My Bulova watch I purchased from an expensive jewelry store, 5 year warranty expired about 8 months ago. I noticed it seemed like the battery needed to be replaced which I've never had issues with this watch and I literally have worn it daily for the last 5 years. When I called the jewelry store I purchased it at, they said since it was out of warranty they would charge me $75 for the battery replacement! If it were possible I would give the WatchDoctor a "0" review. This is possibly the most dishonest business I have ever dealt with. I brought my very fine watch in for repair. Vlad looked at the watch and told me that watches are no longer repaired and that the movements are instead replaced. I thought this was bazaar but then this guy had so many good reviews, I decided to trust him. He charged my credit card $300.00. Bad move trusting him!!! After a call saying the watch was ready and he installed a new movement I picked up the watch. The next day it stopped running once again. I now was highly suspicious and decided to send the watch to the Longines recommended dealer. They advised me that the original movement was still in the watch and all it needed was cleaning. It is now running just fine. I have contacted Watch Doctor and they refuse to return my money and they are claiming that the new movement must have been defective. When I disputed that claim they sent me a picture, right out of a catalog, saying that this was my old movement. First of all a new movement was never installed. I have contacted the Consumer Fraud Div. of the Attorney General of Ill. and I am filing a claim. Additionally I will be filing a Small Claims Law Suite against THE WATCH DOCTOR, INC and Vlad Abrashkin. This gentleman, the owner, Vlad, is the paragon of competence, professionalism and excellent customer service. I dream of a world where all service providers across myriad industries and geographic settings possess his sense of decency, kindness and concern. I've taken several watches to Vlad over the years. Some are very inexpensive and others have been quite the opposite. He rebuilt for me a watch that belonged to my father for over 35 years and restored it to perfection. The price, compared to a factory "authorized" service center in NY, was extremely reasonable and I liked knowing that a local craftsman was doing the work, removing the element of FedEx, UPS, DHL, USPS, et. al., screwing up the one car funeral that is otherwise an uneventful delivery of a finished product. Most times one walks into his shop and is greeted by Vlad or, I believe, his wife, who commence working on your timepiece immediately. If either find that the issue at hand is more complex and the watch must be left behind, Vlad will provide both an estimate and the anticipated delivery date of completion. He's never once been off on either attribute and I immensely appreciate that. Some reviewers here have described Vlad as "flippant", uptight, etc. I have not discerned this in his demeanor whatsoever. He is, however, a no-nonsense professional who takes his work, and his customer service charge, extremely seriously. His prices are fair, his work is beyond reproach and there is nowhere else I would ever go to acquire the services that he, and only he, based on my empirical experience, can provide. As noted, more merchants should strive to do as well as Vlad does on all accounts. read more

While it's usually in the best practice to send your watch to it's original manufacturer for servicing, against my better judgement I decided to visit Watch Doctor for servicing/repair, as I thought it would be faster/more convenient. My Corum Admiral's Cup AC-One 45 Tides watch had a minor issue that needed to be repaired. I left my watch at the Watch Doctor for it's repair and I didn't think much of it. The next day I received a phone call from Watch Doctor. The caller wasn't "Dr. Vlad" but from one of the others that worked there. They claimed my watch was fake/inauthentic and they can not service it. I was understandably shocked as this is a watch I've had for over a year that's never shown any indication of being fake. Additionally it was quite expensive so the insinuation that I had purchased a fake watch carried serious implications. I asked the caller what signs suggested the watch was fake and she said she didn't know, only that "Dr. Vlad" said it was. The next day I came back to pick up my watch. "Dr. Vlad" wasn't there when I showed up but another employee was. I asked politely why Dr. Vlad believed the watch was fake which I thought would be an understandable question to ask as at that point I had received absolutely no reason from them to why it was fake. The employee responded rather apprehensively, saying that Dr. Vlad has had over 25 years of experience and he knows watches and if anyone could tell it's fake, it's him. I then stated that I simply wanted to know why he thought it was fake as I have all the paperwork for the watch and it would be helpful to know why it might be fake as I planned to contact a Corum service center to get it both authenticated and fixed. The employee then clammed up a little and said she doesn't know what made Dr. Vlad think it was fake, and she would talk to him and call me that day or the next for a more clear explanation. I never received that phone call. For the next week (while I was in the process of sending my watch to the Corum service center) I was filled with doubt and frustration at the fact my watch could possibly be fake because of what Watch Doctor had claimed. Eventually, the watch made its way to the Corum service center and almost immediately they told me the watch was undeniably authentic and the repair would not be that much trouble. I was immediately relieved that my watch was real, but then I became frustrated that at the worry created by my trip to the Watch Doctor. Why had Dr. Vlad claimed my watch was fake? Did he lie and just say that because he didn't want to admit he couldn't/didn't know how to work on my watch? Or was he not as experienced as his employee let on and genuinely thought it wasn't real? Regardless, it was highly unprofessional to refuse to provide any reasoning to support the claim that my watch was fake as watches can be quite expensive. I'm frankly puzzled that this happened at all. If there's any advice I have after this interaction, it's that if possible, one should always send their watch to its specific manufacturer/certified service center for repair and servicing. If it's absolutely necessary to go to a local repair center, I would NOT recommend going to the Watch Doctor. read more

I had a very unfortunate expieriences with Vladimir at the watch doctor. I took in four watches, Chopard , John Hardy, Michelle, and Moschino and was initially charged 10 dollars per watch for a battery change. When I came home all four of my watches were out of order following his work. Due to this I returned to the store to express my disappointment and Vladimir started to yell at me, insulted the quality of my watches saying "they were cheap plastic mechanisms", and finally gave me 10 dollars back in cash and threw me out of his store telling me to never come back. He was rude and obnoxious. Now I am stuck with four broken watches and will have to spend hundreds of dollars to get them fixed. I have never been treated like this before and was very unsatisfied. My boss at work also expierienced a similar expieriences with the owner. I recommend to avoid this store when going to get your watches repaired. read more
