This is my first time ever writing a complaint about how a business did me wrong but due to such an egregious act I need to warn others so you don't become a victim too. I was quoted $2350 over the phone by Tim, the owner who said he has been doing this for 20 years and could move our 4000 square foot house in one day with one 26' truck and one trip to the new house 20 miles away. I ended up paying $5500 well more than double what was quoted. The first day they worked until 10pm and after 3 truck loads finished the next day at 6pm. The conversations with Tim after getting gouged he said we had more boxes and stuff than he expected. He never came out to give a bid, he never said when he came the first morning that this would take two days and a lot more would be charged. He admitted after that he should have brought two trucks and should have looked at the job before bidding. We gave his workers pizzas for lunch which we were charged for their time not working even though he said he doesn't do that but he was too lazy to look at our bill. We were ok paying a little bit more than what was quoted because "things happen" but not $3150 more! I have learned since that is not uncommon for Tim to bid low to get the job. TLDR; movers were alright with some carelessness, but I got sprung a surprise $300+ fee that no one told me about and got ghosted when I asked why this wasn't told to me earlier. I have the text messages and contract still as proof. Long version: Unfortunately, what started out as an okay experience quickly took a weird turn. When I had reached out to the moving company, I was helped by Tim via text who was communicative and laid out the fees and services they offered. I was told there would be a one time fee for them to come out plus an hourly rate. At no point was it communicated to me that there would be a "travel back" fee of 2 hours. This comes in later. So I scheduled the appointment. The movers arrive on time and are nice enough. Everything made it to my new place however my bed, which was an IKEA bed, did not survive the move. The wood was broken (maybe it was already broken? But no one said anything until they tried to re-assemble it...) and while I get that IKEA furniture isn't the best, the movers who assembled and disassembled my furniture forgot parts at my old place and my husband had to bring them to our new home. The movers assembled my bed at the new home, and while I want to believe they did their best, the frame wasn't secured and totally fell apart due to missing screws. Accidents happen. Fine, I'll get a new bed frame. There was also an incident with one of the movers using my bathroom without mentioning it to me and not really cleaning up, but I won't go into that further. It's something that just made me feel weird and like they didn't care about my space due to how they left my toilet. So the move took an hour and a half longer than I originally planned. My husband and I were happy to pay the difference but then it was sprung on me that they were going to charge us for the one time fee, hourly fee, and drive back fee. When I asked about the drive back fee I was told "our manager charges it," and I thought it was weird that it wasn't conveyed to me by the person I was in contact with. I'm not going to argue with the movers about the payment since they're just doing their jobs, so we go ahead and pay it and I contact Tim about the drive back fee. I'm told he will "look into it". That was three business days ago and no response. Not even when I texted him asking for a follow up. The drive back fee was $300+ dollars on top of the over $1k we paid in hourly rates and the one time $200+ fee to "drive out there". Needless to say, my experience was subpar and it quickly soured. I was blindsided by a surprise charge that no one communicated to me, and ghosted me for. So if you're planning on using these guys, be cautious. read more

The movers were professional and kind.. however I think we could have really benefited off having more than just 2 guys on the job. I could see they were doing their best but after the final total due was given for time and mileage etc.. this moving company ended up being more expensive than any other quote we got- 100s more. It took forever for just 2 guys and you have to pay per hour so I ended up helping them to make it more efficient. So I was a little bummed by that. The lady who schedules and spoke to us on the phone really struggles with direction and planning and it was really stressful. I do know she may be trying her best but everything seemed overwhelming for her. It was frustrating for me. Clean, respectful, professional, and treated my items with care- why I give 4 stars because that was super important to me. Our move to an entirely different city was a breeze thanks to their professionalism, organization skills, Tetris skills, communication skills, and undeniable teamwork! Setting up an appointment with them was a breeze, they showed up on time and kept me updated up until moving day. I scheduled with Tim a week or two in advance and had Chris and Tony show up at my house this morning. They were patient, kind, hard working, and did a great job making sure everything I owned made it down my two narrow flights of stairs and into a second floor storage unit for the next year. $125 base fee. $135 an hour. I had a 72x36 fridge that needed to be moved From Placentia to Santa Ana. About a 15-20 minute drive, less than 10 miles away. I ended up paying $327. Cash/venmo no fee, CC additional fee. I had called and messaged a bunch of places. I chose Oc Mini Mover's mainly because it didn't have a minimum hourly amount, it didn't have any incriminating reviews, and they were able to get me in soonest. I talked to Tim over yelp message and then called him. He said this type of job should take about an hour. We agreed to meet at 11am. The day of Tim texted me when at 10:50am 10-15 minutes away. He called me at 11:02am saying that he was at the back of my complex. I told him we were in the front part of the complex next to the the office. He arrived with a full size moving truck with his associate Robert and a small flat dolly without handles. He was on the phone with someone when he arrived. It took them 45 minutes to figure out how to get the fridge through the door. First saying they were having issues with the screw being stripped, then finally taking off the handles then, both doors.. Tim said don't worry we do thousands of these. They were eventually able to get it through the doorway but managed to tear off the lining of the door and some screws off the fridge and doorway. They were using a blanket to try to protect the fridge but it kind of backfired. (This fridge originally came in with one man from sears and a dolly. He was in and out in about 20 minutes). When we arrived at the second location they had no issues with getting through the doorway, which was interesting because the door way was the same size as the first doorway. They rebuilt the fridge, moved out the old fridge and we were checking out at 12:28p. I chose to venmo Tim. But was kind put off when he said I could include gratuity in my venmo. Overall, it was okay. There were other places that gave a better rate or a flat rate but were not available or had questionable reviews. I ended up paying the same as some of the 3 hour minimum places. So, it was just okay. read more

I had a great experience today with Josh & Robert! They gave a window leading up to the day, call me as mentioned when they were on their way. Entered, assessed the items to be moved and got to work. They were efficient and safe. Our location was 10 miles, they got there quickly and again moved everything in without a second spared. Appreciated that they wrapped up our items when it called for it and moved with care. Looking forward to calling OC Mini Movers again and asking for Josh & Robert if available. Reason why I went with them over others: 1. Answered my request. 2. Price was reasonable and they didn't have lots of rules or policies like minimum hours to hire. We moved during the biggest heat wave of the year and these guys did a great job. They were very careful with our stuff and took care to wrap things. If we ever moved again, I will definitely call them. All together it took 4 1/2 hours to move our stuff. The 2 movers were very professional and respectful. Also, I like the flexibility of using zelle to pay. The only recommendations I would say is... be very clear about how much stuff you have. If you have a garage with bulky items and/or exercise equipment, let them know ahead of time. We ended up having to make another trip back on our own to pick up more items that didn't fit in the truck. Maybe request a video interview prior to move day. He helped me tremendously through the Shipping Woes! It is so difficult to coordinate an overseas shipment and Tim Took Care of me like a True friend! I bought a Double Peacock Loveseat off EBay & OC Mini Movers helped pick it up from the Seller and he stored it until It was ready for packaging & shipment to Hawaii. But it doesn't end there. I called and was able to hire them on very short notice. I had two shipping cubes dropped off at my new house and needed help moving all the items inside (metal and wood desks, cabinets, furniture). They showed up and got everything moved in to different rooms with no issues. They were very time efficient and were very careful with all our belongings. Would easily work with them again and have no issues recommending them to others. The only item I would suggest you ask about is there was a small % fee to use a credit card. If you are using them I'd ask about that up front to see if that policy is still in effect or use one of there alternate payment methods. read more

I had a very good experience today with Mini Movers! I needed help moving a couch from my garage into my home office, and it wouldn't fit through the doorway into the hallway. My two movers were able to figure out a solution that got my couch in through my office window. It was a tight squeeze, and it even involved getting a local gardener to trim some branches off of a tree that were in the way, but we got it done! The movers were careful not to damage my home or my items, and were very watchful of their actions, which I appreciate very much. Unprofessional owner even after explaining how much boxes I have how much bags I have how much furniture I have he gave me 800$ estimate. I noticed while I was cleaning the floor that they totally destroyed the bottom of my couch. They had to remove the legs when moving and instead of using the zipper the whole bottom part is torn. Do not trust this company. This is a long-time coming, extremely long review, but I think there is a lot of important information that anyone researching moving companies need to know. Also, If I was researching, I would be a little hesitant of 466 five-star reviews. Not even one four-star review (or not many that I saw). I know many people are moving (also out of state) so finding the right mover is crucial to take care of your things. I will post re-post my initial review after I update you all with the information since my review. I posted my review and was VERY unhappy about my experience (I will note when that review starts). At that time, I was a business owner. After my review, I started seeing numerous harmful reviews on all of my business pages. I gave all these reviews to my boyfriend who then turned it over to his attorney. Upon researching, it was all from the same IP address. His lawyer contacted the owner, Tim, and told him that if he did not get these reviews taken down immediately, he would be filing a libel lawsuit. Tim's response was that I had to take down my review. My business was too important to me so I removed the review. Now I'm ready to repost the review since I sold my business. I will also be posting some of the reviews that were posted about me. You will notice that many come from the same name or similar names. Also, locations outside of the state of California. I am only licensed in CA. I also received emails from others who had similar threats, so they were forced to take down their review as well. ****INITIAL REVIEW: I had hired OC Mini Movers a handful of times. The first couple times they were awesome, but the last move was horrible. The owner sent two of his movers, who were friendly and polite. I hired them to move most of my apartment into a storage POD for a month while I was looking for an apartment. I had almost everything boxed up and ready to go. I spoke with the owner who advised me to buy rope to secure everything down (he did not tell me what kind of rope to buy). I showed one of the guys were the rope was. I noticed they had placed three things in my convertible and not their van: a dirty vacuum, a small wine rack, and a heavy box. The dirty vacuum was in my passenger seat on top of a box. My point was it was a dirty vacuum in my car that had leather interior. I walked the vacuum to them and left the heavy box and wine rack by the POD. At this point I am upset and on the phone with the owner, who doesn't really listen to my frustration and keeps telling me I have to let his guys do their job. I assumed they thought they were finished with "their job" as they were in their van and told me they were finished. I checked the pod with my things and they hadn't even used the rope I provided them! They then went back to finish this up and they shut the pod. One month later when the pod is dropped off at my new home, I open it up and all the ropes were very loose, which made me believe that they did not secure it appropriately. I have moved before and have never seen a van this loosely secured. When the movers moved the front things out of the pod, I saw many crused boxes. The mattress was laying across the top of the pod (other movers would stand it up and I confirmed this with the movers who unloaded the pod), and a green Sterilite box that I bought for sentimental family things was tipped over. On the floor of the pod (from the container) were a broken in half Christmas plate from my 8-month-old niece with her footprints and a broken candlestick that I inherited from my grandmother when she passed away- shattered. This part upset me the most as they had sentimental value that cannot be replaced. The Sterilite container was tipped over and the lid was trashed. I understand that when belongings are in storage vans, etc, that things do shift - this is why I was told to get rope. He did not tell me what kind to buy. He told me I bought the wrong rope after I called him to tell him my frustration. His movers should have advised me of the wrong rope when I showed them. I would have then gone to buy correct rope. I paid these guys $95 an hour to be the professionals - I am not the professional and this is why I depend on them to advise me. I sent a text to the owner with the pictures expressing my frustration and he was not apologetic at all about any of this. He placed blame on me because of how I packed the boxes (everything was in boxes taped up and Sterilite containers snapped shut) and he also blamed the POD company because they could have been driving rough. This is why, I thought, the ropes would have secured everything in its position. This whole last time I talked to the owner Tim about this, and the whole time he did not accept responsibility for the action of his movers.
