In response to your response to my original poor review of you, you still haven't taken responsibility for your actions. You might remember that our first contact was over the phone and I told you I had had good experiences with the Activator method, and activator practioners. You told me that you would use that for me. That was a lie. When you told AHS that "we talked about it and the patient gave me permission to work on his low back." That was another lie. When you say to me, I'm sorry you had a poor experience at my office, you're not sorry at all, are you? In retrospect it appears to me you purposely decided ahead of time to 'put a hurt on me'. It may have been a spur of the moment thing for you, but you wanted to hurt me, didn't you? And then you lied. You'll be old one day, and I hope you can look back and think about every single thing you did wrong in your life. I still suffer from your actions. read more

This is one of the most well run professional medical establishments in the Bay Area. I discovered this place after possibly getting a muscle strain while playing football on Thanksgiving 2019. I landed on my back playing cornerback quite a few times after a fun turkey bowl flag football game at Pinole Valley High School with some high school and college athletes. After experiencing so much discomfort 7 to 8 out of 10 on the pain scale. I work remotely teaching preschool during the day so I am sitting from 10-12pm daily Monday to Friday. After doing this over the last 6 months my back steadily worsened. Out of desperation I took up the offer to visit though I was anxiety ridden from previous horror stories about chiropractic visits from people. I was told about it and heard good things about the Doctor. I arrived promptly last Friday and was received by a very friendly and engaging lady who explained the documents she handed me and offered me a seat to fill out some first time visit paperwork. After I was given a clean tablet to answer a few questions about complaints and family medical history I was escorted to a waiting room to wait for Dr. Rixen to arrive. I felt very comfortable with my surroundings. Everything was neat and organized and there was plenty of ventilation. There was access to sanitizer in each and every room with the entire staff and patrons using masks following proper covid -19 CDC Protocols. The Doctor I noticed was in a room with the door opened the entire time quarantine style and never came in contact with his front desk while I was there. She was in the lobby alone as well with plenty of space and room. The facility was well lit and the ground was very clean as well. Dr. Rexin was very friendly and walked up and introduced himself. He entered a profile on his tablet attached to the wall. He explained he was going to point to several areas from top to bottom of my back. He was then going attempt to figure out the problem with my back then explained step by step his entire procedure cracking my back which put me at ease. He proceeded to lay me on my side on a comfortable padded table and put his leg behind my right knee and guided my hand across my body and hovered over and crack my back. All while he was protected with a mask and I did as well. I heard a loud pop and crack which at first startled me but I literally felt a rush of relief feeling really good. He attempted to turn me over the way and repeat the process. Then he sat me up on the table and went behind me and hugged and cracked, realigning me. My back had never felt better. He then escorted me to the area that I was able to lay on so he could start a padded and curved table that rolled along my back for 25 minutes checking on me several times but primarily staying socially distant in his office room next door. It was amazing. I call him Merlin the Wizard now and owe him a debt for the relief he provided me. I was able to go play with my son later on in the evening at the park and though I laid on a blanket most of the time, I tossed a few balls to my son while there. At night I noticed no pain at all and later that day took my family to Crissy Fields Beach in San Francisco and walked around with no pain or discomfort. He had told me to ice my back when I arrived home and take a pain pill . I iced it continuously through the first night but I'm reporting no pain or discomfort at all. I want to once again thank the staff and Dr. Rexin for his wonderful service and making it such a great first experience at a chiropractor for me. He made a fan and believer out of me. I have been seeing Dr. Rixen for over 2 years now, on and off. I initially started seeing him due to hip and back pain during my third trimester of pregnancy. I thought the aches and pains were just something you were just going to deal with while pregnant, but I was so wrong. He helped immensely, and I was comfortable through my delivery date due to weekly adjustments. I continued to see him after my c-section, and he helped with upper back and neck issues due to positioning while nursing my newborn. He makes sure to not only help with issues you're coming in to address, but also gives advice for how to prevent them from popping up in the first place (posture, etc). I'm pregnant again and have none of the same hip issues as before, just some back aches here and there from caring for my now toddler during my pregnancy. And as usual, his adjustments are comfortable (not done on my belly), and I feel way better after having seen him. He's kind and knowledgeable, and his services are affordable and consistent. I've gone to chiropractors off and on throughout my adulthood. As an athlete, I'm a firm believer in the health benefits of chiropractic care in improving spinal and joint function. However, I hadn't been to see one since moving to the Bay Area almost a decade ago. Recently, I hiked the John Muir Trail (221 miles) with a 30 lb backpack. After completing the trip, I had profound numbness in both my big toes. Apparently this is commonly known as "hiker's toe" and is caused by spinal compression of the L5 vertebra. The X-rays confirmed this and I asked my local friends for a recommendation. Someone I trusted spoke highly of Dr. Rixen so I began to see him 3x/week. Dr. Rixen is clearly a very skilled, empathic, knowledgeable, and overall good person.His sense of humor and warm personality are pleasant to be around, and all the patients in his busy practice seem to like him. I'm still experiencing some numbness in my toes, but feel that overall, the adjustments are beneficial and I'm reducing the compression of the L5. Dr. Rixen is very good and friendly. Always explains things well and understand my needs. He allows my daughter to come in with me when she was just a baby. However the reason I give it a three star is because of the receptionist. For all the times I've been coming here, she never once said hello or initiate any friendly smile to me or anyone of us. I wasn't familiar with the copay policy at this place and was always wondering how I was never asked to pay my copay. And apparently it accumulated and I got a bill, and again, the receptionist never talked to me or explained anything to me. The problem for me was when I went back to see him many years later, there was a problem getting AAA to pay for my rear ending by another AAA carrier. I Initiated a Call to Dr. Rixen to see if he'd been paid, and he had not. He promised to charge me as an individual 1100 but instead Without Warning charged me a Much Higher Insurance Rate 3500+ plus accrued monthly interest and reported me to all three credit bureaus. Is this ethical? But he was so very sorry... and told me to call the creditors and ask them to cancel. That was I guess bullshit as they laughed at the suggestion of my paying 1100. None of this is okay in my book! One bogus medical item ruining my credit. I contacted him out of concern and tried to help him get paid and was a loyal customer for 20 years. Without a word he repays me by ruining my credit! Again, I initiated the call, trying to help. He knew AAA was in the wrong and did not care a whit. No thanks! Plus his new receptionist is rude, feels she has license to act that way. His relatives and Lorraine were gems back in the day. I have recently returned to the office due to the after-effects of a bad fall, and because of arthritis pain and wanting to avoid or delay hip replacement surgery. Dr. Dan REALLY LISTENS, tailors the treatments to the particular patient, and does it all in good nature and friendliness. The entire office is friendly and has a welcoming feeling. Although I wish to live closer I continue to go for treatments because I know I benefit. After a treatment, I come home and lie down to allow things to "settle" in my body. Not sure why my review was deleted...Came here a few years ago and the first thing I noticed was they over book on appointments. He was literally treating 4 patients at the same time which was unbelievable. My consultation was literally 2 minutes and after an adjustmentment he wanted me to be treated at a machine for about 10 minutes. I think he forgot me there as he didn't notice me again for 20 or so minutes and began treating other clients. More clients = more $$$... I have been experiencing a constant mild to severe mid back pain. I didn't think much of it and thought that I could just sleep it off. Dan has kept me on my feet. I'm 62, sports official, and he's carried me financially when I'm unemployed, and unable to pay him. He's been a guru on working out as you get older. He works high school football games as a trainer, for free. I've been to a number of Chiropractors, and Dan is the best i've ever been too. That covers from 1970 until now. People often don't want to work, and the best way to do that is claim an injury, and that your incapable of working, even if you are. Dr. Rixen is the first (and only) chiropractor that I have received care from and he really gets the job done! I've seen Dr. Rixen for over a year and he has helped manage my issues associated with carpal tunnel. Prior to seeing Dr. Rixen I worked with a physical therapist (PT) to help ease the pain associated with carpal tunnel. While the PT was very helpful, my time with her had run out and it was time for me to move on. During my sessions with the PT I realized that my issues with carpal tunnel stemmed from my neck, back and shoulder. After discussing future steps for care, I realized that chiropractic care may help. After a few visits with Dr. Rixen he really helped reduce the pain and get my problem under control.
