We really want to like this place. Glad we read the reviews after we ate. We did experience service issues. Our entrees came out before our apps. The manager and staff apologized and comped them. Our hostess never acknowledged us upon entry or departure but hey maybe she was having a bad day. Ok with that being said this is a wonderful space from the decor which is open and airy. The table settings along with the table and chairs makes you feel you are in for a great meal. The playlist was lively and upbeat playing tunes from Aretha to MJ. The Wife ordered Scallops w/cauliflower purée which see enjoyed. I had the Salmon w/balsamic reduction. It was pan seared to perfection. For sides I had Cajun corn which didn't taste Cajun and garlic mashed which needed garlic. We will not kill this place because the waitstaff was amazing and this area needs this restaurant. The prices seem a tad bit high but they are trying to appeal to a certain clientele. We are more than willing to give this another try and we suggest if you are in the area you should as well. Read the reviews online and decided to give this place a try. So glad we did bc the food was really good. We started our brunch with two blueberry scones. They were warm and fresh!! I ordered the chicken and waffle entree and my hubs had two eggs with potatoes and toast. My chicken and waffle entree was fantastic. The chicken was covered in a sweet thai chili sauce that was also drizzled over the waffles. Yummy! Hubs seemed to enjoy his entree. I can only speculate bc I couldn't hear his words over my mmms and ahhhs. We plan to return and try more menu items when the weather breaks. read more

The upstairs bar area is wonderful. Great atmosphere, comfortable, cozy a great place to relax and hang out with friends. I highly recommend the bartender Mario for an excellent custom made top notch cocktail made specifically to your liking and tastebuds. My favorite dinners are the filet or the porkchop. Breakfast/brunch is another favorite. The avocado toast topped with an egg is my favorite. Mascarpone cheese layered with rum-espresso soaked lady finger cookies. Each bite will have rich yet smooth cheese, a kick of coffee rum and dreamily soft, but not mushy, coffee-flavored ladyfingers. Didn't get a chance to try their lunch or dinner, but I wouldn't mind coming back. What won me over was the price, but what put me on the fence was lack of imagination with the menu. I've lived in Burlington for 7 years and had never eaten at this restaurant. Since I didn't feel like cooking and want to keep local businesses operating during the pandemic, I ordered food to pick up. It was ready when I got there and kept hot. When I got home, I found that they not only gave me my meal, which was melt in your mouth boneless spareribs, mashed potatoes and veggies, they also gave me a sample of their fresh ground coffee, which smells wonderful (can't wait to try that in the morning), they also gave me a bottle of hand sanitizer and gloves. Celebrated our anniversary with dinner on the patio at Riverview. They had all the proper safety measures in place. The food was delicious....rustic Italian is a very accurate description. I had the homemade squid ink pasta with shrimp and crab meat. Knowing I wanted dessert, I ordered the small size portion and it was perfect. My husband had the risotto with mushrooms and sausage. Both delicious! I had a glass (ummm...ok 2) of white sangria. We had a cheesecake stuffed cannoli which was the perfect end to a great meal. The staff and servers were outstanding. Went there for for the first time for Fathers Day brunch, group of 4. Was crowded enough, but something was going on in the kitchen. Took nearly 40 mins to get our entrees and the rest of the place seemed to be having a similar experience. At one point it appeared that no food hit the dining area for like 20 mins. Don't know if it was an off day because of a lot of large groups showing up but the grumpiness of the other tables waiting led to a general customer unhappiness in the room. Wait staff tried the best they could to get some drinks going and take $$ off peoples bills. But it appeared there was seriously a breakdown of some kind coming from the kitchen. We made the best of it by chatting with our group and once the food was served it was great. I'm hoping this is just a one time experience. Because the place looks nice and food is good. read more

I've lived in the area forever and I never tried this place but I often work out at the river front and was drawn to the restaurant because of the outside patio - we ate dinner outside and it was beautiful! The food was delicious- the pasta is handmade- the chef who makes the pasta is from Italy! The busers and wait staff are some of the nicest people you'll meet. They really appear to want you to have a nice time. Which is good because we needed it. I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare, my girlfriend the sea bass. The bass was dry and lacked flavor. The filet was medium when it arrived. My girlfriend finished her meal by the time I received my new one. I'll say when it finally arrived the filet was excellent. The cheese cake was nice and dense, but was dry and missing the essential bottom layer of graham cracker. After months of eating here I was told by one of the owners Phil to not come back??? Funny we never had a conversation about anything today with him. But, Desiree evidently expressed our private conversation to him and he went off on us...Not professional at all. Our history with them is breakfast once or twice a week, sometimes 2 people, other times 4-6 people. Never once did they get the order correct. Tuesday burger night we went in, could never get med rare, always cooked dead. Only time we complained was when my husband ordered onion rings and I went in to take one, picked a chunk and swallowed it. Turns out it was a chunk of fish?? I'm allergic to fish, 2 hrs later I threw it all up violently ...When my husband complained, Adrian came over and said the meals are comped, never saying we're so sorry...They claim to own other restaurants...I highly doubt they do, seeing how poorly this place is run. It had great potential, but comping a meal is done because a mistake was made, you don't keep track and then slam the customer because you have a problem running your restaurant...they obviously don't accept criticism and think they don't do anything wrong. From the things I've heard from friends...You have major problems...and it's not the customers... Read the reviews, you make reservations so you can eat on time...many people wait an extra 45 minutes to an hour... But for this morning our conversation was talk between friends and Desiree, who must have made a comment to Phil...who obviously blew things out of proportion...Too bad that these owners will take this place down in a year or less... We have gone to the Riverview 3 times to-date for their Tuesday special. The place is usually packed and I highly recommend making a reservation for Tuesday night. A couple of occasions the hostess appeared to be a bit overwhelmed so please be patient. All of the meals that we had were delicious and for $15 included one bar drink. We wanted to try this new restaurant because the location is great and, although the river is a bit of a distance away, it does indeed provide a river view. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. This was a surprise for a new restaurant and it being Father's Day, but I had no complaints about that. The décor was pleasant, the tables and chairs comfortable, and the large windows provided the namesake view. After a short wait our waitress took our drink orders. I ordered an iced tea which was good and not bitter as I have experienced at many other restaurants. My wife ordered an Amaretto sour, which our waitress had to come back and explain they could not make. That was a first! Shortly, we received a complementary dish of crostini's with thinly sliced cucumbers, crabmeat and a balsamic glaze drizzled on top. This was very tasty and a pleasant surprise. We ordered appetizers. My wife got the chicken wings which were cooked well, had a nice crunchy skin, a very tasty Asian style glaze and the perfect amount of heat. I ordered the couscous cakes which came crispy and had a robust, spicy dipping sauce which was a nice complement. For the children we ordered the mac & cheese with lobster. This was also delicious with a very different cheese sauce and succulent lobster pieces. I'm not sure how much the kids ate because the adults consumed most of it. For entrées I ordered the bone-in prime rib medium rare and this came perfectly cooked with nicely seasoned fingerling potatoes and asparagus. I had no complaints. My wife ordered the softshell crab sandwich which he did not care for and said was too salty. She did not eat it. We boxed in and took it home. I ate it for lunch the following day and thought it was a tad salty, I had no major criticisms. My son ordered the roasted half chicken which he ate one bite and said it was flavorless, overcooked and dry. I tasted it and had to agree. It was burned on the outside and dry on the inside. It was lacking flavor. The good news was our waitress removed this from our bill, apologized, and all was well with the world. For dessert we ordered the crème brûlée and a vanilla cream custard dessert topped with fruit. I asked for special consideration with the crème brûlée by requesting if it could be topped with strawberries and whipped cream. I was not disappointed! It came out beautifully garnished just as I asked and it was a very enjoyable, creamy and satisfying dessert. I know my son and his wife enjoyed their dessert as they both dug into it pretty quickly, delivered it a very short life expectancy. One complaint I had was there was a very long wait between receiving our appetizers and our main course. I didn't time it, but I would be shocked if it was less than 50 minutes between our appetizers and our main course. I hope they will work on this, because the place was not busy. My last complaint was that our waitress seemed to abandon us after she provided us our bill. After a pretty long wait with her completely absent I eventually got up and paid the bill at the bar. There were fast apologies from what appeared to be the owners. If these were the owners, they were very pleasant, talkative and friendly individuals. Our waitress also apologized and all was forgiven. She did a good job other than that oversight. Overall, for a new restaurant, I was happy and can overlook a few issues. I'm sure they will work out the bugs and I hope they do, I want to return regularly. read more

The reason for the 3 star review is I think it's in VERY poor taste that the heavy set manager (describing him so that IF anyone there reads it they will know who I am referring too, not shaming anyone) that day was chastising the staff in front of me and other customers. The "errors" were very minor (we could clearly hear what the complaints were) and he should have waited to do it. It made my wife and I and others uncomfortable making it hard to relax. I realize it's a new establishment and perhaps the kinks will work out over time, but overall, the setting, server, and food struck me as amateurish. We came for Mother's Day. The hostess, wearing what looked to be a floor length bridesmaids gown in satin, seated us, but perhaps she neglected to tell the server. We waited for 10-15 minutes before a female appeared apologizing, seemingly unaware that we'd been seated in her area. We ordered drinks and our meal. She brought out the drinks along with a teaspoon "for my soup." I had the shrimp snd grits which were cold, gluey, with little pools of cold maple syrup. My mom's chicken BLT was absolutely enormous, nearly unmanageable. The fries were good. They did a nice job on the old Cafe Gallery bar, but the art on the walls does the place a disservice. There's some outside seating on the brick patio. I'd say, weather allowing, get a burger, fries and a drink outside until the kitchen and the servers find their footing. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while now, I've seen posts circulate on the dinners here on Facebook. This past weekend I went for Sunday brunch and was not disappointed. I got their eggs Benedict and a latte. The hollandaise sauce was so yummy and rich I could not get enough of it. The potatoes served with your dish are the real show stealers though, they're super crispy and perfectly seasoned. The caramel latte I got was also fantastic, perfectly sweet but not overly so for someone that usually does not like any coffee based drink. I definitely want to come back for their avocado toast and to try a dinner or lunch from here. The interior is also exquisitely decorated. I'll just add to the previous review from 3/30 as I was part of the dinner group. I ordered the scallop and pork belly dish which came with sides of escarole and beans. I asked for a substitution of asparagus for the beans and was told no, the chef WILL NOT make a substitution nor would they add more escarole. The dish was $25 --I just can't imagine that three pieces of asparagus would make a difference in their bottom line. Don't we go to restaurants for a pleasant evening out and to have a meal that's satisfying? If I enjoy every food item listed in a dish but one small one (which isn't even the star of the show) and ask for a small change, that can't be accommodated? I've never experienced that before. Again, the food isn't the issue here -- it's the entire dining experience. Dining out is made up of many elements and Riverview shouldn't underestimate the customer service factor. My first time there, I ordered a vegetable wrap, but I was shocked at how bland it tasted. Luckily, my waitress could tell I wasn't happy, and she offered to bring me a goat cheese salad which she recommended. The tasty salad redeemed my experience. However, when the manager came over to check up on me, I told him what happened, yet he defended the vegetable wrap. The interior design of the restaurant is nice. My family originally went down to street to Curtin Marina but they had an hour wait so we ventured to this spot. Wonderful atmosphere. We asked to sit outside and we enjoyed the ambiance. The food on the other hand was mediocre. My husband had a crab cakes that was full of fillers and had a lemony taste instead of seafood. I believe in al dente pasta but my spaghetti was a bit harder than that and not really tasty. The best part of our meal was the alcoholic drinks. I won't rush to return. read more

Definitely an area gem. Our first time there since it was converted from Cafe Gallery. Food, service, atmosphere and location were excellent. The lower rating is because the management of the restaurant was questionable on our visit. We arrived at 2:10 PM and brunch ended at 3:00 PM. We we given the Sunday limited lunch/dinner menu. After reluctantly ordering of that menu we notice the table next to us was served from a brunch menu. When we asked our Server she said "oh she did not give you the Brunch Menu, Brunch ends at 2:00 PM." That's when we noticed other tables were being served brunch items. I looked online and confirmed that Brunch ended at 3:00 PM. Asked again and she said she'd check. The Hostess reluctantly came over to our table and said that she ended brunch early since they had run out of many items. We said we drove from PA almost an hour away expecting. After more back and forth she very reluctantly agreed to let us order off of the brunch menu. Our Server was wonderful the whole time and she came and apologized many times about everything. The Hostess never apologized once and she tried to make us feel that we were being unreasonable by wanting what the restaurant advertised. Our meal was superb! They just opened last weekend as a soft launch. I wasn't sure what to expect but every dish I tried was spot on. Full of flavor and cooked to perfection. This is truly fine dining. The manager came over a few times to see how we were enjoying the meal. The wait staff was very attentive as well. They have a beautiful location. The restaurant is so nice inside and the view of the river is amazing. I can't wait to come here during the warmer months. Came here for my birthday. It happened to coincide with Burlington's Parade of Lights Festival. Luckily, we had reservations. They had a special menu due to the festival. It didn't have a ton of options but that was ok. I had the ribs, which were good. Kind of a sweet barbecue sauce. I was surprised that so fancy of a place would serve ribs, but they were good. Loved their mashed potatoes though! When making the reservation, it informed that we could only stay for 1 1/2 hrs. I found it strange that they put a time limit on it when they had plenty of tables in the downstairs area available. I understand COVID has a major effect on the availability and quality of restaurants but somethings aren't COVID related.. our reservation was at three, we arrived on time 306 to be exact, but apparently the staff didn't get that memo. We sat for more than five minutes, The only customers there as they open at three. I finally got up and walked across the grass and courtyard to ask a hostess to please get our waiter.. A few minutes later he showed up apologetically and took our drink order, A Cosmo and a margarita, two of the most popular drinks at any bar, they were not good. I did appreciate the bartender coming out to apologize and defend his bartending skills, but when I asked what drinks he had on tap he didn't know?? LOL... The second round of drinks were slightly better my dining partner mixed his his own out of the two to create a semidrinkable drink, I however drink a beer that I knew they would have as I wasn't Offered a selection....We ordered three appetizers the calamari, The garlic Parm wings, and the eggplant tapenade. I only ate the calamari which I added a little salt to... the food was very unmemorable... The atmosphere was nice except for the construction sounds... This was our first time here and, honestly, we only tried it because the place we planned to eat at had a very long week. It was very good. the food, staff, service all were above average. The food was really above average. We tried the ribs, salmon, burger, stromboli, caprese salad, buffalo cauliflower and a few other things. Both those who had the salmon said it was the best they had ever had. The mozzarella cheese for the salad was better than some I had in Italy and I would go back just for the buffalo cauliflower. The second star is for the nice layout of the restaurant. The lack of the other three stars is because of the less than mediocre food. The sausage and bacon were not of a decent quality. They were the same quality I would have expected at a Denny's or IHOP, not a beautiful restaurant overlooking the river. The eggs were the worst part. The scrambled eggs were dry and over cooked. Looked like eggs that were poached in a bag that are served at continental breakfasts in cheap hotels. It's also clear they didn't even attempt to put a bit of salt in them. The omelets were burnt and dry. The canapés lacked any intriguing creativity or quality products. The coffee was excellent but the rest of the meal would only be acceptable to people that frequent cheap motels. Burlington deserves better than this place. read more

Have been a patron several times and of late, left as though the establishment was faltering. I have changed my mind after tonight. Our server, Kevin, is exceptional. Today was tough and I was exhausted from making decisions. Kevin introduced himself and asked us if we had any questions. I asked Kevin for beer recommendations and he immediately asked me what I didn't like in a beer. Always, I have been asked what i prefer. I liked his style and told him to pick my beer. His choice was spot on so I asked him what to order and again, asked me what I don't like and proceeded to pick an awesome dish I never would have chosen. The beer as ice cold and the food was very fresh and very well presented and hot! Kevin is an asset to the Riverviews' mission of being different and sustainable. His smile was genuine.
