So this review comes as a COMPETE surprise because in all of our visits to the Union House since moving to the area late last year have been nothing short of spectacular... so good to the point where we would take our friends and family visiting from out of town there ... but last night was the epitome of the WORST SERVICE we've ever had there and in general. I am not sure if Management has changed but whatever it was / is needs to be addressed immediately for the sake of not losing customers. Asking to be seated at a different table other than the one we were initially seated at (bc it was right by the door and the wind coming in was freezing) was the first red flag because the hostess seemed bewildered and bothered that we wanted a new table despite there being 50-11 other open tables throughout the joint. It literally then took 15 minutes before our server greeted us and it just kept rolling downhill at a faster and faster rate by the minute. Appetizers done before our cocktails arrived, cocktails done before we could order our entrees, entrees arrived missing key components and it took a good 10 minutes before we could get our server and the minute she walks over she says oh you need the ABC ... ma'am! If you KNEW what we needed why didn't you immediately address it without us having to flag you down???!!!??? And the reason it took 10 minutes to flag her down was because the rest of the floor staff was running around like chickens with their heads cut off ignoring diners trying to get their attention. Oh and the best part was that there was this "figure of management" present ... and I say "figure of management" because he was also ignoring diners and not checking in with them like a restaurant manager typically does ... he was only going to the empty tables cleaning them, slowly adding place settings, rearranging the empty tables ... trying to look busy!!!!! It was honestly comical at one point. We asked for boxes for our food because we still never received all of what was missing despite our server acknowledging it was missing and stating she would bring it back. We literally never ever received it smh . My BF told her this was the worst service we've ever had and it probably didn't even phase her because her attitude overall was just sucky from the beginning. If this is all because of new management they need to go on and get new new management before this place's reputation is ruined. read more

Unfortunately we were not pleased with our first experience at The Union House. My son and I wanted oysters and looked up some places and decided on them since they had both raw oysters and clams and also some pub food. We got there and were seated right away. We were given a raw bar menu when we went to go order from it we were told the raw bar is closed. Considering that's what we went for we were pretty bummed. So we ordered a pepperoni flat bread, nachos with pulled pork, calamari, shrimp tacos, and garlic parm wings. I liked the pineapple slaw in the shrimp tacos and my husband liked the ingredients and calamari but my son and I did not enjoy our food or our service. The waiter was a little inquisitive when we didn't want anything to go. $93 for some crappy pub food. read more

My husband and I went to the Union House for an early dinner / late lunch Sunday 8/16. We were treated terribly by the hostess. Apparently we offended her by waiting for a table in the bar area to be cleared. It went downhill from there. The food was mediocre, at best, and the service was worse. They won't have to be concerned with us again. read more

Well, that was $45 and an hour and a half of my life I can't get back. The Union House was beyond disappointing. We should have known by the empty parking lot at lunchtime on a weekend. My salads "vinaigrette" was oily and bland - the biscuits were dry and tasteless and the pulled pork sandwich was soggy, sparsely sauced and flavorless. Our server was... well, we had one. She was there mostly for the socialization rather than serving. All around Union House was disappointing. I'm being generous with the 2 stars. We would not recommend and will not return. read more

I love Union House. Downtown Burlington has cute vibes, but unfortunately not a lot of nice dine in restaurants. UH is casual, but well kept & apparently I love oysters now, because I get them every time. Had a couple other smaller menu items, all delicious. Bees Knees is my current go to cocktail. Service is always great & fairly speedy. We're new to the area so we're gonna check out trivia night next month. read more

BURLINGTON: The Union House is a block off the main strip of the downtown area and is a great find if you are looking for outdoor dining with your pup! The very spacious patio allows leashed and friendly dogs to join you for lunch and dinner and offers a large menu to please any palette. We stopped in for a drink and enjoyed a warm fall day under the covered outdoor bar. It can get a bit hot on the patio depending on the sun angle, so make sure your pup is comfortable. read more

Service/Ambiance : indoor and outdoor seating available. Has a southern vibe in doors with the decor. Great customer service from Gabrielle who also make great recommendations. The kitchen does allow you to make substitutions which was great. We have gone to Union House multiple times since it first opened and have never had a bad experience until last night. For an appetizer, we ordered the loaded tots with no sour cream on them as an appetizer (we have always got them this way due to a severe food allergy and have never had a problem). When we received them, they had sour cream on them, and our server immediately apologized. Then, the manager came back over with the plate with a rude attitude and tone because we sent the food back and said "well, it always comes this way". He and the kitchen seemed to have no respect towards someone with a food allergy. We also ordered burgers for our entrees (we told them medium well for all of them), and they were all overcooked, with no cheese on them. The only good part of the night was our server, Christina, who showed lots of sympathy and concern for someone with a severe food allergy, and gave us great service the entire night. We even checked our ticket when we were paying, and it even said the corrections we gave and the fact that a guest had a food allergy. Safe to say that we won't be coming back anytime soon due to the rude management and kitchen, mediocre food with mistakes, and expressing zero sympathy towards food allergies. read more

Went for a late winter Sunday brunch date with reservations. Warmly welcomed and no wait to be seated. Great casual but trendy vibe inside. Atmosphere was cool and bustling but not overwhelming. Sat in a booth by the bar. Service was great. We both enjoyed a cider sangria off the sesonal cocktail menu. It was so good we ordered another round. Shared the cheese board, chicken and waffles. All were delish. Probably wouldn't get the cheese board again unless we had more people with us. Huge portions for just a couple but still loved all of it. Also played the ring toss bar game a bit between our drinks. Had fun interacting with folks sat at the bar. Overall we had a great time and will definitely be back for date night or with a group. We had a delicious lunch at The Union House! The staff was friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt comfortable and had a good experience. Their menu is very diverse, so there is definitely something for everyone here. We got the bean burger and the mushroom sandwich. Both were really good! I personally preferred the mushroom sandwich, which was comprised of fried oyster mushrooms (some of my favorite!), but both were perfect vegetarian sandwiches. We came back later at night to get their spinach and artichoke dip as a snack. While we enjoyed this, it did not live up to the two sandwiches. read more

Union House delivered! Great service and delicious food are what you can expect. Union House offers a wide variety of beer and drink options. We visited during restaurant week in Burlington County. A three course meal was available for a reasonable $36 pp. You get an appetizer, entree and desert for the special price. I opted not to order the specials but I did order one of the entree options: Smoked meatloaf. Served over garlic mash a long side string beans this entree offered plenty to eat! The only setback for the Union House is that the atmosphere is casual tavern, with that said given the high ceiling and table layout, the restaurant can get a bit noisy. This is a minor distraction and not a deterent. I will be back! read more

I like the two separate areas, one side is more of a bar with live music, and the other side is more restaurant like but still has a full bar. The pumpkin espresso martini was VERY good. The pork belly lettuce wraps were good. I feel like it could have had a little more pork, but the taste was decent enough. The Brussels sprouts were very good. My friend got the tuna, this is the second time she's ordered it and she loved it. Service was good too. read more

Great place near the river tucked back on one of the side streets. We came for happy hour drinks and apps. Food was on point and priced right for happy hour. The main bar in the dining room was huge, but they also have a separate room and a whole other bar area. Beer selection was solid. Staff and barkeeps checked on us plenty of times to make sure we had drinks and food. A+ in my book. There's live music quite frequent. Jazz, Rock, and plenty of variety on their schedule - possibly standing room only as the night ticks on. There's a lot in the back for parking, so that helps. read more

My wife and myself visited Union house on a Saturday evening. We had the ribs appetizer and it was delicious. I could have a 100 of them. We also had the pulled pork flatbread and it had tons of meat and the bbq sauce was great!! We also had the shrimp tacos and they were great!! The brownie Sundae was delicious. Our waitress Jessica was super helpful and had a great attitude. She was perfect. The ambiance was cool. There were plenty of seating and the music was at the perfect level. My friend mentioned this restaurant to me and said she read that they are a good place to go for happy hour. So we decided to go that Friday for happy hour. It was the Friday of Labor Day weekend. We sat at the bar inside although they do have an outdoor bar as well. I love that they have a happy hour menu. So many places have gotten rid of happy hour and specials so it was a treat! I tried the iced tea mule and a jalapeño margarita. We ordered the tots and Brussel sprouts and cauliflower burger. All of the food was good although the cauliflower burger was a huge piece of cauliflower so biting into it for me wasn't happening. I just used a knife and fork and eat it that way, without the bun. We hung out here with some friends not too long ago. Maybe expectations were too high but it was just ok. Hostess and servers were nice. Service was just REALLY slow. We had a wonderful time having dinner at The Union House on a Saturday evening with a party of 7 (4 adults and 3 little kids). A cute, casual vibe on the historic part of the town. They had a wonderful menu (adults and kids) with vegan and gluten free options labeled and an amazing selection of drinks. However, the wines at the happy hour are outrageous in price unless you drink the Pinot Grigio. All wines are outrageous and priced as if it's not Burlington New Jersey. The chairs were all unique old vintage chairs... kinda funny looking. It's the kind you would see at a grandparents home that's a little broken but still can sit on haha. Food and Drinks The menu had lots of options as far as brunch items and lunch items. Beers on tap and also bottle/can options, along with their specialty cocktails. Drinks were fine and actually if you want a drink, I recommend actually going for one of their cocktails because they were definitely spot on! Not skimpy on the alcohol is what I mean. Their food on the other hand, not that great. Their wings were not flavored at all. Got the sweet chili flavored, which they just put on the side and was reminiscent of a bottle of sweet chili sauce that was just poured out and you dipped your wings in that. Wings itself was not even seasoned with any salt. My fish n chips, granted maybe they are just not the top item on their menu, but my fish was bland, no seasoning at all. Went there to meet up with some friends on a Friday evening. The ambiance was okay, and the drink selection was good. That's where the good part ends. I ordered the Fish and Chips, and my spouse ordered the Tuna. The food was not even what I would call mediocre. The fish had no flavor, and almost no seasoning. They have a nice selection of beers on tap to choose from as well as great cocktail selections. The happy hour wines & house wines are also decent for the price. We've been checking out the brunch menu at this place for a while and finally decided to check it out, always being on the hunt for a good place to have brunch with a few cocktails. I'm disappointed that we decided to forsake our usual spot for this place today. It was pretty disappointing, all in all. The Bloody Mary was really good. Props on the beer selection as well. That's where the second star came from but that's where it stopped. The service was aloof and inattentive. While our server wasn't out-and-out rude, they weren't exactly diligent. The place was maybe 10% full (should have been our first hint at brunch on Sunday, but I digress), but we only saw our server when plates or glasses were empty for a fairly significant amount of time given what I would expect. The servers kind of congregate in a group in the back of the restaurant, obviously having a good time. We were happy to see them all enjoying themselves, but those of us at the tables were left to our own devices for the most part. The food was generally disappointing. Kind of sloppy, ingredients that were obviously pre-frozen because a few things on my wife's plate were literally still partially frozen, one dish that had to be sent back because it was unrecognizable as any reasonable person would expect the dish to be served as. It's a cool looking place with a ton of potential. Seriously, you could do a lot with this building. Some employee training on the service side and kitchen would do wonders. This is the first time going there since it open. They had just released a new menu the day before I believe. Was very busy for Friday night. Good thing we made a reservation. However, not the biggest fan of where we sat. We sat at this random table that was just seem to be placed right by the entrance outside of where the hostess desk is. Our server was very pleasant and very attentive. They have a very good beer list. Both tap and bottles. Ended up getting the monkfish and the fish and chips. The monkfish was excellent. I really enjoyed the mango salsa. Might have been a little heavy on the cilantro. But I like cilantro so that was okay. Fish and chips were big and not greasy at all. Very very good. I've eaten here dozens of times with my family but had a very poor experience on Mother's Day 2025. We had a 10:30 AM reservation and arrived on time. Our appetizers came out fairly quickly, but even though it wasn't very crowded in the restaurant at the time, our meals took an hour to come out. No one told us what was going on and service was just extremely slow. I started to complain to the manager, but because it was Mother's Day, and I was there with my sister who is a mother as well as my niece who is a mother, I didn't want to make a big deal about it at the time, but when I got home, I started thinking about it and realized it was a very poor dining experience. And my meal wasn't that great. The eggs were a little overcooked and there were just two slices of bacon and the small salad that came with It was OK. The coconut espresso martini was one highlight. It was very good. All in all it was just a very disappointing day and there were five of us dining so we spent a decent amount of money. I won't be going back here for a while. read more
