abilities as physicians. They are parents themselves and this was evident right away. There was no doubt we were choosing them as our sons physicians. It has been 9 months and at least a dozen visits now and I am happy to report that our expectations have not only been met but exceeded. I would not hesitate to recommend this team to anyone I know.

In conversations before the bris, I knew that my friend was nervous about the process, the ceremony, and the actual circumcision. I can say with confidence that Dr. Rumbak put the family's mind at ease both with her expertise and her gentle approach. As a "spectator" at the ceremony, Dr. Rumbak passed around sheets so we can all follow along and feel part of the ceremony, and explained what different blessings meant. She also added some Jewish text in a modern and relevant way, which I appreciated, and my family continued to discuss post ceremony. The sweet baby did super well and was calm throughout the entire process. Truthfully, I didn't even know when the actual circumcision actually happened because she was so gentle and discrete. At the end of the ceremony, many people went up to Dr. Rumbak to compliment her on one of the best brit mila's they ever went to, and many asked for her card (including my mom for our temple!). She has a great business partner in Shachar, who socialized with the guests of the ceremony, kept everything organized, and was just an all around stand up guy. Oh, and how great that she is a mohel AND a doctor. Talk about putting your mind at ease..that will definitely do it. Highly recommend.

Would have loved so much to give a glowing review of Dr. Rumbak but unfortunately we look back on…read morethe day of my son's bris and what transpired after with a lot of sadness. Dr. Rumbak deserves credit and thanks for her discretion in not circumcising our son the day of his bris due to a urological condition she noticed in her ore-ceremony examination. We are thankful for that. She performed what essentially worked out to a baby naming ceremony for us. Obviously the day was emotional to begin with and the news she couldn't circumcise was extremely disappointing and heartbreaking since this was a day we looked forward to for so long. In the days after the bris we were able to absorb the events better and realized exactly what happened. To begin with, my wife asked for a program to keep as they were being collected (yes, collected), and the response was, "I collect them." She said the same to my mom (baby's grandma). We consider this ridiculous - even if the baby's grandparents couldn't have one, at least the parents should. When I emailed Dr. Rumbak about the issue I'm about to describe, I also mentioned the program and that part of my email was left unaddressed. Here's the major problem, though. We paid $800 for a circumcision plus $150 for travel from Manhattan to Nassau. We were happy to do this because we really liked Dr. Rumbak on the phone. However, after the bris, we had a bit of a realization that really irked us. Why were we never offered any kind of refund for the circumcision not being performed? It really should have been offered that day, on the spot, but it wasn't. Days and weeks turned to months and we still were never offered anything. We didn't even get an email or phone call to check on our son given the medical issue Dr. Rumbak identified. This was surprising given the emotional nature of the day but also because part of Dr. Rumbak's service (advertised on her web site and vouched for in her reviews) is her frequent follow up with the family. Finally after a few months, I emailed her explaining we feel we are owed some kind of refund due to the most critical part of the ceremony, the circumcision, not being performed. It is that expertise for which we paid. Dr. Rumbak issued a $200 refund, saying that the rate for a baby naming is $600. It's unfortunate such a beautiful day was soured by the experience we had. As new parents we feel we were, in a way, taken advantage of. Dr. Rumbak did ultimately give some money back, but we feel we shouldn't have had to ask. Experiences like this are what make people cynical about organized religion. The right thing to do would have been to give us a refund without us having to ask. We would not recommend her.

Phelps Northwell Croton I don't know why I call my physician…read moreat this office, my Primary Care Physician. My spouse is having a hip replaced in two days. I get a tic bite; I can't afford to get sick because I will be the only caregiver for recovery at home. I decide it prudent to follow the CDC recommended prophylactic treatment - one dose of an antibiotic, for high incident areas (New York State is one), within 72 hours. We both have a Primary Care physician at Phelps Croton, or so we have said. It's a simple request - there is a bite but no symptoms yet - you explain the situation to the intake office staff. The message back from a physician is to come back if and when I have symptoms; there is nothing else they can do. You ask for the practice manager who follows your logic, or so it seems, but repeats the message: Make an appointment when you have symptoms, otherwise go to an urgent care facility. Waiting for symptoms will be too late; I need this one dose asap, you explain - you are my primary care, or so I thought. Around it goes: again I explain - the antibiotic is to prevent a symptomatic disease, necessary within 72 hours of a bite, necessary to assure I can help my returning post-surgery spouse. Sorry, the manager says, but there is nothing I can do.
