I completely lost track of time on my most recent rental and showed up 20 minutes past closing. They still took me no problems and I was on my way to the track 10 minutes later. I had to do an in-town move a few days ago to a new apartment. Went through U-Haul's website and saw this place as a partner-site for U-Haul. The place is pretty easy to find and they have night/after-hours drop off. The staff on site were really pleasant and explained how to do the after-hours drop off if needed. The truck worked well, only complaint you could ever really make about it is the gas efficiency. But hey, it's a truck. What do you expect? I give it 5 stars because they made it really easy for someone with little moving experience and the trucks were an easy drive. I had recently came back from Guatemala, long trip, rented a U-Haul truck. The guy Matthew literally told me upon renting the truck, "if you don't return the truck, we will report you, and you will be arrested." Who the hell tells customers that? Right away I knew this guy has serious anger issues, probably dangerous. When I returned, I was hoping I could get some form of discount since we didn't need the truck after all. Either way, the money wasn't an issue. I did blur out the "f" word as in f'ing within our conversation. Even though it wasn't appropriate, he literally used it to say that I was cursing at him. With a loud voice "HOW DARE YOU CURSE AT ME! Who do you think you are! Get out of this property or I'm calling the police!" Literally in my face and pretty sure there's cameras everywhere that will testify of this super aggressive behavior versus my non-hostile posture and amazement of what I was witnessing. The following day, I find out that he put a cautionary alert on my profile which means I look bad with other U-Haul comments. I called the manager of the store and he said he would take care of it and apologized. I was relieved, almost like he knew very well matthews temperament. Anyhow, I soon find out that the district manager denied the approval to remove the cautionary alert, deeming me a bad customer. I had the best intentions coming to this spot, the name "RJM" literally has my initials on it. I had nothing but great expectations and tingles inside. I had reserved a 16' truck in advance for my move and upon arrival they had no truck. I had pre- paid and checked in on line and they said there was a glitch in the system. Didn't have any other trucks available and wanted me to wait 1 1/2 hours. Still waiting for my refund. Won't use U haul again or this location ever! Called customer service to get my refund sooner than 5 days and had to wait on line for over an hour. Horrible customer service! read more

I rented your truck on Friday, December 14th to transport donations from Mission Viejo to Camp Pendleton for my non-profit organization, Operation Help A Hero. I had spent hours loading 50 families donations into the truck and had left at 3:30pm from RSM to drop off these gifts to Camp Pendleton when the truck would not longer accelerate and the service light came on. I quickly pulled to the side of the road on Antonio Pkwy between Oso and Crown Valley Pkwy. The truck continued to sputter, almost like it was out of gas? When I picked up the truck I was told their was a quarter tank of gas and the gas gage showed the truck to have a quarter tank so I thought this could not be. I turned the truck off and restarted the engine. It turned over but continued to sputter. I did this four more times then turned the truck off and called the Uhaul roadside assistance. I received a text message saying that it would take 90 minutes which instantly worried me because I knew this meant I would be sitting in this truck for the next three to four hours with thousands and thousands of dollars worth of donations for military families that were expecting their gifts that evening. I have a volunteer pass to get into Camp Pendleton but after 8pm the gate closes to all visitors regardless of what pass you may have. My organization, Operation Help A Hero, adopts over 300 Marine Families throughout our country, 200 of which come from Camp Pendleton. These families have been nominated by their Battalion Chaplin because they are currently going through a financial crisis. 100% of all donations go directly to the Marines and their families we serve as Operation Help A Hero incurs all over-head costs. This is why I rented the UHaul personally - as a donation to this amazing cause. All 200 families were coming to pick up their donations and I needed to somehow get the 50 family donations I had so I called Uhaul back. I was on the phone for over a half an hour before I was able to get someone one on the phone that said they could tow the truck to Camp Pendleton for me and get me a new truck by the morning as I was driving another 24 families donations, in this truck, to 29 Palms. Thankfully my husband just landed into LAX, after being gone on a long business trip, and was on his way to me. He got to me when I was talking to a women who was asking me more questions about what happened and the truck. She suggested that the truck might have a faulty gas gauge and to go to the gas station with my husband and come back with gas to see if that could possibly be it as this would save hours of my very valuable time. My husband tried to start the truck and it started without puttering so he drove it to the gas station and we filled it up thinking that was the problem. We were so thankful as our only goal at this time was getting this gifts to these very deserving families. We drove to Camp Pendleton and were able to get all the presents to the families and load 23 additional families donations to be delivered to 29 Palms. Driving this truck was a night mare for both myself and my husband. It feels dangerous and we never felt safe driving in it. We made it to 29 Palms and dropped off all of their donations on Saturday, December 15th. On the way home the truck did the exact same thing that it did when I was driving it the day before. It began to sputter and the check engine light came on. We quickly pulled over to the side of the freeway and I just wanted to cry. We knew it was not the gas gauge at this point because we had just filled the tank with gas and the gas gauge read FULL. My husband and I were beyond exhausted. Not only spending thousands of hours and money on helping to make this outreach possible but also driving this piece of shit truck for hours. My husband turned the engine off, let it sit for about 10 minutes and then tried to restart it. It restart and we immediately went on our way praying the entire time that this truck would just get us home safely. We both knew if we called road side assistance we would be sitting on the side of the freeway for hours. After another hour the truck did the same thing. We once again pulled to the side of the road. Waited 10 minutes, restarted and we were on our way. This happened two more times before we thankfully dropped the truck back off on Saturday evening. It took us four and a half hours to get home from 29 Palms. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not rent this truck to anyone else ever again or please do not do as at least until it has gone through major maintenance. It is very very disappointed that you would rent a truck in that type of condition to anyone. Not only is it not safe but it is beyond an inconvenience. Sent you an e-mail and haven't heard back.
