He's got a really nice demeanor, making it a really relaxing environment. COVID-19 Precautions I felt like they went above and beyond in terms of COVID vigilance. I grew out my bangs for a year because a previous stylist had cut them too thick. I was excited to finally get them cut again, wispy and light like I prefer them. I walked in and showed several pictures and was very specific about what I wanted through the entire appointment. I mentioned how I wanted my bangs light several times, and mapped out exactly where on my face I wanted them to frame. I told the stylist how they were cut too thick previously. I walked out looking like Edna Mode, with my bangs even thicker than before and my hair that was down to my butt almost cut to my shoulders (I had asked for mid-chest). I felt my stylist was honestly careless and distracted. I won't name her specifically because she has a lot of great reviews on here, and must have just been having a bad day. She was clearly in a rush, and made it clear that my hair was arduous for her. I could tell the stylists knew it went poorly, because mid-haircut they started making a transformation tiktok of my hair, and then didn't finish it. 3 stars because I hate to ding a smaller business, and clearly this is a fluke occurrence here. I could have said how much I hated it in-store and tried to get a refund, but truthfully I was trying not to cry as I spent the last year recovering from my last bad haircut. Best of luck to these stylists, but please listen to the client, pay attention to how much hair your are cutting, and be transparent when things go wrong! Unless you're Timothée Chalamet (in which case, I just want to say your hair is immaculate and thank you so so much for reading), you've probably had a bad haircut before; like, the type that makes you decide going outside is totally overrated and the introverts in your life were right the whole time. That was me a few months ago. And I would tell you where not to go, but my new stylist (Kelsey) said if she found out, it would be her civic duty to "take care of" my former stylist. Idk what that means, but while it sounds justified, it also sounds exhausting and Kesley doesn't need that in her life. Kesley was genuinely the coolest human, with awesome curls and the dopest tattoo sleeves. I felt cool just being in her chair, and you could too! Unlike others who pretend to know how to cut curly hair, Kelsey actually did, which I know is a low bar, but for those of us with curls - you get it. Aside from that, she raised the bar very high. I think this was easily the best long, curly cut I've gotten. She does dry cuts, she was communicative about what she was doing, and she regularly asked what I was wanting. She also had maybe the perfect balance of talking/not talking, which I think is an essential part of a salon experience. I had been going to the same hair stylists for 15 years. I told Kelsey I was switching to her bc my former stylist kept cutting my hair too short as my hair had gotten way curlier the last few years. I specifically said I want the shortest layer to be no shorter than right below my shoulders when my hair is dry and curly w creative freedom for layers and shaping but the length mattered. Im new to embrassing my curly hair so I was giving a lot of trust to her.  The shortest piece of hair is about 2 inches higher than my shoulder which means its 3-4 inches too short. Im not sure how you mess that up so badly and now it will take months to grow back. Ive never been so disappointed. Update: The salon did reach out which is why I went from 1 stars to 4. Not many places reach out to fix their mistakes so it is a class act place. I hope others have better experiences than I had and I will definitely consider going back. read more

I needed a new hair place since moving to the city, and I have found it! I had a cut with Rachel and let me tell you I don't think I have ever been happier with my hair after a cut. I hadn't gotten my hair cut in a while and the last place I did messed it up and made it very uneven and choppy. I showed Rachel pics of my goal and even with my very thin hair she not only salvaged it but made it look sooooo good. I'm obsessed! Not only have I found my new go-to but I cannot recommend this salon enough. Not only that but everyone working seemed extremely friendly and professional and they were also in the process of decorating for pride so inclusivity is a major plus as well! I love my hair and I have never felt so beautiful and happy leaving a salon appointment! Cody is an amazing stylist and a wizard with color. I was able to easily book my appointment online through their website via vagaro. The system sent me all of their Covid information by email prior to my appointment. I was also sent reminders, which are so great when the days are blending being home all time. The salon is super cute and clean and I felt so comfortable. They carry Amika brand hair care and I am now obsessed! They smell soo good!!! I instantly loved it so much I had to buy the shampoo and conditioner so I could smell that amazing everyday! And bonus the products are not expensive. RK salon does not accept cash for service payments at this time so don't forget your card and you can either give cash or use venmo for a tip. Susanna listened to what I wanted and needed for my haircut and gave me advice on what to do to my hair in order to grow it out. I asked her about which shampoo and conditioner are good for my damaged hair and she recommended two products, so of course I bought them and am trying them out. Do not get your lashes done here.. She did my lashes and I asked for full natural, she gave me skimpy natural! I was told to come back and she would add more but we would use my 2 week fill. After 2 days go by the eyelashes start to fall out! Mind you this is before my next appointment which is in 6 days. I come back for my next appointment and tell her they fell out she does nothing but add more lashes And yes she continues to use my two week fill. After getting more lashes added 2 days later they fall out again. Do not get your lashes done. They may look great after first getting them added but they only last 2 days too before they all fall out and leave noticeable gaps. read more
