    Last week, Compass Maintenance provided my personal phone number--which is not associated with any…read morebusiness--to an unknown woman, who then sent two men to my home to assess why my air conditioner was not blowing cold air. These individuals arrived without identification or professional documentation and proceeded to walk through my home while only my teenage son was present. They represented themselves as qualified technicians and informed me that the condenser was broken, instructing me not to turn the air conditioner back on. They also stated they would contact me once a replacement was approved. I received no follow-up from Compass for four days, during which temperatures in my home exceeded 80 degrees. Out of concern, I contacted a licensed HVAC professional. They advised me to reset the thermostat. After doing so, the temperature immediately began to drop--clearly indicating a defective thermostat, not a broken condenser. This experience leads me to believe that the individuals Compass sent were either unqualified or attempting to recommend unnecessary work.

Every time I contacted the company for repairs, it took weeks to get a response, and when they did send someone, the work was either poorly done or made the problem worse. The management team was consistently rude, unprofessional, and inflexible in communication--always taking a "their way or the highway" approach. There was no sense of care or urgency in how they handled tenant concerns. After four years, I was given just two months' notice to vacate so they could sell the property. This was a deeply disappointing experience.

Below are just a few issues my husband and I have had with this horrible company. On the very first month of our lease, my husband and I set up our rent to autopay. I scheduled this payment to go through on the 1st of the month. Only AFTER we had incurred a late penalty did Great Homes let us know that those payment drafts tend to take 1-2 days to go through. Additionally, as we are preparing to move out, Great Homes is sending agents to see the place...WHILE THE LEASE IS STILL IN OUR NAME. I'm sorry, but if we paid to have the place through September 30, you need to hold off agents and potential tenants until then. We paid for that time. Lastly, "customer service" is always dry and rude. Upon getting charged for October's rent (we moved out in September...), I called the management company. The initial response I received was a snarky, "You have to cancel the payment." Um, but you said you have us as moving out in your records, right? Even if this is my mistake, I appreciate being addressed with kindness and empathy-- help me correct my error, don't belittle me. Overall, this company is horrible. Then again, I have yet to experience a good property management company... Update to follow about the deposit refund.

    We have a had a very good experience renting a beautiful townhome through Great Homes Realty…read more Belinda and Missy have been very kind, professional and genuine from start and during move out, unlike other property management firms they did not try to burden us with any unfair charges. We had to move out due to job change but our stay was wonderful. Timely refund of deposit, maintenance assistance whenever requested.
