So I think the management changed or the chef is new recently because I went in April and it was amazing the food was delicious and lots of menu options. But I went again in June and the menu is extremely limited and the food was not good. The wines are good and the two appetizers I've had each time are still delicious: tuna tartare, and the truffle fries. But each time I went I had the burger and it's bad. Very bland and last time it was too under so I got it well this time and it was straight burnt. It was bitter I didn't finish it. It only comes with cheese lettuce and onions, very boring. The service is good I had the same server both times she's very nice and always helpful with any questions and recommendations. I went on a Friday night walk in and there was no wait. Also the bathroom sign has an arrow to direct you but it's pointing the wrong way so just walk past the sign to get to the bathroom. All in all I won't be back for the food. This review is strictly for drinks outside. We didn't try the food. Great happy hour prices!!!!! I had my dog with me but the outside patio and grass area is dog friendly. There wasn't service outside so you have to go in and order/pay and bring it out. The server Alex helped my husband carry everything out and even came back outside with a bowl of water for my dog. He was so nice and helpful. But it's a lot to have to keep going in and out to order. So we opted not to order food or more drinks. We'll come back without our dog and dine inside for dinner. Great burgers and apps! Love the outdoor space but wish you could still see the river (built high rises to "revitalize" the area). Service pretty good, but sometimes they don't have enough staff to service both outside and inside so things can get delayed but they all try their best - it's more a matter of volume than anything else. PLEASE HELP! We need to talk about Riverview. I've been here several times over the years. It's a fun place, great location, right at the end of the Main Street. There is absolutely no parking anymore. It's terrible. Someone needs to figure that out. The new homes consume all the spots that are nearby and the other establishments are left lacking parking, especially on a Friday night. The place was nearly empty downstairs and a party upstairs. How can they expect to keep these places in business-including other restaurants. I think there's a downward spiral that's affecting the food. Busy places make better food! I wanted to give Riverview a better score, but the dinners tasted meh. 1 waitress served the entire area dining area, which made her frazzled and hard to get a hold of because of how busy she was. I've been to this restaurant a few times. All the prior experiences up until tonight, were decent. Unfortunately, this time, the food was mediocre at best. On Tuesday, they have a weekly special that consists of 1 entree and 1 drink or dessert for $20. My husband got the mashed potatoes and braised beef shank, I had the honey walnut shrimp, and my son had chicken tenders and french fries (off the kids menu). My husband's dish was awful. The potatoes were cold and hard. The beef shank was fatty and you could tell this was premade and microwaved, clearly not well. The honey walnut shrimp did not look anything like the picture they advertised and it was edible, but not good. I was thankful it was at least hot, but not your typical honey walnut ingredients. Lastly, my son's meal was probably the best out of the 3. It was smoking hot and you could tell it was not microwaved. The service was a bit off. They filled all the water glasses except my son's glass. We had to ask for water for him as if he was invisible. My husband ordered dessert instead of a drink and the waitress gave us the check before even bringing out my husband's dessert. We never complained about the food, but I definitely thought that was odd and maybe a hint to hurry up. The restaurant is near the river in Burlington. In the spring and fall, sitting outside is nice. It's a short walk to the river with nice views. Although I feel the food can be hit or miss at times the restaurant itself has a great vibe even if you stop in just for drinks. The bartenders, manager, and staff are always friendly & whether you sit inside or outside it's a great atmosphere. I tried there wine Wednesday's & I highly recommend it because they have some great selections at 20% off your glass. Also, they don't advertise it well but they have a great happy hour (even on Saturday). Some of my favorites from here include the Brussel sprouts, truffle fries, beet & burrata salad, & there charcuterie board is excellent. I only wish their food was a little bit more consistent & a little less pricey. I honestly wasn't ready for how good this restaurant was! We have lived in Burlington County for 3 years and had no idea a restaurant this good was in our area. I started this review after just getting back from a fantastic dinner at Riverview . I'm completing it now a week later. Everything about our dinner was fantastic. To start off, the place had a cool vibe to it. As we walked up to the restaurant, we were greeted with dancehall reggae music playing outside. They definitely get points for that! There was a cute outdoor dining area, but it was about 95 degrees and much too hot to sit outside. We will definitely return for that. We loved the modern interior. Our waitress (I wish I had gotten her name), was AWESOME. We asked her to recommend good entrees for us and she did not disappoint. We started off with the Flash-Fried Brussel Sprouts! Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! I've had this appetizer at other restaurants and many times, they go overboard with the balsamic dressing and totally ruin it. Here, it was JUST RIGHT. We followed up with the Seared Faroe Island Salmon. It was also fantastic. We loved the fingerling potatoes with the combination of tomatoes and onions in wine sauce. I can't wait to have it again! Oh... and I almost forgot. Before the meal, the waitress brought us what we assumed was some kind of warm pretzel bread with an olive oil/pesto dip. That TOO, was very good! She was also able to help the bartender concoct a nice mocktail for me. I don't drink alcohol, but I love a nice fruity virgin drink and they made me a great drink that wasn't on the menu. Great location on High Street unfortunately their previously unobstructed view of the Delaware River has mostly been blocked by condos built ~6 years ago. However they have a nice bar setup and outdoor seating area. We have only visited a handful of times to enjoy their very popular Tuesday night special. The meals were always very enjoyable. Asked for recommendations on a Facebook page for a good place for birthday dinner. Come to find out the chef, Oscar, recommended this restaurant. What a great recommendation. My husband had the tomahawk pork chops which were moist and delicious. I had the ribeye steak that was so tender. I enjoyed every bite. We also had some oysters on the half shell. We had a fabulous server, Toni, and she was outstanding, but the best thing of all was the martini that Toni made for me. I'm very particular. To be even more clear, this deal was found on a newer app called " my perks" which seems to have better places listed than the more widely known site. The restaurant is located about a block from river, but has an unobstructed view of the water( especially if seated outside) on one of the main business lined streets. There is street parking but also a lot closer to the water. The bar is medium sized but in a large and open room, another large and open room with floor to ceiling windows for the main dining area. It is sparsely decorated but clean and simple. Several of the 4 person tables use bench seating, almost creating a booth feel. Trish selected seafood risotto, a very soupy version but nice flavor( think Manhattan clam chowder base) I only got to taste the calamari but they were tender. I had a fried chicken sandwich with a side order of their Mac n cheese. The Sammie was good, nice and crispy texture and very good roll, it just needed something in the line of condiments to finish. The orecchiette pasta was very good and what I would reorder if we purchase another deal. The fries that came with were pretty good, but perhaps were rushed out due to our order taking fairly long to arrive. A crispier version would have pleased me and our junior tasters more. The house burger looked good and was devoured in seconds. Service was very friendly but a bit unsure of themselves it seemed. A noisy party made the room very unconversational. When brought to their obvious attention a free cup of joe was the only offer to remedy this. Beautiful, big & airy restaurant on the water, that I found via 'Get My Perks' app. $50 worth of food for $25! There was a loud, irritating party going on in the same room that we were seated in. My "no poker face" annoyance & ask to move elsewhere got me a complimentary coffee. The baby stopped LOUDLY crying, so we stayed put. My seafood risotto was very good ! - a perfect sized portion too. We've been coming to Riverview for years, it's been wonderful each time. On Tuesday they have the $15 double deal where you get a cocktail with your meal. Tonight's island seafood stew was spicy & delicious, the rustic pizza was wonderful as well. We decided to try desserts, the pistachio ricotta cake was amazing, it's not sweet but just right. My son and new daughter in law had their wedding at Riverview yesterday. It was an intimate affair of 40 guests and it was perfection!! The ceremony on the patio was set up beautifully and the weather was gorgeous! We enjoyed wonderful food and drink throughout, starting with open bar ,charcuterie after the ceremony and a delicious buffet dinner! Adrian, Jenna and the entire staff were fantastic ! I grew up in Burlington, and went to this restaurant when it was still Cafe Gallery. My wedding is coming up in July and thought the Riverview would be a lovely place to have the Rehearsal Dinner. I submitted a request for the date through their online portal, providing the details of the event. I received a response at the end of April from the Event Manager stating the date was open and I would need to put down a deposit if to confirm the date. However, I was not provided with information as to how to make the deposit, how much it would be or timeline when this would need to be done by. I called several times throughout May, to inquire how we could set up a contract and did not receive a response. Since then, I called several times, and the hostess would take my information, but no one returned my call. I also emailed again and did not receive a response. I called again today and finally was put in touch with the Event Manager. The arrogance in which he spoke to me, you would have thought he was the manager of Le Cirque. He informed the date was booked and there was nothing he could do. I asked if there was anyway for the restaurant to accommodate me, as I was anticipating at least 40 guests. His response was rude and condescending, insinuating this was my fault. The lack of customer service and sympathy was shocking. After my repeated emails, messages and phone calls, a simple response of " We are sorry, but we have booked that date, but perhaps we can find another way to help you on this day" would be made all the difference. I am now left scrambling to find another restaurant to have the rehearsal dinner. Having worked in service industry myself for years, you have being willing to help people. Instead, I was informed the reason he did not respond to me sooner was because he was "on vacation, people do go on vacation, you know." He then went on to say me that "maybe you should go on vacation, sounds like you need one." Perhaps he should have arranged for someone else to handle event booking while he was away. When I informed him I would be posting this experience on Yelp, he stated get would get his lawyers involved. Threatening customers is probably not a wise choice. After this experience, I would suggest you look elsewhere to book an event. read more

Fiancé and I went last night for a date night dinner. We've been multiple times and usually enjoy it. Last night made a reservation for 6pm. Was told we still had to wait. Finally were seated at 6:25pm. Our drinks came out fairly promptly and the server was very nice. However after not receiving any food by 7:30, over an hour wait , we finally decided to just leave. Me and a friend came for Valentine's Day and sat at the bar. I've been here a few times the food never disappoints. The difference this time was the Mike the bartender, he said it was his first day and you would have never known, he gave amazing service and great conversation! I'll be back to see him soon. We came on a Tues night and the place was packed, probably due to their $15 special. This place is very noisy. Get a reservation. Since they built those overbearing, monster apartments in front of the place, the "river view" is minimal. In addition, these apartments took over the public parking lot behind the restaurant and made it private, for apt parking only. It was mostly empty. I had to park quite a ways away, behind the Union House, which was thankfully closed on Tues. Cars were parked everywhere with no signage indicating it was OK. I cannot imagine finding parking on a Sat night. The Burlington city politicians really screwed this one up. My choice of dinner was a pork belly pizza, I asked for to be extra crispy. It arrived soggy, limp as a dishrag, and covered with peppers and onions. The pork belly was tasteless, almost raw, with no seasoning whatsoever. Very disappointing. The mussels were awesome but we got only one stingy piece of bread to share. I requested more, but it never came. Also, they should replace the dimmer for the led spot lights along the window. They faded between low and medium and were very annoying throughout our dinner. They were aware of the problem Although it took over an hour for our food to arrive. Toni, our server was great. I really want to love Riverview but there are several reasons that I will not go back. 1. I have tried riverview several times, over the course of several months, at different times of days and it does not matter- the service is always always always slow. There are employees sitting around, laughing with the bartender, or doing nothing while there is 1-2 waitresses trying to cover the whole dining floor. Please hire more wait staff! 2. The way one employee spoke to others made us all feel uncomfortable. We could tell she was that employee who is always complaining and telling people what to do. No one wants to see this happening 3. The food is hit or miss. Some times it's soooo good. Others... not worth the price tag. A total shame for me. Please get your wait staff together and maybe I'll return. Riverview Restaurant & Bar is the successor to Café Gallery on the river end of High Street, Burlington, NJ. A lot of money and attention to detail went in to the makeover of the bar, although the dining rooms with the large windows facing the Delaware appear about the same. It remains a well appointed house designed for higher end dining and drinking in this historic river city. I stopped in for an early breakfast last weekend. Sitting at the bar, I appreciated the comfortable opulence of the thick dark stone bar top and the mirrored back bar holding a multitude of bottles of whiskey, tequila, brandy, and other libations. There was one other customer there waiting for a takeout order, and only a few tables occupied in the other room. 8:30 am was the perfect time to settle in and find out what the kitchen could do. The clipboard menu looked good, and I opted for their version of a croissant filled with sausage, egg and cheese, with the complementary side of home fried taters. Excellent strong java came first to further open my eyes to the coming day. Service came directly from management, with an assist from an English-accented young woman, both of whom were friendly and willing to provide information about the operation opened less than one year. The meal was very good - everything fresh and cooked just for me. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Special mention to the home fries, which were large chunks, well seasoned with taste and texture that had me devouring more than I should. The java seemed likewise freshly roasted, with a pleasant aftertaste that is often lost when the grounds age for a few days. I will return for a romantic dinner sometime soon, to see how everything holds up after dark. But, as far as breakfasts go, Riverview really knows what it is doing. read more

This place is decent. Came here for brunch a couple of weeks ago after church, but supposedly my family comes quite often, it was my first time though. Great location. Located on Main Street across from the river, hence Riverview. I don't know what they're going to do when the huge apartment complex gets built and blocks the view...anyway... The food was okay. Started with the cheeseboard. Lots of variety and very delicious. This was my favorite part of the meal. If you know me, you know I love a good cheeseboard and charcuterie. My main meal was the eggs benny which was just meh. It was nothing special and pretty bland. I was surprised because you can't really mess up eggs benny?! My 'meh' entree coupled with the subpar service is why I'm giving this spot 3 stars. Our waiter wasn't the most friendly guy in the world, which is okay if you get the job done. He did not. We were waiting around to get our order taken and then for our order to come and then for the check, etc. etc. --- you know the deal. Wow! Came here for an early Mother's Day lunch....could not be more pleased with the staff, the atmosphere, and the food. Food quality was excellent. I had the scallops over polenta, and others had chicken and waffles, house salad (with chicken) and an egg/sausage sandwich. Our waiter was Desmond. My wife and I decided to go out of our usual box last Friday. We found ourselves in the Riverview restaurant. What a pleasant surprise. We saddled up to the bar and was greeted by Natalie the barter who was full of personality. We both order Old Fashions. Great start an $8 Old fashion made with four roses bourbon. Can't beat that with a stick. We than ordered a couple of appetizers (grilled caesar salad and the tuna tartar). Both were delicious!!! I had the seafood over pasta for dinner. Made a reservation for 7 PM they completely forgot about us, even after we checked in several times, they didn't seat us until 8:43 PM. Hostess made up a story that she looked for us outside? Saw others coming in and being seated- so no clue what happened. When we first got there they told us the kitchen was backed up so they weren't seating new tables which was totally fine with us. Wasn't in a rush but this place needs to get it together. Everyone is super friendly but I think the hostess didn't know what she was doing. Food was good though.
