Horrible experience. Brought in a Patek for a new band. He didn't have the right size and ordered one. He ordered the wrong size and then yelled (!) at me when I wanted him to reorder the correct band or refund. He basically kicked me out. I then wrote a review on google and he called and threatened to physically hurt me as well as write bad reviews for my business. I've sold that business and this review is factual and deserved. RK should be avoided as RK is a bully. Oh I should mention he then had another watch shop review my business negatively. How bizarre and petty. Karma is yours. Shortly after posting, the business called me back and, in an aggressive tone, repeatedly asked me to delete my review without allowing me to explain my side or concerns. I did not visit the store physically, but as a potential customer asking for a price quote, I believe I have every right to share my experience. I found the price to be unusually high for basic battery replacement, especially when the cost of service exceeds the value of the watch itself. I'm updating my review to reflect not just the pricing, but also the unprofessional and pressuring nature of the phone call I received afterwards. Took my Rolex for service. Price was fair and the owner was honest. I wanted to switch some parts out and he advised me to keep the original, he didn't try to upsell me to make a bigger profit. He made sure it was running correctly, cleaned it up and changed all the gaskets to make sure it waterproof. It was done in about a week! A few weeks go I was desperate to have my Breitling Automatic Shark Chronograph repaired and serviced. The top pusher had fallen off and got lost. My watch is a fine Swiss Made Watch from the 1990s. I knew parts would be hard to find for it and it might not be worth it to get it fixed. I first went to the watchmaker who used to work on my watches- I have mainly Breitlings, Omegas, Tudors and Rolexes. I had known this person for years, but he did not want to put in the effort to fix my Breitling. I next went to a Breitling authorized dealer. They wanted me to pay a deposit and they were not even going to touch my watch. They were going to ship it off- probably to Switzerland. They said it would take MONTHS to repair. I really wanted my Breitling fixed. It holds not only monetary value, but also personal value. I researched different watch repair shops in the Chicago area. The one place that stuck out above the others was: RK Watch Services in Northbrook. I visited the shop, brought my watch in and talked with the owner. I could see that he was working away on a number of luxury Swiss watches. We talked and he examined my watch. While other places turned me away, RK Watch accepted the job to rebuild and service my watch. What can I say? They did an amazing job! They ordered the parts necessary and restored my watch in weeks- not months! The price was reasonable and very fair. The service was excellent. I'll try to post a few pics of my Breitling with this review. I now have a new place to take all my watches when they need service or repairs. What started out as a depressing endeavor, ended up turning into a fortunate discovery. Thank you RK Watch Services! If you are a watch collector or enthusiast or you just own a decent higher end watches be they Swiss or German; with ETA or in-house movements- you need to look no further than RK for quality service. I love this company. It is a small one man operation, but because of that you get the owner doing all the work. Just like any perfectionist he wont let anyone else do the work and so he has refused to hire people over the years and as a result you may have kill people to get into the store, but once your in, (THAN YOUR IN, BUDDY). If your nice to him, he will even do work on a cheap watch (like my son's starter watch) and give it the same treatment as those overpriced Rolexes sitting in his repair machines. He also pressure tested/waterproofed a vintage Omega Seamaster I have and I no longer need to worry about getting it wet. His deep knowledge of watch repair and watch making is impressive and I know when I bring something in for him to fix, it will be in good hands. Great experience at RK Watch services in May. Brought my 1947 omega watch in to be serviced and learn more about it. The watch belonged to my grandfather and holds a lot of sentimental value. Russ took great care of me and my watch from the moment I dropped it off. Russ quoted me 3 weeks to complete the work and finished it in 2. While it was not cheap, the work was high quality and a quality watch master is hard to find. When I came to pick up my watch you could tell that Russ genuinely enjoyed working on it. If i could give 10 stars I would. If you want a factory approach to fixing your watch, send it off to the manufacturer for a cleaning, pay a ridiculous amount of money and wait 6 weeks to 3 months, if you are lucky to get it back. If you want a TRUE MASTER who is affordable, excellent at his craft, with 30 years (more Russ?) at the "bench" repairing the finest timepieces on the North Shore, than RK and "Russ" is your guy. Great service, excellent pricing, very knowledgeable. I have taken Rolex (3) , Panerai and the wifes Cartier and even an Automatic Luminox P-58 in recently. All returned spotless in fine working order as always. I have done 3 rounds of repairs with the "mad genius" Russian and never been disappointed. Walked into this shop for a minor watch repair with my 70 year old grandma. The first thing I noticed was the immediate thick scent of cigarettes. The owner was sitting on the chair speaking on the phone in Russian. Unfortunately he decided to start insulting myself and my grandma to whoever he was on the phone with not realizing we both speak Russian. He said " look at this idiot and his f*cken hat" and continued to go on. I confronted him in Russian and asked what he meant by that. He started apologizing and gaslighting me saying I misheard and did not understand. Sir, you operate a business in Northbrook, there are many Russian/Ukrainian speakers. How dumb are you to talk sh*t about your customer on the phone in front of him? I asked him again exactly what he said, his eyes are bloodshot and his hands are shaking, a few indicators of an alcoholic.
