RKC Construction, from design to quote to build, they were awesome!! From Mike Marquardt, who designed the cover to Justin and Dante, who were in charge of the build, we can't say enough about the quality, professionalism and attention to detail shown throughout the entire process. When we decided to build an aluminum pergola to provide shade around our pool area,we thought we knew what we wanted, boy were we wrong! Even though we already had a quote from another well known company, until we talked with Mike at RKC, we had no idea how many options were actually available to us (even from all the pictures we had looked at). These options involved everything from design, to materials, to construction. As we quickly discovered, the cover from the first company was a basic design, that would have looked the same as so many others we had seen online and while it would have been ok, it would have been NOTHING like the cover we ended up with. Mike's experience and true desire to provide the customer with a quality cover that they will be proud of was obvious from the start. Ultimately we decided to go with a 3" foam core solid cover that provided a large rain protected area as well as a super clean look with no rafters underneath. At the heart of the design was his suggestion that we could remove 2 of the 5 support posts and open up the view along that side (this option was never brought up in the first bid). This would be possible if they added steel to the inside of the 3 remaining posts as well as the 40 foot front support beam. He also suggested using the stronger steel feet that are normally used when building a completely free standing structure. This provided a rock solid feel to the 3 columns as well as the rest of the cover. As for Justin and Dante, they were polite, professional, efficient and clean. They took the time to patiently answer all my questions along the way. It was obvious that they knew exactly what they were doing with no time wasted trying to "figure it out", it was quite apparent from the lack of wasted material along the way. After it's all said and done we could not be happier with the entire process and the end result provided by Mike, Justin and Dante from RKC Construction. Keep up the great work!! read more

I love love love our new patio cover. It came out PERFECT! The entire process from the initial in home estimate with mike to the owner Rick coming for final measure and going over all of the pertinent details of our project all the way to the installation when Tim and his crew came out and installed the patio. It only took 2 days to complete the entire patio. We chose to go with the custom roof mount attachment which I must say came out beautiful and added 2' to the overall height of the patio. The patio we chose was a 4" insulated type that allows for solar and or tile roofing on top. Then after that they had Vince come out and install lighting on the patio. It looks stunning at night ! We are also going to be having RKC come out and do our concrete and window replacement in our house. The windows we chose are going to be triple pane ply gem brand and can't wait to get it done.The triple pane option was very interesting to me because nobody else offers it. The price, professionalism and quality control is something I am very grateful for. I have dealt with other contractors in the past and it has not even come close to RKC standards. I can really tell Rick takes pride in his company and with the people he hires. Tim the foreman told me he has over 15 years of experience with building patio covers. It was time to replace our patio and start anew. I contact Mike at RKC some months ago but we just didn't pull the plug. In conversation, I told Mike everything he did was perfect from understanding our required needs and expectations. He worked incredibly hard on the proposal side to ensure we were happy to the point of signing the contract. A little over 1/2 a year later, we reached out and finalized an agreement. I say this because his company was the only one we reached out to when it was time. The team assigned to our patio were all business. From the time they began to the very end. The team was led by Tim, (in his words the Hawaiian guy). He also, like Mike, listened and helped by asking the right questions to ensure everything thing was as required and expected. Everyone was friendly and courteous. We are very pleased with the results and have enjoyed the patio daily (that was the idea). Excellent price and quality construction. I had them build a 70' long and between 10' & 14' wide trellis type patio cover. You can put a level anywhere you choose and get a level or plumb reading. They built it around my back planters and took care not to destroy my landscaping and plantings. This is a big trellis and it took them a couple days to complete. They showed up when they said they would and left the area clean between work days. Rick, the owner is all business and it is easy to see he demands quality from his workers. You can tell he believes in his product and his crew's skills. His suggestion to add steel to the beams to eliminate posts was very important to the look. The crew was very well mannered and worked diligently. Because I really love woodwork, I was concerned the aluminum wood would be a little less than the look I wanted and was pleasantly surprised at the final product. I have received what I believe are heartfelt honest compliments from everyone who has seen the finished product.No complaints at all and I would recommend them to my friends. Rick and his team were second to none. He was prompt, accurate, excellent installation and thoroughness throughout the entire project. I had his company install two patio covers in 2014. One was in my lower patio 14'x15' that was covered using Almond Scallop USA classic metal. The second patio cover was a lattice cover 14'x10', same material. It took approximately 4 weeks to order, receive, schedule and install both patio covers. Part of the contract was additional concrete work with water drains to support downspouts from covered lower patio. If any of his employees had questions, Rick always took the time to come on the job site, address the concerns and resolve any questions immediately. He's true to his word. Does excellent neat work. Even a year later I had some questions and concerns about another part of my yard, Rick was jolly on the spot, made the assessment, gave me a fair price and work was done quickly with exceptional precision. Rose & Tom 08/22/17 We have used Rick (RKC) construction for the past 12 years. He completely did a rebuilt of my 2400 sq ft office in 2005, with ten offices with a fully functional handicapped restroom, a complete kitchen and a conference room. It was amazingly well planned and completed on time, just prior to our deadline to begin out tax season. I found RKC Construction at my local home show in Del Mar, CA. they had a great display of a patio cover so my husband and I decided to have them come out and quote us for the patio cover we wanted. The salesman that came out was very knowledgeable about the products they offered and was able to answer all of our questions. He was also able to help us decide what would work better for us. We ended up purchasing a half Solid half Lattice Patio cover and couldn't be more pleased. The patio cover was installed 2 weeks after our initial visit and only took about a day and a half to install. they even installed lights in the solid portion which makes a great outdoor space to have. We hired RKC to install some retrofit windows in our home a few years back. He came out really quick and did a quick quote and took measurements. Once I approved it, he had the windows within a few days and though his crews were really busy, he was able to get someone out on a Saturday when I was free and get 13 windows installed in one day with all the trim and everything. I wasn't sure how truly nice they were until I had used them for a while. All the windows operated smoothly years later an they had the solar treatment in them where the window itself was able to block a majority of the heat coming through. I was truly astonished. They kept the house a lot cooler than the original single pane windows I had in and ended up saving us a ton of money on our month energy. RKC built a beautiful patio cover for us. Mike came out to explain the process and go over their product. He was with us every step of the way. I felt that he really cared about the job and wanted us to be happy. We even had some last minute design changes that he made sure happened for us. I would have actually given 4.5 stars only because there were glitches with our project in terms of timing and a couple issues. With that being said, they made sure that we were 100% happy and the issues were all resolved. I feel that if we have any problems with the structure, they would be back in a hearbeat to rectify any problems. I have already recommended them to others and would use them again in the future. I recently purchased a home that had a beaten up wooden patio cover. I called RKC as well as other companies to get an estimate. I went with RKC and I wound up with a beautiful cover for a better price than other patio/sunroom companies offered. Love my windows!! Look Great, really do cut down on heating/air bills!! Really did not have to run my air as much as before!! Even with the heat we just had!! Also, have a beautiful patio cover which unbelievably was able to be whatever height I wanted as to not block my view!! Was really pleased with the outcome of all!! I did not want wood anymore for my patio cover this product is excellent, virtually no maintenance needed, don't have to worry about termites and looks great!! Quality of product is the best and price was comparable to the quality. Other imitation products I looked at were cheaper but what comes with cheaper is the quality... We are extremely happy with our new aluminum patio cover and the entire process of working with Mike and his team at RKC. Mike always communicated the schedule and once the job started it was completed faster than we anticipated. We had an old large wood lattice cover removed and the demo took three hours. We had Rick from RKC come out to give us an estimate to repair an electrical short in the ceiling fan in our patio cover caused by the original installers who did sub-standard work. (Jackson Patio--now out of business--left sharp edges where they cut holes for the wiring which cut the wire insulation). Rick was very friendly and knowledgeable. He spent about an hour assessing the problem and discussing the best solution for our problem. He told our electrician how to handle the repair, including what materials and techniques to use, and how to waterproof seal it. When we asked what we owed him for this visit, he said "no charge". How often to you hear that? Great service! read more
