Meh. Not sure how to rate this experience as we ordered takeout and it was the first time trying Rivertowne Public House. The inside is extremely dark like a dive bar experience. The outside is somewhat inviting reminds me of Duck and Dog. Overall the food was ok, salmon too oily, nachos not good, pizza bland and wings nowhere near as good as I expected from the other reviews. Doubt we will be back for a second round. read more

This is a locals place - we sat at the bar largely ignored while the staff chatted to the locals. We got burgers (I think after the melvins disaster we really should not order burgers around here except for the places we know are good). Anyway - nothing positive about the burgers nor fries - a we went to pick up our kid from a house in the neighborhood and mentioned we had come here. The parents were like oh yeah its been a while since we went there - and they go out to eat a lot. Yup - so they know. Bar was large so one star there. Music way too loud. We have been frequent customers of public house for YEARS. The past half a dozen times we have came there has been something wrong. The other night I ordered takeout for my family. we got 2 sandwiches and nachos. The "nachos" came stale, cold, we didn't even touch them. They gave us half a serving of sour cream and pico. No beans nothing else. I was stunned. I reached out To management about this to try and resolve the matter and never heard back. Came here for my bday in September. It was a spontaneous idea. My husband ordered a pasta dish and I went for the filet of beef with green beans and roasted potatoes. The flavors of both meals were very good. The portions were spot on. My steak was a tad bit undercooked. I ordered it medium-rare, but it was still cold in the center. I have this thing about sending food back, so I didn't. I'd rather have my meat undercooked than overcooked anyway and I did end up consuming each and every bite. The atmosphere is nothing spectacular but our booth was comfortable. It seemed a bit dark in there, but not dreary. There were several televisions and college football games were being watched. There is a nice big bar at the front of the restaurant. It was refreshing to find this restaurant served something else besides pub food. We had good food that was not overpriced. The service was great but the food was not. I ordered a medium well steak, thinking it would be great based on the wording from the menu and it was the worst steak I've ever had. Great customer service. It wasn't very busy but it was around 7pm on a Tuesday when we visited. My son had the teriyaki wings and enjoyed them, my husband had chicken sandwich and though it was missing the cheese the server was quick to fix it. Rivertowne Public House is a scrumptious Bar & Grill! We started off with the buffalo chicken dip (FANTASTIC) and finished with the Southern Belle Burger. I will be putting this meal down as my death row meal. Immediately when sitting down we discovered a lovely group of st. patty celebrators! Green shirt was MVP (he was ready for the bar crawl). 5/7 were the best people ever, the other 2 really brought down the energy in the bar but regardless the two could not ruin the night. Our waitress truly blew both of us away, a fine little woman she was, attracted both genders and had little rizzler eyes. Truly up'd the experience when she came back with the bbq sauce and said "thicc with two c's". At the end of our meal a nice little band played us out, truly a 10/10 experience, HIGHLY recommend. We went to Rivertowne Public House Friday night. Grabbed some dinner and listened to music with some friends. Food is inconsistent and a bit pricey. Parking is tough unless it's later in the night where the other businesses are closed. But we love being able to hear live music and people watch. Pop Rock Cult was excellent! I'd definitely go hear them play again. I wish Rivertowne Public House website and fb page was kept better up to date. read more

Last time I was here the name was O'Brien's. The menu changed with the name, and for the better!! We came in for a quite lunch - service was prompt, they were respecting Covid distancing suggestions, and all the waitstaff were wearing masks - good job!! I have the Southern Bell burger (pimento cheese topping) - cooked to perfection and very tasty. The side of fries was HUGE - too much to eat for lunch, crispy outside, soft and flavorful inside. We just had brunch on Sunday. Emily is an excellent server. She's thoughtful and sweet. Instead of bringing extra paper napkins, she brought the cloth ones. The eggs benedict was cooked perfectly! All in all a wonderful lunch outside. Karol was also attentive. Good teamwork here. read more

As we like to do when possible, we sat at the bar. The GM Kristen waited on us. We felt like we made a new friend!! We live almost NextDoor to here, but don't frequent enough. While everything along the main strip on 17 is packed with people with anywhere from 30 minutes to over an hour wait, we walked right in and sat down at the bar. No wait!! On a football day and the big College Hoops tourney in town , this was nice. They have so many TVs you don't have to worry about finding your team. If you don't , ask them. They have the Sunday ticket too. We got the French dip and wings. The wings were large and tender. I haven't ordered wings since the big shortage. I LOVE wings!! Even though they were $14.00, they were moist and delicious. I asked them to mix the Buffalo and Teriyaki flavors together. The blue cheese is most definitely house made! So yummy. My boyfriend said the French dip was just what he wanted and they gave plenty of au jus! Extra crispy and delicious fries Of course I had an extra spicy Bloody Mary. It was tasty as well. Probably will not ever go here, or maybe I will be gracious and give them another shot since it is so close to home. My husband picked up a to-go order of pizza and wings. I specifically asked for extra cheese on the pizza. When he came in and I looked at the pizza I was shocked. If that is extra cheese they must not put any cheese on a regular one. The wings were nasty and favor less. Overall, the price is inflated. The quality is similar to Ci-Ci's or Little Caesar's. They are probably better. read more

Really good Sunday brunch! I had no idea that they did brunch. We happened to be in the area and decided to stop to eat and discovered that they have Sunday Brunch with a bloody Mary bar until 2:30. I didn't try the drinks. I ordered breakfast, my son the French dip & my husband the classic Eggs Benedict. Everything was very hot when delivered. So this has been our go to quick night out place to go. We average about once every 10 days. Tonight we go and they've joined the ranks of restaurants charging extra if you use your credit card. I finally went to RPH last Friday for some drinks with friends & I wasn't planning on eating because we had already had dinner at Opal earlier in the eve but I had to try the truffle fries out, TOTALLY worth it! We got there around 840pm and got a high top table off the bar area. Place was definitely lively for a Friday, also there was ample parking outside which is always good. We sat and got greeted by our server quickly. We both ordered some drinks and water. Water came first and drinks soon after. Our friends arrived and did the same, they have been there many times and like it. We both ordered the truffle fries to snack on and they did not disappoint!! The atmosphere is good, upbeat and everyone is having a good time. The band was AWESOME! I was super impressed by them, they played everything from 1960's R&B to the late 90's rock hits.. brought me back to high school! It was Great. We will definitely be back soon! read more

Our party of 4 had an average dinner on Sunday, Feb 19 in the restaurant (not seated on sidewalk). Two of us had been to RTPH in the past and enjoyed the entire experience and the other two were dining there for the first time. Unfortunately the service was terribly slow and our food caused upset stomachs with all four of us. Our server handled the circumstances as best she could, but in the end it was an underwhelming experience which means RTHP is no longer on our short list of favorites the area. Stopped by Rivertowne Public House on a Saturday for lunch, just as we all were thawing out from the snow. Inside decor is large open area, bar at front, 2 large community tables in middle, pub tables along the windows, booths and tables though out. There is a outside front patio that would be decent to sit in better weather. The wood panel is neat, not too dark, has that rustic look. There are also a few large screen TVs to watch games. The menu is basic bar food, with some small plates and then burgers, sandwiches, etc. Perfect food to go with beer. They have a large beer tap with 24 different beers, and 4 of them were local brews - Two Blokes, Cooper River, Palmetto, and Holy City. I ordered the swiss burger, which was an angus beef patty, with sautéed mushrooms, swiss cheese, horseradish aioli, on a pretzel bun. This looked good, but was just average in taste. I had asked for it cooked medium, but it was instead well done. At this point it was a little dry and lacked flavor. Can't say I tasted the mushrooms or the aioli either. But the pretzel bun was really good (soft & fresh). Then the fries...not a fan. They were really short cuts (like 2-3 inches), and then soggy. Not crisp, and not that good. Service here was decent, friendly and attentive, seemed to be a large staff ready to work. The place actually filled up for lunch while I was here. Drinks were being made at the bar and orders were arriving out on time. Overall RPH was a place to stop for beer and a burger. But they need to perfect their cooking of burgers (and change their fries). I wanted to really like this place, as it is so close to home. For now it's just 2 stars, but I'll try them again this year. read more
